You failed - You failed - You failed - Game. Pls give more people the chance to win. Sometimes it is even not clear what the reasons are. Very frustrating!

Nice game to pass the time. The different types of play help keep it interesting.

I do agree with Amanda. The fairy giggle is creepy.

Addictive game but I truly dislike the acorns. They jitter and are hard for those of us with unsteady hands to hit. It's like an arcade aspect to a puzzle game...imo it is unnecessary. The acorns should be awarded for progress through the game.

Thanks for the hint.

Tried again to catch those dammned acorns, but failed again and again and again.

So I am just wating now until this part is running out on itself.

Just depressing to read "You failed!" every day! ;-)

so what happened mods did you decide to delete my post and not put it up or what ?

Seems like I was not the only one who could not install this game yesterday

...................Moderator comment...................

I didn't have access to the admin panel yesterday (having only been able to log-in for the first time in two months a few hours ago) and the other moderator who does moderate does not delete anything, so it's more than likely your post went into the spam bin. (I'll check after I've woken up and had breakfast).

By the way, thank you for your well written critique of Putrid Puters. I fully agreed with virtually everything you said. :)

Can't find out how to save a game so have to start all over again each time. This is a deal breaker for me and I won't play it again.

..............................Moderator Comment...............................

I've not played the game much yet, so can't be sure; i may be that you have to play a number of levels before they are saed. some games I've played, for example Ricochet, (the original one (not Ricochet Infinity) you had to play at least five levels for it to be saved.

Fairy Island seems to be a very enjoyable game, with lots of great graphics and the levels are quite challenging! It appears to be the end result of a great deal of hard work and imagination! The only issue that I had found was a wee bit of frustration I had with my controls, it seems that my mouse's effectiveness when trying to capture acorns or clicking on the blocks became increasingly aggravating, as I had to repeatedly click on some of the targets in order to get the proper reaction. However, I plan on recommending this game to all of my friends and associates, and would like to thank the game developers and GOTD for making the game available for our review!

Couldn't decide whether to review this so late. Did a morning play of story mode and agree that there's so much here, it's somewhat confusing. Didn't want to review until I played all the modes, because of the amount of stuff here and the often mentioned confusion factor, but life intruded today. When I did play the continous mode, I got scores higher than 10000, so I'm not fazed by the game. In fact, the biggest problem in the continuous mode is that you get mentally numb after awhile. However, that's not to say that I've mastered it yet, either.
I'm going to give this 8 out of 10, but not because of the way it is now, but for it's potential. An IMPRESSIVE amount of work went into this. It has the same problem as last week's Bilbo game, that is they threw in everything including the kitchen sink. However, what they put in here does fit, unlike some of the stuff in Bilbo. The problem is that too much complexity retards the player from getting the feel of the game, and that's a necessity if you want to hook the player.
There's so much going on here that the players, without adequate explanation in some cases, and with explanations in other cases that come at such a time that it's like throwing them into the deep end of the pool, can get too distracted to utilize all the information. And, again, to get the feel of the game. Still, I feel that when I get the hang of certain aspects, the desire to play for me will go way up.
All this game really needs, IMHO, is a help file. Wet the player's whistle with some of this information before hand (which, incidentally, also gives the player something to go back to when they get confused) and I think you have a big time winner here.
Also IMHO, it's probably slightly overpriced at 20 - just considering the state of the game industry - but would be a bargain at 15. I realize this is a 6 year old game, but would probably still be a respectable seller with the addition of a help file. I really like the graphics, though so some of the 3-D sometimes seems to fit slightly uneasily on the 2-D backgrounds, but that's a very minor quibble probably not worth fooling with in an otherwise quite good looking game.

P.S. for those bothered by the slightly annoying giggle of the fairy, unfortunately all the sounds are bundled together in one file, so individual ones can't be removed or replaced.

Yeah, I'm back. Thanks for the feedback.

This is a professionally produced matching game with appealing graphics. You can select from one of four matching modes and exchange acorns for power-ups. Even the download is relatively small.

I just downloaded/installed, and started playing the game, a short while ago (on my Windows 7 64 bit, btw). I pretty much agree with #27/Irene; nice little game, pleasant music. Looks like a keeper for me. Thanks to Playrix and GOTD. :)

Downloaded & installed in WinXP with no problems.

This is "Collapse" game: I don't usually like Collapse, but I like it in this version.

I've only played 5 levels so far; but the graphics, as always with Playrix, are great.

Get rid of that hint arrow: what's the point of playing if the hint arrow tells you where to go? and let us control when the power-ups launch.

I'll be keeping this game, though. Thanks, Playrix & GGOTD.

FINALLY got this to download complete file. Installed and played...until the 16th level of classic where no matter how hard I try, it always says I failed BUT THERE'S NOTHING THAT SAYS HOW OR WHY I KEEP FAILING OR WHAT TO DO TO COMPLETE THE LEVEL It appears the classic mode of the game only goes to 16th level

I like the variety in this match-3 game, but the acorns for power-ups is both confusing and annoying: they launch at will often destroying your strategy.

Also, I've reached a puzzle level that requires power-ups to complete, but the power-ups I have secured are "locked off" and won't fire. I guess this is one of those game secrets I'll have to figure out, but it's a bit frustrating.

The graphics are sharp, which is a good thing, since in the locked mode some of the colors are ill-defined when the chains are over them (as usual, blue and green melding).

Overall, a good match three game, but I'm not crazy about the workings of the power-ups.

Thanks GameGiveaway.

I agree with Delilah at #8. WAAAAAAY too fast. WHY, WHY, WHY can't developers understand that some people want to play for relaxation, not for challenge? Make the freaking timer OPTIONAL!!! I can't stress this enough. I will NOT ever SPEND MONEY on a game without a relaxed mode. And I have a lot of company.

This could be a great STRATEGY game, like trying to get rid of all the blocks, but instead it's a click-fest. Boo, hiss. I'll probably uninstall it.

Also, the music, while nice, is on too short a loop. It will drive you crazy in a hurry.

Downloaded & installed A-OK on Vista Hm Prem., X64. Totally different match 3 tiles game ... different & fun. Nice music and scenery.

The only thing that torqued my jaw was the fact when the Game asked me to have Minimum of 3 Letters for the Name ... found that to be Annoying Request.

Thanks! :)

Game downloaded and installed flawlessly.

I played this game till it quickly became boring for me. (2 hours) and I played all 3 modes. It's simply a "Collapse" clone (with the other modes simply being variations of the same. This surprised me coming from Playrix. You can find endless Collapse games for free, just Google them.

Having said this, the graphics are nice (not fabulous) but I really dislike the overdone sparkle animation, which lasts way too long, wasting precious seconds till you can see clearly what is now under the animation.

I have most of the Playrix games including:

The:
- 4 Element Series;
- Royal Envoy Series;
- Farmscapes Series;
- Fishdom Series.

All of these are extremely successful games, with each series having 3 separate games.

I'm sure I have many more of their games, and this is the first one that I have found disappointing. It's simply not like Playrix to present a cloned game from the 80s. I'll be uninstalling.

Thank you anyway Playrix and thank you to GGotD for enabling us to have 2 free games on weekends.

Downloaded and installed with no problems XP Pro SP3.
Unfortunately I'm unable to play as I have no keyboard and Playrix decided to make the log on screen first rather than the options screen first.(using OSK to type this).
Maybe in the future they can make games that don't automatically go to full screen or log on screen.
Just my twopence worth.

Very nice game! Unlike some earlier commenters, I very much like that there 4'submodes' for each type of game. A lot of match 3 games quickly get monotonous, but this lets you change up from regular to puzzles to locked and so forth.

Thank you very much, Playrix and GOTD!

@ #19 - Hotty.. the trick with the acorns is to hit them at the top of their trajectory.. they pause for just a second before falling again. That gives you time to get a good shot.

I played the first 10 levels in Storyline to test. This unlocked the 'normal', 'locked', and 'shifter' modes of the game. Seems to be a Collapse type clone with some updates.

What I liked:
* Different modes of play which unlock fairly quickly (that is, you don't have to play through the entire game to unlock the next mode)

* You don't have to restart the game path if you switch play mode

What I don't like:
* Having no control of the powerups. When the meter is filled, the powerup launches. Twice I had a fairy become locked because the powerup took out all the blocks of the same color around the fairy. If I could choose when (or where) to launch the powerup this would be a great improvement.

* Can only access the store when you earn an acorn on a level.

Nice one. First winner for me in awhile. Catch the acorns bit tricky first time in bonus, key is wait for it to reach a peak. Too hard to click one on way up or down. Split sec top click gets it, total of them helps gets a bonus item choice. Mainly played normal mode but lots of variations, timed, shifted, etc. Can switch modes intragame.
Fine full screen Win 7 x64. Slider options for sound, music that are half way decent for a change. One bonus puzzle I missed is some map to be filled in. Must have clicked wrong place since it just went into next level unlike with acorn catch bonus.
Thanks guys. 9/10 for fans.

It's a Playrix game which means there's a certain level of quality to expect. It's just not the best of the Playrix bunch. Very old fashioned from early computer days. First, turn off your Norton as Sonar will delete this. I had to do that and re-download. Just double click on the To change the cursor to normal you have to be in full-screen mode.

It's okay, good for kids maybe. I generally really like Playrix games. I'd love to see the Fishdoms, Gardenscapes, Royal Envoys, Around the World in 80 Days and Atlantis games back as I lost them all in a crash.

I have to agree with Opal, Delilah, and Amanda. Too fast, powerups are totally confusing--didn't see how to use one in an entire game, and the hints were very annoying. I like most Playrix games like Royal Envoy and Fishdom. This one left me feeling tense and dissatisfied.
