Installed the game on a windows 7 64 bit system. No problems with installing the game.
Had one freeze during te game in a puzzle I couldn't get out of. Killed it via de taskmanager and started the game again. It started where it froze, so I could continue.
Loved playing this game. Thx.

Yesterday I finally finished the gamne after some casual playing. The time was ABSOLUTE worth it! The riddles are not too easy and the athmosphere was really "thick", I like to play it! Thanks a LOT for this game!

Thanks!

Excellent game! Loaded it onto a Windows XP platform. I did have to increase the virtual paging size. Downloaded in 38 minutes, took a bit of time to install. I would recommend that there be a way to look at your achievements as there is only reference to them at this point. Thank you for such a wonderful download!

Installed fine. I too love Playrix games, however had several problems with hanging my PC. Even Task Manager wouldn't come up. Had to hard boot my PC. Went back into the same scene to see if any difference after re-booting, and hung again. Played around the 'bad spot', only to encounter again trying to put the dream catcher together. Running on a new PC, Win 8.

I've played thru the first nightmare - got the green grass around the church - and it's a fun game - well done. It's more of a point-and-click adventure game than a HOG. Sad to hear that the mini-games will get repetitive - but eh. Everything has been enjoyable so far.

Only comment/complaint - the size of the region where the magnifying glass activates. Using the desk in the lab as an example, it activates when down in the lower right corner - and on the microscope, and all sorts of areas in-between - but clicking always takes you to the drawer. It should activate only when close to the drawer.

Thanks for the great games this last while :-)

First a quick danger note to the user jbdean, comment #68, hopefully he will read it someway.... because
YOUR HARDDISK MIGHT DIE SOON. Download CrystalDiskInfo and check your disk with it for errors.

And i just earned my achievement that i played halfway through the game, will continue to play it today in the evening. One of the best giveaways ever! ^^ A big big thank you to GGOTD and Playrix and of course Whiterabbit for that review despite all the other hazzles. I wish you good luck on that house issue! :)

I have Windows Vista 32, and after the monstrously long download, I went for the install.

It took Vista 30 MINUTES just to get me to the activation screen. Then, guess what. That was 10 minutes ago and it was all over.

I learned not to bother trying anything like this ever again.

Waste of time and energy.

I really enjoy this game. I like almost everything about it. One suggestion-let the hints work for finding the beholders too or else make it possible to go back to scenes where there are beholders still to be found.

Ok Win 8.1.1 x64 Pro full screen, usually options. Like it so far w/ the hint system,s weet graphics & play format. Really improves on basic HOG genre by having engaging story. Now back to the initial fuses. Thanks guys, glad I managed to squeeze this one in under the activation time.

For all people with installation problems: use free commander to unzip and install the game: http://www.freecommander.com/
This easy in use program helped me to install the files correctly when some files were "corrupted" in the past.

Great game btw!

Cleaned out some old games just to have enough space to install this game today. I am very disappointed in today's giveaway.

Tried to install by clicking on the orange setup key just gives you an error screen.

I get this error screen which says
giveaway of the day has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience. if you were in the middle of something the information you were working on might be lost.

Also have tried to install it on my dad's computer and that computer gives a microsoft visual c error.
both computers have xp in them and both were run under administration mode.
I have never had any problems before when trying to install a game giveaway before.
Have got about 6 to 8 playrix games and never had this problem with them either.
please have playrix correct this xp installing error and rerun the giveaway, please.

Thank you to the team and also thank you for the great moderating!

I would hope that there would be some help for those who have xp to get the game, that would be pretty nice of them.

I do think this is the collectors edition because there is also a strategy guide that shows you step by step help and also if you need to find those pesky eyeball thingies too for those of us who are completetionists! This is a fun game and I am not a fan of the genre. More like a point and click adventure to me and also fun graphics, sound and voice acting too!! Will be looking into this series more from the company. Thank you again this has been one of the best

I still have a copy of XP, but haven't had it installed for a couple of years now. I have intended to install it as a second boot to one of my older computers, for the spoecific purpose of testing game giveaways, but haven't got around to it. Jason Carver may have solved the xP issue. See his comment above, he posted the problem on my Steam messenger and said the following:

Zemana Anti-logger (from GAOD) warns me of a code injector in the setup. Shouldn't I be worried? Install canceled, but thank you anyway.

With around thirteen thousand downloads and only one person reporting this, it's almost certain to be a false positive. I have Zemana Anti-logger installed (commercial license, not the giveaway version) and have not got the same warning.

Thanks for the response. My Game Booster shuts off the AV software among other things when I activate it. Still crashing and I got this msg this time:

Oops !

The game crashed. The crash report folder named "Crash_2014_09-14_220406" next to game exectable.

It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!

Found the crash file and sent a copy to my desktop. Don't know where to send it though or if they would even be interested. If anyone knows of an email addy or place I could upload it I would be happy to do so. It just told me I am half way through the game. If that is so, besides the crashing, my only complaint is the game is too short! :D

Hi!

This one downloaded easy for me. It does seem to have a tightness to it, probably large download! But the graphics are great, above others in parts. I've only entered the dream phase, and walked around a bit, haven't found how to set up the piano keys, but will.
Thanks for another good game!

I downloaded this game 10 minutes into the offer, and there were already 6 'thumbs down' votes, even though it took me 15 minutes to DL, unzip, install and open the game! (Win 7, 32-bit)

So, a HOG-type game without any actual HOG scenes, but searching around scenes for things you need, and zapping the Beholders as you find them. I like the Strategy button on-screen that gives you part of a walk-through as you need it.

I'm only in the graveyard, but I vote WooHoo! Beautiful and finely-detailed as i'd expect from Playrix! Thanks, GGOTD, Playrix for the game, and Whiterabbit for your review and help :-)

..............................Moderator Comment................................

I agree with you re the thumbs down. Those community members cannot have even tried the game, so have down voted it simply becasue they dislike the genre. There have been many suggestions since the game giveaway started about how to improve the voting system, One suggestion was to lock out voting until you've actually downloaded and installed the game. :)

I too encountered a runtime error under Windows XP.

The unzipping worked fine but the game's setup.exe component refused to install on a Windows XP 32-bit system, issuing a RUNTIME error. I then used the same download (setup.exe and setup.gcd) files to install it on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. That installation worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, I've not been able to determine the reason why the installation of this game refuse to work under the WinXP system.

On Win7 Home Premium. First time this has happened to me, but it was stuck forever on the Key access. Just the window Starting ... Rebooted and had to move the 3 files out of the unzipped folder to my desktop and then it worked. Extraction was also very slow. Not sure why because, as I said, never had this issue before with anything I've downloaded through this site (games or otherwise). Success! Frustrating but what ya gonna do when you want a game and this one looks like it's worth it. :D

I have downloaded this twice and cannot get the setup to work - I am not a newby at this - in fact I'm quite experienced but am cross because it takes so long to download (even at 24000kbps) that I think there's something wrong with your system. sorry.
Cheers,
Janet

..............................Moderator Comment..............................

Hi Janet, there has been approaching thirteen thousand downloads so far. Granted there has been several community members posting about problems with the setup but those numbers are insignificant compared to the whole. It's more likley that the problem is at your end. If a significant number of community members had posted about this problem, I'd agree with you, but with only a few posting about it, it's extremely unlikely to be the fault of the giveaway site.

Have you read the comments posted today. There has been a couple of community members who have suggested why the problem has arisen, i.e. your anti malware software may be conflicting with something on your computer. The setup file contains security software that may set off your AV software, or as Little Bear suggests (Jason Carver), a particular software that may be running in the background could be the culprit.

He said the following (via my Steam messenger):

I solved everyones XP dilema on todays GGOTD. It turns out if the user has a CD emulation software in the system tray the installer wont continue on XP. I just installed it on my XP system after disabling AnyDVD.

A freind of mine said he has had similar problems and he firstly turns off his AV software, then installs the game, re boots then starts the game up.

Check the FAQ's thread over in the game discussion sticky section of the forums. I've linked to it in my review at comment number 1. I hope you get the game to work. If you don't, there is a version (not the collectors edition), that you can download for free from Gametop (which I've linked to in my review above). Be aware that such sites may try to install toolbars, change your home page or search engine. Make sure you uncheck the check boxes during installation to stop these annoyances. Whenever you close a game down that you've downloaded from Gametop, or from one of the other sites that give free games (e.g. MyPlayCity, Jenkat Games or FreeGamePick) your browser is opened, however, this is innocuous

I just played through the game, I wanted to play just for an hour or so but I couldn't resist myself, it is a pretty good game.

I couldn't find the soundtrack though, isn't it supposed to be included with the game? I saw no audio files in the installation folder.

Second try downloading, no joy. Windows XP SP3, 32bit.
From what the others have said, it's beginning to sound like it's s problem with 32bit Windows, although it's a bit odd because the error hits seconds after clicking Setup.exe which is the GGotD wrapper, not the program installation, and that usually works just fine on my 32bit XP. Normally my ZoneAlarm alerts me that the wrapper is going out to the Internet to validate the date, but it never gets that far on this game. :(

Installed fine on Win 8.1.
But I'm having issues when playing, it freezes and/or crashes after a few minutes in the first room. The error I get says: "Get ThreadContext failed". :(

..........................Moderator Comment............................

After looking on the net it seems that it may be your anti virus software that's causing this problem. I've mentioned many times that there has never been a giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in 2006, so it may be safe to say that turning off your AV software temporarily may hael. If the problem persists whenever you play the game you could install game booster then set that up to turn off your AV software whenever you play the game. later versions of Game Booster can be set up to turn on and off automatically when you boot your game up, so there's less bothering about having to turn things on and off

It took awhile because I guess the servers were very busy but the game downloaded and installed perfectly in my Win7/64 system. Exceptional graphics and interesting game that I played most of the afternoon. Not having the usual HOG scenes but trying instead to find all the one-eyed bugs was a bug plus. I've purchased a lot of Playrix games and appreciate this one being given away today for free. Hoping to be able to get that sequel if there's really one in the works. Thank you Playrix and GGOTD for a great game

Installed and played on Win 8.1 without a problem. I installed it as an administrator.

This is the full Collector's Edition. It is a HOPA game (Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure). It contains Bonus Play, Achievements, Wallpapers, Screensavers, Music. There are collectible items that you have to find throughout the game. There is a diary, hint button and you have access to the Strategy Guide. There is a directional compass that indicates areas where you can go. There are two game modes - one with quicker-loading Hint/Skip buttons and sparkles indicating highlighted areas, and one with slower refills and no sparkles.

Playrix games are always quality games and this one is no exception.

Hello everyone:

Downloaded in less than 5 minutes, installed fine. Love the 'watchers'. Played the first dream sequence episode. Music was fine at first, but shut that off after a few screens, can't really rate that as I find most music in games annoying. The rest of the audio is fine. Good creepy game so far.

Problem I am having is it crashes every few minutes with the error message "Failed to get context thread". Usually happens right after I have completed a task. Can restart and play a bit more, then another crash. Turned on Game Booster, no help. Downloaded backward Director X files, no help.

What I don't know how to do is install it on the 64 side. It installed into the 32 automatically. Think if I can do that I may fix the problem.

Am running Win7Pro i5 ThinkPad 32/64 laptop by Lenova. Plenty of room on the hard drive....3/4 empty.

Anyone have any suggestions? Checked out the forum which is where I got the idea of the backward DirX which didn't help. None of the other fixes listed seem to apply to my problem.

Love the game so far and can continue but having to restart it all the time to move forward is getting to be a pain. So far would rate it an 8 (if it didn't crash so often!) and will have a better idea when I have completed the game.

Thanks!

Old computer, over 8 and half years old, with XP. Downloaded fine (took a long time, but hey it's a large file). Installed without problem.

Have never played this game, but I expect, as other have said, that this will be a good game. However, Playrix is playing word games again. The title here say's "Collector's Edition", but what gets downloaded and installed is "Premium", and yes, there is a difference other than word games. I have been in an ongoing battle with Playrix about it.

Only problem I had was that "Game Box" was also installed. Has anyone else had that problem. I've seen "Alawar" and "Atarata" pull this crap, but this is the first time Playrix has done it. "Game Box" was promply removed from the Firefox's Add-ons and Extensions.

Only tried the introductory sequence where you collect the fuses yet, but so far it seems to be a great point-and-click adventure, the only downside I've found is cinematics suffering a bit from the uncanny valley, which is hardly a terrible failing. I'm pretty sure I'll be playing it through with the Mrs. Great job and thank you.

Installed fine on Windows 7, tried to install it on my mom's Windows XP (she loves these games) and it will not install, it just stops and says "would you like to send an error report?" I agree with others, I don't think this version is compatible with XP. I've tried nearly a dozen times now. I give up. Took an hour to download on her computer, not going through that again!

Hi. I downloaded the game earlier today to Windows 8.1. I meant to play it for a few minutes, but ended up completed the entire game - including the Extra part! Great game and apart from one freeze, played perfectly. Thank you, especially to the Moderators - very much appreciated.

I too pulled my hair out trying to load this game on Windows XP but found out that AnyDVD was triggering the copy protection that the GGOTD installer had applied to check for debuggers and emulators. Shutting it down allowed the installer to install. If anyone has tools such as DAEMON, Alcohol 120% and the likes of these CD emulation tools its best to exit them from the system tray to get the game to install.

Thanks for your comment Little Bear, got your message via Steam messenger. Sorry it's taken so long to moderate. Was asleep for aobut 3 hours. On waking up realized i'd arranged a game with friends, so didn't moderate till now. (6 hours later)

Downloaded in about 45 minutes; installation in Vista 32 was no problem (even with Firefox and Paint Shop Pro running) and the game runs well. No time for more than a cursory run through the tutorial today, but what I've seen so far merits a thumbs up (but I've come to expect that from Playrix).

Read Jason Carvers suggestion (just below yours). He said the following w.r.t XP (via my Steam messenger) and has posted it above in the giveaway comments:

I solved everyones XP dilema on todays GGOTD. It turns out if the user has a CD emulation software in the system tray the installer wont continue on XP. I just installed it on my XP system after disabling AnyDVD.

Thanks again, Moderator, for taking so much of your time to help. I am not able to install the game at all, the error message occurs before the game is installed, after the files are - presumably - unpacked. I use Bitdefender as my AV, but had turned it off, much to its anger. Its icon is still complaining, as I have not yet turned it back on again. ;-)

I think that #40 xaver, is correct, perhaps this particular download just does not install on WinXP.
The game file I downloaded at the Playrix site did work, although that was a trial version, but the download was almost identical in size. The Gamespot download also installed without any problems.

Keep checking back as there's always a possibility that someone has a fix. Check little Bears (Jason Carvers's comment)
