There is a bugs at several of the dialog points. The mine and the swamp were a couple of them. I would go through all of the dialog and the "Next" button would appear. When I clicked on the "Next" the "Game End" button displayed. When I clicked on the "Game End" button, the dialog started over. At the mine, after I went through the dialog the second time the game continued. At the swamp, I had to go through the dialog four times before it let me continue the game.

Thank you for the feedback Kenneth; hopefully the developer will pick up on these bugs and fix them.

Just not up to the Alawar standards (usually great). Maybe fix the bugs, and post it again later. Uninstalled.

Joan: There are no registry entries, so no uninstall process -- just delete the game folder.

Hi,

From what I read above the game I started may not be saved, so that would be a big drawback in play for me.
It downloaded quickly on 8.1. I looked to change the cursor, after reading of troubles above, and it does not have that option.
I then tried windowed mode and it worked better, but still a bit of an annoying lag. The game does have potential and needs to
be tweaked. I would like it to note as in other game, how much collecting of item, to tell when near finished etc.
Other than above could be a nice passing of time game! Thanks and hope all had Happy Mother's Day!

Downloaded and installed the game with seemingly no issues (Win7), however, once I start the game, my mouse disappears and I cannot do anything but press escape to exit the game. A previous game did the same thing but I was able to determine where it was by what buttons were highlighting, and was able to change the mouse settings to a regular mouse. This game did not seem to do the same thing. Oh, well, on to next weekend.

This would be a good game if the game went a little faster instead of it having to be Windowed. Being Windowed it was hard to see and concentrate.

Thanks for that. I had tried to delete it but it wouldn't let me. I kept getting the Try Again. Anyways, I did a restart of the computer and I was able to just delete it all from the files. Brain wasn't working this morning. LOL

NO UNINSTALL. ARGH.

Sorry.

.................................Moderator Comment..........................

Hi Suzanne, most giveaways lack an uninstaller. However this is becasue there's nothing, or very little written to the registry. To uninstall you just delete the installed folder. There won't be any folders installed elsewhere on your computer.

p.s. no need to apologise

I found out that the game lag can be eliminated if you change the game settings from full screen to windowed.

Also, can someone please let the developer know how to use an English Dictionary. He is using words he doesn't know the meaning of, or the spelling of, or the proper sentence structure.....

I had trouble with the first two downloads, but the third time it installed. This is such a cute game, but I do wish I didn't have to play against the clock. That is my only complaint. I have a number of distractions.

To the individual who felt a need to malign Whiterabbit:

Maybe you haven't been around this site for as many years as I have, but Whiterabbit is what is RIGHT with this site. THe site owners have pretty much abandoned the games section, and if it weren't for Whiterabbit, we'd get no reviews or comment moderation at all. I think Rabbit has been the SOLE volunteer moderator on the Games section for like 8 years. He always reserves the 1st comment for his review. So sorry if his life has started interfering, and for ONE WEEKEND out of several hundred, his life managed to get in the way of writing a review for an older game, and for one which has a lot of reviews that can be found with a quick google search.

I know I am feeding the trolls, but Whiterabbit gets far too much flack which is undeserved.

To bring this back on topic, I am not bothering with this game, simply because it lacks an untimed mode, and too many previous commenters have reported game issues. The newest in the Fishdom series has the ability to turn on/off not only the timer, but many other annoyances that folks who play games for relaxation/pain management don't always like. I may never feel the need to try a new match 3 again, as Fishdom, Depths of Time is just about the perfect match 3 for me. (If I could turn off having to feed the fish and clean the tank, it would be my absolute ideal.)

Thank you again, Whiterabbit, for keeping the games section of this site alive. Many of us who rarely speak up around these parts are extremely grateful for all you do.

.............................Moderator comment...................................

Thank you for your feedback and support. Much appreciated. You are probably right about J.S. being a new comer, or he may be the person who occasionally comes back with the odd negative comment about me. It really doesn't bother me, but I do appreciate the support. I sometimes feel like replying, and in the past i have, but these days i've managed to just let it pass over my head. (then again, maybe not as we are discussing it now, lol)

As for the game... I love fairies and match-3s and haven't had much of either lately, so down it comes! As for J.S... who ARE you? Perhaps you don't realize it, but Whiterabbit has ALWAYS been the first to post here. He's the cornerstone of this forum and takes games... ANY game... seriously. He has always selflessly given his personal time to review and moderate here, so when I saw your post of disrespect I was quite astonished. And Stephen - I've been the school route so all good luck to your son and family. For me now, it's my daughter's wedding! Now. On with gaming! (when we can fit it in)

Thanks white rabbit for being a moderator who deletes real crap from those who so not respect this family. There are times you put up with a lot which we do not hear about. Thank God for that. I persoally like you own approach of
puttng family first while keeping an eye out for this site and playing the games yourself before we do in order to give us reviews.

As an aise I was wondwering if you knew where I could purchase a Scrabble game for my pc without having to sing up ofr
a bunch of other games. I get enough games here. Some good some not so good. As a freebie it is good to get such high
game qualities at times. Myrna

I beleive you have my email white rabbit if you want to mail me later instead. Glad you are helping yur son out there.

..................................Moderator Comment...........................

Hi Myrna, Sorry for the late reply. I took a break after marking a few past exam papers and fell asleep. It's now almost 3am. leave it with me. It would be better if you PM'd me over in the forums as I'm likely to forget due to a head injury and opiate meds that I have to take. No promises, but I will see what I can do.

There's a free one via the following link, but I think you have to install toolbars to get it, plus it may be online.

http://www.playsides.com/scrabble?afid=124514&sid=scrUK&gclid=CjwKEAjwg7yqBRCu5NmlgMm6i08SJADDEudZWMEPXMNzVojlbXX8xFXaLSJBePIgXHAXfSg1E3uuYRoC2lXw_wcB

There's a phone version available from Amazon via the following link:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CXB8F0Q/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1431309794&sr=8-4&keywords=digital+scrabble

There's two versions via Gamersgate though not called scrabble, i.e. Letter Quest: Grimms Journey and Lexica, the former costs ÂŁ5.99 and the latter ÂŁ3.99. I use Gamersgate often, epscially if the game isn't available on my favorite client (Steam). Both games are also available on Steam. (Letter quest is slightly cheaper as well. The main difference is you can play the games without a client if you buy them from Gamersgate. Often you get a Steam keyt as well, so if you have a Steam account you can also add the game to your account.

I used to buy most of my arcade games from either Reflexive Arcade which was purchased sold off to Amazon or Alawar, neither of which appear to have a straight Scrabble game despite Refelxive having one available before it was purchased.

If you are into facebook there's also a facebook version:

https://www.facebook.com/ScrabbleEA

If you have a Kindle you can play the following version:

Freezes on W8, plays well on Vista. (Tried compatibel-mode inW8 to Vista, but it only freezes a little less)
Nice graphics and fun,for children of all ages. Like it when he stops and have to make a hit on the flowers, or the spring etc.
Makes it a bit different from the rest

I am usually pretty impressed by ganes from Alaware. Not this time though. I wasn't able to play the game. The game installs fine, but when opened it doesn't fill the screen. The cursor is slow. Change window-mode doesn't work. When starting the game it only shows some sort of map, but clicking on any of it's locations won't start the game. The menu doesn't show an "exit game" button (you have to close it with alt-f4). (My laptop runs on win7-starter.)

Installed on Windows 7 Pro with no issues, game loads fairly fast, and the graphics are nice. It's a bit different from the average match 3,with the rabbit not being able to move until you match the exact item, and the meteor level was interesting to play. The spelling is not great, but I can get past it,you can click and drag pieces to make matches sometimes, but clicking the pieces you want to swap works better. I'm looking forward to playing more levels in this game, and may keep it to play it more than once. Thanks GGOTD and Alawar for this one!

Ok Windows 8.1.3 x64 Pro. Yes is a bit laggy as to cursor movement. First level easy enough but second one had to do twice since matches less favorable & laggy cursor cost the level. Replay of level started easily with some gimmies, then got harder to match 3 or more. Tough at the Jump part to figure the trick. Once get enough whatevers rabbit jumps (seemed to occur at 2 places per level) then you have to dash fast on matches as time runs down. That's where laggy cursor can be a drag. See how works as games goes further. Not total full screen (like yesterday) - which got too rough & deleted it. May hold this one depending on how fair the matches are. Yesterday I just ran out of available matches too many times. In Fairy the fairness of availables will be key. Also have to double click to swap pieces, not click & drag which is better. Haven't totally figured the Jump bonus but prob critical since Shop offers one at 300 points. Likely need if game gets hardere. 8/10 for fans depending on how game progresses.
Just be fast about making matches. Their match hint comes up quick which helps given sluggy cursor move & double click style. Be ready to replay level (s). Thanks GOTD.

to J.S.: Whiterabbit is usually the first to post because he is the moderator for this site, and usually gives us an in-depth review which I find helpful in deciding whether to try a game. Denigrating him when he lets us know that his review is short because he actually has a life outside of this site only reveals your own character. (Stephen - I hope you don't mind my defending you.)

Windows 7 64 bit

Game installed and played fine. I give this game a 5 out of 10.
My thoughts:
The game play is not smooth. You can not play fast because of this. You have to wait for the gems/icons to stop moving before you can click on more. Most irritating in the bonus level.

I DO like that your gem/icon choices are what drive the rabbit to the end of the level...BUT...sometimes he walks many steps and sometimes just a few. This makes it difficult to know when to make a flower or carrot or spring for extra points or to jump. If it's just random then there's no skill involved. I'm not a fan of random. I like to know that I'm finishing a game due to my skill level and ability to work through puzzles. I need to play it more to see if my icon choices create a different number of steps.
So far they don't seem to be cumulative either.

The game does not have the option to use the system cursor. I like to have the option in games to use the system cursor because it often speeds up game play. We are stuck using the game cursor in this game.

Much of the narration has bad grammar (English), which if that does not bother you is not a problem. I'm just noting it.

I would like to see a progress map screen. In this game you only know that you are progressing by the change in the number on the upper right hand side of the level screen. I believe that I played 5 levels and then I got the bonus level. I stopped after the bonus level. You then get a new introduction screen that continues the storyline and the game has new gems/icons.

Graphics look old on my screen so overall the game has an outdated feel to it. I've never minded that in games (as I'm an old f**t and grew up with them) but I have gotten used to more sophisticated graphics you see now-a-days.

Still, this is a clever game. I really like moving the rabbit along his path. Just wish that game play was smoother and had a more polished look to it.

Tried to uninstall it and although I can find it listed under Program Files, it is not listed in the list of programs to uninstall. Nor does Iobit uninstaller find it. Any suggestions?

................................Moderator Comment...............................

Sorry I missed this last night, I thought I'd answered the question earlier. I think I may not have saved it as I was half asleep while doing a lot of yesterdays moderation.

Most game giveaways don't install anythiong to the registry, which is why you can't use the uninstaller that's bundled with Windows. To uninstall you just delete the installed folder. there are no folders specific to the game in the hidden appdata folder nor in My documents. Once you manually delete the game folder, apart from somepassing references to the giveaway zip file there will be no trace of the game left. :)

Downloaded and isntalled without a problem.

Only playable in wondowed mode (not my favourite, everything is a bit tiny).

I am not sure if I understood the matching 3 right - am I only allowed to do horizontal an vertical lines? No squares or angles?

I gave it a thumb up anyway as it looks great and seems to be some fun.

Installed and runs fine on my Win7-64 machine. The feel of the gameplay is a little, um, odd. The tiles don't slide smoothly - it's easier to click them, as Lee mentioned. There's no option to switch from the custom cursor to a standard one. That would solve the lag some are experiencing in cursor movement. I'm not having that problem, exactly, but the movement does feel a bit off.

Having to guide the rabbit's movements with your tile selection does give the game an interesting twist. Figuring out how that works can be a bit confusing. (The knapsack power-up gives you a spring to put where ever you need one. Why doesn't it just look like a spring??)

There is no guide included and a quick search turned none up, so you may have to figure it out as you go. (I did discover that it requires the latest DirectX 9c to be installed which may explain the trouble some are having getting it to run.)

Overall a mildly entertaining game which I will keep and play occasionally. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Game has potential but the actions and paths are the same in every level: Walk, walk, jump, walk, walk, jump. Program needs more development time to make it more interesting. I like having to gather items to do certain things but the lag time between selections is annoying. This is a good game for younger audiences (3-10 year olds) who may not be expecting much. Since this is in English the developers should get a translator to correct the text.

Dear Rita,
thank you for the word "sluggish". It's not your computer it must somehow connected with the game. On my win 8.1/ 64 it made me angry how slowly the reactions of the game were. I would have liked to play it but in this form I better deleted it...

Seems to be an older version of the game than what is on other sites and very buggy. I also had the problem with "game over" on the first chapter but managed to get past that and finish two chapters. On the third chapter (At Lin), I am unable to get past the "game over" message after repeated tries. Sorry to see that as I found the game play a welcomed change from traditional match 3 games.

Installed on Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit

First impression is that it is a nice twist on the usual match 3 concept but as others have reported it is very slow and not always responsive to first clicks. It is a timed game, with no unlimited play option which always loses points in my reviews because there are times when I dont always want a challenge. Even where there is no unlimited option there should be a difficulty level selector to account for different people's reaction times.

The killer for me however is the game speed - in Windowed mode it is just playable but in full screen (which I really needed to see the icon detail) it is hopelessly slow and jerky. The one thing you need in any timed game is fast responses to the mouse. My rig (8 cores, 16gb Ram GT640 2gb) is capable of running most graphic intensive games so I can only imagine that this must be an old game design which has not been upgraded for windows 7/8.

Sadly going to uninstall this one.

I like the concept - requiring a specific match so that the hero can progress is a great twist - it reminds me of a game (the name escapes me) I played years ago where you were controlling a warrior using a match-three: three swords to strike, four swords for a power strike, three potions to heal, etc.

The implementation is, however, a disappointment. The game is VERY sluggish to process moves and tile drops, and you can't do a match on one side of the board while a previous match is being processed (like Fishdom and a few others).

There are other Alawar games I play regularly, but this one isn't for me. Fixing the sluggishness would go a tremendous way to making this a favorite game.

Note: I only played one level, so I wasn't able to explore the powerups, etc.

J.S., Whiterabbit did not post "crap" as you call it. He usually gives us a very detailed synopsis of the game that is given away each weekend, and does a very fine job at it. He did not post just to put his post at the top. He actually cares about his family's education, and wants to make sure that his son excels in his schoolwork, and then later on in his life.
I for one understand that WR cannot do his usual, and hope that his son does pass his test (I am sure that WR will see to that).

Have a nice weekend Rabbit.

................................Moderator comment...............................

Hi Guelph

Thanks for your support. J.S. is probably new to the site so wasn't aware of my usual review spot

I remember when the giveaway site first started. For several months it was plagued by a small group of community members who did actually post comments like 'hey I'm first to post', or words to that effect. I think it stopped when they relized that often even though they had posted those immortal words first to post, they would actually not be the first to post because of the delay in moderation. It just made them look foolish.

Personally I've never though of my posts as first posts. I've just tried to ensure that as many community members have the oppertunity to check out a review before downloading the game. The main reason, which isn't as valid today as it was several years ago was because many community members were on limited bandwidth connections; so, to save them downloading a game that turned out to be disappointing, I've always tried to post a review as soon as possible. I've not been perfect, but have managed more often than not.

It saddens me to see such posts as J.S's; there really is no reason for it, but unfortunately, we will always get some negativity from some, especially as online communities tend to be mainly faceless and anonymous. Most posters of this type tend to give false names and throw away emails as well. I'm sure we will see many more over the coming years.

A "nook" is defined as "a corner or recess, especially one offering seclusion or security." We'd say "breakfast nook" for, e.g., a very small table in the corner of a kitchen, or perhaps a small chair by a fireplace between some book cases.

Works well on windows7home premium. I love most match three games. This one, to my surprise is different. The rabbit in the centre of the game field is your guide. It cannot make a move unless you get the right combo. If it needs to jump, it will tell you and you have to find the 3 springs match to help the rabbit along the way. As well as the bonuses. It is challenging. Well done. It is a bit sluggish, but it might be my puter. Although I only played it for a short time, I know that I will enjoyed it later on, especially when the challenges continue throughout the game. Love Alawar games. Well thought out and well executed for a match three.
Thanks GATD AND ALAWAR for this game. It has surpassed my expectation with this one.

Well... an 'interesting' Match3. I'm not sure who it's aimed at - the story element and graphics suggest young children, but the gameplay might be a tad awkward (it's sometimes tricky to slide pieces, so you need to click individually on each of those you want to move) - that may, of course, be something to do with my system (64-bit Windows 7).

The need to make specific matches (springs to jump, for example) is refreshing, though I could wish it was more a freedom of choice, rather than an absolute necessity (your character WON'T move until you've matched 3 springs, making him jump to a platform, as there's only the one path for him to take).

When you complete a level, you get a stats screen, followed by what appears to be an 'upgrade' screen. This screen shows 2 images - 1 greyed-out that you can't accesss yet, and 1 rucksack-type bag which, on hovering over, says 'make a spring - the next will cost 300' (or words to that effect) - no other instruction(s) or explanation(s). I assume making the spring will, somehow, reduce the need to make spring matches within the game, but I don't know... (maybe I should have taken the time to read whatever game instructions there may have been before diving straight in..?)

As with many games from GGOTD, there's no shortcut installed, so you have to take note of where the game's installed, navigate to that point, right-click on the exe, and select Create Shortcut, THEN drag it to the desktop - or wherever you want it (I put mine in a desktop folder called 'Games').

I noticed, during installation, that the music files appear to be in ogg format - I assume you could simply rename the originals, then swap-in your own renamed ogg files if you wanted.

For me, this is a 'meh' game - I'll probably keep it for a while and may revisit it occasionally, but equally I may never play it again.

I'm really sorry - such a cute and nice game but this slowmotion in the "reactions" of the game do not only make me nervos but even angry.

I'll have to delete it. It would have been a nice present for Mother's Day today... I'm sad about this...

The game installs and starts ok, but as soon as I try to play it the mouse stops working. I can get a short way into it with the keyboard and touch screen but any play is impossible - I have tried 3 times with same results. Any clues??????

Unfortunately I don't have time to even play the game today. I've got to keep my son on task (revision for his examinations which start tomorrow)

I installed on win8.1 in the usual way: download - unzip - extract to an earlier defined folder - create a desktop-link - doubleclick to start.

The game started a bit slowly and the arrow of the game reacts slowly too (I hope "delayed" is the correct word.)
That's my first impression.

Question of a non-native English-speaker: what does "nook" mean? It's not in my dictionary... Thanks.

Hi Nidda, Nook is used usually with the word cranny, i.e nooks and crannies - every small, out-of-the-way place or places where something can be hidden. I looked on Google and found the following:

1. a corner, as in a room.
2. any secluded or obscure corner.
3. any small recess: a breakfast nook.
4. any remote or sheltered spot.
:)

Whiterabbit's post is exactly what is wrong with people these days. He posted crap just to be the "first" to post.

...removed as deemed innappropriate for a family friendly site.....

what a sad world lol

Now for a real review (quick one mind you): If you love these games and play them alot then you may as well grab this one.
The look, sounds and boards are nothing new to match game fans but they are easy on the eyes and ears.

Replay value: 2/5
Graphics: 3/5
Sound: 3/5
worth downloading: Yes if you are a match game fan.

Seems like a nice game. Downloaded and installed it fine, but playing it was not possible. I did get to the introduction of Mathin who is setting off towards his friends, but after I hit the Next button I get a sign with game over. After that I end up in a loop playing the intro and ending with game over, without matching anything! Perhaps my computer is too old for this game (Pentium 4 @2.4GHz). Thanks for the game. I will try later installing it on my laptop and hopefully I will have more luck.

This game seems buggy. At the bottom of my game screen, my desktop taskbar constantly flashes on and off. Also please give the option to play an untimed game. Timed games are no fun when one is playing in the presence of distractions!

Please forgive the lack of a review today. My son starts his GCSE examinations tomorrow. He needs to be kept on task all day to cram as much as possible, so I'm really unable to spare much time at all today. I will drop in to moderate, but my sons revision comes first. Have a restful Sunday.

To all parents in the same position with children revising for examinations, be it school leaving, GCSE's, GCE's, High School diploma's, degrees, college examinations etc wish them good luck from me.
