The Game:
As evident in the original Fairy Jewels and now its successor, Fairy Jewels 2, some folks just have it in for those adorable little imps. Previously, it was a malevolent mage. Now, it’s a wicked witch, a ne’er-do-well who’s destroyed the fairies’ home and imprisoned them. Given their plight, you must wing your way to their aid, freeing them and restoring their world in the process.
A magical fantasy for action puzzlers, Fairy Jewels 2 serves up a solid dose of gem-matching goodness that spans 120 levels of jewel-clearing, fairy-freeing entertainment. Included in the mix are an original storyline and characters, over 20 unique items to employ and bonus mini-game levels. Also provided are a spell component and two game modes.
As play begins, you have the choice of indulging via Story Mode or Time Mode. The former, as expected, guides you through the game unfolding the fairy-tale as you go. The latter, conversely, allows you to simply play against the clock. Since both modes offer different gem-matching levels to play, it’s really like getting two games in one. As for Story Mode, where most of your time will undoubtedly be spent, you play the role of a sorceress named Kalina who, with the help of several other characters, rescue the fairies and restore their kingdom.

Gameplay is simple enough. You control a magic wand that “casts” jewels, aiming left and right with the mouse. The left mouse button fires a gem; the right swaps colors between the jewel currently selected and the next one in the queue. Your goal is to clear all the gems on a given level to free the fairies trapped behind them. Release all the fairies and you advance to the next level. Time is limited, so you can’t dawdle. But, you shouldn’t run short unless you get distracted for a while. You also need to collect as many coins on each level as possible. They’re required to repair various buildings along the way, those that were destroyed earlier by the evil witch.
Gems aren’t the only “weapons” in your fairy rescue arsenal, however. Remember those 20 plus unique items mentioned above? As you progress, these special objects are introduced one at a time to assist in your quest. On hand are goodies such as bombs that you can capture and deploy as needed to destroy gems; rockets and morphers that repaint whole rows or groups of jewels, bricks and steel blocks with the color of the gem launched; and quite a few more.
A completely new addition to Fairy Jewels 2 is spells. They perform actions like turning jewels and bricks into ice, burning them up, eliminating entire jewel groups, and temporarily giving your wand a crosshair and guideline to improve accuracy. As you clear gems from the screen, mana is released that serves to “charge up” the spells in your belt. Three are on hand during play, but you can select from a total of 12 once you learn them all, and alternate your selection between fairy-rescue missions.
image

image
You’ll also come across a special bonus mini-game every few levels. Designed as a means of providing extra game points, you’re tasked with shooting as many magic flares as possible before time runs out. But, you need to avoid the evil red flares. Hitting those significantly reduces the time available.
Visually, Fairy Jewels 2 is a step up from its precursor. In fact, production values have increased making it quite a splendid game with lots of eye and ear candy to enjoy. More important, however, is its ease of play and immensely addictive nature. As with the original Fairy Jewels, it’s decidedly difficult to call it quits after playing “just one more level.”
The only real complaint with the first game, a single mode of play, has been answered in the sequel by offering a second timed mode for those who want the gem-play sans the story. The only negative to levy against it concerns the bonus levels. Other than generating extra points, they really serve no purpose within the game and quickly become boring. Otherwise, it’s a winner.

Fairy Jewels 2, like its forerunner, is a gem of a game. It’s a magical, charming, addictive, eminently entertaining treat for the whole family. Wand and fairy dust not included.

Having problems installing today's game?
If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Fairy Jewels 2 to work please visit the problems section, which you can find in the FAQ's thread HERE. Also read through the community’s comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted. The main issue we have is with the giveaway wrapper, which uses a Themida based code to protect the games executable. Unfortunately, Themida is also used to hide malware; so, as a precaution, some security software may block the installation and sometimes even delete the executable file. Blocking or deletion is usually determined partly by the way your computer is set up. Usually you'll get a message saying ''the file is corrupted'', but, the files are okay. There are a couple of things you can do to overcome this issue. The first is to reboot in safe mode with networking, install the game then reboot, or secondly you can (at your own risk) temporarily turn off your security, install the game, then turn your security back on. A note of reassurance to those that choose the latter and quicker method. The game giveaway team have been giving away games for over a decade (Dec 2006 & prior to that, via the main site 2 or 3 times weekly from Oct 2006 to Dec 2006) and have 'NEVER' given away a game infected with malware; they always test every giveaway with several of the top anti-malware suites to ensure all games are free from malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, if you have a problem getting the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve or if you have a game to offer the community you can do so HERE

"Try changing some of the parameters via the compatibility tab..."

In win7 if there are problems I generally try all the compatibility options, one or a few at a time. In win10, I think it helps to run the Compatibility Troubleshooter before you try to run the game [or app], because Windows can set compatibility options on its own when you 1st run the game, & those settings may or may not work, putting you on your own to set things manually -- after the game has run, & those settings have been made automatically, running the troubleshooter will often not work, telling you no changes are needed.

In the latest version of win10 [1803], the compatibility settings for High DPI have improved. If/when Settings -> System -> Display has 125% or greater under the "Change the size of text..." heading, it may help to right click the game.exe normally found in MPC game folders, go to the Compatibility tab of the Properties dialog, click the button for "Change high DPI settings", check the box for "Override high DPI...", select either of the system options in the dropdown, click OK, then back on the Compatibility tab click Apply, & finally click the button to "Run compatibility troubleshooter".

When the Troubleshooter runs, if it finds a problem [& on the GOTD games it always does] it will ask you to test what it thinks are the proper settings. The game will start & usually work OK, so I enter a name & click OK so that I can access the exit or quit button. When it doesn't work properly if it's still running I'll close the game from its icon on the TaskBar. The Troubleshooter will now ask if it worked or not -- if it worked you can save those settings & close the Troubleshooter -- if it didn't work the Troubleshooter will give you more options to try again. I've had to try again roughly once out of 10 or 12 games.

I had given this a thumbs up because I liked Fairy Jewels 1. But this one is SOOOOO buggy! I can't get through Level 3 without it crashing. I even deleted my profile, hoping that that had somehow caused a problem, but no such luck. Sometimes it crashes the first time I do something (I learned NOT to hit a rocket as my first shot). Sometimes it is later. Once, I made it almost to the end, but one of the rockets froze and then crashed the game. I kept thinking that if I could JUST make it through Level 3 somehow that things would get better. But I've tried often enough that I'm realizing it's hopeless.

Multiple crashes. Win 10 Pro, 64 bit. Tried all compatibility settings and ran as admin. Win 8 setting seemed to work best. But use of the rocket sometimes crashed the program. Reseting a game always crashed the program. Very annoying and too bad, marble shooters are a favorite.

That’s enough! A runtime occurs error after each level. I already tried out all thinkable compatibility modes. They failed all. This game is no fun. It doesn’t belong onto the computer but into the toilet bowl. And: flushing!

The older version 1 offered a couple of days ago was running flawless. Why didn’t version 2?

I noticed that the game wasn’t made for Windows 10.

Fun game, much like its predecessor but seems to need better shooting accuracy, more use of bank shots (both good!).

Sadly it crashes at the end or start of every level. I've tried many combinations of compatabilty settings, even let Windows troubleshooter try to help. No luck. Good thing is it seems to save any progress, it's just a nuisance to have to restart and it seriously slows the flow of the game. Predecessor (Fairy Jewels) did not crash. I'm running Win 10.

Error message implies a VB runtime tried to close the program in an unusual way.

The game is fun, but I keep getting booting out. I am getting too frustrated to continue. Anyone else having this problem and is there a remedy? I am running Windows 10, intel 3.90 ghz with 8 mb of ram. 64 bit.

barbara smith, My solution was going to be done as reply to my finding. I too run Wind 10 x64 Pro, Intel 32 mb ram. The screen 3 crash forced exit. Reran got thru it, crashed at part that starts screen 4 (not even into the play) with a diff error msg that 3. Well I had tried various compat & ran Win troubleshooter. Finally fig enough. Get the My Play City version but I used Revo Uninstaller to erase it. If leave this GOTD version it will bomb MPC too - noted MPC one picked up both my name & levels played (3) letting me do 4 & 5 so far.
From quick compare all I see is MPC one has a small folder inchdata lacking in GOTD one. Hope helps. Trick levels higher up needing bouncing off walls like in billiards. Just get the fairies to win, no need to get all the colored bubbles. Course they hide a fairy or two where are to bounce & hit. Replayed a couple saving bombs & rockets to help. G/L

Thanks for your reply. Here is what I did and it hasn't crashed since. Don't know which one worked since I did them all at once. I am running in compatibility mode 7. Also running as admin and in a window instead of full screen. Game is addictive and I am enjoying it. Thanks for your help :D

Barbara Smith, Ahh second post here mentioning to run in a window not full screen. That's the last of the many suggestions I didn't try. Wasn't thinking a graphics issue since seems to crash end of each level implying code conflict being such an old game.
I like the game, clever bank shots & all. Cross fingers. At least the MPCity one offered more hope. Thanks in advance.

beergas, hmm just saw the game specs. Comments about crashes does suggesting may need compat settings to Win 7 or so if Win 10 x64 Pro bombs.
If I get too much grief the last try is usually to get a copy elsewhere like My Play City itself. As rule BigFish games go way back which can add to the issues.

game loading screen takes ages to load such a small game... On level 3, during gameplay all of a sudden stops (frozen screen)... i had this game before via ggotd, but it seems to me that the bugs all still there. Also found a trojan during installation of this game. Perhaps therefore it doesn't work as it should.

Installed OK, seems like a fairly simple bubble shooting game, but I wish there was a way to turn off all the story bits, I am only interested in the game! However it did crash on about the 3rd level, it just froze and closed. If you want a quick distraction then it fits the bill.

I have Fairy Jewels 1 and loved it. I was looking forward to playing part 2 but I can't get past using a bomb. Every time I try to use it the game crashes.

Downloaded and installed well on W10 pro. Seems like a fun game with lively music - should be quite addictive ... just one more level hehe.
However it keeps crashing.
You start the game again, and it plays on past the problem spot as if there was no problem. Then it crashes again in a different spot further on. Have reloaded it but its still happening - still in different spots doing different actions..
I'll keeping trying.

I am having the same issue. The game just randomly crashes, but when you get it up again, it works fine until the next crash.
VERY ANNOYING!!
I have the original game from last week and had no problems at all.

Spiel stürzt andauernd ab

.............................Moderator Kommentar........................................
