To solve the mystery of the asylum, you'll need to search for hundreds of items buried within the decaying rooms and hallways, and use special skills that allow you to locate objects quickly. Discover and use powerful artifacts, track your achievements, and experience multiple game modes, including the appropriately named "Scary nightmare mode." The game is a little creepy to be honest but still offers a unique experience on how hidden object games are played. This game is a little bit harder than your usual hidden object games and I found objects hard to find at first.
I found the life system / health meter a bit of an odd element in a hidden object game as traditionally you see that in some Role Playing Games.
Even though the game requires 1.6ghz for the processor I had no issues playing on the Intel Celeron N4020 1.1ghz processor as It's similar in power to some of the very early iterations of Core I3.
I'm still learning the ins and outs of this game but are very satisfied in general on today's giveaway given its "different" nature.

sailorbear510 aka Jason,
I agree. It's like getting two games in one. The RPG characteristic allows you to strategize, whereas the HOG part of it caters to the "detective" in me who likes to find things! :-)
I installed it the last time this game was given, but I haven't been able to progress much.

I remember this one from the last time it was given away. It was much too not like a HOG for my taste. Any game which has a "shop" and where you need to collect "money" to "buy" items is a big turn-off for me. Also, just trying to figure out how the heck this game is intended to work was just a hugely annoying and frustrating experience which I don't plan to repeat.
With so many "it's not like other HOGs!" 'features,' I recall giving up on this after three or four miserable sessions attempting to "get somewhere." Perhaps people who like resource management/building games (I loathe those with a passion) might get on better with this game than I did: I feel this game is an attempt to include aspects of that genre in a HOG. But for me, Dark Asylum is just too UNlike a HOG to get any kind of enjoyment from playing it. Hopefuly, YMMV and you will enjoy it more than I did!

Cad Delworth, I gave up on this game also. I found it so frustrating and difficult also. Then there was a timer. So I un-installed it. I had forgotten about this totally useless and frustrating game.

Robert, Oh yes, I forgot there was a TIMER as well (another pet hate of mine in HOGs!): thanks for pointing that out!
I think overall, this was a potentially good idea for a new hybrid type of HOG/resource management game, but sadly was not implemented very well in terms of game mechanics, leaving both you and I bewildered and/or unable to complete the task in time.
But as I said before, hopefully others may find something to enjoy here, and I admit the graphics are well-done: it's just the actual gameplay that doesn't work (for me, anyway).

I gave it up too after some time cause I didn't find my way through it.
