Gardenscapes 2 takes the unique experience of the original Gardenscapes to a completely new level! The garden at the estate where Austin was born and grew up in is in a pitiful state. Rundown and neglected, it is waiting for you to come and restore it. Accompany Austin to the place of his childhood, meet his parents, and collect the old photos and other memorable things from his past.
The monarchy is at risk! Someone wearing a black cloak broke into the royal palace. The stranger was fearful and grim, and challenged the King's right to the throne. He accused the King of being unable to manage the kingdom, and demanded to be elected King himself! Help the King win the elections and defend the truth and justice in the kingdom.
Enjoy the ultimate Fishdom experience - it's better than ever! Now all your fish are in 3D and have their own personality. Feed them, play with them, and watch them interact with each other. Engage in challenging and fun match-3 gameplay with new unique twists, as you earn dozens of awards and achievements. Choose from over 150 underwater decor items and accessories in 8 unique themes. Plus, design as many tanks as you like. Hey, your finned friends are waiting for you - dive in!
Misfortune has befallen the magic kingdom again! A careless charm made the formerly wondrous ancient world overcast, beset with darkness and despair. Four fairies of the elements were deprived of their magic power. Be the hero the kingdom seeks: set the fairies of earth, air, fire and water free, and restore the book of magic!
Welcome back to Gardenscapes! Having restored the garden to its beauty and grandeur, it’s high time to have some guests over to show off! Thankfully, the mansion has a spacious hall for everyone to gather. The only problem is that the hall is in quite a dilapidated state: the wallpaper is curling and peeled, the fireplace cold and broken, and heaps of old newspapers lie scattered about. It’s time to roll up the old sleeves once more, and with the heroic assistance of Austin the butler, turn the hall into a masterpiece!
Just an update on my previous comment (haven't figured out how to just edit without posting anew): I was aable to download from Gameto without the warning that was blocking download from Jenkat, and there was no request during install for additional software, though the game does connect to the Gametop website when I exit, which is annoying. But instead of saying it's from Playrix, like the old one, this is from Running Pillow???
Only did a few "days" but I like it so far; very similar to the first version except the jewelry works differently (you can't retrieve the gems from an incomplete one if you want to use them elsewhere) and the money rewards for clicking on plusing mushrooms, etc. aren't available each time you exit and enter like they were. Looking forward to moving ahead and seeing what else is new!

Was looking forward to this since I loved DK 1, but was sick as a dog yesterday and couldn't get to the computer in time. Tried early this morning, but it was ended, so followed the link above to Jenkat hoping to grab it there. I saw the warning about saying "no" to the adware; no problem, I thought. However, my AV (Avast) won't let me download the file at all, says it is infected with Win.32.Adware.Gen and wouldn't let me download it. I know I could turn of my AV, but this made me nervous enough to not do that. Any thoughts on whether the adware is indeed avoidable? If it were just an option on install, I don't think the AV would have blocked this.

Another Playrix game! Those are great!
This one isn't one of their best. Going in, I should state I don't like the Farm Frenzy games. They make me buggy. This one is similar so...you can guess.
The graphics, like most of what Playrix puts out, are great. Except for the dragons. Those look—dorky is the only word I can come up with. They could have done much better than what they did with the dragons. I'm not enthralled with the sounds they make either. I just kinda' did the eyebrow arch thing and shrugged at that.
It's a good game in that it doesn't make you too mental. Though the thieves can get you there. It's a simple enough premise that it's not too difficult to manage. The instructions aren't bad and followable. I don't mind the selling jewels, but then again I didn't play the first one either.
It's a good game I'll have fun with, but it needs improvement in many areas. The jewels can be hard to find if they lay them somewhere odd. The thieves are enough to get on your nerves quickly. The tasks are good. As long as you don't have too many dragons, you're not going to go completely loony with it. I just think they could have done better with this. It doesn't match some of their other games in quality is all.
Thanks again for another great giveaway!

I don't like time management games mainly because you're playing against a timer. Although this game allows you to continue playing to a goal after the deadline has run out. Magic Farm is much the same way, although they never managed to produce a proper sequel to that one.
I did have the program hang when NextPVR started up to record. I can't say for certain that it was NextPVR that caused it, but the programs could have been sharing a common resource like DirectX. It's an odd problem that few would run into. A restart fixed it and it worked while NextPVR ran.
I did find there's a slight bug that can be exploited to gain cash. I noticed it in survival mode. You can buy a dragon egg for 20 and sell it for 50 if you sell it right away. You can then re-buy and re-sell the egg making 30 every time. It's not practical when you need a lot of money but it can help you get start.
I also found a bug that would stick the mana at 6 on a level I finished and went back into. (Party Time!)
One thing I liked better about the original was the way it made jewels.

I dont generally like TM games either, but was surprised to find the original Dragon Keeper lots of fun and it's become a favored go-to game for me whenever when I need a break from other things. Perhaps this update will grow on me too, but at the moment I hate the change in jewel-making dynamic (having fewer versions to make at a time, not seeing the actual jewel, and not (as far as I've been able to figure out so far) being able to change your mind & return gems from incomplete pieces (something I often did on the old one when I needed a few extra bucks or wanted to try completing a different piece). Thought new action of having to "collect" money both via "Sell" & by scooping up from the trough was a needless annoyance. But the dragons remain cuties and well-worth tending. Still trying to master some of the other changes - something keeps seeming to steal some of my money or gems while I'm not looking - I suspect that little voo-doo doll, but havent been able to catch him in the act. Thanks to Playrix for another fun toy. :-)

Also not a fan of TM games (too much like work), though have enjoyed the Farm Frenzy series (hate those bears) and Rescue Frenzy. Mention of bandits in this game reminded me of the recently offered "My Farm Life", where you couldn't accomplish anything at night because of fending off an incessant string of thieves. But Dragon Keeper is from Playrix so it's certainly worth trying.
Thanks for the heads-up on the Origin giveaway (sounds much like the classic "System Shock 2", which I still play occasionally). Unfortunately it's only for registered members and registration was impossible - no matter what I entered for ID, even a string of gibberish, I'm told it's in use. And you can't even get email assistance, after wading through pages of options all you're given is a button for "Live Chat", with a wait of thirty minutes.

I set up an account for my daughter who wanted a copy of the game, it took over 20 attempts at finding a suitale name before it was finally accepted and, even then she had to add the following after the name she chose
i.e. her chosen name_33_33
Still worth the effort once you've set up the account.

Hi Stephen,
Glad to see that you are feeling better, which I deduce from your in-depth review (although I saw a few typos today). I usually find that your presentation, plus the slide show and video links, give me a decent sense of a game, allowing me to decide whether it interests me as well as to judge its quality. Thank you for your excellent work. Most of my responses here are based on what I learn through this process rather than actually playing a game (unless I have it from a prior download), because I rely on my husband for the DL, which is usually late in the day. I also choose not to comment on genres which are less appealing to me, such as SMUPs and TMs.
That said, I think Dragon Keeper 2 is very cute and will ask my husband later to DL. It definitely is much improved from its predecessor (and if I had any doubts about my recollection of it when previously offered on GGOTD, the second video link in your review is of the original and over an hour long!).
But now I have a criticism -- The dialog could be better written. Maybe I'm getting to be an oldtimer complaining about youngsters (or people from other cultures) who use language differently than I was taught. I can get myself very annoyed over this. However, I worry that games with this problem will further erode the education of children who play these games. I will now get off my soapbox.
What I think is good about DK2 compared to the first in the series: the improved tutorial; survival and endless modes (although I have no idea what they are based on the info I have so far, they sound intriguing; and endless sounds like I can keep playing forever after rescuing the prince); clearer goals; better explanation and graphics for making jewelry.
Thank you to Playrix and GGOTD for offering us this adorable game, although I doubt it will occupy as much of my time as my favorite series Fishdom.

Stephen,
Jenkat recently removed some games as not often downloaded so their total is 450 games. They do play the little game of changing the date of older games to make them seem newer to prompt more downloads.
MyPlayCity is currently (according to my count) at 1039 games.
GameTop is offering new games almost as often as MyPlayCity now and they are at 289 games.
FreeGamePick is bringing up the rear with 209 games. It also pulls the same trick as Jenkat of changing how it lists the games to make older games look newer.
Other than Jenkat (that has a true count readily visible), the totals may not be accurate but are as close as I can find for now.
Of these 4 sites, only 32 games are offered by all 4 of the "freebie circuit".
If anybody knows of another reputable freebie site such as these 4, I will add it to my list and track it a well. By reputable -- no ad support, ability to circumvent any hijacking, no malware involved in download, install or the game itself.

Downloaded and works just fine on Windows XP. Loved the first in the series, Dragon Keeper, and really enjoy the second, Dragon Keeper 2. There's more spells, more bells and whistles! Spoiler Alert... Loved the extra dragon, which was really a cool surprise! Wish there were more than the 3 to build the cave with though. Even so, it's a busy game, but in a good way! I never felt stressed while trying to reach the days goal, the music isn't annoying as some game music can sometimes be for me, and it's an added bonus to be able to play in two other modes once the main story mode is complete. The graphics are fab and the hints/tutorial are easy to follow. I hope they're working on Dragon Keeper 3!! :)

Just installed the game, haven't played it yet. Only got to the "How to Play" pages and ran into BLACK type on DARK BROWN background. Very dense amount of text explaining some of the more complicated functions in the game and it's UNREADABLE. I can make out that there are "Tips" which would be nice to know, but even with full brightness and contrast I'm not getting them.
Here's a "tip" for the developers: Make your Help pages readable.

Oh! I want that ANT FARM game you mentioned! ANT FARMS are SUPER COOL! They have an ANT FARM at the National Zoo in Washington, DC that is BIGGER than my entire house. What's the name of that ANT FARM game?
ANTS are way cooler than dragons!
Sea Monkeys are cool too. But they are really monkeys. They are SHRIMP! Yeah, the same things that you eat.
SEA MONKEYS are way cooler than dragons too!
I have never met a time management game that I liked. They are usually ICKY. This one in particular is like SUPER GROSS ICKY! All it is is a great big collection of crap! No, really! You spend your time in this game as a crap collector, feces farmer, and dragon pooper scooper!
Like I so elegantly but it - SUPER GROSS ICKY!
Where did you find those gems? I found them in my dragon's butt. EWW!

I'm not into Time Management games. They just aren't my cup of tea. However I did check my list of the "freebie circuit" and found that Dragon Keeper (original) is available at Jenkat Games, MyPlayCity. and GameTop. Dragon Keeper 2 is available from Jenkat Games and Gametop.
MyPlayCity just changed their download setup again. You can bypass any browser or search engine hijacks easily enough but you now have absolutely no choice in the install (to Program Files or Program Files (x86)) and there is no longer a full install executable you can save for re-installs without further downloads.
GameTop has a delay of about 10 seconds before a download starts but that is not new.
Jenkat is still the one that makes a royal mess of Program Files or Program Files (x86) by putting a game folder in 2 different places and not using a general group such as "Jenkat Games".
All 3 sites are reputable.

Thanks for the update on MPC; I tend not to use them myself anymore; got too many other games to play. I prefer the indie scene to the traditional arcades now; partly due to burn out on many of the genres. I've already posed links to the Jencat and Gametop games. :)
b.t.w what's the number count on MPC now? do you have one for Jenkat? Thanks in advance.

Looks like a fun game if your into time manangement games which I'm not. To bad it's not a match 3 with a side of hidden objects & some puzzle solving along the way for bonus scores. That I would have downloaded for sure!
But as I said looks like a great game so enjoy you time management types! Thanks anyway for another great offer! Can't win them all...

Dragon Keeper 2:
In Brief:
Dragon Keeper 2 is the second in the Dragon Keeper series (obv), a playable time management game similar in mechanics to Farm Frenzy, but with a Dragon theme. :)
Installation:
Dragon Keeper 2 downloads to a 90.5 MB zip file (35MB larger than Dragon Keeper) that unpacks to a read me and a wrapped setup activation file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked. This file may case some security software to alert the user to a possible malware attack, but it will be a false positive. The game giveaway team check all game giveaways for malware using several well known anti -malware suites. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in Dec 2006.
The installed game is 214MB in size (70MB larger than Dragon Keeper)and installs to the following path:
C:\program files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\Dragon Keeper 2
There is a shortcut installed to the desktop and start menu/programs folder and there’s an uninstaller installed to the start menu/programs folder, which you can also find inside the games installer folder. Once the game has been installed you can delete the giveaway setup files and read me instructions.
I've tested the game on Vista, Win 7 and Win 8.1 , and Dragon Keeper 2 works okay on all three platforms. I no longer install Win XP, so can’t confirm whether it works on that operating system.
Introduction:
This game has never been given away here before.
If you miss Dragon Keeper 2 today you can get it 24/7 from Jenkat Games and Gametop; and, if you missed the first in the series, i.e. Dragon Keeper, you can get it 24/7 from either MyPlayCity (MPC), Gametop or Jenkat Games. Please do remember the possible toolbars/home page changes, browser changes as well as other things that you may get if you don't uncheck the check boxes during installation. MyPlayCity games are particularly aggressive at the moment and I’ve been told that they force you to follow one of the negatives before you can install the game (i.e. allow a toolbar or home page change); for this reason I recommend downloading the Jenkat version. By the way, MPC hit a thousand free games the other week.
Developers Introduction:
Reference accessed HERE Jan 26th 2014
The Game:
Forget ant farms and sea monkey colonies. It’s time for treasure-filled caves populated with dragons, imps, trolls, bandits, and a ton of other fanciful, scaly inhabitants. In Dragon Keeper 2, you’ll play parent to a bunch of dragons in order to combat an evil witch. Yeah—a little more exciting than tending to a hermit crab tank.
In this follow-up to last year’s Dragon Keeper, you play a princess who’s looking for a an malevolent sorceress who’s morphed the princess’s love into a hapless fish. You’ll execute this quest by breeding gem-laying dragons. You use the gems your fire-breathers produce to unlock information about the witch’s whereabouts.
The basic premise, and much of the jewel-scooping gameplay, is identical to the original game. It’s a time management strategy game that requires you handling several creatures with different abilities, much like the classic, Insaniquarium. You start out with your dragons (which you only begin with one of), which must be fed in order to poop out colourful precious stones you’ll use to make sellable jewellery. As you earn more money, you can buy peripheral critters, such as imps that clear land and help to raise your cave’s population, by allowing you to add more dragons. Other creatures you can buy with your earnings are trolls that can beat up jewel-plundering thieves.
The fast-paced strategy was carried over from the original game, as well as the rest of the best of Dragon Keeper: beautiful graphics, for one. The developers have also added some pluses, like a much more advanced tutorial, as well as Survival and Endless modes. (They’re unlocked once you’ve made progress in the main Story mode.) There are still lots of upgrades and items that are staggered throughout the game at a good pace.
I wish the sequel could have improved upon a few things from the original, though. I still would like to see many dragon breeds crammed in your cave, as opposed to the usual three. It also would be cool to play more than one cave at once, giving the player more opportunity to think holistically and problem solve. Juggling several caves and bouncing between them would feel even crazier and more manic, in a good way.
If you liked the first Dragon Keeper, chances are you’ll like this one too. It’s a cute, colorful, yet serious challenge that forces you to take serious care of your magical creatures. New characters, new spells, new graphics, and new modes of gameplay gives both newcomers and veterans to the Dragon Keeper series incentive to pick up Dragon Keeper 2. If only sea monkeys were as engaging….
Features:
* Breed, feed, and take care of baby dragons to earn their help
* Collect gems and money to forge into powerful magical jewelry
* Hire odd characters for help and expand the caves with new dragons
* Defend against thieves and earn wonderful rewards
System Requirements:
Operating System: Windows XP, Vista, 7
CPU: 1.0 GHz
RAM: 256 MB
DirectX: 9.0 or higher
Hard Drive: 138 MB
Video & Images
You can see a slide show of around 75 images, showing the tutorial s, menus and options HERE' you can also see some game play videos HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE
Conclusion:
Dragon Keeper 2 is very similar to the original Dragon Keeper, with some additional elements added. It’s also similar to the Farm Frenzy game we got a few months ago, but with a different theme. You could easily have called it Farm Frenzy: Dragon Keeper. :) I've said many times before that Time Management games are one of the least liked genres for me, but as with the Farm Frenzy games, I actually enjoyed playing this one. I never felt stressed for time, and enjoyed progressing, and winning achievements, leveling up, earning new items such as bottles and combs, new dragons, helpers etc. It would have been nice to see more dragons. There’s only three.
I tend to turn music off when i'm playing games, but the music isn't overly annoying. The game play music fits with the theme, so have scored this reasonably. There’s no way to change the music unless you are a coder and have the appropriate editing software. think this game was made with unity???
I’d give this game the same score as Dragon Keeper for entertainment and family fun factor. I'm sure the young 'uns will love the cute dragons, though parents will need to help when the levels get more complex. :)
Scoring
Gameplay – 8
Graphics – 9
Audio – 6.5
Re-playability – 7
Originality – 7
Total = 37.5 out of 50 which is equivalent to 7.5 out of 10
Problems:
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums in the game discussion section. If you’ve installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn’t guaranteed. It’s always worth checking out the free games sites as sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them as is Dragon Keeper 2 from Jenkat Games.
If you have any problems installing or getting to work today's game please go HERE for help.
