Hi Noelene

I can't really comment on thi becasue i've never played the game for more than a few hours. I have several thousand games, so rare;y revist these casual games once I've checked them over for this review. I'd post a comment in the game discussion forums. You're more lkely to get help from one of the regulars. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe check the Playrix forums as well.

This game is so fantastic it becomes addictive after awhile. The bright, colorful pictures are interesting and very detailed. Great game!

No issues here. My daughter and wife love the game. The only issue is that they keep asking me: "When will the DLCs be out?" LMFAO!!!

I just finished this game, and lurved it! I couldn't stop playing it until I was done. I thought the harder clues like "found in a forest" added a tiny extra challenge that I enjoyed. Even better, the pictures were clear enough that I didn't have to lean towards the screen and squint to try to figure out what I was looking at. Thank you for offering this on the giveaway of the day!

@#51, MAJ: Click Options, then CLEAR the 'Custom Cursor' checkbox, then click OK. NOTE: all the controls 'glow' when the pointer is over them, so you DON'T need to be able to see the pointer to make this change. ;)

Hope that helps!

I am still getting the black screen with audio problem. I have tried all of the suggested fixes, with no success. The computer is a Dell Inspiron N4110 (14 inch). It has an Intel HD Graphics video chip, with plenty of video memory. Is there a fix for this chip?

Check to see if the setup files are still within the installed games folder. back them up elsewhere then check to see if the game works. If it does you can delete the files.

Good morning. To all those who wonder if this is a new "Premium" version, I believe it is NOT.

I have downloaded and installed today's giveaway, and compared it with the giveaway of 2011-09-19 and all directories and files within seem identical with today's.

It was a poor choice for Playrix to include the word "Premium" in the title. I had been a great fan of Playrix, but this has caused confusion and delay. That is not so great.

Upon viewing the adverts for Playrix (above) it would seem that they may be adding phrases such as "Collectors Edition" and "Premium" to existing titles. Perhaps it's an attention-grabbing ploy.

I would suggest that Playrix stick with the original titles. Thank you.

Cheers.

..........................Moderator comment..................

Thanks for your feedback Mr Snoozles. It's odd that no one has mentioned this over the course of the giveaway. I was confused as to whether there was extra content added. The previous giveaway was also labelled as a Premium Edition. I'n not sure, but I do think there was some additional content added to the premium version, that is the times seek and find levels where for example you get 60 seconds to find all the gold in the image. I do not remember this being in the original version prior to the Premium being added to the sales title. Though the actual title of the game remains unchanged. If I have time I may contact Playrix over these name changes and ask what exactly are the differences (if any). I'll report back via the thread I've posted in the game discussion forums. :)

I've always found Playrix games to be bright, cheerful and playable, so I have a number of them now. This one I had on a previous computer, so I was quite pleased to see it come around again, and downloaded it.

But - I couldn't believe it! I had the same problem that I had with "Royal Envoy". The game downloaded and appeared to install as usual, but when I tried to play it, all I got was the black screen. The music was playing, but there was nothing visible, and once again I couldn't use ESC to close it, I had to summon the Task Manager.

It's very odd, particularly since there was a Playrix in between these two, which installed and played perfectly. Anyway, I'll have another go with it after I close and re-start the computer a bit later. Although, sadly, this didn't help with the other one.

I had never had any problems with Giveaways before these two, which makes it all the more annoying! But I'll keep them for now, just in case I can find a way round it.

Hello Basilica,

Have you read the FAQ's thread over in the game Discussion forums? I've posted a link to it in my review @ comment #1. (just below the conclusion). Please also read other comments made today as there may have been a fix mentioned that will work for you; (you didn't say whether you'd tried any of the fixes).

If you don't find any fixes, I've created a thread over in the 'Game Discussion' forums where users can post anything related to today's giveaway; you'll find the thread via the following link:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/11747

I hope you get the game working. Definitely a good idea to keep it installed as I'm sure a fix will be found (assuming the ones suggested already don't/ or didn't work). :)

I suspect that some setting on my computer is causing this problem, but the cursor disappears whenever I play a Playrix game. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what could be causing this? Possibly a checkbox under Performance Options > Visual Effects tab? I can move the mouse around and click on things...but, because I can't see the cursor I have to explore (with frustration).

Apart from the video card (I've got 2 x NVIDIA GTX 580 Phantoms - said Black widow earlier, but that's my keyboard, lol) my system specs appear to be the same as yours. Have you tried playing the game in a different resolution? That seems the most likely candidate. Otherwise make sure your graphic drivers and Direct X are up to date. Also try disabling desktop composition and/or visual themes via the Properties/compatibility tab (right click on the games executable to bring up the drop down menu and select properties.

Oh wow, didn't realise this was the premium edition (or more likely I didn't realise it was different from the copy I own), so I am downloading it anyway. GGotD really is a great idea as I recently made my first purchase direct from Playrix (Gardenscapes Mansion Makeover) rather than waiting for it to come to Big Fish or Wild Tangent. I definitely feel warmer to the developers who come on here and offer a decent game for free. We could do with a Facebook app for GGotD like we have for GotD (I have that app) as I would be happy to allow it to post the giveaways to my 1000+ gamer friends on there, might bring in some new "customers" ;o)

...........................Moderator comment......................

Nice one; the more community members we have the wider the message spreads and the more likely more gamer's will respond to getting some games for free by possibly purchasing other games that the giveaway developers have developed. This in turn may mean more games given away. Yeaaaah! ;-)

Once again I tried to install one of Playrix's programs, and once again all I get is the dreaded black screen. It is time for Playrix to come to the plate and realize that they have a problem with their software. It is also time for GOTD to stop offering Playrix's software until they get their problem fixed. Two out of three of Playrix's software only gives the black screen. This is totally unacceptable. Playrix should not even offer their software to anyonme until they get the bugs resolved. Totally unacceptable and inexcusable.

what I don't like about this game is the gold levels. playing on laptop, as likely many people do now days, can only find about 10 items in the time due to slowness of mouse pad. Otherwise had many enjoyable hours builtind my tanks.

Downloaded and installed fine on Win7/64 Home. It was actually a reinstall over the previous one in my case because I didn't realize I had it on this laptop. When I started it up, I'd already decorated the tanks. This what a bad memory looks like! At least I can confirm that reinstalling over the top of the previous giveaway didn't change anything, still got my tanks and points.

I enjoy hidden object games, especially from Playrix, and like the extra ability to decorate the tanks. It would be nice if the games would use my tanks as a background but I realize that would be more complicated and therefore expensive. I agree with whoever said the objects seem two dimensional and hard to find. Sometimes I have to go inch by inch around the screen just trying to identify the objects before I can attempt to find what's hidden. But it's good exercise for my old brain, so I keep working at it.

I can't comment on the story because I never pay attention and either skip or click through that part as fast as I can. It's not only this game, but all of them. I just want to play the game.

I like that I can turn sounds and music off. As I've said before, I don't get the point of including music with games. I often play games while watching TV and I have a music player on my computer to play whatever I want, so there's no need to have music added to every game and create bigger downloads. But some people seem to like it so as long as I can turn it off, I'm fine.

I really like the Fishdom games, so appreciate the giveaway. Thanks Playrix and GGOTD!

A nice, fun game! Thank you! :)

We like searching for things, and also populating and furnishing the tanks.

The one thing we would like improved is the name of some of the objects, which get a description instead of the name, like "cleans floors" instead of "broom" (for example).

My wife loves these type of games, and has an earlier version of this. I thought I'd try it today, on my computer, and found it quite engaging! I don't think I would have been able to continue to find the Hidden Objects, if it weren't for the aquariums. I found myself spending a leisurely hour or so with this. As this is my first HOG, that is quite a bit of time. The graphics are excellent, and I like the fact that it obviously sharpens you powers of observation, as my wife came in about 45 minutes into my gameplay, and promptly shamed me with her lightning fast skills...that is the first time that has ever happened to me! It is a nice game for the family, the option to select different users is a nice feature. All in all, even if you don't think you'll like it, try it, you may be surprised.

Thanks again to Playrix, I have a few of their games, and find all of them well done and entertaining! And, as always, thanks GAOTD team!

BTW-clean browser cache at end of every day as part of my daily cleaning chores. (sometimes a couple of times a day if doing heavy research)

I download, play and delete a lot of games plus other files almost daily and find it is easier to clean everything up on the computer just before shutting down. Keeps everything nice and tight, fast and no wasted space.

...................Moderator comment......................

Have you de-fragged your drive recently? If you do a lot of installing and deleting, files can become fragmented and leads to an unstable system.

Comment 28 Moderator Response.

Can't get into our forums here. Lost (can't remember) password I used and when I tried to re register it told me I can't as I already exist.

Can't remember which email I used to set it up so sent all the ones I have used (5) over the past few years to support. They emailed me 3 days later and requested the Name I used. Responded to that with CabLady and copies of previous email and still haven't heard from them almost 2 weeks later.

So I can't respond to WR on the forums. It's been so long now I can't remember what we were discussing! (Sorry WR-old timers disease!) But I really would like to be able to post again. Anyway that's my sad story :(
Would be great if you could nudge 'em a weensy bit.

If you can see the email addy on the comment form that is the address I will be using.

..........................Moderator comment...........................

I'll see if I can find your account. I'm one of the admin on th forums so can change passwords if necessary. I'll email you the new password once i've sorted it. I'm busy for a few days, so it may take a while. If i forget, please remind me next week. (The morphine I take really messes with my memory.

p.s.

I presume you are using the same name here as in the forums?

edit...

I think I've found your account. Did you use an email starting with Ann. and location beginning with G? If you can confirm that this is your account i'll email you your password. you can then change it to whatever you wish.

edit 2....
okay I've edited the password to include your profile name and the state you live in all in lower case and all one word. you can change it at your leasure. Let me know if you are now able to get into the forums. :)

... Though I mention in comment #32 that I had decided, a few months ago, not to spend money for this game... this is only because I am the kind of HOG player who likes a good mix of HO + aventure & exploration... I like HO games with a consistent storyline, some kind of mystery, unexplained things waiting to be uncovered, and a gameplay not too repetitive/systematic, etc... Also, because I do now have so many HO games, I try to privilege games who tend to offer surprising / innovative experience (vs. all those too many "too classical" HO games) :)

Considering the "not-classical" experience, Fishdom H2O - Hidden Odyssey would definitely fit what I'm looking for. But for the rest, it is not so true... But still, I find it has quite a number of good assets, and looks interesting and worth a try :) And when it's given for free, that would be a pity not to get it.

Glad to see this game again. I had no trouble downloading it on my Win 7 Home pro x64. I think this is an different version cause the tanks are different but the HOG screens are the same. Play it often and you end up knowing where everything is... That's the only thing that is bad about it. The graphics are good.

Thanks for your reply to my earlier comment (#32)

Well, I assume I have admin privileges. Anyway, since I use Windows 7, whenever I do something (let's say) "risky", I get a pop-up window asking me if I'm sure I wanna do this, and if I'm entitled to do it. And I click "yes/continue". That's why (but maybe I'm wrong...) I consider I have admin privileges.

BTW, does your reply mean that maybe I had found the way to change the language settings ?! ... On the other hand, after reading again the license document, it says clearly that we are not allowed to make any kind of changes to the files... That's why I decided to give up... and take this opportunity to train my English ;)

Hi Anne

Please go to my review at comment #1 and click on the link that will take you to the frequently asked questions thread in the game discussion forums. (You'll find the link just over the conclusion and above the game recommendations).

You may need to use a different file archiver such as 7 Zip. (I've listed several free ones in the FAQ's section); or you may need to make sure Internet Explorer is not set to work offline.

If you are using Firefox or one of the other browsers such as Chrome or Waterfox, you'll need to find the Internet Explorer (I.E.) icon which is usually found in the Programs Files (x86) or Program Files folder. Open up I.E. then click on File. look to the bottom of the drop down menu and un-check the work offline. That should cure the problem.

If neither of these solutions solves the problem please do post again.

So many new comments since this morning ! ;) Well, this game is very pleasant. I am not as comfortable in English as many of you... so let me say that I agree with everything Saetana said in comment # 10. I would like to add, however, that this time this is an HOG, though Fishdom games are usually match-3 games (great !! I don't like too much match-3 games). The game is very colorful. It's amazing to create one's own aquarium... with fishes, plants, and ornaments. We can even use our aquarium as our own screensaver !! Such a good idea !!

Anyway, I feel it can be quite redundant in the long-term, despite the variety of HO puzzles. As well, I found it quite "annoying" that the only reason why we went for a new dive was always : get money in order to buy new items for the aquarium. That's why I had decided NOT to buy it after trying it a few months ago. And yet, the game was pleasant, amusing... the fishes and turtle are also so cuuute !!! So, as the game is given away for free today, I'm very happy to get it. And I'm sure I'll enjoy playing it from time to time !

As for the other language possibilities... first, and like I said earlier, I am really not an expert with computers. I found easily the folder for French language. I had downloaded the game for a free trial from a French game site (final location should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\Fishdom H2O - Hidden Odyssey\base\local\...). I tried to copy-paste the "French" folder. Obviously it was not enough, and the game was still in English... I thought maybe I should change "English" to "French" in the file "settings.ini"... But I don't have the rights for that. I tried to replace the "settings.ini" with the one from the French website. As well, it did not work. And each time I tried to start the game after changing something, I got an error message... So, after installing, uninstalling, then re-installing the game many times, I give up... and I will play in English :D

This is a radical departure from what I typically play. You'll usually find me in games like Call of Duty, Crysis, Battlefield +++. But every now and again, I enjoy to sit back and find something that actually relaxes me instead of tensing me up.

With that in mind, plus the calming graphics that the game provides, it's a keeper. I've never been a huge fan of "hunt and click" games but this one is proving to be an exception. I also like the screensaver feature, although I haven't used it yet.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this. Thanks.

I am much the same when it comes to gaming, though I would also add games like Skyrim, Oblivion Fallout 3 etc to the pot. I find playing arcade games are a welcome break from the killing etc of those action and RPG games. The indie scene is one of my favorite haunts these days; checking out the latest games, many of which offer much more interesting game play that the stock arcade games (HOG's, TM's, Point & Click adventure games and Match Three games), though I do enjoy some of each of those genres, especially mixed genres like Puzzle Quest (Match 3 plus RPG elements)

Well, can't really play with a 64mb video card but thought you might be amused by this screen shoot.

http://www.fileswap.com/dl/u28BJwlXUO/FishdomHOG.jpg.html

As you can see I was able to find some of the vases even though the dive screen is a mess of graphic boxes. Got all but 3 objects in the first dive screen also. Tried all the usual but of course it didn't work. Sigh..for a new computer!

Saw the comment about objects being hard to find but can't agree with that at all considering my situation.

Still can't get to the forums. Got a response asking for more info 3 days after contacting support, which I sent, but it's been over a week and I still haven't heard back. Don't know if you know these folks but if you do would appreciate a mention to check their email. My reply included their original messages.

.......................Moderator comment.....................

When you say you can't get to the forums, do you mean the giveaway forums? Also do you mean you are unable to log in, or you can't access the site at all? If it's the latter try clearing out your internet/browser cache. If you're not sure how to do that it's easier if i post a link to a site that can explain it that type out the procedure becasue it alo depends o what browser you are using as to where to go to clear it out. You may be surprised at how much rubbish there is saved in that folder a swell as other temporary folders.

http://www.bnl.gov/itd/webapps/browsercache.asp

The first time I cleared out all my temp folders I recovered almost 20GB of space and that was when large discs were not available, I think my biggest disc at the time was an 80GB disc running with a 60 and a 40GB. now I have around 8TB on my main computer alone and that's not counting the external drives that I use, (8TB equals 8000 GB) that's like having 100 x 80GB drives, lol.

Had a bit of trouble at first; it shut down as soon as I tried to go full screen. tried compat settings, emptied things etc., finally tinkered w/ resolution & worked out a compromise. It doesn't seem to work at any of my higher res's which surprised me, as most games stay ahead of the curve on visuals.
That groused about, I've enjoyed all the Fishdoms, and this one has its own charms. I particularly like the different styles of finding things, sharpening the old noodle here. The items are challenging to find, but not aggravatingly so, especially compared to many HOGs with dark themes and darker objects. I am tired of all the horror; colorful little fishies are a pleasant diversion. My vision is plummeting and my hands are shaky & slow, so even relaxed mode is stretching for me! I mercilessly tweak the gamma and color settings to bring out as much contrast as possible, which helps me with the soft-focus style here.

I appreciate Playrix's continued generosity to us here, and have bought & paid for some of their games when I can scrape up some extra pence.
I absolutely appreciate GAOTD, and, Whiterabbit, your clear and thorough presentations are always a joy!

Ta for now; MissKittyWamPuss says 'enough playin' wit da fish, FEED ME!'

I loved the previous two fishdom titles given away, although sadly no longer have. They were excellent match three games. Although this is a HOG it still retains the charm of what is essentially Fishdom. I missed my virtual aquariums, so am delighted to have another easy, and pleasant to play game :D

The Fishdom games are surprisingly captivating even for an experienced HO player like myself. It's basic as far as HO go, but relaxing with the music and setting. The only problem I have is that the game loads and moves very slow for me. This is puzzling as I play a lot of complex computer games and have a newer, fast laptop. Fishdom is the ONLY game that does this on my laptop. The "loading" page takes so long I usually leave the computer and come back. Then the transition from scenes moves so slow it gets stuck at times. The game never freezes completely so I am still able to play but it does detract from the pleasure of the game. Still a great offering. Thanks GGOTD

Hello Heidi, thank you for your feedback - try using the free Game booster from IOBit. It may be that you lack RAM, or that there's a program conflicting with this game, causing it to run slow. Also try playing it in a different resolution.

You can download Game booster via the following link;

Ugh. An Astro-Gemini screensaver at GAOTD and a hidden object game, a genre I really don't care much for at all. Obviously not my day. Still, if you're a fan of this type of game, it's hard to go wrong with Playrix games. They're always well designed and constructed, giving hours of enjoyment, and well worth downloading.

Hiya and Thank You Playrix and Game.GAOTD this is a great fun game (both of us play this ).
Game play: good fun
Graphics :great
Install :really easy
Portability :folder moves around easily on my OSes
Registration : N/A (hassle free)

The HD Premium starting at version 1.04 of this game has multiple languages :)
Languages: English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish

At 100Mb light of the Full Premium HD with other languages the installer appears to be in English only. (*\Program Files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\Fishdom H2O - Hidden Odyssey\base\local\English)

Can Playrix get back to us on available language files for all languages on this GAOTD . There's no really info on their site
however iTunes have the Version 1.0.6 ($6.99)which is Multi6
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fishdom-h2o-hidden-odyssey/id411156071?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
Without looking a gift horse in the mouth and being a bit cheeky can we get that version ?

9/10 Language support would have got it 10/10.
Suggestion:
would have been easy to compile to a single exe and have it clean on any system .

Unfortunately we only get the English version; however it may be possible to transfer the necessary files from a demo of the language you require assuming you can find one, that is by trial and error swap over files from the demo to the installed English full version. with a bit of luck you may find it works. Though I suspect it's not possible. Still it's worth a try if you really want the language you are most comfortable with.. I would recommend installing the game twice before the giveaway ends so that you can experiment on one of the copied. Most giveaways end up with a reg file in the games folder, so that become free standing. GMMan would probably be able to explain it better though.

All that said I'm not sure whether you'd be breaking the terms and conditions of the game you've installed via the giveaway version. (too tired to check into the legality of it)

Thank you GGAOTD and Playrix. I got the download in 2011 and still have it installed so it must be good! It is very colorful and the graphics of the ocean's floor is fantastic. If you are a lover of HOG (hidden objects game), you will find this one an asset to your collection as I do. Playrix is batting a 1000 on GGAOTD with another great contribution. Keep up the good work, Playrix!

Downloaded. Installed. On starting program, got a black screen but could hear music. Tried different screen resolutions; tried disabling visual themes; tried disabling the display scaling on higher dpi settings and disabling the desktop composition; tried compatibility modes for XP. Gave up.

I have played Playrix Games before but never experienced problems before. For developer's information, I'm using the following:

Acer Aspire 4755G laptop running on Windows 7 Home Premium.
Specs:
Intel i7-2670QM CPU
RAM: 8GB
System type: 64-bit OS

Hope that helps.

Hi mornsoon, have you checked the capabilities of the graphics chip on your laptop? you require at least a 128Mb Graphics RAM to run the game. You can see the result if it's less than this, for example Cab lady posted a link to an image of the game running on 64bit. Black screen. It could also be a compatibility issue with other programs running in the background. open up your task manager and try shutting down non essential programs one at a time, then try the game each time you've closed a program down. Game Booster can do this quite nicely, closing down all non essential services while playing a game, plus you can program it to shut down other non windows programs. It's free and I've already linked to it just above or below your post give or take several comments;

Only had a few minutes to play it right now but I love what I have seen. I'm looking for games that I can play as well as for my 6 yr old. I think he will love this and will get hours of enjoyment from it. My biggest problem is that for some reason I can not get my laptop to make a connection to my router in order to download it on there for him when we go on vacation this summer. Such a huge disappointment. (Not the games fault at all.) I personally love HOG games so I hope to see more like this in the future.
Thanks GAOTD and Playrix!

Hello Michaels Mom,

Try searching the net for connection problems. you may just need to refresh the laptop to connect to the internet. Click on the network link either in your Start menu list or in the control panel. Starting from there you should be able to set the laptop up to reconnect. I presume it's been connected before via a network card or dongle?

I downloaded this a while back when it was offered. I still play it when I'm looking for something to do during downtime! The storyline is not all that interesting and the voice acting is third rate, but the game itself is entertaining. Whether it's 10 minutes or 2 hours, I can count on this game.

If you want something with continued playability I would recommend this game. I also play the first Fishdom by Playrix as well.

I have a new Toshiba Satellite laptop. The game downloads and installs but will not run. I too get the black screen. I changed the screen resolution but that didn't correct it, I get a 'runtime error' and to see manufacturer.. I checked and am running Direct X 11. I changed the compatibility mode and that didn't resolve this issue. Any and all suggestions will be most appreciated. I had this on my other computer that quit on me.
Thanks, Kate

Hi, thanks for your help and your kind comments. Unfortunately, nothing worked, and I really tried everything you told me to, up to the DirectX thing. I looked in my computer and by Chip Type it says "INTEL(R) HD Graphics Family", so neither NVIDIA nor AMD. And I don't understand, my laptop is quite new (4 months old), it should function with the latest programs without problems, I've been able to enjoy all the hidden-object games you have offered recently. I guess I'll just pass on this one, because I am really afraid to try changing anything else on my computer. I wouldn't know how to fix any problems afterwards or how to revert to the previous state. Thank you anyway. I am glad this site exists and I visit it almost every day.
