If you receive a key for Destroyer: Invasion please give some feedback about your opinion of the game, for example, what you liked or disliked about it, or how it could be improved from your point of view . If you don't like this genre at all, please explain why. What, improvements, if any, would change your opinion? There are thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want to see something different or something with more originality?

Installation:

Assuming you win a Steam key for Destroyer: Invasion once you've found it (should be sent to the email you used to enter the giveaway - it must be the email you first used to sign into the game giveaway site. If you’ve used a throwaway email there may be problems getting a key, because the key may be sent to that email. If you have any problems use the contact form. Hopefully the giveaway team will repost the information they posted several weeks qgo explaining the email situation. ) you have to activate the game via your Steam client. Once activated it will be permanently tied to your Steam profile and you'll be able to install the game at any time, anywhere on any computer, so long as you can validate who you are (usually via emails etc.). If you don't have a Steam account you will first have to download and install the Steam client HERE

Then create a Steam profile/account. Once that has been completed you can input the Steam code that you've received (after completing the form filling) via the game button along the top of the Steam client, (located between friends and Help). From the drop down menu select 'Activate a product on Steam'. This opens a product activation window. Just follow the prompts to complete activation. Once the Steam code has been accepted, the game will be permanently associated with your Steam account and can be installed any time you wish.

You have been commissioned as a Captain, and charged with the command of a squadron of fighter drones. We have had little time to prepare, but crews have been working non-stop. Through blood, sweat, and the tears of potatoes, they have crafted a fine, strong fighter to battle our enemies. Forced into battle, you must pilot your limited number of fighter drones against the looming menace, huge motherships with tons of cannons, turrets, and multitudes of other weapons and targets. You have unlimited lasers and bombs, but you must avoid massive amounts of incoming ordinance, survive if you can so you don't run out of fighters, and don't let them reach our new home!

Report directly to the Supreme Commander, he will be personally handling your mission briefings. Science and Engineering experts are working 31 hours a day to try and analyze the enemy and unlock powerful upgrades for your drones, but the enemy won't wait for them. Get out there and stop that alien threat before they reach the planet!

You can find a link to a demo of the game via Steam HERE. The download is 62.9MB in size and does not require Steam to play. The installed game is 352MB in size. The default installation path is as follows

The game was originally released on Steam via the now defunct Greenlight project. You can see the communities comments about the game HERE. It was officially released on Steam on the 14th July 2017 and has seen three updates so far.

When you start the game via Steam you are given two options. apparently there is a glitch using a game pad unless you play via Win 10, so you are given two choices; Play Destroyer: Invasion or Play Destroyer win 10 version.

You can pass the intro scene by pressing the Esc key, this will then take you directly to the games main menu where you can choose either continue or start a new game. Ten Steam achievements were added to the game shortly after it was officially released last month (July 2017) and include such titles as You Shoot like Little Girl (which I won on my first play), If you manage to survive a complete run at full speed with at least 10 targets destroyed you'll earn the title Threading the Needle, Destroy four engines in a single fighter run and earn the achievement Cut 'em to the quick. Scoring points will eventually earn you three awards 50 000, 100 000 & 150 000, plus others. (see image of the listed achievements). Each level is time limited, using MF units, which are displayed after you lose a fighter. At the same time you'll be able to see how many targets remain on that level. If you lose you have to restart at the beginning of the level you failed. Once you've completed a stage, it is saved and you are able to continue from that point. There is no randomness in the game play in that to complete a level you need to destroy all of the cannons and engines of the alien invader to complete the level. If you lose all of your ships re playing the level is basically the same each time you play that level apart from where you decide to move your fighter. As you progress the alien invaders become harder to destroy and new weapons are introduced.

Conclusion:

If you like shmups, Destroyer: Invasion is a different take on the genre. Well worth investigating. It's not one of those bullet hell types though it can be frustrating at times as you only get so many attempts to destroy the boss ships (watch the MF countdown) before you have to start over again.

Personally I find the left hand pane (with the hand) spoils the overall look of the game and would be much improved if the developer replaced that side with images that change from level to level. Scenes appropriate to the game play, alien ships exploding etc. I would also like to see the actual game play area increased in size.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the developer MFAFB Games for giving away Steam keys for Destroyer: Invasion and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games.
