Caveman Rudi was available as a giveaway on May 16, 2015!
Great Jump&Run game for "in between"! The player is incarnated as Rudi and starts his funny mission of searching for fire. On his way he encounters many enemies and experiences lots of unexpected situations. Big Feet, glaze ice, carnivorous plants are only a few obstacles he will have to overcome. The aim of the game is find fire. The game is created in such a way that could allow children to use it intuitively and unaided needing no support of adults. But also adults will enjoy playing a round or two with Rudy.

How do I do to throw a stone?
I can't reach the last crystal to go to level 2.

How old are you?
I'm 47 and finished game in 20 minutes, too. I remember ZX Spectrum, Atari and Commodore platformers, that were a real challenge.

Cute game. I've only played a few minutes, but it seems fun. (I like games like Turtle Odyssey, Super Cow, etc, which they don't seem to make any more). I have win 7 64, and I had to go to xp compatibility for the "boss level". where, oddly. the shooting could be done with my mouse. Thanks for a nice Saturday game!

Hey there...didn't dl today's game as I suck at keyboard controls...wish it had the option of using the mouse as it looks like a cute little game.
As for the TooMky site: I used to get games from there but had to stop. Some time last year I started getting warnings from my virus software...went today to check if the problem had been solved and got this message from my web shield:
Avast Web Shield has blocked a harmful webpage or file.
Object: http://cdn.toomkygamesdownload....
Infection: Win32:Malware-gen
Process: C:\...Icedragon.exe
So I wouldn't recommend using the site. Since it has been a year and this still hasn't been fixed, not sure I will even check again....shame too as there are some new games on there I would like to try.

Wow. Was some fun but a very short game compared to turtix or other games. Finished the game in about 20 minutes.

Hi Whiterabbit-uk and everybody.
I'm using Win8.1 x64 updated, I have enabled DEP (Always on), I enlarged Windows characters (DPI - Larger 150%).
When I start the game, I get these errors:
Anyway the game works (but not full screen, by default... I didn't try to put it full).
I disabled DEP (i.e., added the game to DEP exceptions) and the game works correctly.
I finished the game after half hour, like iowasongbird.
Hence those are two problems; my suggestions/advices to improve the game:
1) it should work with DEP enabled
2) it should last longer
3) add more levels
4) add an HARD mode (more damages when rudi is hit, life lost when Rudi falls into the fire/ravine/void)
5) add the possibility to remove the suggestions/advices when a level starts
6) add more audio tracks, or change audio tracks between levels
Best regards!

This is a very simple and relatively short game with 15 levels. The animation is delightful and I found the use of buttons easy to learn. There was one bonus level which was confusing because you ended up using the mouse - a few brief instructions would be helpful there. Most of the game required intuition as the instructions are limited. But the game is easy enough to figure out. I'll keep it installed as I often need a "no-brainer" type of game to relax with. Thanks for the free game access.

The controls for a running/jumping game should be set up for a gamepad, or have the ability to remap them. Unlike the days of DOS gaming. This is the only reason I didn't download or give a thumbs up.

Caveman Rudi uses an old [old - old - old] version of the Macromedia Projector -- it was written or developed in Director, which is still around BTW, with a new release in 2013. It runs in my XP Mode VM, where most games will not, so it has minimal system requirements. It's just so old [I think it would run on win98, maybe 95] that not all [anywhere near] current systems will run it.

There is no cursor because the game is button-driven. Use your arrow keys to move through the choices on the start screen, then hit enter to choose. Start is jumping around because it is selected. Hope this helps!

Cute little game. Installed & played just fine on my Windows XP machine with dual screens. I didn't have the issue that the previous poster did.
Very easy game. Definitely geared more toward kids - there is no penalty for dying, there is ample ammunition, and health points are easily replenished. I was able to complete it in around 30 minutes.
The graphics are good, the controls are responsive and you have the ability to turn off the music if you want.
All in all a cute, short time waster and probably good entertainment for younger kids.
Thank you, GGOTD!

I forgot to mention, I also have a dual screen setup, and I had no such problem as previously mentioned by Mavadelo. It works well, just not my kind of game.

Hum! It's been ages since I've played button controlled games, and I must admit, I have no patience for them anymore. Maybe it's just that I'm mouse addicted. Anyway, from what I've seen, it's colorful, and you just might like this if you like Mario type of games (console you call them). I don't really, so this game does not really suit me today. Thank you anyway, it is different from what we usually get. Thumbs for the effort. Have a great day.

Game won't run correctly on Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit With Media Center & Touch screen monitor. It gets to the Menu, but Start is jumping around on the screen and there isn't a cursor and touch screen doesn't help either. Tried several different compatability settings but none of them worked. I even disabled display scaling on high DPI settings, but that didn't help either.

Where is the program $6,99? not on the site of this publisher/developer. I found it on other sites ranging from €0 to €6. The game can not handle my dual screen setup, bleeps my resolution, tries to display itself half on both screens. consists of an empty window and a borderless flash thingy and has no options menu. I suppose that people with a single screen can have fun with it. It looked simple enough. Jump, duck, hit enemies with a club, collect fruit and gems. A basic platformer. Won't thumb it down but can't thumb it up either.

Caveman Rudi
Installation:
The zip file once downloaded should be 51.9 MB size and when installed to the default path mentioned below is 57 MB in size. Installation is a breeze; the unzipped setup file installs the game to the following path:
C:\Games\CavemanRudi_Game
Once installed you can delete the wrapped setup file (for those that are new to the giveaway project that's the orange colored file with a key symbol on the icon; you can also delete the Setup.gcd security file and the read me document.
There is no desktop icon created during installation so you will have to create your own via the above path or via which ever path you choose for yourself. If you also want a start menu shortcut you will have to go into Documents and Settings which is found in the root directory (C:\).
i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\name\Start Menu\Programs\ (XP) or C:\Users\(User-Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ (Win 7 & 8 and Vista)
Where 'name' equals administrator, or whatever name you use for your account. Just create a new folder within the program folder and add a shortcut from the games executable file. (right click and select create shortcut then copy that to the folder you've just created - you can also use the same shortcut and copy it to the desktop or select send to desktop {create shortcut}).
There is no music folder inside the main game folder, so there's no way of changing the music directly. You can turn off the music via the options menu, then play your own music via a media player if you wish.
Some community members may have problems installing the game due to the Themida based security included with the download. Norton is one AV suite that seems to tag the file as suspicious and tends to delete the file, which will then throw up one of several error messages. If this problem does arise, there are two ways around it (or three if you decide not to install the game):
I’d try for the first option first. If you aren’t sure how to configure the antimalware suite, either read the programs help files or Google how to do it, then and only then as a last resort go for turning your security off temporarily; however, if you do choose that option, you do so at your own risk. (Just to allay any fears that you may get infected installing a game giveaway with no security turned on). The giveaway team have given away well over a thousand games since the inception of the game giveaway project back in Decenber 2006 and no game has ever been infected with malware. The giveaway team check all downloads throughly using several malware suites to ensure the files are clean.
Caveman Rudi should work on all iterations of Windows from Win XP onwards, though I've not personally tested it on XP or Vista.
Introduction:
Reference: accessed HERE 16th May 2015
Apparently you can get Caveman rudi from Toomky Games, but I haven't checked the site out yet. shawndion posted a comment in the Toomky Games thread over in the Game discussion forums, listing a whole load of free arcade games on the lines of MyPlayCity, Gametop etc. As I haven't confirmed whether they are safe to run without picking up extra's, I'd advise caution until I or someone else confirms that the site is safe.
The Game:
Caveman Rudi is an old school platformer with cartoon like graphics. It's very simple to play, but hard to progress unless you have nimble fingers or are a platform afficianado. I couldn't get past level 5 after several attempts so gave up. Level one is a practice level where you pick up stone ammo, food (to repair damage to your character) and crystals.
To progress to the next level you have to collect all of the crystals on that level. you may need to also find keys, or bash your way through to the next level with your club. Game play is fairly simple, with the following keyboard controls:
Left & Right arrows - Go Left & Go Right
Up & down arrows - Climb up & down
Up arrow - Jump
down arrow - Crouch
Ctrl - Use club
Space - Use club
Esc - Back to main menu or pause
As you progress the levels get harder to beat, with debris in the form of falling Stalactites that take away health. Stones that you can either collect when they are falling or from the piles of stones that you may find.
The music can be turned off via the main menu. There doesn't seem to be a way to go to windowed mode, which i find annoying.
System Requirements:
Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8
CPU: 1GHz Processor
Video: Direct X 9
Compatible Graphic Card
SysRAM: 1GB
DirectX: 9.0
Conclusion:
A simple platform game with basic cartoon graphics. Ideal for the whole family.
Score:
Graphic - 6
Gameplay - 6.5
Sound and music - 6
originality - 5
replayability - 6.5
total 30 out of 50 which is equivalent to 6 out of 10
Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting Caveman Rudi to work please go HERE for help. I've posted most of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and the grace period lasts for up to 1 hour.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from. Other sites include Gametop and FreeGamePick. Royal Gems is available from MyPlayCity. (See link in the introduction section above). I've not checked the other free game sites. Todays game isn't available from the regular sites mentioned here, but someone posted in the forums a few weeks ago that it was available from Toomky Games. I've not checked the site yet (not had the time due to exams), so do be cautious if downloading from that site until its been confirmed to be safe.
If you do download any games from MyPlayCity, Gametop or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as these free game sites tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)http://steamcommunity.com/app/263200
For now I won't be recommending you download games from Jenkat Games. They have changed the way you get games from their site. Diane has posted information about this over in the game discussion forums. If I have time or remember, I'll link to it.
Games, Games, and yet more Games plus Download, Installation & Game play Problems:
There are 423 games on sale over on Steam this week, ranging from 10% to 90% off. There's also an Iceberg Interactive and Capcom publishers weekend sales this weekend with up to 80% off publishers prices. You can find a full list of all sale items HERE.
You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites.

GameFly (soon to be sold off)
Free Game Sites:
MyPlayCity (over a 1000 games to choose from)

To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamworks games, many of the above sites also sell steamwork games.
If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. you'll find the indie bundles thread HERE. The thread is outdated, but all of the links will still take you to the latest bundles.
The latest IndieGameStand game is called Unrest:

In Unrest, there are no heroes of legend, there is no mystical quest, and fate has not chosen you.
You're on your own.
PLUS, if you pay over the average, which at the time of writing was $1.43 you will also the adventure game 'The 39 Steps. both games come with Steam keys as well as a drm free download. The deal ends Monday 18th May 15 5am (GMT)

You get Steam keys for all of these games apart from the Desura bundle. Though some of the games in the Desura bundle are on Valves Greenlight project and should get Steam keys if Greenlit. The single game deal ends Midnight tonight (Sat 9th May) and will be replaced with a game called Biology Battle a space-shooter, where you take the role of a medical nanobot and embark on a journey into the depths of a biological cell. Evade the defense tactics of the other cells and try to survive for as long as possible.
