Some of the free games over at Indie Gala that are listed and hyperlinked at the end of this review have changed since last week and today is the last chance to get ''Oxenfree'' (worth £14.99/$19.99/€19.99) free from Epic Games. The free game will be changing to the non Steam version of ''The Witness'' (worth £29.99/$39.99/€36.99/₽699 via Steam) later today.

I've only had time to play today's game for a short time. I'll update the review later today if I have time.

Evil enemies have stolen all his eggs and now the continuation of the genus under threat. Now he needs to save all the eggs and assistant him in this difficult journey will be....pepper!!!! Red pepper, meal which, the hero will be able to spew fire!

Installation:

Dino Dawn downloads to a 73 MB zip file that unzips to two files, (a set-up executable and a read me). The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed if you wish. The installed game is approximately 146 MB in size.

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop; the shortcut to the game, plus three others ''Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and a shortcut to a free online game. These latter three shortcuts can be deleted once the game has been installed. The Themida wrapper may alert your security and even block the installation; there are details about this issue in the read me that unpacks from the downloaded zip file.

The Game:

Despite having been released for almost a year on Steam, there are no reviews for Dino Dawn and the only a couple of videos from the distributor, Falcoware Games and the Steam Store.

Dino Dawn is a cartoon like platformer where you collect dinosaur eggs, avoiding various obstacles and moving around parts of each level using moving ramps, ladders etc. To destroy enemies you can either jump on them or use the red peppers (that look like carrots). To progress to the next level you have to collect all the dinosaur eggs on each level. you do get a white arrow that points to the nearest egg There is a level map that allow you to replay previous levels; you start with four lives. Each level has different coloured platforms.

Conclusion:

A reasonable retro looking action platformer with cartoon like graphics. If you enjoy platform games then check this out. It's not my favorite genre. There are only a few platform games I've really enjoyed plying over the years (a Star Wars platformer from a Play Station game around the mid 1990's, as well as Gish, Wik & the Fable of Souls and Super Meat Boy); each having an original slant on the genre).

Problems getting the game to work:

If you're having problems installing or activating or getting Dino Dawn to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e. the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try white-listing the setup.gcd file. In the almost 12 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
