El Airplane was available as a giveaway on April 27, 2007!
This game is a spoof on popular scrolling shooters. You are to pilot the most unusual airplane in the world. Actually, the flying chariot is a more appropriate word. Your goal is to get to the finish, destroying the enemies on the way. Your ammunition will consist not of bullets, however, but rather bananas and glass flasks. And you can drop an anvil on top of the head of some absent-minded enemy.
Each of 6 episodes comes with tons of funny creatures that try not to let you get to the finish. Keep your eyes open and collect the most unusual weapons and bonuses while you are flying to help you get to the very finish. Good luck, pilot!

Featuring a stunning degree of visual detail and as much brick-bashing fun as we could cram into one release, Magic Ball 3 has changed Breakout games forever. The task before you is challenging. It's also filled with incredible sights and sounds!
Turtix didn't know what would happen when he tried casting a powerful spell without the supervision of his teacher. When he lost control of the magic and it shattered an amulet that maintained peace and harmony throughout his world, he thought the worst had happened. Then he learned dark forces had invaded five islands and kidnapped all of the young turtles from the School of Magic! Determined to set things right, the brave and commendable Turtix set out to rescue his friends and collect the scattered pieces of the amulet.
On April 14, 1912, the ill-fated RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. Within hours, the majestic steamship, along with hundreds of passengers, lay in a watery grave deep beneath the surface. As a member of the Hidden Expedition Adventure League, you're responsible for exploring the ruins of the once majestic ocean liner and collecting artifacts for the Titanic Museum.

Personally I think this game is a great trainer for improving younger children’s mouse skills as well as being funny.

I had some fun, and got a few laughs out of this one. I would like to have the option of just using my mouse to move up and down and the right button for secondary firing, but other than that, I liked it. Thanks GGOTD!

Thank you for the heads up about the .ogg files Game Seeker. With all the audio converters that have been given away over the past 6 months, most people should hopefully be able to create some suitable music for the game. My 6 and just gone 8 year olds thought the game was very funny, Cal would like the serious Sam sound track and Emily a ‘less appropriate’ 12 dancing princesses, so I’ll have to splice them together using other programs given away by the GAotD team.... :D
I’ve added a few additional scraps of info to the reviews that Swan and Game Seeker gave. There are quite a lot of different weapons that can be picked up along the way in this game. Alawar listed first and second level weapons as well as the bonuses you can collect. It’s odd that the information wasn’t included in a help file via the GUI, however if you go into the games folder you can find a HTML Help file which covers the basics. This is also available when you first install the game provided you left the selection box ticked.
First level weapons:
Puny Bullets. Simple and weak weapon. Some say it can kill, too.
Fish. Fly out in clusters, but don't all get to their destination point.
Birdies. Fly out in different directions.
Darts. Poison your opponent, when stuck in the body.
Boomerang. Has a nasty habit of coming back to a person who threw it.
Flamethrower. Do you want to feel like an arsonist? With this thing, you can.
Soap Bubbles. Fly up in the air, carrying death and destruction.
Second level weapons:
Torpedo. Aims and guides itself to strike a target.
Crazy Boot. May bounce off several times when on its way to target.
Anvil. Breaks throw everything and then sticks in the ground.
Napalm Light Bulbs. Fall down, break open and burn everything out with Napalm.
Piano. When this baby explodes, everything on the screen dies.
Killer Boot. It just kills, don't all boots do?
Classic Bomb. Yeah, it's boring. It just explodes and hurts enemies with its fragments.
Bonuses:
Heart. Gives you a chance to live a little longer.
Jaws. Fly around and help you get rid of your opponents.
I wasn't too sure about the jaw bonus. Initially I thought they were trying to get me (I didn’t actually notice that they were orbiting my plane) so I kept trying to avoid them until checking out the information from the Alawar site. They are reminiscent of the jaws in the breakout game arkamania2.
Apparently there is an earlier version of this game that one reviewer on the Alawar site said was much better. (v1.1 as opposed to this version which should be v1.5) However I found a copy and couldn’t find any difference, lol. Also it does say that a joy stick is supported, so I assume that if you've got a joy stick configured for the computer, it should work, even though it’s not mentioned in the options menu.
There is a trainer that also gives you unlimited life and ammunition for the second weapon, but I wouldn't risk going to the sites that offer it, as apart from one, MacAfee’s site advisor gave them a red X, which when I visited the address, filled my screen with pop ups. (I must turn the pop up blocker back on). Those cheats may be useful for the youngest of children, however I won’t post the link due the possible risks. If you really want them, just Google El Airplane. There are lots of links to search, but you do so at your own risk.
Personally I think this game is a great trainer for improving younger children’s mouse skills as well as being funny.
This game will definitely be a keeper on my children’s computers. Thank you for the unusual shooter Alawar and the GGAotD team, ……..every day is a pleasure to visit. :D Thanks also to Swan for her useful review (and Game Seeker, again) :)

Cute side scrolling shooter for kids. I generally agree with #20 Swan's assessment that this is ideal for ages around 7 or 8, but considering the humor in this game I would push it up to 10 year olds. It's also easy enough that 5 or 6 year olds could also handle it without trouble. One nice thing is it's a "clean" shooter, no blood or gore and nothing to upset younger kids or give their parents pause.
It's true that the game is keyboard only, no mouse or joystick options. But controls are very responsive and easy. The player never runs out of bullets so they can just hold down the left control key for continuous fire while using arrow keys to navigate. It's an easy game that's less likely to frustrate younger kids than more difficult games. This is one younger kids can actually win.
Cartoon graphics that kids will like and they are shooting down things like toilets, dragons, mummies, balloons, etc. so it's all very amusing. There's bonuses like flying hearts for extra life and wrapped presents that deliver extra points. Collect bonuses by letting them touch the plane rather than shooting them.
It is possible to change the somewhat annoying music, the short .ogg files that continuously loop are located in a Sounds subfolder of the Worlds folder. Just put your own .ogg files in there renamed to the same names. For anyone who doesn't know how to do that, it's easier to turn the music off or down in options. Game sounds are separately controlled in options, so play is possible with game sounds but without the annoying short and continuously looped music tracks.

This is one of the worst games ever given here. You don't even have to shoot at the objects, you can just crash into them..So to say this but it's just awful. I do love this sight and I'm not ungrateful at all. this is just a terrible game and don't waste your time downloading it. Be back tomorrow.

Good morning all! ;)
The game activated and installed well - no crashes or problems that I can see.
This game is meant for a very young audience - my suggestion would be around 7 or 8. While the pilot and plane are very cute, the game itself is very ordinary and easy.
The options screen is very basic, with NO option to use the mouse, game pad or joystick, instead of the keyboard.
Graphics are all cartoons and will appeal to the very young. At age 8, my boys would have finished this game entirely within 45 minutes I'm sure. In fact, they were playing much more sophisticated "shoot-`em-up" and seek and destroy" type games at that age.
Keeping everything in perspective, we need to remember that Alawar describes this game as; This game is a spoof on popular scrolling shooters.
Spoofs .. are just that. They're meant to be silly, light and humorous. Alawar's description of this game is accurate - so the game does deliver what it promises and for only $10, it's good money spent for your kids computer fun time. :)
I'd like to again thank Alawar for their contribution to this website - who knows? If Alawar are feeling particularly generous, we might even get Hidden Expedition: Titanic some time!
#10 BMoss when he said; The adventure/RPG where you had to look at everything, pick stuff up, figure out combinations, follow a story line. Those were great - and the old Sierra’s were hilarious.
I have to agree with you! These games took time and patience, but don't have the instant gratification of "shoot-`em-ups."
That's fine for many people though, as they are looking for a little brain stimulation instead - hence the repeated requests here for word and puzzle games.
Thank you to the GOTD team for this excellent website and all the work that the team puts in behind the scenes.
~ Swan

Nice game, but not for a very mature audience. It's been well over a month for the last Word Game, how about one this weekend, so we older folks can have something to do other than watch TV? Thanks anyway for the free games, they are all appreciated no matter what!

You know what type of game would be great - something like an old school King's Quest or Space Quest. The adventure/RPG where you had to look at everything, pick stuff up, figure out combinations, follow a story line. Those were great - and the old Sierra's were hilarious.
OK - nothing about the current game, I'm just throwing it out there as an idea. Anyone know of any game of this type that could maybe make GOTD?

Update on my last review above me...
Oops... There are 6 different worlds. I played the first one and it was a small tromp through abstractness. The last "boss" (if you can call it that) was the exact same as the first boss. If the other worlds are similar and I am sure they are... I give this a 4/10. Nice try, but could have been much better.

The game is definitely weird, if you really enjoy shooters and you like to fire fish at flying toilets than this may be your cup of tea. O_o'
The graphics are decent and quite abstract. The music is horrid, only about 5 second loops and quite annoying. The sound is okay for some effects.
I was going to rate this game a 5/10 for being an okay shooter. But I played on normal difficulty and there were ONLY about 4-5 short unthoughtful levels in the whole thing? That would be ridiculous if I would have bought it. (I did not die and it is the full version.)
So now overall, if in fact that was the whole normal difficulty game, I give it a 3/10.
