Devil Tears is a 2D Puzzle Platformer released Oct 12, 2021 on steam and has never been given away before on GOTD. Your character needs to get to the exit on each level while avoiding or using the dropping objects in order to reach your objective as well as avoiding spikes on the ground.
While it looks similar to normal platform games like a certain italian plumber from Nintendo which is based on action platforming, in this one you only need to move left or right and will automatically jump up one level only from your characters level so its more of a puzzle than platformer. There is some action on the other hand and not just a puzzle as you have to also avoid the falling objects and time the spikes coming out of the floor as well. Controls are WASD or Arrow keys which is a plus to have a choice, as well as plenty of options in the menus.
Initially started easy but with no pause (to see the level layout) that should be added and the immediate dropping of the objects at the start, it can get hard quite fast at level 3. The combination of having to think through the level without the pause PLUS the avoidance of both falling objects and spikes on the ground is quite the challenge. The game is also on the short side with 10 levels based on the steam achievements but good luck getting to the end :).
You get three lives total and level progress is saved while still having extra lives only as well. So while you can save and come back if you just need a break, there is no way to really continue from a later level you fail on losing all your lives and will have to start over. This could be added as an easy mode as without that it may be quite frustrating to some people who will give up having to start from the beginning each time. Its ok to make a challenging game but having the difficulty selector will entice more people to try or keep it. That could be changed but then adjusting the steam achievement also to not give in that case is ok. So this one is on the hard side right now and quite a challenge, perhaps too great for some... probably going to have to put down the coffee for this one if you want to try it. On a side note, just keep in mind that this is a GameMaker Studio 2 game created from a template base.
