Once you obtain all the equitment available, the game gets alot easier.I got up to level 86 and I just quit because it it seemed like a neverending process.I also noticed that every 8 or so levels the game starts to repeat itself over and over which can get boring, but for the most part is fun and addicting. It's too bad I cant save my progress,I was so far....I decided to rate this game a seven, mainly because of not being able to save my progress.

Downloaded and played smoothly on Windows XP. I played this waaaay longer than I thought I would. I was trying different combinations - should I buy the cheap hook or save up for a stronger reel? It was fun to try different combinations. Wow! I like to fish. The developers sure knew a lot about fish and tackle. There is a detailed description of each fish and it's habitat. So is the tackle including model numbers and technical data relating to fishing(ie.the term "test pounds" when it comes to fishing line).

A few notes:
1. Having to recheck which mode of game I'm playing each time is tedious. Instead, an "EXIT to MENU" button would be much more appropriate while I'm playing a game and trying to progress through the levels.
2. Some games also have an option to check a box on the initial screen so I don't have to view it every time I start a new game. After a few games, I KNOW which fish I can catch and which are too big.
3. I too wish there was a way to save progress - perhaps every 5 segments would complete a level as in other games.
4. When restarting the game it would be nice to be given a choice to continue or start a new game.

Thank You Double Games. I liked playing Fishing Trip but tired of clicking through all those screens to replay the same easy levels in order to get to the challenging ones.

GGotD. Sorry I didn't get to this until today. You Rock.

I thought this game was a dud, but surprisingly, after a little perseverance, I discovered it was quite fun and definitely could be addictive. I especially like the ability to upgrade your fishing tackle. I haven’t played far enough into the game though to discover whether the game can be saved after a certain point as is the case in some games where you have to complete several levels before it will save. If there is no save facility whatsoever I really think you need to update the game to include this option. It will definitely improve the appeal of the game. I can see if I continually have to start from the beginning each time I power up the game, it will become tedious and I’ll lose the initial enthusiasm I have for this game.

Thank you so much GGAotD and Double Games for the last few games. They have been rather different from the usual clones (which I don't mind at all, especially if it's an arkanoid or space shoot ‘em up). Keep up the fantastic work. I've discovered several games that I'd never have thought of downloading to check them out prior to GGAotD's inception early last December. There have only been a few games that have been discarded by me so far. :D

Well, not really for me. I don't like the fact that you can't save the game, I usually don't get to play for long periods of time and need a save feature.

Other than that... I would hope that anyone using this site would realize that any game is to be downloaded and enjoyed by each individual person, depending on their personal likes, wants, and even morals. I personally don't like this game. Others do. It's a "to each their own" type thing. I have games on my comp I don't let my kids play (Mystery Case Files: Ravenhurst for one) for whatever reason. I would think that, on a wonderful site like this, that people would judge each game on an individual basis. What might work for me might not work for you, and vice versa. One game from this company might have images some people don't like, that doesn't mean the next game from the same company will. Judge each game first.

Just sayin'.

This game reminds me of the fishing mini game in Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, back on the old original Gameboy. It's an entertaining distraction, and I'm glad to get it for free, but that MSRP of $19.95 is about $15 higher than it should be.

By the way, parents of small children should be warned, all the fish in this game, they're naked. ^_-

Hay I finally figured it out.
Unless EVERYONE hates the game, i'll download it and try it for my self. Being an idiot I'm easily amused so I can't wait to go fishing.
Thopugh I only have to walk to the back of the yard and hop in the boat to fish BUT i'm not putting $300. in gas for a day fishin when I can fish for free.

Thanks for the card game yesterday, and I'm enjoying the fishing trip today. Very nice games.
I agree with #16 & #44 ~ they have a valid point on the censorship issues with these games. I'm tired of people trying to censor everything just because they don't like what they see or approve it for other people based on their own moral compass.
The freedom to choose is for everyone, not just you!!
So if you are going to overprotect your children (who by the way come in contact with alot worse at school and hanging out with friends) ~just don't download the games and keep it out of your own life.
Let everyone else choose for themselves and mind your own business.

And...#43 one of the biggest issues I have with people in the Midwest and the South is they will take their children out "hunting" in the woods to kill animals for sport and then censor everything else they do.
Now don't get me wrong, I believe in the right to bear arms, free speech, etc.
But for parents to teach kids to kill, use guns, skin the animals and then turn around and censor a picture that is in no way detailed nudity is just pure hypocrisy to me.

"I just don’t know how you can possibly refer to this as porn!"
Where did Bobby refer to this as "porn"?
Just another example of people twisting things when someone disagrees with them. The bible (oh boy, that will get a response) says to "train up a child", well, I prefer to train my children not to look a even a nude cartoon. So, I, likr Bobby,, will not be loading up any games from this company

I agree with #4 that it is not appropriate to put nude images (even if they are not detailed images #44) on a game that is possibly geared for children to play. I will not download any further software from this company.

I do believe if the company made it clear on games that have nude images on them it would allow a person to decide what is appropriate or not for their household computer before downloading. Those way families with small children can choose what they want to expose to their children or not! And in the future they may want to do spell check!

Hello again, :)

I've been playing this game for a little while this morning and for some ridiculous reason I've been enjoying it. :) Sometimes, a silly game does appeal to game players and this is no exception.

Activation and installation went well, with no crashes or issues of any kind.

I won't actually go through the game play itself as it's already been covered by #33 Cindy ;) and I will agree with those who commented on the spelling - it's really atrocious. Double Games needs to proof the games before offering them here as it does say something about their professionalism - and it's not good.

The "Instructions" file however, is understandable and comprehensive enough to teach you how to play. It's not clear how you would find an Options screen though - you have to click on "Instructions" and then "Interface," which gives you separate options for music and sound FX (on or off,) but no options for volume. It's all very basic.

I see on their website that they also distribute some of the "Mystery Case Files" games - wow I'd really love the opportunity to test those out for DoubleGames - and possibly buy their upgrades in the future! Thank you again DoubleGames for your involvement here with us - most of us appreciate you being here on GOTD.

As always, thank you GOTD - I hope you're growing stronger as each day passes, with your website success assured. :)

Good morning everyone! ;)

Before I try the game, I wanted to make a comment on the nude cartoon on the back of the cards yesterday. I can't believe that there's been such a mountain made out of a molehill! And to call the company untrustworthy because of this one thing, is unbelievable!

I'm originally from Australia, (though Europeans are the same,)where our rating laws are not nearly as severe as those here, and kids would have no more than a giggle when coming across these cartoon cards.

Bobby, I just don't know how you can possibly refer to this as porn! There are no details in the genital area and in fact the drawings are no more pornographic than naked Barbie dolls for goodness sakes or the innuendo of the old children's game back in the 80s; "Leisure Suit Larry."

Children here in the States are way too over protected and too sheltered in comparison to those of many other countries and it doesn't do them any favors as they grow up.

Parents in general should consider letting go of their apron strings a little and allow children to grow up normally, without over-censoring them. G-d knows what some people would do if they ever found a "Playboy" under their son's beds!

@ Belgian Dude:

If morality can be defined as twisted in your world, then so be it.

I am free to make choices according to personal and community mores; living in the American midwest, those mores are more conservative than those of San Francisco, for example. The biggest crime in my area is mailbox bashing; the only assaults we face are from skunks on the attack. I'd say that speaks volumes for our conservative way of life.

Thank you for your input. Tell you what .. if you are ever in the midwest, I'll take you snipe hunting in the beautiful Missouri woodlands, as compensation for your outrage.

My apologies to the GAotD team for a double post.

This game is very similar to a www.splashspot.com game. "Gone Fishin'". Too get the line to be longer you have to upgrade your fishing equipment. If you want to get a taste of this game before you download it (and maybe win a prize). Go over to splashspot.com. I'm not affiliated with that website. I even lost their ActiveX code so I don't even play over there I just thought of them when I saw this game.

@4 I agree the nude images were very unnecessary.

@16 Since you are 'fine with it' let him 'not be fine with it'. Some people still have a brain that is not corrupted with the current world's thinking.

As for the game, It is very simple, simple sounds/music and simple but decent graphics. However it may appeal to fishing game enthusiasts. I give it a 4/10.

This is a rather cheesy game that I'm having a lot of fun playing. I know, I know. Pathetic, but still, it's simple and silly and I like it. The idea is that you can choose to go through either a campaign mode or an action mode. The campaign mode is where you have to catch a specified number of a certain kind of fish before moving on to the next level. The action mode is more a race against the clock, where you try to catch the fish before time runs out. Before you start a level, a screen will pop up showing you the types of fish you are allowed to catch and their worth. As you catch, say, 3 in a row of a certain fish, you move up to the next level, but you also get money for the fish you catch. As your money increases, you can go into the store to buy things like better hooks, longer lines, better reels, and so on and so forth, so that you can reach the fish that are closer to the bottom.

I don't like that you can't save the game, but just to have fun while killing time, I do like the game. So far there's no nudity involved at all, for those who might be worried about that.

#16...interesting and very insightful in how different cultures view 'offensive' material and I completely agree about the irony regarding many of our views/beliefs and actual reality(let's NOT talk about a person's rights and the death penalty for example!). I do believe that the U.S. has higher teen pregnancy and sexcrimes than other countries because frankly, our chicks are hotter!....(jk, thought I'd lighten the mood!)

As for a decision to 'boycott' a company based on background scene imagery........The responsibility to produce apps/games that ALL cultures can accept lies with the software maker. I am sure that absolutely no harm was intended or even recognized by DoubleGames but that is no reason for any person to compromise their personal feelings/morals(even if they appear excessive to some)....just so a company can move product?!?!? They should be counting their blessings that 'grandma' isn't opening a blog forum to make sure every senior in America keeps ther grandkids away from their games!! (also, isnt the reason companys put their games on this site to learn exacly this type of thing? Seems like a good thing for the company that 'grandma' is boycotting and making them aware of soemthing I am sure they did not give a second thought to originally)

As for me, This company's games Suck! badof transla6tion to me is was excusable never on site of games!! F'ing Horrible!!! Plus, unable to 'save' your game...what a joke!! This company must view their target market as illiterate morons who CAN and WANT to spend all their time playing the same levels over and over and over....
