I've been playing this game for several hours which I downloaded on the Toomky Games website. I am playing on Linux Mint 20.3 64 bit using WINE (Windows Emulator). It plays smoothly and I've gone full screen, windowed and wide screen with no issue. That said, this is one of the strangest HOGs I've played. First you seem to wander from room to room with no clear reason why you need to. There is no sparkles to guide you, to a pile and if you hover your cursor over the piles you just did, you find nothing to collect adding to the confusion. The doors require keys but, no clear cut way to get those keys. Need a hint? Good luck with that because the hint does not work in every room and you are penalized if you click randomly. When you manage to get a puzzle, the skip button is painfully slow, and some of those puzzles have no directions so you're just wasting time flipping tiles or guessing the correct placement of pictures, colored balls or in recreating a picture on the wall. The pieces move but, no guide to let you know you've chosen the correct placement by locking the piece or dimming it so you know to build around it. The only puzzle that locks when correctly solved is the jigsaw puzzles and it's pretty easy to build from the border out but the paintings have no borders you can use or if it does, they're of no help to let you know you've lined the pieces correctly. You have no notes/log to thumb through and there is no map to use. You do a lot of back tracking and it's not clear why you need some of the items which do not carry over once you finally get the key. The keys open each level apparently but other than the odd animal or fantasy character, there doesn't seem to be a mission clearly laid out, nothing to collect to keep like swords, apples or coins. The graphics are quite dated. I usually turn off voiced dialogues and music. And usually there is some sort of story board but not here. You interact with the animals but it's more like they tell you to do them a favor and then you get a key or some other tool to use but you don't know where. This is a frustrating game. Still it is challenging if only because basically you're on your own.

There is no sparkles to guide you, to a pile and if you hover your cursor over the piles you just did, you find nothing to collect adding to the confusion should have read: There are no sparkles to let you know you need to search until you hover your mouse over the piles. They sparkle with the magnifying glass, even after you searched the worded items, the pile will still appear you need to search it wasting your time returning to the pile only to see you don't need to search it. The sparkles do not disappear after you've exhausted that search adding to the confusion.

A fairly enjoyable hidden object/puzzle/adventure game that's new to me. Installed and running fine on Win 10; note that upon first running, it said it wanted to install "direct play" but allowed me to say no (with a warning that the game might not work well) and it's working fine. My reasoning was that it's an older game, so chances are I have a later and better version of what they wanted to install.
I like that there's a nice mix of hidden object games and puzzles. Biggest negative is that oddly, when you open a puzzle, there are no instructions as to what to do with it. Some were fairly easy to figure out, but a couple stumped me (in terms of just knowing what it wanted me to do, not with actually solving it), so eventually I found a walkthrough; again, I didn't need the solutions, I needed to know what to do. Similarly, no map, and the hints aren't always available to show next steps, so once in a while, having a walkthough to tell me where to go next was useful. On the plus side, while so far the puzzles haven't been too difficult, they are challenging enough to make it entertaining, and, yay, the hidden object puzzles are light enough to see everything and use proper language (only one obvious misspelling so far.)
Overall, worth installing if you like this type of fame (and I really do.)

neme,

Thank you for your feedback; Unfortunately, the amount of time I spent on yesterdays review and tomorrows
game I've had no time to even play today's game yet.

I'm still working on tomorrows limited giveaway which has taken many hours of time to complete. Still got to transfer it over from my written notes (eight pages of A5 paper plus many screen captures) to a document so that I can paste it to the giveaway comments.

Looks like nice, sharp graphics. What I always want to know about these games is: Can the mini-games/puzzles be skipped. Sometimes I just don't understand what they want me to do, or I don't want to bother, and worst scenario, I get stuck and can't move on. So-I like being able to click on SKIP.

I played this way back in Nov. 2010. Don't know if I got it here or not but I'm frugal and only d/l free games. I recommend this one!

Dominic Crane’s Dreamscape Mystery has never been given away before.

I spent an inordinate amount of time reviewing yesterdays 3D breakout game; (over 7 hours), and have still a long way to go before finishing the review for Mondays limited giveaway (which is well worth checking out); so, I doubt I'll have time to post any review for todays game.

If I do grab some time, I'll post some images and video links, but no promises.

Have a great day, regards Whiterabbit-uk.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Other Free Games:
For other free games, please check Delenn's threads over in the giveaway forums HERE (non-Steam games) and HERE (Steam games) for the latest freebies; it's kept up to date frequently, whenever a free game becomes available, (thanks for keeping this up to date Delenn, very much appreciated).

Also, for the latest Steam sales check THIS Steam database site out. You can list the games in 'price' & 'percentage off' by clicking the headers. If you link SteamDB (the Steam database) with your Steam account, all games that you already have will be highlighted in green and those in blue are on your wish list. When there are Steam games being given away, you'll see the percentage off as 100%. It's worth checking this regularly to make sure you don't miss the best deals and freebies. Delenn usually posts links to all free games within several hours of them going live, so check her links at the top of this comment as well.
Don't forget to check Indie Gala's freebie section HERE, then click on the Showcase header, selecting freebies from the drop down menu; the most recent additions include:

1) ... The Last Enchantress: Revival, (choice-based fantasy game, contains adult themes and not suitable for children)

2) ... Leisure Suit Larry 1 - In the Land of the Lounge Lizards (a returning giveaway)

3) ... Avani: The Primal Land (Explore, gather, learn, craft and build in the world of Avani: The Primal Land. Fight, hunt and tame wild animals. Animals have their own genetics and no animal is like the other. The interactive taming process allows making a real bond with each tame. Avani offers a unique crafting system combined with a huge skill tree and an intuitive building system mixed with traditional survival game elements)

4) ... Cov Shooter (Try to survive as many waves as possible, upgrade your stats and weapons to do that)

5) ... WTC : Relentless Protagonist [Sxs}, (a short mostly KINETIC comedy/drama visual novel)

6) ... Pixel Puzzles 2: Space, (removed)

7) ... Out of Puberty: Chapter 1 (graphic novel, contains adult themes and not suitable for children)

8) ... Neon Invasion Earth, (space invaders)

9) ... Figment (removed)

The following (previously) free games have now been removed from the free library: Revolution Ace, Six Sides of the World, Byte Family, Alone on Mars, Garfield Kart, Nostradamus the Last Prophecy, Snowball, Pixel Puzzles 2: Christmas , Die Young (Full version), Distortions, Dino Run DX, Cheap Golf, Kill Em All, Dead Hungry Diner, and Contract with the Devil. All remaining freebies can be found in the showcase section (113 games are available). Not all games that go into the showcase remain free and are removed after a short period; so, you should grab them as soon as you can.

The latest Epic Game is Windbound - Shipwrecked alone on an uncharted island, explore, adapt and navigate the land and perilous seas to stay alive. As Kara, you are a warrior, caught at sea in a fierce storm, adrift from your tribe. Thrown from your boat, at the mercy of the turbulent waters, you are tossed on to the shores of the Forbidden Islands, a mysterious paradise.

Next Thursday 17th February we will be getting Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons - Guide two brothers on an epic fairy tale journey from visionary Swedish film director, Josef Fares and top-tier developer Starbreeze Studios. This is one journey you will never forget. (This game is also included in the latest Humble Choice bundle as a Steam key - see below for the Humble Choice details).
The best Indie Bundles sites that have been operating from around 2011 are the Humble Bundle and Indie Gala sites (though the latter isn't as good as it used to be) where you'll sometimes find decent bundles with over 90% off the usual price of the games included in the bundles. The Humble site is in my opinion the best; though a more recent addition that is worth checking out called Fanatical games looks to be a serious contender for that title as they have some very good bundles. You can find Fanatical games (that used to be called Bundle stars) HERE.

I've restarted a project I originally started back in 2008 that used to be called Good Games to Grab, where I posted free games over in the forums on a daily basis. I won't be posting them daily this time; only as and when I have time and the inclination. You can find the new forum section entitled 'Free Game Project' HERE

So far, I've posted eight excellent PC games, plus one android game as well as suggested or linked to others similar to the ones posted i.e.

1) ... Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe (a squad based solo shooter)
2) ... Battlegroup 44 (a free-standing mod for Battlefield 2 that is a follow up to the original Battlefield 1942)
3) ... Slam Tilt (an excellent pinball game with four tables)
4) ... 3-D Ultra Pinball: Creep Night, (one of my all-time favourite pinball games from the mid 90's).
5} ... Breakquest (one of my all-time top ten 2D breakouts)
6) ... Messy Paths (an android game)
7) ... Castlevania The Lecarde Chronicles (fan made free standing Castelvania game)
8) ... Conflict Vietnam (third person squad-based shooter)
9) ... Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2006 Trophy Season (a linear hunting game)

I'll be adding over the coming weeks.

Black And White Apocalypse that was given away some weeks ago by the developer Hammergames is always free and can also be downloaded as a colour version. The community member Space pointed this out at the time. You can find both versions over on itch.io via the following links Black & White version, and Coloured version. :)

You can also find 'all nine' of the developers' games (for free) HERE. Some of them look like they are worth investigating. :)

The latest Humble Choice bundle went live on Tuesday and includes eight games plus one DLC pack; i.e. Borderlands 3 with the director's cut DLC included, Black Book, Per Aspera, Just Die Already, Before We leave, Paradise Lost, Everhood and Calico. For original Humble Bundle subscribers, the cost is $12/£8.99 with other benefits such as access to a lot of indie titles for free while subscribed and a percentage off other purchases from the Humble store. This increases the longer you keep subscribed up to a year with 20% off all none bundle purchases. (1 month sub' gives 10% off, 3 months sub' gives 15% off and six months sub 'gives 17% off)

The latest Humble Bundle called **** Cancer, that costs a minimum of £7.40 (would normally cost you almost £207) includes a fantastic mix of AAA and substantial indie arcade games. Every penny/cent goes to cancer research. The bundle includes World War Z: Aftermath, Dead by Daylight, Payday 2, Magika, Dungeon of the Endless, theHunter: Call of the Wild, Homeworld Remastered Collection, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, Little Nightmares, Brothers _ A Tale of two Sons, Peppy's Adventure, Red Faction Armageddon, Hamiltons Great Adventure. You can find details of the bundle that ends Friday 18th February HERE (in a few weeks I may be giving away some of the Steam keys from that bundle as I already had ten of the twelve titles. It was still worth getting because I wanted World War Z: Aftermath, to play cooperatively with friends, which normally costs £30.99); that said I'd forgotten I'd piucked the game up previously via Epic Games when it was given away last year.

Dear Esther: Landmark Edition an atmospheric walking sim is free over on Steam Payday 2 at the moment, but ends tomorrow.
If you have Amazon Prime, the February games are now available. You can get Stellaris on GOG for free. Visit Prime Gaming for details.

Stay safe everyone.
