Gee whiz ... this game is seeing a lot of action:

http://www.myplaycity.com/online_games/online_roulette_passion.html

(but please do not try to download from MyPlayCity .. they are notorious for games bundled with evil malware ... better to stick with the good folks at Giveaway of the Day .. no malware here!)

#38 . . . I don't know how you can call this "definitly (sic) ok". It's horrid.

#31 . . . you made my day.

El Fabuloso . . . loved it.

Please, please, please, GGOTD, I don't even think you read these since everyone else's pleas have gone ignored, but please, please, please, give us something besides this tripe.

Honestly, I am leaving this just to say "Thank you Swan". The uninstaller is great. Now I don't feel so bad about this being a DoubleGames day. So,I have to say another THANK YOU Swan for showing me a valuable download to make up for this!

Please do not misunderstand me. The "spectacle of a boll circling" leaves me so short of breath that I am barely able to stand on my chair and hurl my hat skyward. Risk, hazard and passion are a way of life to me. Yet, somehow, this game leaves me cold. The amateurish execution that seems to be a hallmark of this developer is less noticeble in this offering thanks to the "music" which, like the cry of a hungry shrike perched on one's shoulder, dulls the senses to yet another assault launched by DoubleGames.

The shortcomings of this company have been well-documented by earlier posters. And not just today, but every day that DoubleGames tries to slip one of their amusements onto this site. So I will not try your patience by repeating what you have heard many times. But do not blame GOTD, as they are limited as to what they can offer. I'm quite sure that the seemingly endless supply of substandard pap from DoubleGames is not meant to be some cruel test of loyalty on the part of the good people who operate this worthy site.

However, please allow me to add my voice to the chorus of those who will no longer even try a game offered by this outfit. I am not overstating my lack of confidence in this particular developer when I tell you that I would not download a bucket of water from DoubleGames if my pants were on fire.

I remain,

El Fabuloso

Only a couple of people (and I have no logical explanation as to why) enjoy DoubleGames' offerings. The rest of us hate them. GAOTD, STOP OFFERING US DOUBLEGAMES, WE DO NOT WANT THEM. The fact that you choose to ignore our comments is really unsettling. Can this terrible developer once and for all.

@ 26 -
I believe one of MSN's oldest and largest groups has already pulled its links to this site because of DoubleGames penchant for evocative imagery. Representatives from the MSN group sought possible solutions, not wanting to oust the popular GGAotD team from their family-friendly sites, but a relatively short discussion with forum moderators left them feeling ridiculed for their standards.

As for Double Games:

I assessed Double Games' performance by such quantifiable measures as core skills, innovation, strategy and quality; to wit:

1. their over-reliance a single methodology (i.e. cloning the work of others) is counter-productive, sacrificing quality for quantity;

2. their marketing approach is juvenile (relying on shock value and titillation instead of quality and performance);

3. their core skills are undeveloped (as evidenced by consistently sub-standard graphics and playability);

4. their strategic plan seems to lack coherent form and originality; integrity and ethics are often questioned.

In other words, this company is not yet ready to play on a professional field.

Hey Swan!
Just wanted to thank you for your tip about ZSoft Uninstaller - it works beautifully, can remove or fix corrupt install entries, and loads much faster than the Add-Remove Programs window! :-)
Oh, about the game... well, I can't add anything more to your review, really... :-(

Good morning everyone! ;)

The game downloaded, activated and installed easily enough on Windows XP Pro.

Regretfully, I have to agree with most people here today - the game is awful. The first thing I noticed when I spun the wheel is that the physics are all wrong - the ball spins faster than the wheel does! (laughs)

The graphics are fine with a min., window - however when you max., the window the graphics become grainy - and as fussy as I am about graphics, this was enough on its own to be critical, without the physics issue.

If you plan on keeping the game, the options are all available during play - but even they are minimal: music toggles on/off - max/min window and a couple of other ordinary options.

Parents will be happy to know that there are NO NUDE backgrounds! ;)

The instructions screen is very easy to understand, explaining the different kinds of bets - at least they were faithful to rules of the game and real casino betting sequences, (I've played a few scant times in casinos.)

The only online casino games that I enjoy playing from time to time are Blackjack and Pai Gow Poker and I play those at an online gaming site or play on my Sierra's
Hoyle Games
(no real money involved,) this way at least you have the fun of playing against others as well and the quality of the games leaves this for dead.

Curiously, I couldn't even find this game on the Double Games website any longer. One has to wonder if we're just getting the dregs before they discontinue the games.

As for the price of the game - at $10 for poor performance and graphics, it's overpriced - just look at how many of us wouldn't even keep it for free!

Thanks anyway Double Games, but it does seem like you're using these games as a 'hook' to lure potential customers to your website where you have other far more superior games for sale. If that's so, your logic is faulty.

Unfortunately, your reputation now precedes you, because the hundreds of people that come here will warn friends and family away from your website (if they haven't already,) because of your history of lousy game offers shown to us here.

This game gets:

1 for easy intallation/activation/install
-1 for playability (terrible physics.)
0 for graphics
Total = 0 and a double thumbs down.

#12 Joe:

THEY DON’T REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR COMPUTER WHEN YOU UNINSTALL!!!

Many software houses employ this tactic, not just Double Games - which is why I looked around for a smarter, more intuitive uninstaller some time ago. I found ZSoft
Uninstaller
and it's brilliant - really. Sometimes I check just after an uninstall to make sure it's uninstalled everything, and it's never failed to remove extra components and folders. I highly recommend it to anyone! Here's part of a blurb on their website:

ZSoft Uninstaller is capable of finding programs that most likely already is uninstalled, but still remains in you registry and allows you to remove the reference. This results in a cleaner registry.

Thanks also to GOTD, though I'm not sure why they really kept on with Double Games, unless there was some kind of contract in place between them.

Regardless ... Uninstalled.
~ Swan

OK - first, to address anyone who would say, "Stop the whining because it's free, just be grateful." Let me point out, as has been done before, that the comment section is for criticism so as company's and GGOTD can here how people feel in regards to the program. People should be respectful and mature, but it is ok to be critical.

That being said, I'm confused as to why DoubleGames are still being offered here. Though they do get some positive votes, they predominantly get negative ones. People complain of the inappropriate content within their games, the quality of the games, the lack of originality, and in some cases the apparent outright copying of other company's games. DoubleGames obviously has a bad reputation on this site now. If GGOTD is about giving " the best commercial" games away, at what point does continually offering DoubleGames stuff start marring GGOTD's reputation?

I love this site, am thankful for this site and all of the work that goes into it, and I recommend this site to others. As a person who feels as such...my personal opinion is that DoubleGames need to not be offered anymore.

And if they need to continue to be offered...at least tell us how many more games they have in their offerings so that we can know when this dark cloud will pass. :o)

Thanks.

hmmmm looks like im not downloading this one.

thanks for your comments,it help made my decision (that and the fact that its by doublegames...)

some suggestions:
If you even bother to read this...
anyway here it goes, first off, offer some unlockables,no naked cartoon lady,if I want smut then Ill get it on the internet.
And maybe add a unique twist to your game to.

for instance, adding powerups to roullette would be fairly new.

and then make use of the lightings plug in in photoshop.
Add in bump maps and enviorment maps to make your graphics much better.

make sure when you save something as a j-peg you set the image to full quality.
and again, before spiting out these games, try actualy htinking,"would I actualy buy this???"
and let that set your price decision.
and always remember your target audience, casual games usualy target women 40-60,kids,and men around 50.
always shape the game to there needs. so you did something wrong with your last game put on here, you added nudity, something unnecasary and two thirds of the users here were offended by it.
and make sure in a game like this that the "physics" (wich is more or less just probability measures) are acurate, get a real roulette table and compare if you have to.

any way, thanks as usual gagotd.

If double games actualy followed any of the rules in game desighn then I might be interested to see what they came up with.

I've always liked this so I'm gonna give this a try, but a suggestion to DoubleGames: Please stop adding 2 shortcuts to websites and adding those 2 websites to the favourites/bookmarks. It's annoying finding those things every time I've installed a new game from DoubleGames

After reading #17's comment, I decided to check out the Double Games site. Many of the games on there are actually products of other companies. The Agatha Christie game is by Oberon Media, and the San Francisco game is by Jolly Bear Games. The problem may be with those games that are by Double Games.

In the top, right side of the playing screen are some symbols. A speaker, music note, question mark.... click on the music note to turn off the music.

Far too boring to hold my attention. Even though I won on my first roll, I left after the second roll. Not interested. Then again, I'm not a gambler, either.

Another poorly coded and dysfunctional DoubleGames offering. Thanks for trying, but no thanks. I already removed it and agree with Joe that it is not a flawless uninstall unless you remove files manually too.

#12 Is totally spot on - uninstalling does NOT uninstall everything, the DoubleGames advertising and a few other of their files is still left on your computer and in your registry, only the game itself is removed. Sneaky and wrong.

The graphics on this roulette game are as bad as Elite Freecell and Elite Solitaire, the only bonus I suppose being that the "circling boll" is not a cartoon body part.

This can't be serious you have to pay in real life for this program!? The ball lays sometimes between two numbers, and you can't put off the horrible music. But I like the idea of another form of game. Who likes roulette can play it with this program. So in a scale from 0-10 I give the program 5 points.

By the way, a warning for all of you that have downloaded Doublegames offerings and uninstalled them.

THEY DON'T REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR COMPUTER WHEN YOU UNINSTALL!!!

You have to go into your program files and manually delete the folder that contained the game. There are still files in there as well.

From the blurb :
"The roulette fascinates the player at the spectacle of a boll circling."

That describes the target audience rather accurately.
For most people though that will sound even less entertaining as watching grass grow.

Once again, overpriced and originally released a couple of years ago (in 2004). Or in other words, using old and worthless software as an advertising aid so as to get the punters to buy some stuff from their more recent collection. Nice plan but badly thought out because if this is the quality they are comfortable to offer here...one shudders to think what other lemons they are selling.
