Installation:
Dragon downloads to a 21.9 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives can save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is 25.8 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Dragon

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop, three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

Introduction:
The Chinese civilization is one of the oldest in the world. According to some scientists, its age may be over 5000 years. According to a legend, the last ruler of the Xia dynasty was extraordinary cruel. He wanted to conquer the whole country so he sent the magic of dragons to the neighboring tribes.
In the game Dragon you have a unique chance to help and protect the Chinese civilization from the wild beast, so travel to the Great Chinese Wall and join the battle! The only way to defeat the dragon is to reduce the size of its body which consists of multi-colored balls. Thus, your goal is to make a row of three or more identical balls and knock them out. For this purpose, you need to shoot the balls so that the colors match. While you are doing so, you can also catch special bonuses which will help you get rid of the beast as soon as possible. You can play with only 3 elements or make longer chains and win more points; it's all up to you. After you destroy all the balls, the dragon will simply disappear from the playing field and the ancient Chinese pagodas will be rescued. You will be astonished with the animation in the ravishing game Dragon: it will make you forget about the worries of your everyday life and move you to the world of China. Chinese music will add some romance to this atmosphere and you will find yourself shooting the balls for hours without getting weary of the game. Restore the balance of the good and the evil in the game Dragon!

The Game:
This is a decent Zuma/butterfly/Luxor clone, with some extra features not found in these games. The graphics and music are pleasant, and the game play is excellent, partly because of the extra incentives such as collecting letters to make a “secret” word and collecting coins; both tasks give you extra lives if you attain the targets. These and other power ups make this a very strong game that will definitely be added to my games library, as well as to both my children’s computers. They both like this genre of puzzle/strategy game, especially my daughter. The game is over a decade old now so don’t expect the latest graphics; that said, the graphics are okay.
If you miss today's game giveaway you can always get the game via MyPlayCity 24/7 HERE.

Having problems installing today's game?
If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Dragon to work please visit the problems section, which you can find in the FAQ's thread HERE. Also, read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted. The main issue we have is with the giveaway wrapper, which uses a Themida based code to protect the games executable. Unfortunately, Themida is also used to hide malware; so, as a precaution, some security software may block the installation and sometimes even delete the executable file. Blocking or deletion is usually determined partly by the way your computer is set up. Usually, you'll get a message saying ''the file is corrupted'', but in reality, the files are okay. There are a couple of things you can do to overcome this issue. The first is to reboot in safe mode with networking, install the game then reboot, or secondly, you can (at your own risk) temporarily turn off your security, install the game, then turn your security back on. A note of reassurance to those that choose the latter and quicker method. The game giveaway team have been giving away games for over a decade (Dec 2006 & prior to that, via the main site 2 or 3 times weekly from Oct 2006 to Dec 2006) and have 'NEVER' given away a game infected with malware; they always test every giveaway with several of the top anti-malware suites to ensure all games are free from malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, if you have a problem getting the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve or if you have a game to offer the community you can do so HERE

A lovely game. I like the old-style graphics. Dragon runs very well on both Windows 7 and Windows XP. Completing one of the 88 levels takes only minutes, so this is an excellent casual game for me and the copy on my old XP machine will be enjoyed when visitors bring kids with them. Windows XP seems to be slowing down. My XP machine was absolutely blazing fast just after the turn of the century, but now seems to have slowed down quite a bit. Dragon runs just fine, though.

Uninstalled; looked like a good game, except for the fact that it essentially crashed my computer. No screens of death, but it wiped out my Task and Toolbars. When I initiated a hard restart it kicked me into "Safe Mode". I ran "Dragon" again and that's when I verified that "Dragon" was causing the problem. I hope you don't have the same problem.

Simple and fun. It seems this is from 2002.
It kept my score and allowed me to exit and start again where I left off. I did end up downloading it direct from myplaycity so I could add it to another computer after game give away of the day is over.

The game downloaded and installed on windows 10. The game is a zuma type game where you have to hit 3 or more coloured balls to clear them. I found I enjoyed playing it more than I thought I would. The thing I enjoyed the most were the power - ups you got when playing. I am definitely keeping this game for a while.

The game is very nice and no problem installing, the very big downside for me is that the game doesn't save on exit.
After going to options, I had to start at the beginning, tried and after leaving the game you also have to start from the beginning.
That's a real pity, else the game would have definitely been a keeper.

Hi Irene, a lot of the games from ten plus years ago had save systems that only saved every 5 to 10 levels. Apart from a brief foray into the game last night to jog my memory, it's been a decade since I last played this game in depth as I much prefer the Luxor and Zuma versions and others such as Atlantic sky Patrol and cannot remember the save system for Dragon. I'm sure there is one, but I don't have time to play the game properly this weekend to find out, for the reasons below; sorry.

I have a cousin visiting later this week who is expecting to watch our old cine films from when we were kids - ranging from the late 50's to the mid-seventies. (assuming I can find my old projector and silver screen in the attic; which is buried somewhere under an overflowing pile of stuff going back 45+ years, such as boxes of books, records, CD's, cassettes, old computers + bits, bags of old clothes, university notes, all the kids old toys etc) Unfortunately, I'm still in the process of editing the thousands of feet of film that my grandfather gave me before he passed 25 years ago. I promised I would have them completed by the time he arrives. We are going to my aunts funeral the following day and I'd hoped to take some camcorder copies of the best of the films for my brother, sister other cousins (I intend to have them all scanned eventually for the best quality results, but for now camcorder recording should suffice). I'm not even a quarter of the way through the reels of film yet. The editing machine I have is ancient (a Boots cine editor 3) and isn't easy to use, so I'm struggling to edit out the stuff no one wants to watch such as my grandfather's habit of filming rows of flower beds and rose bushes etc. I can guarantee every 30 feet of film he took would include a 30 second shot of the latest flowers in their garden, or when they went for a stroll in the local park or when we were on vacation. That said, some of the footage he took is really interesting, such as the arrival of the local football team (Burnley) from the final, when half the town met them in the town center to cheer them on (sometime in the 1960's). :)

That worked, the levels are along a kind of wall, and the game is saved at every building.
Thanks :)

Irene, it saved on exit for me, no problem. Left the game, restarted it, made sure to select my name as the player, and it took me right back from where I left off, definitely DIDN'T need to start over. Most perplexing to me is the way the balls sometimes bounce off one another instead of taking out a set of three all the time. IE there are two there of one color, you shoot in a third and instead of taking it out, it either replaces another color, or just completely bounces away from it all together. Weird.

Whiterabbit,
I have to admit that I find your private life quite fascinating. I rarely have time to play the free games offered, but I always have time to read your comments.

My wife says I say too much, and has often scolded me after a dinner with friends and family and even strangers we meet on the road. I've always been an open book.
