OMG!!! I LOVE this Fishdom game. I am SO hooked (tee hee) on this that it keeps me up at night. NOTHING ever keeps me up so that says a lot!
I just love it when the fish stop to look at something in the tank and little red heart bubbles float up from the fish!!! AWESOME game!

11/29/2010 - Game update:

Installed on HP Windows 7 desktop system.

Installed fine.
game has run great.
Playability: My wife loves this game, She plays it almost daily.

issues: There is one annoying bug. Occasionally, the screen saver, included with the game lock's up. It appears to be linked to either a conflict with HP's "PC Doc" application or AVG anti-virus.

symptoms: the screen saver loader bar hangs up somewhere about 10% through the resources loader bar and hangs there. The music plays, but the screen saver never loads. The only way to get out of it is to ALT-TAB back to the windows operating system and right click on the task bar and select "CLOSE WINDOW"

Otherwise the application is great.

Why don't you try also to get Wonderlines. My daughter is dreaming to have this one for more than a year now. And I cannot find it at the local store. That would please her very much.

check out the links I posted at the end of my comment above (#1); you may find something similar to wonderlines there. :)

I love this game. It is simple and yet so entertaining. I didn't know this one. I must show it to my daughter. She usually prefer the 3D Tomb Raider kind of games but I know she loves fish games.
I am delighted that your site is back on.

I have the same problem as no. 53:

Error: cannot read start0.lua: No such file or directory

.\ScriptMap.cpp, line 42

This happens every time, when the screensaver tries to start.
I'm on Windows 7, 32 bit.
No idea what I could do apart from disabling the sreensaver.

Greetings from Germany

I have played, and played and played this game, wondering when I would reach the end, only to find there is no end. What I would like to know is since there are only 3 tanks and limited accessories, what do you do with all the money after you finish your tanks? I only have over $700,000 in winnings.

Thanks,

I found it out!!!!

It's the screensaver, that doesn't work
at the moment the screensaver wants to startup the mesage arrives

Disactivating screensaver, and option in game should do it.
Will let tomorrow know if the problem came back.

For all nice to know i gues. :-)

I can't get this to download/open. I keep getting errors from Windows saying it can't open the zipped file. I use 7-Zip and have no probs with other dls from this site or others. I have tried using Google Chrome & IE and neither works. I think for some reason the dl is corrupt. I really wish I could get it to work b/c I love this game.

I have two games by Playrix and both of them seem to be great fun except after playing one or two levels they send my screen black and I get the message that my monitor has gone into power save. I can hear the game playing and I cannot shut it down. I have to hit the power off button and then restart the computer. Doesn't do that with any other games I play and I leave my computer on all day and it never goes into power save. I do not have power save enabled in the bios. Any suggestions?

Thumbs up! Some unique approaches to the subject matter, like chains replacing the standard walls you have to crack and so forth. Lacks the extra content that the historically based games have that add additional entertainment and give children some extra enjoyable learning. I hear this is quite popular. For match3 addicts, probably a must download.

@Di
Make sure that you do not have Internet Explorer in off-line mode.
That can seem even more far fetched than some of the tips from Whiterabbit ;-) but the GOTD decrypter apparently uses some Windows component that IE blocks in off-line mode.

@#26: This is probably something to do with the game changing screen resolution and Windows not 'replacing' the icons afterwards.

There's a simple freeware utility called DesktopOK (from SoftwareOK.com) which you can use to save your current icon positions, etc. so that if 'some program' stuffs up your layout, you can simply reload it later.

I'm pretty sure there's a 'portable' version of DesktopOK as well as the standard one. I can also personally recommend DesktopOK for fixing precisely the problem you describe!

I should add that I have no connection whatever with the developer of DesktopOK, other than as a satisfied user of his freeware.

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"

Go to Microsoft's site and download the latest version of Visiual C++. I'm not sure whether you have to delete the original. Please let me know if it worked. Thank you. You should also reinstall the game once you've updated the runtime library. :)

I have downloaded and started the game & it seems like a game my wife would like as well because she likes collapse & it seems there is a little of collapse in this game. the only problem I have I tried it to get a feel of the game though with no time to spend with it at the moment & I could not find a way to close the game & continue after, and actually, I cannot find a way to shut the game down at all within the ui. I had to use taskmanager to shut the game down. Can anybody out there help me?

.................Moderator comment.........................

When you're in game click on the blue menu button to the top right of the screen. that brings up an oblong window with options to resume, Exit to tank, restart or go to the options menu. click on the Blue button labelled Exit to Tank. (It's the third one down). Once you're in the tank you can shut down the game by clicking on the blue main menu button that's found in the lower left hand corner. Then the red button in the same position. (labelled Exit). I hope this helps. alternatively you can play in windowed mode and simply click on the X at any time.

I download the game. I open the setup exe and it goes to the "activating" screen where it says "Connecting to game.giveawayoftheday.com checking giveaway availability", in a couple of minutes small screen comes on "Giveaway of the day" Failue to connect. Please try again later."

Are you having troubles or is there something wrong on my end. Internet has been working fine all day. Want to make sure I can get this downloaded before end of day. Thank you.

.......Moderator comment..............

Please excuse the delay in writing, I was a little busy and didn't realize how late it was.

No there hasn't been a problem with the giveaway end.

Try rebooting your modem and/or router. If that doesn't work it could be that the cookie specific to the game giveaway site may be corrupted. Just delete it via the internet properties and that should fix the problem. Let us know whether any of the fixes worked; thank you.

Such fun! I got Fishdom 2 recently, and thought I'd like to have the original, and here it is!

I did have a bit of a problem with the download/install: the first time I downloaded from the first d/l link, got activated okay, but the game wouldn't install, and I got this message on the GOTD page after the successful activation message:

"Warning: require(/home/vhosts/game.giveawayoftheday.com/wp-content/themes/default/setup_ticker.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/vhosts/game.giveawayoftheday.com/wp-content/themes/giveaway/single.php on line 107

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/vhosts/game.giveawayoftheday.com/wp-content/themes/default/setup_ticker.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php') in /home/vhosts/game.giveawayoftheday.com/wp-content/themes/giveaway/single.php on line 107"

Then I deleted all the d/l files, amd re-downloaded from the Mirror Link, and it activated and installed okay, but I still got the same error message as above. The game seems to be playing just fine, tho.

I'm running XP Pro SP3, with plenty of resources.

Thanks for another good one!

I am currently sick in bed having just gotten out of the hospital and this is the perfect game to occupy/distract me. I've played some of the other Playrix Match-3 games such as Around the World in 80 Days and a couple of the Atlantis games and enjoyed them immensely. Fishdom is not quite on their level but it is still a fun and worthy download. The added element of the fish tank with this one is a nice touch.

A fun and relaxing game. Installed without a problem on Vista Home Premium (x86). Every game that has been offerred from Playrix on GGAOTD has worked well for me and has been enjoyable. I like the care they take in the construction of the game, the game play, and especially the background sounds they use - the clicks, the pops and all the other assorted sounds that are never annoying but give good audible clues that you've clicked properly and the game is working right.

wonderfull game,

Downloaded, installed and playing.
thought i wanted to test only but ended up playing 39 levels to complete my first 'golden' screen saver.

All levels at one go, only two levels were a bit time critical, but mostly very well playable.

For me just as addictive as around the world for me :-)

I think that many of you love it also, have fun with it.

Thanks for the game(s) team. Big Merci from France

.....................Moderator comment....................

All game giveaways are rigorously tested for malware. I'm presuming your security software is stopping the game from being downloaded. It's almost certainly a false positive. If you really want the game i'd give it permission to install, or turn your security off until the game has been installed. As a precaution create a restore point before you install anything .

If it's another reason why you can't download try rebooting your modem and/or router and clear out your internet cache.

One thing I don't understand about this game and a lot of other games. Why is it that when you quit the game and close it, your desktop icons are ALWAYS A TOTAL MESS, TOTALLY DISORGANIZED abd screwed up?

I get to sick of having to always move all my icons back to where they were before I played the game. WHY CANT THIS GAME AND OTHER GAMES THAT MESS UP YOUR ICONS, LEAVE YOUR ICONS ALONE so that when you close the game, YOUR DESKTOP IS STILL THE WAY YOU WANT IT?????

..........................Moderator comment......................

Hi Reality check; it's probably the way you have your computer set up. I don't have that problem and I've tested the game on three different operating systems (Vista home Basic 32 bit, XP Pro 32 bit and Win 7 ultimate 64 bit and my desktop Icons remain where they are when i close the game down. If this was happening globally we would be getting a lot of complainst. sorry to hear you're not happy.

Fishdom is the most fun Match-3 game I've ever played. It starts out absurdly simple, but once you're past the opening screens, the chains and layouts make the levels more challenging, and the brightly-colored sea creatures are fun to look at. The various bombs, plus the lightning, add a measure of strategy to the game.

My favorite level is the one where nearly every square is covered by chains, so at first glance, it looks completely impossible. But once you find the right thread to pull, that unlocks one, and unlocking that one unlocks two others, and soon things start cascading all over the place. This level is very satisfying.

I've played a couple of thousand levels of Fishdom; I find it relaxing when I'm feeling overwhelmed or anxious and fun when I have only a couple of minutes to spare.

Thank you to Playrix and GAOTD for today's match-3 game offer. The download/install process was less than two minutes on Windows XP. Great can choose location; auto desktop icon, too. No problems with install or game play, in windowed or full-screen. Cute fish, simple match-3, nice screen-saver and money to shop for your tank. Game seems more aimed for children, but some adults will enjoy, too. Wish more power-ups, bonuses. Moves can cause continuous cascades so it feels like game playing itself, hope to become more involved in higher levels. As for paying up to $20.00 for this game, no - many other games available with more interaction and challenge. Thanks again : )

I now have two games Inca Balls and now this one, Fishdom. They are neat and love both. Just finished playing this one and could do it for hours - very relaxing. Like the music. I'm not much of a game player, but usually go for the "word" games, however, these two are really neat. Look forward for more. Thanks GAOTD and Playrix. Have anice day.

Am I the ONLY person here who hates match-3 games with a passion?!! Pointless and staggeringly dull waste of time, IMHO.

Come on, Steven: OTHER kinds of games ARE available!

............................Moderator comment..............................

I agree to a certain extent, though there are some match 3's that I can and do occassionally play such as 4 Elements, Around the worl in 80 days, rise of Atllantis, Treasures of Montezuma 1 & 2, Luxor 3 and others. they are ideal games to chill out to, not having to think (which I like to do occassionally). I mentioned a whole pile of excellent and innovative indie arcade games in answer to your post last week. There's a thriving community out there that are trying to create original games. unfortunately when someone hitss the jackpot a whole raft of copy cats then jump on the band wagon trying to grab a piece of the action. unfortunately this leads to a ridiculous number of games that are basically the same. (It's happened with time management, hidden object, breakout and other genres), and i'm sure it'll happen again.

Unfortunately I have no control over what the game giveaway of the day is. all i do is try to give an impartial review of the game and moderate the comments to the best of my ability.
