City Sights: Hello Seattle!
In Brief
A challenging Hidden Object game with mini games.
001

002
Installation:
City Sights: Hello Seattle! downloads to a 83.4 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set-up file and a read me). To install City Sights: Hello Seattle! click on the orange key file labelled set up and not the setup.gcd file. Those with multiple hard drives can save games on any drive they wish, just change the default installation path. The newly installed game is MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\City Sights - Hello Seattle!
Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop, three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the ''additional tasks'' window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

Introduction:
In City Sights: Hello Seattle! you will explore the city and visit all its famous places of interest – challenging missions await you! At each level you’ll get a list with items to find with 3 levels of difficulty. The harder the list – the more points you’ll get. Cope with all the levels in the breathtaking game City Sights: Hello Seattle! and collect several trophies for each level of difficulty!
The Game:
Glad to have you on staff here at City Sights Magazine, kid, you do us proud! You’re a great reporter, you know why? Because you’ve a keen eye for detail. You walk into a room and right away see everything there is to see – nothing gets past you. Your next assignment: Seattle! Now, get out there and show us the sights!
In the new hidden object game City Sights: Hello, Seattle!, you’ll tour around the Emerald City, visiting various famous locations and scouring them for items of interest. Each location is beautifully rendered, bright, colorful and even fairly faithful to their real-world counterparts; you definitely won’t mind staring at them as you hunt for the items on your list. And oh, what a list it is.
005

006
For most spots, your list is divided into three categories: Easy, Medium, and Hard. The harder the item is to find, the more points you get for spotting it. The difficulty rating is a bit dubious, though. I usually had much tougher time finding the Medium items than the Hard ones, and some supposedly Easy ones were real stumpers.
Track down everything before time runs out, and it’s on to the next location. Though you’ll start off only having to find a handful of items to find in each location, soon you’ll have dozens of objects on your list. Some items can be tricky – "cone" might be an ice cream cone, a traffic cone, or a pine cone – but you can use as many rechargeable hints as you like to get through the level.
You might not want to, though. Hello, Seattle! has a rather ingenious set of trophies that you can earn in every level that provide an extra layer of challenge. At least three remain constant: Don’t use any hints, don’t suffer any penalties for incorrect clicks, and finish in under five minutes. Finishing levels with those three achievements gradually levels up three large trophies, but there are plenty of individual awards to win, too. You might have to find 10 particular items – cats, apples, birds – in a particular scene, or you may have to find items in the specific order they appear on the list. You might have to find all of the Hard items first, or earn 10,000 points.
007

008
If you blow a particular achievement, you can replay the level and try again. You’ll have a different list of objects to find, but just about everything is in the same place, so you’ll have a distinct advantage when you play for the second time.
Trying to earn all of the achievements in a given area is an incredibly addictive way to play the game, but even if you can’t quite finish in five minutes or you have to use a hint, don’t worry – you’ll still have plenty of gold in your trophy case. You win one award simply for clicking on the screen fifteen times, and another for moving your cursor "3 feet" on the screen. The achievements are, for the most part, completely optional, so feel free to ignore them if you’d rather play completely stress-free.
Sprinkled among the hidden object levels are a few spot-the-difference sections, which are just as polished, though not always as challenging. There’s no Easy-Medium-Hard breakdown for these levels, but the same trophy standards (no hints, finish fast, etc.) apply.

Conclusion:
Hello, Seattle! may seem like it’s a short game, but that’s only because you’ll probably find it so hard to stop playing it. It’s a wonderful take on the genre, and an enjoyable tour of a beautiful city, too. The achievements add an extra level of challenge for pros who want to test their hidden object might, but all hidden object game fans will enjoy this one.

Having problems installing today's game?
If you have a problem installing or activating or getting City Sights: Hello Seattle! to work please visit the problems section, which you can find in the FAQ's thread HERE. Also read through the community’s comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted. The main issue we have is with the giveaway wrapper, which uses a Themida based code to protect the games executable. Unfortunately, Themida is also used to hide malware; so, as a precaution, some security software may block the installation and sometimes even delete the executable file. Blocking or deletion is usually determined partly by the way your computer is set up. Usually you'll get a message saying ''the file is corrupted'', but, the files are okay. There are a couple of things you can do to overcome this issue. The first is to reboot in safe mode with networking, install the game then reboot, or secondly you can (at your own risk) temporarily turn off your security, install the game, then turn your security back on. A note of reassurance to those that choose the latter and quicker method. The game giveaway team have been giving away games for over a decade (Dec 2006 & prior to that, via the main site 2 or 3 times weekly from Oct 2006 to Dec 2006) and have 'NEVER' given away a game infected with malware; they always test every giveaway with several of the top anti-malware suites to ensure all games are free from malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, if you have a problem getting the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve or if you have a game to offer the community you can do so HERE

Hi White Rabbit - Hope days are improving for you and family.
Thanks to you and Play City for this fun game. I had never seen this game on the site I mainly buy from so it was a surprise. I, too, was put off at first by the timer. There was nothing to fear because even if you couldn't find all items in time allowed you could continue to play. No trophy was small price to pay for that feature.

Objects are small and well hidden so that tires eyes rather quickly. Thanks again all the best to you

Very easy install, auto registered. So far I like the game a lot, but I've only played for a few minutes; no time right now.. Lovely graphics. I love this kind of game! Thanks so much, GAOTD and MyPlayCity!

I had to give this game a thumbs down. Like others have commented, there is no relaxed mode, and it's not fun for me to play HOGs against a timer. I probably wouldn't keep this one anyway, as many of the objects to be found are so small and merged into the background as to be invisible. There have been some that I could barely see even after the hint button revealed their location.

So, not a keeper for me. Still, thanks to GGOTD, MPC, and Whiterabbit.

Downloaded and installed without issue on a Win10 Home x 64 system.

Having one bad eye, I have "Magnifier" always open about 1.5 inches high across the top of my screen. With the game in full screen mode, that can interfere with gameplay so I usually must play in windowed mode. Many games allow the window to be resized so I can drag it to fit the entire screen under the magnifier. This game, sadly, does not allow that. Because this game has borders on the sides in full screen mode, I tried putting magnifier on the side but, oddly, the game moves it over the play area. I got through the first "Seattle Center" challenge in windowed mode with time to spare. (the 10 minute limit is generous, I did it in 6-something) I then went to "Pike Place Mkt" and it was just too difficult to see so I gave up.

Of course, those issues are unique to me so what can I say? The graphics and gameplay seem good so I would recommend anyone into HOGs give it a try. If I have one suggestion for improvement, it would be to make the windowed mode window resizable.

Thanks MPC and GGOTD. And thank you Whiterabbit-uk, I hope all is well with you and yours!

jboy,

Depending on your hardware [PC or laptop] you might find it worthwhile to check out VMs [Virtual Machines]. VirtualBox is free, & IMHO the easiest -- some versions of win10 come with Microsoft's Hyper-V. Either provides hardware emulation -- hardware faked by software -- allowing you to run a copy of Windows in a window that can be sized however you like. For the copy of Windows that will run in your VM, Microsoft provides free copies already set up as VMs, but you'll have to switch to a new one every 3 months I think. Or win10 runs fine without activation. Or you can buy a win10 key at SCDKey for less than $20.

The biggest catches are that since the graphics hardware is emulated, some, mostly higher end games won't run well, and 2nd, since your CPU & RAM are going to be running 2 copies of Windows at once, VMs don't work that well on very low powered hardware, e.g. I wouldn't dream of trying it on my miniPC running an Intel Celeron.

mike,
Thank you! I appreciate the reply and that information. Since I have quite a few other HOGs that accommodate me using the magnifier still waiting to be played, it's not a dire need. That VirtualBox does sound interesting though, I will check it out. Could be a good thing to have on hand should the need arrive. Thanks again!

There being no 'relaxed' mode available makes this one a 'no thanks' for me.

The linked web-site says the game is "always free" due to their sponsors. Is this version different in some way (e.g. less advertising)?

...........................Moderator comment.........................
The game isn't free in the sense of freeware as it is still a commercial title, being sold via several game distributors. sites like MyPlayCity pay the developer a cut of the money they earn whenever you play the game because of the browser redirections that occur every time you close the game down. there are ways to stop the browser redirection, but doing so breaks the agreement you make by downloading and installing the game and would technically be stealing. If you allow your browser to be redirected every time you close the game down, MyPlayCity earns a small amount of cash, which as I said is shared with whoever owns the game. This is a good way for the developer, the distributor and the person playing the game to either make or save money. Only the advertisers pay. The giveaway version has had some of the advertising and toolbars removed, so is a better version to install than the one you can download from MyPlayCity.

Looks interesting, but it looks like the timer can't be switched off (i.e. no "relaxed" mode), so that's going to be a pain; I hate HOGs with timers!
Also, I'm over 12, so "trophies" are redundant fluff for me.
That said, others have claimed this is an addictive, fun game; so I'm giving it a try and may report back later if I have time. :)
