Defence to Death
In Brief
A simple Tower Defence game
The Game
Defence to Death created by Laush Studios is a tower defense game created using the Unity game engine. The game initially launches a configuration window that enables you to select Screen resolutions 1600x900, 1366x768, 1360x768, 1280x720 or 1176x664. There are three graphic quality settings Fastest, good and Fantastic. On low spec computers i.e. single core CPU's I recommend choosing the fastest setting. you lose some graphic quality, but it will allow you to play the game normally with no jittery game play. If you have multi monitor display, you can also choose which monitor the game will play from.
As with all tower defence games you are provided with different types of weapons,. The choice in this game is limited to only four types, that include Turrets, rockets, Lasers and freeze machines. Each weapon can be upgraded three times. For example the weakest of the attacking weapons the turret gun, which costs 100 gold; it can be upgraded to level two and adds three more barrels to the original gun making it much more effective. Upgrading it to level three doubles the amount of damage it does compared to a level two turret.
The game appears to be limited to 9 levels, which means this game will not last very long. I also found the upgrade system didn't work. When you click on a tower that has been created a small window appears. It tells you how much it costs to upgrade the tower and says click on the image, but this doesn't do anything. I tried multiple times on multiple levels, but could not get a tower to upgrade to level 2. The lower image works though; If you click on that, you sell the tower for a fraction of what it cost to build.
As this is free courtesy of Falcoware games, I would say download it if you enjoy tower defence games; however, if you are a TD aficionado, you'll be sorely disappointed. The levels are very short runs, with only six tower placements on each map and only 5 attack waves. You can speed up the attack waves to double the speed. Personally I found it quite boring, with no environmental changes between levels, to at least give your eyes a rest from the bleak mid winter look.
If you want a decent tower defence game I highly recommend the following TD games; they are 'some' of my favorites: Defense Grid: The Awakening, Towers of Altrac (I originally gave this a thumbs down, but the developer continued to update it both graphically and difficulty until it became one of my favorite TD games), Bloons TD 6 (or the free versions called Bloons TD: Battles and Bloons Adventure Time TD), Revenge of the Titans, Plants vs. Zombies (demo available), and the first person Sanctum (demo available) or Sanctum 2Sanctum 2

This "powered by Falco" game, as well as any other Falco games don't work on my copy of XP. No error logs or anything. The opening screen with the progress bar work, but nothing after that. The game never appears and a browser window opens. Toomky games work.

krAktOs, find DeadDefence.exe and try to run it manually.

Tried that, too. Nothing, no splash screen, no browser, just never opens or runs.
