Polygon Racing
In Brief
An arcade style retro pixel racing game with four modes of play, including a local coop and a track editor. You can see a video of game play HERE
The Game
Take care not to press the red reset button unless you want to start a totally new game. It deletes all saved progress such as unlocked cars and the in game money you have earned.

There is an easy to use track editor that allows you to create your own race tracks. You can save up to three of these to use in game. When testing the custom tracks you have no other vehicles to race against.

There are four modes of play; Race Mode, Time Trial, Score Attack and Split Screen. The first Race mode opens up a customisation screen where you can select the vehicle you want to race in. Selections include Porsche Ferrari and Lamborghini though due to licensing the developer has renamed them Parsche, Farara and Lamba (otherwise he would have had to pay a hefty sum of money to use the correct names). The latter two vehicles are locked at the start of the game. You need to earn $100 per car to unlock these two.
Once you have selected your car you can customise it's colour via three sliders Hue, Saturation and Brightness (this customisation screen appears for all four modes of play). Once customised click on the cars emblem to bring up the continue button. This takes you to the track selection screen where you can choose from a short or long track, plus adjust the number of laps from 1 to 5 and the number of bots you race against from 1 to 3bots. You can also access any custom maps you have created using the track editor up to a maximum of three tracks.

The second mode time trial has two laps; the first is is a practice run, the second lap is timed. If you choose the short track you have to complete the lap in 21 seconds, for the long track it's 35 seconds.

The third mode is a score attack, where you have to pick up points by driving over cubes; each cube having a different number of points. Fail to get enough points within the time limit and you fail.

The final mode is a split screen local cooperative mode where you can race against a family or friend using the arrow or the WASD keys to race against each other. Keys for all the other three modes are the same. Earning cash from any mode is transferrable to any of the other modes.

Overall this is a well made game. It's not Project Cars, WRC World Rally Championships, Dirt, Need for Speed or one of the other big name racing franchises with respect to realism, quality and expansive game play , but it's okay for a little bit of harmless family fun. The graphic reminds me of car based games I was playing 20 years ago. The game is really easy to play and there's lots of scope with the easy to use track editor; so, I would say, this is an ideal game for the whole family, including the little un's. :-D

A big thank you goes to BD Games for giving the community two reasonable games today. :)

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game and it found zero hits from 59 antimalware engines. The downloaded executable may include some low level adware that only opens your browser to Falcowares home page after the game has installed, but does not inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to Falcowares home page it earns them some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. You can see the results of the scan via the following link:

Other Free Games:
The latest game from Epic Games is now live and is called Among Us which you'll find link to be added. It ends June 3rd at 4pm (UK time/11am EST) where it will be replaced by a mystery game. Also from Epic there are several other free to play games available; for example, If you play online with friends there's a decent PvE/PvP free FPS game called Scavengers and you can still get the clicker RPG Idle Champions as well as other multiplayer games. With respect to Idle Champions, I've been posting redeemable codes (time limited for 5 to 7 days from the day of posting) for free game chests over in the forums HERE. They contain various items that boost your heroes abilities and health as well as affect your group of heroes in game; for example potions that boost health or DPS, contracts that can improve armour or weapons already used by the heroes or other contracts that add amounts of gold that would normally take a specific time to earn if you were offline, as well as items of jewellery, armour or weapons that buff your characters stats. I don't usually play clicker type games, but this one I've been enjoying for the past few weeks and is well supported by the developer and has a massive following. I'll be posting codes for the redeemable chests for as long as I continue to play the game. I've posted some help sheets and links to a game wiki via the above link as well.

Steam have ten pages of free games that total 136 free games (at the last count). Steam including many free to play MMO's that may include extra content that you have pay for, but are not necessary to play the game (these are often called pay to win type freebies, but that's not always the case); however there are also plenty of free game that do not require in game or DLC purchases and have single player modes included. You'll find all those HERE. Steam also feature the occasional commercial game where the developer is giving away the game for a limited time period (as in Company of Heroes 2).

Please see Delenns threads for those games and other non Steam freebies (GOG, uPlay, Origin etc) HERE and HERE. It’s worth adding these to your browsers favorites and checking regularly to see if there are any new games added. They tend to be time limited so you need to grab them before the free period has ended. If you miss the deadline you may have missed out on something you'd have loved. Once added to your account, these temporary freebies are yours to keep. Delenn has recently posted details of more Indie Gala and Steam games that are temporarily free; e.g. Tower Ball - Incremental Tower Defense plus a reflex game called Keyboard Killers and Little Nightmares (thanks for the heads up Delenn) via Steam and JASEM, Chronology , Lawless Lands and Lightstrike via Indie Gala.

You'll find hundreds of freeware games of all arcade and indie genres on Itch.io and Caimans Games as well as other sources. Please do check out the game discussion forums for older posts HERE; (the sticky section is useful). Many of the earlier posts may be out of date with respect to the links I and others have provided to the free games; however, you only need to know the name of the game to find most of them via other sources. Many of those games from 2008 to around 2017 were posted as part of a project to supplement the lack of weekday games when the game giveaway went to weekend only games around Easter 2008 (mainly instigated due to the financial crisis of 2008) until November 2018 when Falcoware stepped into the weekday slot; however, from around 2015 onwards we did start to get the occasional Steam key for various games offered as limited giveaways, with a restriction on the number of keys available (anywhere from 25 to 2000+). These included over 60 decent AAA games and indie arcade games ; for example some of the better AAA games included , lucky Warhammer: Vermintide 1 & 2 plus DLC for version 2; Dreadlands, Mount & Blade: Warband, Immortal Unchained and Conan Exiles.

Indie Gala have added quite a few more free games since I last posted details of Indie Gala freebies regularily last year. Some of those games are definitely worth downloading. You can find the latest freebies HERE and Indie gala's showcase list, which includes all the freebies still current; (many of which have been included for a couple of years now) HERE.

It’s worth adding these links to your favorites and checking regularly for available freebies. Most are only free for a specific time. If you miss the deadline you’ll miss out. Once added to your account, they are yours to keep. :)

MagicMan,

:)

Unfortunately neither the page on Falcowares site or itch.io, where you can purchase this game include any information on specifications apart from it using Windows (no version mentioned). It's possible that it's a 64 bit game, but I can't confirm this; sorry.

If you want to chat, link up with my Steam account (Whiterabbit01) or my Discord server https://discord.gg/QJeUVwRj (open server so if you want to chat anyone is welcome). I don't check it every day, but leave a message if you wish to chat. w.r.t my Steam account; I don't often check requests unless I know your Steam name; (partly due to getting a lot of requests from people who just want something for free from my inventory) :)
