The Game:
This game is pure gold. It is really awesome, one of the most fun shooters I have ever played. But let's see the details. Cemetery Warrior V is essentially a wave-based arena shooter. So what? What makes it so special? Well, it features a lot of interesting mechanics which make it much more dynamic and enjoyable than the vast majority of indie arena shooters we can find nowadays. In particular, in this game we can find several interesting aspects that make this a worthy title.
1) ... Constantly changing arenas: as you beat an enemy wave, you are forced to move to the next arena, which may be entirely different from the previous, and thus may require an entirely different strategy; each time you approach a new arena, you have to thoroughly study the environment, and thus decide wisely which weapon to use and which movement strategy to adopt; this is the feature of the game that I liked the most, because it introduces an incredible variety of gameplay situations, and stimulates the fantasy and the adaptability of the player
Cemetery-Warrior-V-013

Cemetery-Warrior-V-014

Cemetery-Warrior-V-015
2) ... An interesting level-up system: as you keep slaying your enemies, you will be rewarded with points you can spend to acquire new passive perks or even new active skills, which can dramatically increase your chance of survival; active skills can be seen as "spells" you can use to crush your enemies in one hit, to stun them for a second, or even to dash in any direction, thus dodging incoming attacks or escaping from a hopeless situation; in particular, the dodge skill is extremely useful and fun to use, it makes the fights extremely dynamic and full of adrenaline, but of course requires feline reflexes and a good memory, because you have to remember the exact timing for efficiently dodge each different attack; pure ecstasy!

3) ... A good variety of weapons: so far I only unlocked three weapons (and I probably won't see the rest, unfortunately), but I have already seen that they are very different from each other, and each one of them is particularly useful in certain situations; so you won't end up using only one OP weapon, you will be forced to switch between them to adapt to each situation and to each enemy; also, the weapon aesthetics are VERY cool
4) ... A good variety of enemies: the enemies I have seen so far are really cool and badass, each one of them has its own abilities, and requires a particular strategy to be defeated; I have seen only one boss, but... I fell in love with it! The first boss is very cool aesthetically, and above all is well balanced, which is not trivial at all

Cemetery-Warrior-V-016

Cemetery-Warrior-V-017

Cemetery-Warrior-V-018
5) ... An appropriate and adrenaline fuelled music
6) ... An old school hint system, which means... almost no hints at all! The game tells you almost nothing, you have to figure out its mechanics all by yourself, and it is not particularly easy, because there are a lot of different collectibles, each with its own use, and at the beginning it will be very hard to understand how to manage them
7) ... Responsive controls, high movement speed and satisfactory feedback from the weapons.

Of course, like every other good title, this game also has some minor flaws:
- when you are hit there is not enough visual or audio feedback
- some melee enemies can hit you wi-fi (moderately)
- there are no health or armour pickups like in traditional shooters
- a brief introduction or initial cutscene would have been beneficial.

So, overall, I STRONGLY recommend this game to all lovers of fast-paced badass shooters which require a lot of skill and experience and good reflexes. I'd like to see more games like this, but unfortunately current trends point elsewhere.

If you happen to experience the same frame rate issues at the start of the second level, right after defeating the first boss please comment here. The reviewer wanted to ascertain whether it's a problem with their PC or if it's a global issue that the dev's should be informed about. Personally I didn't get the frame rate issues (with 12GB of gRAM, it would be unlikely unless their was an issue with the game). Thanks in advance!

Edit: The reviewer initially had some issues with frame rates when moving to the second level.
I finally managed to continue with level 2, it turned out that reloading the game later helps fixing the frame rate problem. This is good because now I can try to finish the game, but also bad because... I found other flaws, major this time:
i) ... the melee enemies hitting you wi-fi are becoming seriously annoying
ii) .. some enemies can damage you on contact, which is ALWAYS a bad and lazy design choice in my opinion
Cemetery-Warrior-V-021b

Cemetery-Warrior-V-022

Cemetery-Warrior-V-023
iii) .. some arenas are really badly designed; I'll give you an example, that is, the arena in which I am currently stuck (and for good reasons!): it is a relatively small and narrow arena, BUT, it is completely full of enemies, there are so many monsters that they fill virtually every single square centimetre of floor (literally), you cannot even move without being hit, even if you dash; I don't know if that room is truly beatable, I'll keep trying, but I'm not very optimistic

In general, the difficulty spike from level 1 to level 2 is too steep in my opinion, it should be balanced a bit. However, I'm happy that I solved my frame rate problem, I'll certainly keep playing this game every now and then.

Conclusion:
If you enjoy games like Painkiller, Blood, Rise of the Triad, Acheron, or the early Wolfenstein, Quake and Doom games or other early first person shooters, this is definitely an improvement on previous Cemetery Warrior titles and worth downloading.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Free or Discounted Games:
Please check Delenn's threads over in the giveaway forums HERE (non-Steam games) and HERE (Steam games) for the latest freebies. It's kept up to date frequently, (thanks for keeping this up to date Delenn, very much appreciated).

Steam Games:
Black Desert a massive multiplayer online RPG with an online coop mode plus one DLC pack is presently free on Steam HERE until April 13th. You can see lots of images over in the Game Discussion forums HERE as well as several videos of game play in the Steam Store HERE. (Thanks for the heads up Mike); already had this in my account :).

For the latest Steam sales check THIS Steam database site out. You can list the games in 'price' & 'percentage off' order by clicking the headers. If you link SteamDB (the Steam database) with your Steam account, all games that you already have will be highlighted in green and those in blue are on your wish list. When there are Steam games being given away, you'll see the percentage off as 100%. It's worth checking this regularly to make sure you don't miss the best deals and freebies. There is an early access game presently free on Steam called KEO (usually £9.99).

Delenn usually posts links to all free games within several hours of them going live, so check her links in the first paragraph above.

If you have a Steam account and like to collect soon to be removed games, all five that were listed here; i.e. Far Sky, The free Ones, Sky Break, Knockout Checkers Chamber and Gods Remastered have now been removed from Steam. I don't know of any other outlet that sells any of these games, but, if you still wanted any of them, you may be able to find keys on the various sites that sell Steam key, but there's no guarantee that any will be available. If you've purchased any game that is later removed from the Steam store, you will still always be able to download and play it via your Steam library despite it no longer being available via Steam; that is unless its one of those Massive Multiplayer Online games where the only access is via the developers servers and no single player elements. Once the developers no longer support the game and close the servers down you can no longer access the game. (e.g. Defiance, Guardians of Ember, plus loads more).
Indie Gala:
Don't forget to check Indie Gala's freebie section HERE, then click on the Showcase header, selecting freebies from the drop down menu; the most recent additions include:
1) ... Vroom Racing (Drive a Formula 1 car upon 18 worldwide tracks : Reach 380 Km/h and beat the ghost !)

2) ... Project Restart (An anime visual novel, two versions English & Portuguese)

3) ... Super Toy cars (ReRUN ... a tabletop arcade combat racing game)
Check the freebie section for the latest additions; if you've not visited for a while, also check the Showcase section for older freebies. All or most new freebies should be on the first page of the Showcase pages. We have been given over 340 games since I started to check the freebie section in 2018. But around 60% of those are no longer available free. The following recent freebies have now been removed from the free library: Cursed Sight, Pixel Puzzles 2, Spring Bonus, Little Kite, Last Dream, Unhack, Trainpunk Run, Pixel Puzzles 2: Paintings, Hamsterdam, Copperbell, Chainsaw Warrior, Leisure Suit Larry 2 Looking For Love (In Several Wrong Places), Leisure Suit Larry 1 - In the Land of the Lounge Lizards , Figment, Pixel Puzzles 2: Space, Revolution Ace, Six Sides of the World, Byte Family, Alone on Mars, Garfield Kart, Nostradamus the Last Prophecy, Snowball, Pixel Puzzles 2: Christmas , Die Young (Full version), Distortions, Dino Run DX, Cheap Golf, Kill Em All, Dead Hungry Diner, and Contract with the Devil.

Any game you claim while it's being offered is DRM free and will remain in your Indie Gala library permanently (unless Indie Gala goes bust) and can be downloaded at any time, under the showcase or freebie section; 115 games are still available. Not all games that go into the showcase remain free and are removed after a short period; e.g. the recent adventure puzzler Figment that costs almost £15 on Steam; so, you should grab them as quickly as you can. To find your games go to your account and from the drop down menu select 'My Library'. When the page opens find the 'Showcase' button in the banner along the top of the page and, from the drop down menu select 'Showcase'. There are only 8 games per page, so, if like me you have added hundreds to your account/library. Each page from your free list can take 30 or more seconds to move to the next page so it can take a good twenty minutes to get to the last page depending on how many of the free games you've claimed.
CD Keys:
Another decent site that you should check out regularly is CD Key HERE. They have some very good discounts on top notch AAA games for all the popular platforms (PC, PSN, Xbox, Nintendo), sometimes as much as 99% off. for example Madden NFL 22 is only £0.39 (usually £49.99), Grand Theft Auto V Premium Ed' 84% off (£7.99), Sims 4 85% off (£5.99), Star Wars The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition £1.79 , Dying Light Platinum Edition 92% off (£5.29 - includes 22 of the paid for 26 DLC's, with a further 11 free DLC's available.), Assetto Corsa 83% off (£3.99), Borderlands 2 GOTY Edition 91% off (£2.99), Civilization VI Platinum Edition 91% off (£8.99), Cities Skyline 90% off (£3.09), Hitman GOTY Ed' 92% off (£3.99), Sniper Elite 4 83% off (£6.99), Stellaris 99% off (£0.19), The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series 86% off (£5.49), Battlefield V 85% off (£7.39), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 89% off (£0.79), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II : The Sith Lords 89% off (£0.79), Planet Coaster 83% off (£4.99), Injustice 2 92% off (£3.99), Kerbal Space Program 85% off (£4.49) this is included in the Stand with Ukraine bundle, Fallout 3 GOTY Ed' 80% off (£2.99), Fallout 4 91% off (£3.49), Tekken 7 90% off (£3.99), Garfield Kart: Furious Racing 92% off (£1.09), Dawn of War Franchise Pack 97% off (£3.19 usually £99), Assassins Creed: Unity 91% off (£3.49), Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Striker 95% off (£1.99), Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition 86% off (£9.99), Outlast 2 90% off (£2.39), The Escapists 2 85% off (£2.99), Battlefield 1 Revolution 87% off (£7.99), Sniper 2: Ghost Warrior 2 89% off (£0.79), Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Season Pass Edition 96% off (£1.49), Elite Dangerous 84% off (£3.99), Killing Floor 2 89% off (£2.29), Lego: The Incredibles 93% off (£2.49), Lego: DC Super Villains 93% off (£2.49), Resident Evil Biohazard 90% off (£4.99), Resident Evil HD Remaster 87% off (£3.19), Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 91% off (£4.99), The Evil Within 92% (£2.49), Metro Exodus Gold Edition 83% off (£9.99), Shadow warrior 2 90% off (£3.59), Warhammer 40 000 Space Marine - Anniversary Ed' 93% off (£2.99) plus many more amazing deals.

Be sure to check that keys from CD Keys are redeemable in whichever country you live in (it details where it can be redeemed) as prices and the ability to redeem keys in particular countries may differ. I've quoted prices from the UK pages of CD keys. I recently got an Origin key for Star Wars: Squadrons for 99% off, costing me £0.34; it usually retails for £34.99, I also got 32% off a pre order copy of Dying Light 2 a couple of weeks before it was released in February, saving around £20 off the release price.
Epic Games:

The latest Epic games include Rogue Legacy - A genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero. Each time you die, your unique child will succeed you. One child might be colour-blind, another might be a dwarf with vertigo. But that's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be to succeed and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - a first-person mystery focused on exploration and discovery. As an occult-minded detective Paul Prospero, piece together the truth behind Ethan’s disappearance — and the fate of his family.

Next week (14th April at 4pm UK/11am Eastern) we will be getting Insurmountable - an adventure roguelike with permadeath, in which the player has to overcome huge mountains. Thanks to the procedurally created environment, no two climbs are the same. Make sure that your climber stays alive by always making sure that your vital values don't get into the critical range. and the excellent X-Com 2 - the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year
Indie Bundles:
The best Indie Bundles sites that have been operating from around 2010 are the Humble Bundle and Indie Gala sites (though the latter isn't as good as it used to be, with most of the bundles containing cheap stocking fillers and a lot of 'adult only 'hentai like ' games). The Humble site is, in my opinion, the best; though a more recent addition that is worth checking out called Fanatical games, that used to be called Bundle Stars, looks to be a serious contender for that title as they have some very good bundles. Presently Fanatical hosts fifteen bundles; some of them are ending over the next few days.

Build your own Slayer Bundle 5
Build your own Anime Bundle 4

Subscriptions to the Choice bundle have recently been changed, levelling the ground for all subscribers. The monthly cost is a meagre $12/£8.99 with other benefits such as access to a lot of indie titles for free while subscribed and a percentage off other purchases from the Humble store. This discount increases the longer you stay subscribed up to a year with 20% off all none bundle purchases. Free Game Project:
I've restarted a project I originally started back in 2008 that used to be called Good Games to Grab, where I posted free games over in the forums on a daily basis; however, I won't be posting them daily this time, only as and when I have time and the inclination. You can find the new forum section entitled 'Free Game Project' HERE. So far, I've posted eight excellent PC games, plus one android game as well as suggested or linked to others similar to the ones posted. I'll be adding more as and when I have the time or the mood takes me over the coming months.

Amazon Prime Gaming:
If you have Amazon Prime you also get access to a new set of free games every month. The April freebies include the fantastic The Elder Scrolls Oblivion from GOG (You can find loads of mods, addons and other related files over on Nexus mods HERE. ModDB also have many files available for the game (over thirty thousand) HERE (files), HERE (add-ons) and HERE (mods).).

From Origin you get the 3D version of Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neigbourville (I'm really pleased to see this one; I was intending to buy it in the next Steam sale as it's been on my wish list since it's release) . Plus there are several other games from Plug in Digital and Lucas Arts free this month.

On top of those full game freebies there's also a shed load of add-ons and other DLC content for various Free to Play and commercial titles such as GTA V, Overwatch, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Two Point Hospital, The Crew 2, Fall Guys, Blade & Soul, FIFA 22, Madden NFL 22 (the full game was free on Origin last month via Amazon Gaming, now you get some extra stuff to add to the game). Also extra's for Battlefield 2042, Splitgate, Gildwars 2, Black Desert Mobile, Warframe, Doom Eternal and over 20 other titles.
Other Free or Discounted Games:
Black And White Apocalypse that was given away mid January (HERE) by the developer Hammergames is always free via Itch.io and can also be downloaded as a colour version. You can find both versions via the following links Black & White version, and Coloured version. :) Hammergames also offer other games they have created free HERE. Some of them look like they are worth investigating. :)

Stay safe everyone.
