Installation:

Detective Solitaire: Inspector Magic downloads to a 43.1 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set up file and a readme). Those with multiple hard drives are able to save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Detective Solitaire - Inspector Magic

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop. three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

The Game:

There's not much to say about todays game giveaway. If you've played a few different solitaire games you'll know what to expect. The options menu allows you to choose from several different card designs and ther eis a tutoriasal that you can cancel if you wish. There are two modes Newbie and Professional mode. You can replay any level in Newbie mode but only the entire pack can be replayed in pro mode.. The pro mode is unavailable until you've played the complete first pack. There are twelve different area's to unlock, each comprising of ten different card layouts, so this game should keep most solitaire fans happy for several hours at least, with 120 levels to play.

The game is standard solitaire, which works on the principle of a chain, where a card is taken from the board and placed on the exposed card that's located next to the main deck. It can be any suit but must be either one lower or one higher than the than the exposed deck card. The longer the length of the chain you create the more bonus coins you earn. These can be spent in the shop on power ups such as jokers, mulligans, and shuffle. The Mulligan (as any golfer would know) allows you to undo any last action in the game including using your bonuses. The shuffle puts all the cards back in the deck and deals new cards on the board. The joker changes any open card into a joker. These can be removed by any card you choose. and are useful in extending the length of chains you can create, thus earning higher rewards. There are also gold-colored cards that earn extra points and if you managed to collect all of them completes the level as a perfect score. There are also twenty-one awards to be earned, for example Using the shuffle bonus 100 ties earns the Interesting Facts award, Using the joker bonus earns the Potion Ingredients, using it 50 times earns the Shred Wool award.

Conclusion:

Detective Solitaire: Inspector Magic is standard solitaire game with the usual extra's and a magical detective theme, that only presents as different backgrounds e.g. Crime Scene, Old Manor, First Clues and Secret hideout and awards. If you like solitaire games this one is okay. It looks good and the different card l;ayouts can be quite challenging. The power ups you earn or buy via the in game shop can help you get perfect scores, but there's nothing that stands out in this game. 7 out of 10 for game play.

Problems getting the game to work:

If you're having problems installing or activating or getting Detective Solitaire: Inspector Magic to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try whitelisting the setup.gcd file. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
