Feeder Of Life:

In Brief:
Feeder Of Life is a first person walking simulator.

The Game:
I've only played the game briefly as I was up all night playing my favourite game of the moment (Fallout 76) and after a cat nap I'll be really busy for most of today. However I did get a few moments so that I could take some screen captures and to clear up a few things, which I've mentioned below.

You control a character in first person that is carrying a present around with him/her. You start off in the Winter months with snow covering the ground and you are in the middle of a massive forest, with trees fairly evenly spread and surrounded by towering mountains.

There is a portal in the shape of one of Stone Henge's columns with symbols that transports you between Summer and Winter. Santa has asked for your help in delivering presents. When you first spawn, there are a couple of portals, one of which has collapsed as well as two large flat stones standing vertically; reminiscent of the black monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey that when approached will either bring up a message from Santa, or a shop that says it's closed. My English Literature teacher used to read Science Fiction stories to us as it was the last period on a Friday and I always remember him reading The Sentinel, which the movie 2001 was based on. He got me into reading Science fiction and I soon had a reasonably large collection of (initially) Asimov, Heinlein and Clarks novels. My local book store got so used to me spending most of my paper round money on Sci Fi books he would sometimes give me copies for free and would let me know when they were getting new titles in. I used to pass the book store on the way home from school, so often spend a good hour in there perusing the books. Sadly the book shop closed before the turn of the century.

The first house you can deliver to is easily seen because the large red chimney like structure can be seen from the portal (see the fifth and eleventh images); however, most of the other homes are hidden amongst the evergreen forest. Walk up to the houses and deliver the presents by walking to the large chimney structure. The chimney's disappear once you've delivered the present. Not all of the homes will allow you to deliver a present in the Winter side of the portal (if they don't have a chimney). You cannot deliver any presents when moving through the portal to the summer side.

The game is still in development and is in βeta at this time.

Movement is accomplished using either the WASD or arrow keys. There's no main menu, settings or help included.


You can see a video of game play HERE; however, It's not very good as the creator spent 95% of the time in the summer side of the game trying to figure out how to deliver the presents. I suspect there will be something added to that part of the game before it's full release.

Conclusion:
The graphic is quite blocky and the sky box is very low resolution and badly stitched together and very grainy; which, for me takes away from what could be a relaxing walking simulator. Some of the games mechanic at this point in time seem pointless, for example, being able to enter the houses in summer time using the E key as there's nothing to do. The summer houses do have circular markers where the chimneys should be, but they server no purpose at this time, neither does the summer side of the game apart from seeing the portal working. The shop is also useless at the βeta stage.

The only way to exit the game is to Alt+F4.

I'd be interested to see how this game develops. As it stands, I could only play the game for a short time for example during a coffee break as there's little to do at this stage in the games development.

I would suggest that the developer add more content, improve the sky box and maybe include some puzzles to solve.
