Retro Wave Race is a game in the genre of arcade racing.

The most all-inclusive Kakuro game on the market, Buku Kakuro ships with a built-in tutorial, three difficulty levels, a robust puzzle generator, as well as options that let you save, print and e-mail games. You can also display hints, highlight errors, undo moves, and solve puzzles step-by-step.

The Cross Sums, or Kakuro as it is called in Japan, is a very common type of logic puzzle that is often referred to as a mathematical transliteration of the crossword. For those who were overcome by last year Sudoku madness, this is something fresh for you to try.

Here the goal is the same: to figure out the unique solution by filling all empty cells with numbers from 1 through 9 using the given clues. The given clues are actually the sum of each segment. They are found above each column segment and to the left of each row segment. Using numbers from 1 through 9, the task is to fill in each segment of cells without repeating the same number in a segment.

Though it took nearly all day to download at 2-4k per second, using GetRight, I was finally able to download the whole program in spite of being knocked offline many times. We enjoyed testing it out and look forward to playing this game many times - it was well worth the time it took to download.
THANKS!!

Another winner. The easy level is pretty tough for me... maybe I need a little more practice.

I know this is off topic but if you can't find http://giveawayoftheday.com try entering this, http://www.game.giveawayoftheday.com . Not sure what has happened but it looks like a copy paste operation gone bad eh?

HAVING PROBLEMS ACCESSING WWW.GiveAwayOfTheDay.COM? Remove the "WWW." from the address! Works for me.

The name resolver is somehow screwed up.

I have been after a Kakuro game for ages, and this one is fantastic! I agree with #20 Cheryl, it is trickier than Sudoku, it's really helping me brush up my addition skills. Thanks heaps Merscom LLC and GGOTD.

There have been a few games offered by Merscom that I wanted, but with dial-up connections, files of this size just don't work for me. The best connection I can get is a 28.8 Kbps. I've tried to download and had problems with it just stopping. Trying to resume does not work. It starts over from the beginning. VERY frustrating. I wanted yesterday's game and today's game, but with the problems I've had, I won't be able to get them. Disappointing!!

I love SUDOKU and this looks interesting as well. I wasn't interested in this before because I don't like to add, but with the possible combinations, it is reduced to a logic game which I enjoy.

To Margie comment #21.... Rather than moving the whole of the games folder to the desk top, if you click on the folder and then right click on the executable file within the Buku Kakuro folder and scroll down to create a shortcut; you can then move this to the desk top, or to a games folder on the desk top.

With respect to this game; IMO it's a more entertaining game that Buku Sudoku, although the latter is as challenging. I would agree with Cheryl though that Sudoku becomes a little boring after a while

You will find 3 ogg files in the Karuko folder within a folder named OGG. If you have one of the audio converters that have been given away over the past 8 months you could choose music more to your liking, convert it to ogg, then rename them to 0.ogg, 1.ogg and 2.ogg before transferring them to the OGG folder. If you wish to keep the originals, then put them in a back up folder.

Overall I give this a 7 out of 10 for playability

Probably impossible to download in the remaining time on dialup, I'm left out. No analysis/rating of the game available from me.

To everyone having trouble finding this game on yout computer:

I couldn't find it either until I did the next few steps. Please bear with me, I am not computer savvy but this is what I did.

I went to the Start menu and pressed search
under the "all Files and folders" and in thef first box that reads
"all or part of the file name" I typed in "buku Kakuro" and the folder came up under my C hard drive

I went to "my Computer" and looked under my Hard Disk Drives under
"Local Disc (C:) I clicked on that and then clicked the "games folder"
and Buku Kakuro appeard and I just dragged that to my desktop.

From my desktop, I open the folder and click on the "BK" icon and the game starts right up

I'm sure there is an easier way to do this but Like I said, I don't know much about computers but this is how I got it done.
I hope this helps somebody.

I got so tired of Sudoku!!! This is a game to which I can relate. Since I noted the Sudoku craze, I have been telling everyone that its just too danged boring, but this game will rate among my favorites for a very long time. Thank you so much, GGOTD for thinking of those of us who like to use our minds, not just our joysticks or mouse clicks. Action games, even the usual puzzle games are wonderful (especially when free!) and action games can be entertaining, but a game like this will keep our minds sharp, as well as our reflexes.

I love GGTOD.

Downloaded this morning and played for a while. Download and play went smoothly, except for the funky install procedure. You really should not have to go search for a game on your computer once you install it.

Kakuro is more challenging than Sudoku, in my opinion. This game is really pretty and I like all the options available: skill levels, puzzle size, themes, sound and music controls, hints on/off. It's just a well-thought out and executed game - typical of what we have seen from Merscom. Now, if I could just get the hang of playing.

Gayle
I just downloaded and installed this game. I unzipped the file, then double clicked on the 'setup' file, which opened the Winzip program, and it asked me where I wanted to unzip those files to. The default on my computer was C:/games; after I unzipped those files, I went to that folder and opened the Buku Kakuro folder and there was the Kakuro.exe file- double clicking on it started the game. What exactly is happening when you start the process? I know you said earlier that it only shows the activation screen- are you talking about when a new page on GAOTD site opens and says the game is activated, what's next?

Gotta say I will never know if it is a good game or not. I have been downloading all night and here it is 3 in the afternoon and I downloaded 99.45% of the program and then I get the error message that the network says I don't have permission to download it. Well I guess that is the way it goes cause I just don't have the time to get it again. Thanks anyway.

Very nice game. First time I have tried this numbers game. I am quite happy with it. The background sounds/music is not annoying. I haven't figured out why the download it is so large, other than possibly the background images.

I agree with those who give this a 10. I've enjoyed Cross Sums for years and this version has all the bells and whistles I need to finish the puzzles....especially scratch marks (which allow you to keep track of possible solutions). If you like numbers, you're sure to like this game.

!En Espanol! :D SPANISH language version is included in the game. Just look in the upper left hand corner of the main menu. Thought I'd mention it here before I went any further, for those who might appreciate it. That's the first time I've ever seen that. Kudos to Merscomm LLC for recognizing the need.

Again an excellent game. There were several times gifts of Sudoku, but now for the first time Kakuro. It's at least even so challenging as Sudoku. The program works good, and again you can play it window-sized in stead of full screen. In fact the program itself works the same as the Sudoku-program of the same compagny. So in a scale from 0-10 I give the program 10 points.
