Thank you to all who took the time to post comments/feedback yesterday, it was appreciated. I didn't get back until the early hours of this morning so today's review is a little rushed and is missing several of my usual elements. There's a free game (ends soon) on the same lines as today's game, but far superior called Age of Wonders III via Steam HERE and don't forget to check out Epic Games weekly freebie, this week its the excellent Action RPG Torchlight (approaching its 10 year anniversary), which you'll find HERE.
Finders
In Brief
Finders is an arcade strategy/sim game.
Finders-001

Finders-002
Introduction:
Carve a path through an unforgiving wilderness to rescue a hero trapped by a villain! For years, the valiant Altair safeguarded the world from disaster and ensured a peaceful, prosperous existence for mankind. But a madman bent on doing evil figured out a way to confine him. In the wake of Altair's disappearance, disaster struck Earth, with one calamity after another shaking the planet to its core. Now you must lead a band of brave workers on an epic adventure to find the hero, using the cryptic clues on an ancient artifact to guide the way.
To endure the harsh conditions, you will learn to take what you need from the land. Gathering food and water, housing your workers, and mining gold from tunnels will make each new level a breathtaking challenge unlike any you have experienced. As you balance time and resources, you'll also invent clever machines to accomplish special tasks, make friends with a Yeti, and prepare for the impending showdown against your enemy. Developed to provide gamers with a thrilling and accessible adventure, Pathfinders will provide hours of unforgettable fun!

Finders-004
Gameplay:
Following plane crash on an island your task is to find the hero Altair. to do this you’ll need to recover the artifact that can release Altair from his alternate reality prison. You also need to and take care of the survivors of the air disaster.
Today's game Finders is a fusion of several popular genres such as Time Management and Strategy with some Adventure and Puzzle elements thrown in. It’s similar to other strategic sim games like Virtual Villagers.
On the left side of your screen, you will find a list of tasks you need to complete. Each task will reward you with experience points that enable you to level up to the next land. These tasks range from easy to challenging. For example you will need to send workers to perform several tasks such as building houses/tents to accommodate your population, finding food and water your people and searching for raw materials such as wood and gold as well as curing your people when they become ill.
The developer has included features such as the ability to send your workers to the forest to chop wood and find food that you often find in some rts empire building games like Age of Empires and Cossack's: Art of War plus there are several different types of mini games available such as match 3’s although most of them are quite simple and nothing extraordinary.
Finders-005

Finders-006
The game starts out very slowly and continues in the same vein throughout the game. What’s more frustrating is that the tutorial is totally inadequate; telling you very little about what to do next, so the first hour of the game is basically trying to figure out what’s going on and what to do next.

p.s. After installing, taking some screen captures for the review then closing the MyPlayCity version of the game down this morning, I found my desktop badly messed up (duel monitor display).

Whiterabbit-uk, There's a very nice, simple bit of freeware called DesktopOK which can save and restore your desktop layout. I run this every time I change my desktop; then, if another program (usually a game lol!) disrupts or "re-arranges" the icons, I can easily load the saved layout and normality is very quickly and efficiently restored!
I have no relation with the writer of that software, other than as a very satisfied user who now NEVER suffers the "messed-up desktop" problem!
Hope you find that helpful for the future.

Ok Windows 10 x64 Pro. Nice little game play, design, bit novel as to the fetch, build, chores, grow concept in how it handles assigns. So from just fast look there's enough variation to hold me initially and keep for now. Smooth game play & w/o the time pressure it's gonna be fun to do levels. The two mentioned freebie Steam games both look ok and recent enough to still have some juice. Me, not interested in the big boy super fat GB ones anymore since not enough time to devote to them for max joy. Hence these GOTD pick up for a fast level once a day and get back to plans. If I wear out no biggie compared to mega hours people get wrapped up in. Rather watch a top tennis match while doing painting or PC work. Thanks GOTD & reviewers. Oh & it makes a desktop icon unlike today's Robot data recovery which didn't. Maybe since installed to a F: drive, dun no.

Hi everyone,

I really like Finders as it allows you to play at your own pace and develop things as quickly or as slowly as you like.

My daughter bought this for me from a game site upon its release and we've both played it and recommend it (we share an account there).

Neither of us have ever experienced the messed up desktop as others have mentioned though.

If you enjoy exploration, city or village building, with just a little bit of a challenge (no enemies that I can recall) and a game you could play with your children or grandchildren, you can't go wrong with this game.

I give it 10 of 5 stars.

I agree with White Rabbit re: the 2 games being offered free. Torchlight is a wonderful game, I can't begin to tell you how many times I've explored it and enjoyed every time. Age of Wonders III similarly is wonderful in its own right and will give you a lot of great experience. I've owned both of these for quite a long time and find both to be quite relaxing and fun.

Thanks to My Play City for giving us Finders. Many people who like to take their time with games, as I do should find it fun.

Happy Gaming everyone.

Like this type of game and the relaxed mode. Nice graphics. As mentioned for some reason it messes up the desktop. Hope the free program suggested will solve that

Finders is a game where you build your own community in your own time.

On the left they give you tasks and you fulfil them as you go along. Once you've completed the task you click on it again and then click FINISH and it will complete that task and give you the next one.

While some of the workers are busy with the task the others can do whatever you choose for them to do - gather resources etc. You can only assign a task if you have a free worker, but because you're playing at your own pace and not against a clock that doesn't matter in this particular game.

What they don't tell you in time is that until you've built a storehouse gathering resources seem to go nowhere - once you've built the storehouse you can find your resources in there. Then you have to allocate the food from there - click on the yellow storehouse - then click on the resources as they're shown.

If the workers run out of food they start walking / working very slowly - then you need to just allocate more food / water from the storehouse and they walk and work faster. You can also increase the speed of a task by allocating more resources - but be careful about doing this before your storehouse is built because you'll run out.

Also keep exploring the map - as more areas are opened as you go. You click and drag to explore more areas.

It's a fun, relaxed game and worked well so far as what I've played it - about 30 minutes in.
