Immers in the world of an amazing library turned into a maze of bookcase.

Actions in this game occur during sleep, but not in the real world. If the dream stops then all the people of this world, created in this dream will die. To save the world you must never wake up the dreamer. You must somehow cancel the dawn.

One of the features of the game is the illusory blocks. They are visible, but not tangible and no longer random. They reflect light ( and do not cast a shadow).

Controls:
Running - left and right arrows
Jump - up arrow

In Brief:
Cancel The Sunrise is a challenging retro 2D arena action platformer.

The aim of the game is to reach the exit once you've collected all the particles. Some parts are blocked by doors that can only be opened by the corresponding coloured keys. Avoid touching the enemies and when jumping over spiked pits making sure you've timed your jump correctly. Other things to avoid are fake floors that will collapse if you walk over them, also avoid lava, fireballs, guillotines, gears and moving conveyor belts that move you in a specific direction.

You can kill enemies by use the gun that you can pick up by walking or jumping over it; however, it has very limited ammunition, so be sparing with its use. Some enemies also use guns.

You can see a video of game play HERE

Controls:
A or Left Arrow = Move left
D or Right Arrow = Move Right
W or Up Arrow = Jump
Space = Shoot
S or Down Arrow = Jump off Elevators

Controllers are not supported this game.
Conclusion:
I quite enjoyed playing this platformer. For someone not really into platform games (i.e. me), I found it mildly entertaining and liked the retro graphic. This is one I'll be keeping and
will be attempting to complete the challenging levels eventually. I would like to know how many levels are included with the game. The main menu includes a 'Select Level' option, but it only shows those levels you have unlocked plus level 1. Apart from the main menu images I've posted, all but the last two are part of the Play (+ Training) levels and are not listed in the 'Select Level' option. Selecting the former takes you though a few training levels before starting at level 1, the latter starts directly from level one missing out the training levels.
Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found zero hits from 63 antimalware engines. You can see the scan results HERE

َAlireza,

Hey, there's no need to apologise. (I wasn't meaning to imply ' hey you've already posted a list, don't be greedy'), it just made it a little more difficult to decide what to give you, bearing in mind some of the games have been requested by others as well. I just want to be as fair as possible and satisfy everyone who requested a game or two.

I'd actually hoped anyone posting on Christmas day would see and consider the other titles before I send out the keys already allocated. I really should have listed them all at the same time, but leading up to Christmas I was so busy, I hadn't worked through all the keys I'd decided to give away.

I still have thousands of unredeemed keys because I used to buy virtually every bundle going from the very first Humble/Indie Royale/Indie Gala /Bundle stars and others. At the time I was intending, with the help of a friend to start a review site and intended to offer Steam games as offerings to anyone who posted reviews of games on the site; one thing after another intervened, and I never got around to sorting things as I was in the middle of a big legal battle at the time. A friend did set up a site and got it ready, but I was too involved with other things at the time to start posting reviews. I then stopped buying most indie bundles back in 2017 apart from the odd Humble Bundle; partly because most of the bundles were starting to be filled with what I considered tripe/non games/asset flips etc.

All of the keys I'm offering are from a couple of Humble Bundles and the massive Ukraine Bundle that was offered late Spring earlier this year that had around 120 Steam games included. I had around 70% of the games included in the bundle already, but as there were a couple of games in the bundle I'd been after buying e.g. Back 4 Blood, I snapped the bundle up as I knew the money was going to a worthwhile cause and ended up with around 80 spare keys, some of which I've already given to various Steam friends.

Please list all of those you chose both from Sunday and today in the order of your preference. The game I've already allocated to you another community member had asked for as well, so if your preferences change, I can allocate that one to them instead.

The game will not install on Windows 11 after extraction. Appreciated but of no use if one can't play it.

OK, based on a streamed walkthrough I found here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElPOtTCV2Fs

I would say it's 30 levels total, though I don't speak Russian, so I can't read the "final message" at the end of the video.

PS: I know the video says "Part 1" but I think that's because the streamer didn't know how many levels existed in the game before starting the stream. (Just my guess!)

PPS: The Russian name of the game (ОТМЕНИТЬ РАССВЕТ) translates literally to "Cancel Dawn" in English.

I was trying to find out how many levels exist in today's game when I discovered that it seems to have been written by axel-k and not winterstellar (?).

https://axel-k.itch.io/cancel-the-sunrise

Perhaps the winterstellar version is the "remastered" one and that's why it costs $5? The one on the axel-k page (above) is also allegedly v1.1.14 but is free?!

Cad Delworth,

Thanks for the heads up on that Cad. We've had games previously that have appeared to be by two different developers. I contacted Itch.io some months ago about one in particular, but have never received a reply despite re emailing them about the game.

Copy or Stealing other peoples work has become a big earner for some so called developers. You just have to see the number of games on Steam that are basically copies of genuine games but with slight changes such as using assets from other games, or in some cases ripping off the demos of various assets from those cheap game engines such as RPG Maker or Game Maker etc.

Often the games have inflated prices, but are on regular 90% off deals to make it look like you are getting an amazing bargain. You can also often spot them on the Steam Database where they initially sell for £0.39/$0.50 for a short time on release, (SteamDB sales always shows the lowest price games have sold for, so when you see the latest price almost ten times as much as the original price despite having a 90% discount tag, it rings alarm bells), then they increase the price to some ridiculous amount then put it on sale for 90% off selling for around £2.99 or £3.99, so their listed price has increased when not on sale from £0.39 to £29.99/£39.99. When you look at the videos of game play and screen captures as well as what few community members have posted reviews on Steam, you can tell almost straight away that the games are not worth the listed non discounted price.

One of my Steam friends called Obey the Fist posts daily reviews of what he often calls asset flips or non games; sometimes he posts several reviews a day; calling out these rip off merchants.

All that said, I do hope todays isn't one of those games? If the game does have 30 levels, then it's probably not one of those as those asset flipped games tend to have no more than 10 or less levels and even a single level in some cases.

I picked up a first person shooter last year that looked pretty good and I think used the Crytek engine, but the game play was literally a short and linear game with at the most ten to fifteen minutes of game play. A week after adding it to my account, it was removed from Steam together with the developers other games when it was found he was running multiple accounts and posting positive reviews of the games together with friends who were posting positive reviews to garner support.

Cad Delworth,

The video shows some slight differences between the one we have been given and the one represented in the video you linked to, which would lead me to believe the game giveaway version is possibly an earlier version?

Even the first training level looks different with the tunnel leading to the exit has a straight roof whereas in the Russian video the tunnel has a rocky looking ceiling. Also all the exits are represented by wooden doors whereas the giveaway version has the word exit emblazoned over the door which is virtually invisible. Plus the coloured key in level one of the Russian video is just the word Key in the giveaway version, leading me to believe it is an earlier version?

In today's game there may be a copyright violation as this game uses intellectual property of Sega on its background music from Ecco The Dolphin 2. It uses the opening song from their game. You can hear the track here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyxam_mAlm0

Otherwise I would say this game is difficult to play and the collision detection of when you jump can be difficult to judge. I found myself repeating the same opening screen over and over and eventually I got the hang of it only to face more difficulty in the long run.

Because of this it's not the most enjoyable platformer I've played I'd put this title in the back list of games yet to play. If you're looking for a more enjoyable platformer even though it's an old Dos game, I suggest Crystal Caves.

You can find it here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/358260/Crystal_Caves/

It's currently on sale for $0.49 and it's way more playable despite its age.

sailorbear510 aka Jason,

Hi Jason, I hope you and yours had a great Christmas and Boxing Day? I'm shattered after all the festivities. Crystal Caves is definitely worth picking up, especially as it's now 90% off until the 5th January.

Yes, it's definitely very difficult as I've still not got past level one after umpteen tries. The training levels were easy enough, but I kept getting killed before reaching the final obstacle.
