    The Game:
The game started of as I'd expected, with waves of sea creatures attacking you from the shore line and slowly making their way to the village. The mechanics are pretty easy to pick up as there isn't as much calculation as I thought there would be. i.e. point your mouse just before where the monster is going to be,and fire away. Once you get past level 3 you can start to purchase new weapons. The self guided missiles are the obvious choice as they fire automatically every several seconds, choosing their own targets. I was thoroughly enjoying the game up until it crashed at level 7 and continues to crash every time I boot level 7 up. some fatal error w.r.t. object_o_bullet_fly. You can see the error message below in a separate comment.
From the videos of the game, which is to be released on Steam soon (was supposed to have been released on the 8th November) the game reminds me of Defendoooooor!! and very vaguely of Plants vs. Zombies. I loved the latter game immensely and defendoooooor! was a decent TD game as well, so was looking forwards to checking this one out. I'm wondering whether it has been released via Falcoware and then given away for us to basically beta test the game as it hasn't been released on Steam despite an original 8th November release date??? I've never come across this issue apart from an interesting take on the breakout genre from way back Feb 2008 called Arcon Toys that was originally released when Win 95 was king and which wouldn't work on Win XP so all those running Win XP received Memory Access Failure (MAV) messages. I will keep an eye open via Steam to see how this game progresses. Depending on whether the issue is a global one (I'm hoping the community will report any issues similar to the one I'm reporting), and that the developer fixes the issue; I'll probably purchase the game as via Steam once I know its been fixed.
You can see several in-game videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE (русский - Russian commentary from the developer).

    Whiterabbit-uk,

So far, of the two community members reporting game play feedback, one has managed to get to level 18 with no crashes, but the only other community member giving feedback had a crash at level 31. This together with the two crashes I received would 'imply' that there is a bug that needs fixing in this game. To the developer, it would be nice to receive some feedback from you in view of these problems. :)

Unfortunately every time I play level 7 I receive the following error message so am unable to progress past this level. A great shame as I was enjoying playing this game. It's an interesting mix of Tower Defense and defender game play with cute cartoon like graphics. I do hope the developers fix the issue?
This may just be an issue with my computer, (though judging from the error message it does seem more likely to be a game breaking bug) so please do download and check the game out. It'll take no more than 10 minutes to get to level 7.
Unlike most tower defense games, where allowing the enemy to get past your defenses means you have fewer lives in the next level. In Deep Ocean Rush, if any of the sea creatures manages to get past your defenses, its not carried on to the next level; all that this affects is the amount of gold you will receive at the end of the level. Initially you get 5 lives that reboot at the beginning of each level, but you can upgrade your number of lives. They are quite cheap so you can easily add several at little cost. If you do lose lives and consequently get less gold, this does impact on your ability to upgrade your weapons, which makes later levels harder to beat as more and harder to kill sea creatures are introduced as you progress, including boss creatures that I later discovered (see my second comment) take many more hits to kill.
    fatal-error
I think it may be the choice of which secondary weapon you choose that is the issue. If I just let the game run, when level 7 starts, rockets are automatically fired, when they hit their target is when the Fatal Error occurs.
I would suggest to any community member willing to help out that they initially don't select the rockets (the third weapon from the selection screen) and see if they can pass level seven; then, when they can buy another weapon choose the rockets and see if that kills the game. That said, The rockets worked okay for levels five and six. Unfortunately there's no button to start a new game and you cannot replay previous levels once you've completed them. I would suggest to the developer that they add the ability to start a fresh game and allow previous levels to be replayed as this will not only allow more replayability, it will enable those who do not get a perfect score at the end of the level to retry the level so that they can earn more gold. Another addition would be a high score table so that family and friends can play the game ad compete between each other..

    addendum:
I found where the games saves are located i.e. in the hidden folder AppData/Local/DeepOceanRush/ From there I initially deleted the save_set.save and this allowed me to progress; however, even though I looked like I was progressing from level 7 to 8 and then to 9, when I completed the levels they were labelled level 2 and 3 respectively; also, the amount of gold I originally had was reduced to virtually zero, so I couldn't buy any new weapons initially. So I then deleted the same file again plus the save_lvl.save and was able to start from the beginning again. This time I selected a different weapon initially, then selected the rockets around level 5 (as they are extremely effective). This time the game didn't crash at level 7 and I was able to get as far as level 15 before it crashed again, but this time with a different error message . It was a Memory Allocation failed: attempting to allocate 9590400 bytes. at gml_Script_background_add. you can see the error message below.
    fatal-error-2
Despite enjoying this game, I did find that once I'd selected then upgraded the rockets three times (giving me three rockets every several seconds on top of the main weappon) I was able to easily survive all the waves that hit me including the first boss level at level 10 with little effort. Despite this I would expect the game to become much more difficult as you progress through the 100 levels, so am still keen on buying this game once it has been fixed. (I wonder if the developer will give the game away again once all the bugs have been removed?)

Whiterabbit-uk, I got to level 31 before the game crashed on me, so it isn't just you suffering the crashes.
It does seem to be an enjoyable game with the difficulty level increasing at a manageable rate. I would find it helpful to have a proper exit button rather than having to press 'Esc'.

    emperor,
I do suspect we are beta testing this for the developer. Which means i hope they do give us the opportunity to see this again when the bugs have been fixed. :)

    Thanks for your feedback

emperor, Would it be possible to either post a screen capture. I use https://postimages.org/ as the host site which is free to use, then once uploaded select 'hotlink for website and the 640 x 480 (for message board) size as this is perfect for this comments section. This will then enable the community to see the error message screen capture or comment on the error message that is being presented.

This would help the developers identify where to look when bug testing. If you've not deleted the save files yet, playing the game again, will probably throw up the exact same message. Thanks in advance. :)

Whiterabbit-uk, Sorry, but I can't upload an error message as I tried the level again and this time it worked without a problem. That doesn't mean I won't get any more error messages in the future, but the one I had previously has not been repeated. It pleases me, but doesn't help you.

emperor, No problem; however, if you do get another error message please make a note of what it says and post it. This may help the developers fix any bugs (hopefully). Thank you in advance for any feedback, appreciated.

Whiterabbit-uk, I have now sort of completed the game, without further crashes. Between my first comment and my second one above my Windows 7 system decided it needed to run chkdsk when I started up, and after that there was not any hint of a crash.

I say 'sort of completed' because there are some oddities towards the end. The level counter showed me I was on level 100, but there was no boss. I was able to play a level beyond that, which is not shown on the progress bar, which it said was level 99. After that I was able to play another level which showed as 100, and this time there was a boss. I am now onto level 101 (by my reckoning, level 103).

My initial enjoyment of this game turned to disappointment as it stopped being challenging after about level 50. There are only three types of monster (apart from the bosses) and they do not grow in resilience or speed. Their numbers also do not grow very much over many levels. Thus there is a sameness to a lot of the later levels. It is also possible to get to the point with the missiles and the tesla coil that no manual intervention is needed. For all the levels in the 90s I did not upgrade the weapons or use the napalm and super-charges at all, and the levels were still completed without any monsters getting through.

The weapons can be improved far quicker than the monster challenge grows. To improve the game and make it worth playing the later levels, I think more types of monster are needed, that are more resistant to the defensive weapons, and/or the numbers and speed of the existing types need to increase in line with the increase in firepower. This has the potential to be a really enjoyable game if some changes were made. As it stands, I think it is too long for the challenge it presents.

    emperor,

Thank you for your reply. I found the same with respect to hardly needed to bother shooting from the cannon as the homing rockets did virtually all the work after several levels, and I would be left twiddling my fingers, lol. There are a few games similar but much better than this, but even those tend to become too easy once you've upgraded your weapons for example, defendoooorll

See my Steam review of Defendoooor HERE.

I joined Steam Jan 2009, this was the first game I've ever started and played through in one session (after a few false starts and leaving it running for hours after I got called away and had forgotten to turn the game off; hence the 11 hours, despite the full play-through only taking 1 hr 25min

Отличная игра Прошёл до 18 уровня без сбоев.
Единственное пожелание, чтобы была возможность начать игру под другим именем.

This is the translation of the above I got from an on line translation service:

Excellent game Has passed up to 18 levels without failures.
Unique wish that there was a possibility to begin game under other name.
