Flying Islands Chronicles was available as a giveaway on June 13, 2015!
At the very edge of one of the flying islands there lived a typical farmer, dreaming of a rich harvest. But his dreams were interrupted by giant cogwheels falling from the sky directly into his garden. The farmer vowed to do everything in his power to find out who or what caused the ruin of all his crops. It turned out that robots, having been designed by the realm’s finest masters and having served humanity for many years, have suddenly gone mad and are now bent on death and destruction. Now the farmer and his friends need to figure out what exactly had gone wrong and restore peace in the kingdom. Repair ruined buildings, recruit soldiers and engineers, and explore magical islands. Only you can help your faithful friends find what they’re looking for and defeat the wicked Emerald Master.

I was really enjoying this game until about 1/2 way through the 3rd island. Sadly, I hit too many bugs in the game to want to continue.
In the level with all the railroads (Almost There), one of the soldiers got stuck in the same place & was not able to move. Fortunately I had a second to take care of the thieves.
On the maze level (Alarm! Alarm!), several workers got stuck trying to upgrade the gold mine. Thinking an exit and restart might help, I closed the game which does say SAVE AND EXIT but it did not save that level so I had to start it over.
On another railroad level (The Final Steps), my soldier would not leave the barracks so the robot destroyed several buildings and because it was a robot, workers would not leave the warehouse so there was no way to earn the resources to upgrade the barracks for a second soldier.
That's when I decided to quit. Too bad because it was fun up until all the bugs!

Rather mindless, but sometimes that's just the game you're looking for to kill a half hour or so. Haven't finished the game yet, simply because I get bored after a few levels, but still give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Thank you for the game. I came back early this morning being out all day yesterday and downloaded and installed the game, but unfortunately it crashed on opening. This morning I downloaded it from my laptop after 9 (so thank you GGOTD for allowing that)and I could open it. I suppose something is missing from my PC. Have not played the game yet, but the first thing I did was mute the music. I love this kind of TM games, but the comments were not that favourite, so I will not be too disappointed if it is not that enjoyable. Hope you had a lovely birthday dinner, Whiterabbit. Good luck with helping your son with the maths; tangents and cosines I did not understand at all and failed miserably when I was at school. I am sure your son will do better with your support.

I was so happy to see this sub-genre of Time Management game, as I love them! however, I'm having the same problem, on the same level (first level on 2nd island) as #9 Invisible: the cursor and the character leave tracks so that you can't really see what you're doing. I tried deleting, then reloading the game, but no joy. I don't usually have problems with games, so I don't think it's my computer.
*sigh* I was looking forward to this, and enjoying it until this problem level.

I love these types of games. Loaded fine Win 8.1 Thank you.

Hey Rabbit...just one small request on your non-review days: please list the genre of the game. It's always bugged me that the site itself does not, but you usually mention it in your 1st sentence, so I know if I can just ignore the rest if it's a genre I don't like. Today, I had to read WAY too far before confirming it was, in fact, a TMG (thanks #2.
And I think GGAOTD long "abandoned" this site to you without making you a part of the Giveaway Team. If they continue to want/expect one of your EXCELLENT personal reviews, making it worth your while is long overdue. Otherwise, being a PWD takes enough energy, let alone being a GOOD father, I think you've done enough for this community for years; if you just keep on moderating, that's good enough for me. Otherwise, I think links/excerpts to gamezebo, BFG, etc. are MORE than enough, and it's time we all pipe up and thank you for all the years you've given, and encourage you to keep your priorities in order, even if that means we'll lose you here. But again, I think GAOTD should make you a part of the team, and that you should get a 2/7 share for basically taking over the games site. :)
(insert applause sound effect here.)

To win 3 gold stars on levels you have to click on your character or the item to be picked up and he will work faster and run faster.
It's a cute game, it runs fine on W7 64 bit. Graphics are not stellar but passable. For a purchased gamed I would expect better.
One thing I do not like is how fast the narration goes. I can not read that fast. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I prefer a 'continue' or 'skip' button so I can go at my own speed.

I simply found the game to be completely unplayable.. can't seem to figure out which vidio mode it needs, many of the graphics don't load, and the cursor moves too slow or too fast, rendering accurate cursor movement impractical. If this were not a timed game, I'd not worry about it, but since it is, the game defeats itself, making the timed portion completely pointless.
I find most offerings interesting, but this one.. I just can't recomend it.

Great Graphics and works fine (Win 7)... Looks like there may be a bug with the 'Defender' He just stops attacking... Really funny to see him just stand outside the Barracks and look around when he should be fighting. :)

Thank you for the game. I have been hankering for a good time management game. The customer based ones don't do it for me but I love the construction ones. I had no problem with the tutorial but some issue with getting the mouse just right to click on supplies and tasks. It will come with practice I am sure.
I also appreciate the tip about this week's Bundle Stars. I have already bought one.

Looked around for reviews of this title elsewhere, but they seem few and far between. Noticed the same when researching Virtual Farm last week. These 2 Mystery Tag titles just didn't seem to excite enough players on various game sites to generate much buzz. Maybe their GGOTD exposure will.
However, I mention it because noticed some comments on a Game House forum topic about glitches in later levels that prevented a player or 2 from finishing. Maybe though, those players were trying to do something in the wrong sequence or without resources. So, hopefully, folks here will be able to complete the game without trouble. Haven't decided whether to try or not. I think the overriding rule for judging TM games should be: is it a challenge or a chore? If I want work, there's plenty of drudgery in the real world. The little of the youtube video looks challenging. May try. Though may have the usual Mystery Tag small rough spots. For example, why are you talking to the gopher? I realize this reveals something, but at least they could have written a quick dialog. lol. Unfortunately, won't have time to finish and post whether I ran into any glitches before the giveaway day is over. Good luck all. Thanks GGOTD.

Happy Birthday Stephen! Game loaded well & looks ok but my curser is a bit wayward in this. Only managed 2 stars in levels 3 & 4. This might be the challenge of the game. I will certainly persist with it as I like TM games. I was away for 6 weeks and missed all the HO games so thanks Fran for your comments. Will try to look at MYPlayCity or even Bundle Stars for them. Thanks to the developers, Stephen & GOTD for today's bit of entertainment.

Interesting game and I can definitely see where it would be fun, expecially for children, but the text comes and goes too quickly for a large majority of kids to be able to read it all. Even I had trouble trying to get through some of it before it disappeared. It would be better if the text remained until you clicked on it.

Hiya Rabbit, nice game for today. looks fun and since it's free I take it along. It looks absolutly up to par with the Playrix and Alawar offerings we usualy get for this genre. You linked to the steam sales list mentioning it being a complete list of all the sales. Upon checking the list it doesn't seem complete by a long shot. For example the entire DLC library of TS2015 is at least 50% off but not mentioned in said list. As far as I can see it only lists the 24hr sale items but not the 12hr flash sales or the full sale period discounts like TS2015 so I advice anybody that is looking for a great deal to not just check the list but also the front store page and if you are looking for a sale on your favorite game make sure you check it's store page to be sure.

Heya Wrascally Wabbit,
Happy belated BD. Sorry haven't been in the best mode. Hope you had a great day and many more. Tell Cal that years later he will really appreciate what you have doing for him. It is in his best interest.
Thanks Mystery Games and GGOTD for the game. I am not a fan of TM games but I appreciate the offer. Better than no game at all.
Got a question about that Bundle Stars game bundle. Is it only Steam? I still am not a big fan of Steam games since you really don't "own" them. Just my opinion.....

Hi again, Happy Birthday to You All!! It actually makes sense to have these joint events where and when one can catch each and all celebrating 'butterflies' into one net, so to speak:) We've done it twice so far, and wondered why not more often! No one felt less important and it was fun. OK, there might be some extra special Birthdays, Anniversaries or family Events when it would look odd, or even 'mean' to mix them together into one Party, especially when inviting respective Friends of different family members too. Anyway, enjoy this nice (and by all accounts much needed) break from tense air of pending exams..

Not sure how to post a picture, but the game went okay until level 5 or so - where he says he can't see anything but smoke. However, I can't see anything either, and it's not just because of the smoke:

It took forever to find the last fire to finish putting out. Next level played fine. The game's a little slow, and you can't click on anything if the game thinks you shouldn't be going there yet.

When you get a chance Stephen this line needs to be removed from the free game sites paragraph since they have fixed their website....".Cab Lady/Lady Lei doesn’t recommend TooMyk Games due to malware warnings."

Ok Win 8.1 x64 Pro. Full screen, sliders for sound, music. Did the fast tutorial for heck of it. One great addition to this old chestnut game formula is extra clicks on an object (wood, stone, bridge repair) speeds up the action/movement.
Cool to see little farmer then race to chore. Also seems one can queue ssignments. For me the magic marker colors and text were just fine -- no visual issues. Will play this one for a while as a HOG alternative. Like to see if they can improve on game format. Hope not just more of same. All these follow same style lately. See job, do job. Need to jazz it up. Thanks GOTD.

I've made the same experience: up to level three it was easy, starting with the fourth I can't finish with more than 2 stars ...

Yay, a MysteryTag game, and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical. This is the type of time management/strategy game I love and at the first glance at the screen shots, it really didn't look up to par. The art isn't much and when I first opened the game, the music and vid wasn't much either. It seemed very basic.
Then I got to the third level and it took several tries to make the three stars. Fourth level was harder. So far, I've made red, but with only two stars. What it lacks in looks and splash, it's making up for in intricacy and timing.
Oh, and it downloaded, extracted, played, etc fine on Win 7/64.

Hi, please don't worry Stephen about moderating less these past few weekends, as many parents (and family members!) understand very well anxiety and 'pain' of being in the midst of our Youngsters' Exams and in it all.. It's like we are all 'pregnant', but only one can actually give that birth, make that final push..:) It'll happen, and then - YIPPEE!! (this actual line and in capital letters no less, exists on a sheet of paper underneath slightly faded Exams-Schedule of one of our Daughters with each line in different colour crossed and ticked off.., and which I still keep nowadays on a back of our kitchen cupboard door since.. late 90's!:) Good Luck to Your Son!
The last few weekends Games were simply fab!! These full featured Adventure/HO Giveaways technically (for me at least) didn't need special assistance and occasional glitches, flashes etc were resolved via online read, videos and help, also advice posted here. 'Dorian Gray' Collectors Edition (went for it as well) can be found for free on MyPlayCity in case anyone is interested:) 'Insane Cold', oh what a brilliant, interesting Game and Storyline!! (otherwise off course being an absolute swine to read ho's descriptions and not understanding the Concept of Amulet/Medallion right from the beginning. Sorry, even tutorials in casual Mode are not helpful here and it took me, fairly experienced player nearly a week to realize where I've been going wrong!! Trust me, and this is NOT a SPOILER!: Ignore messages from Frozen Folks telling you to touch them with MEDALLION, which you will get at the END eventually anyway, and instead as you get along finding them in various Locations - CAPTURE their 'Souls' into that 'Round thing' ABOVE the Hint Button, opening it, getting AMULET from inside, holding on Frozen Person long enough to see that 'Soul' sucked into the Round Case and little Blue Light around it LIT UP. Otherwise - Hint Button will GO to them like magnet in every Location where they are, show little else, drive you mad!!.., lol)
Thanks for Today's Giveaway from the same Developer, might not go for it, as I'm spoiled by these big Games of lately and TMs are my lesser choices. Enjoy Weekend, here in UK (Suffolk), after glorious past few days - absolute wet misery, but rain needed for all garden plants, so mustn't grumble:)

WOOHOO!! Finally, another Time Management one after so many Hidden Object games!
First and foremost, installed and ran fine on Win7 Home Premium, service pack whateveritisnow.
To start out, the music is great. It's not too horrific like some and the sounds aren't bad. And you can cue up tasks, a must as far as I'm concerned when it comes to TM games
However, those are about the only pluses for this game.
The first thing you notice is the graphics are just horrible. Not only are they cheap and cheesy looking, but the in game graphics are even worse. The hand and signs for what you're doing are so small, it's hard to see them at times. The colors they use also tend to blend into the background enough it's very easy to miss them.
Second, while there's a tutorial, it doesn't cover near enough and even I was a tad at a loss on how to do whatever in a few places. You had to guess on some of it. Even it showing you didn't help as what was there was so small it was hard to read, even on the huge monitor I have.
Third, it moves very slowly. Not sure if you can buy upgrades later as I closed it after the second level, but it's too slow to do much of anything.
Finally, it's just not interesting. I don't comment on the storylines they use as I skip those, but the play was not engaging or exciting like so many others out there. This is a game that probably isn't worth any tweaking. It needs a complete overhaul to get it to where it's worth playing. Like I said, I didn't get beyond the second level when I gave up.
For me, this gets a thumbs down. While some might like it, especially ones that don't play this genre much, I'm spoiled by some of the others and just didn't find it engaging.

Same as last week, too much to do with exam practice with my son to post a full review. He's got two further maths papers this coming week and needs a lot of support especially with Tangents, cosines etc. I'll still be moderating, but not as often as I usually do. Only tone more week till normal service is resumed. :)
Flying Islands Chronicles
Videos
You can see a you tube video of today's giveaway HERE
Installation:
The zip file once downloaded should be 231 MB size and when installed to the default path mentioned below is 542 MB in size. Installation is a breeze; the unzipped setup file installs the game to the following path:
C:\Games\FlyingIslandChronicles_Game
Once installed you can delete the wrapped setup file (for those that are new to the giveaway project that's the orange colored file with a key symbol on the icon; you can also delete the Setup.gcd security file and the read me document.
There is no desktop icon created during installation so you will have to create your own via the above path or via which ever path you choose for yourself. If you also want a start menu shortcut you will have to go into Documents and Settings which is found in the root directory (C:\).
i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\name\Start Menu\Programs\ (XP) or C:\Users\(User-Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ (Win 7 & 8 and Vista)
Where 'name' equals administrator, or whatever name you use for your account. Just create a new folder within the program folder and add a shortcut from the games executable file. (right click and select create shortcut then copy that to the folder you've just created - you can also use the same shortcut and copy it to the desktop or select send to desktop {create shortcut}).
There is no music folder inside the main game folder, so there's no way of changing the music directly. You can turn off the music via the options menu, then play your own music via a media player if you wish.
Some community members may have problems installing the game due to the Themida based security included with the download. Norton is one AV suite that seems to tag the file as suspicious and tends to delete the file, which will then throw up one of several error messages. If this problem does arise, there are two ways around it (or three if you decide not to install the game):
I’d try for the first option first. If you aren’t sure how to configure the antimalware suite, either read the programs help files or Google how to do it, then and only then as a last resort go for turning your security off temporarily; however, if you do choose that option, you do so at your own risk. (Just to allay any fears that you may get infected installing a game giveaway with no security turned on). The giveaway team have given away well over a thousand games since the inception of the game giveaway project back in Decenber 2006 and no game has ever been infected with malware. The giveaway team check all downloads throughly using several malware suites to ensure the files are clean.

Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting today's game to work please go HERE for help. I've posted most of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and the grace period lasts for up to 1 hour.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from. Other sites include Gametop and FreeGamePick. Todays game isn't available from any of the free sites
If you do download any games from MyPlayCity, Gametop or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as these free game sites tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)http://steamcommunity.com/app/263200
For now I won't be recommending you download games from Jenkat Games. They have changed the way you get games from their site. Diane has posted information about this over in the game discussion forums. If I have time or remember, I'll link to it.
Games, Games, and yet more Games plus Download, Installation & Game play Problems:
The Steam summer MONSTER sale has just started (yesterday), so there are hundreds if not thousands of games on sale at the moment. Well worth checking in daily to see the 12 hour flash sales.
You can find a full list of all sale items HERE.
You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites.
GreenManGaming
Gamersgate Summer Sale
GOG (DRM free games)
Desura
Gamestop
GameFly (soon to be sold off)
Free Game Sites:
MyPlayCity (over a 1000 games to choose from)
Gametop
FreeGamePick
To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamworks games, many of the above sites also sell steamwork games.
If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. you'll find the indie bundles thread HERE. The thread is outdated, but all of the links will still take you to the latest bundles.
