A game in which you play as two characters who save a young girl.

Improved version of popular collapse game. You can choose your preferred game mode: when the blocks of colored cubes grow like stalagmites or fall down like stalactites.

To prevent these cubes from filling the entire game screen you must burn blocks of three or more one-coloured cubes. Each further level demands you to be faster and faster. When cubes fill the entire game screen the game is over.

So be attentive, quite accurate and as fast as you can. The more free space remains on the game screen when you pass the level, the more points you get.

Additionally you can get bonuses for a good playing. Also you can use bombs - they help to destroy all cubes in a large radius rapidly and effectively.

I realise this post is late into the day of posting, but I hope it gets considered ...

Please could we get Peggle Deluxe? Believe it or not, I was playing the demo yesterday, and after the first screen, it is quite a good game - kind of like "Truth or Consequences" (you know, the TV show) game "Plinko" on steroids.

Any chance?

I just wanted to thank GGOTD for having the site in the first place. Even if I only get a game a month that I and/or my kids like it's still a great place to learn what's out there and after all they are free for us to try. I would also like to thank: whiterabbit, Merril and Swan for all the comments they post as I don't always have the time to try out everything at once and they give me all the info I need to know whether it's something I should try and lots of help on the ones I try and have questions about. I love their reviews (longwinded or not) because they are sincere and helpful. Anyone who doesn't like the long but thorough reviews does not have to read them. I'm sure the developers are the ones who read them anyway because they also help them out for future development of their games. (Sorry to be so longwinded myself but wanted to thank everyone I could think of - sorry if I left out anyone).

yes as you have read above this is the same as super blocks.
I downloaded it anyway, just to check it out.
Same game same play, same screens just a new game.
Its still fun to play , so if you didn't get super blocks, give this a try. You may like it.

Some people really have no manners. I find whiterabbit's (and also Swan's) comments quite informative, especially since the descriptions on the site often don't comment much on the game itself. So anyone who takes the trouble to try out the games and then post several paragraphs should really deserve better than flaming. I don't always agree with whiterabbit's opinions on the games, but I think it's a bit too much to call him windbag and know-it-all.

That said, today I won't download anything either. It's too bad that the site seems to feature only DoubleGames stuff. Though this won't stop me from checking the site daily - even if I only download 2-3 games every month, the games I keep are worth it. I just have learnt to stay clear of DoubleGames offers.

Seems like it might be getting hard to find a new game every day - hence occasional "duplicates" such as this, unintentional as it may be. How about moving the occasional screensaver to this page and offering one or two a week in place of a game? I notice that, perhaps due to the griping on the other site, that there have not been screensavers recently, and I actually like the occasional ss.

Thanks for the support folks. As for the moderators. I wish they would delete such posts as there is really no need for such personal comments/attacks.

Perhaps there should be rules like you see in many games forums, where flaming people, using bad language etc may lead to a ban, especially if warned and then repeating the offence.

I almost started to formulate a reply to the uncalled for comments, but the kind words from the community and the thought that I'd be bringing myself 'down' to the commenters level, stopped me from making a fool of myself. lol.

I have a lot of time on my hands and because I'm so grateful to this site for providing this service, I wish to repay it in some way. Time is all I have, so that's one of the reasons I am willing to take an hour or so out of my day to write these reviews. I wont be stopping because of some one who has a problem with themselves. :)

Have a great evening everyone. :D

Good morning everyone! ;)

I first wanted to agree upfront that it's true that this software house is merely Double Games in disguise. To me, this is the ultimate dishonesty in trying to present themselves here as a different software house because so many no longer want them here.

And here's the kicker - did GotD know?

The game downloaded/activated and installed easily. From the very first opening screen, one could see that it was just a repeat of Super Blocks and as such, here is my past review:

***************************************

Are game developers really allowed to copy games EXACTLY then market them as their own? This is absolutely no different to “Super Collapse” which I bought about a year ago!

C’mon Double Games - create something original, and if it’s going to be a clone - at least don’t make it an exact copy!

Oh well,

As for a review …

The game activated and installed easily.

The graphics are beautifully created and seem to be of a high quality.

Options are all in-game, very basic and curiously enough you can change modes in-game and still have it add to your current score. The options consist of turning sound FX on or off - a separate volume control for music and choosing maximised or small window. I had to turn the music off, as it’s still early morning here and I don’t feel like listening to square dance music. (rolls eyes}

You can also play stalagmite or stalegtite mode - AGAIN exactly the same as the above mentioned game. The only difference is that in stalactite mode, the blocks grow at the top of the screen, instead of the bottom.

No surprises with the bombs - black blows up blocks around it - and the colored bombs blow up bricks of the same color.

The instructions screen is also very basic, but I’m sure that everyone knows how to play this game anyway - it’s so very simple.

Between this and all the Tetris clones we had, I have to wonder just how much integrity there is in the game software world. At least each of the Tetris clones introduced something a little different - unlike this game.

Double Games I have to give you a thumbs down and a 1/10 for the graphics only. Thanks for being here.

Thanks GOTD - I’m curious about the process - do you choose the games to be on offer - or do you just take what the game developers give you?

Have a great day everyone! ;)

To #10-pbear: I for one, look for whiterabbit's reviews (among others) to help me decide whether the game is worth downloading. His reviews are always informative and open-ended, leaving the ultimate choice up to the individual gamer. Perhaps you should learn a thing or two from him.

Whiterabbit, keep up the objective, clear, informative reviews. I'm glad you're back!

re #1. Go to the Siteadvisor website and type in the game's URL. You'll see why the site comes up with a red. I already posted this but it didn't make it to the comments. If this is a red herring (no pun intended), it'd be nice for GGOTD to come out and say so - otherwise I can only concur that the 'safe' guarantee isn't quite what it appears to be.

In response to pbear in comment #10, I find whiterabbit's comments to be very informative. In fact, I generally scroll through the comments for these "windbag" comments because they tend to be the most well thought out, whereas your comment is simple bashing on someone who took the time out to give us an informed review. If you don't like these "windbag" comments, don't read them and save us the trouble of reading your petty bashes. You don't see me bashing people who say nothing but "These games are free; don't complain" despite the fact that these comments annoy me more than anything else.

I normally wouldn't reply to such a comment, but this pointless bashing just rubbed me the wrong way.

It should be noted that "Double Games", "Freegamesarea" or "Freegames4rest" are NOT game devellopers, they are game publishers. So seeing games that are the same from either one of those companies it perfectly normal, and it doesn't mean that they are the same company.

That said, there is a big chance that they are. Numerous "content peddler" have for target to start a new site per month, to increase their adsense presence. You see it all the time with free game sites or video sites. They make a bundle by just getting people to come to their site, even if its just to see what other offering they have and not selling anything.

Sad thing is that GGAOTD is rapidly loosing any credentials, down to a point where most people here would probably not even care if it was to shut down (the game part, not the app part). The idea is sound, but its becoming more and more like a half disguised portal for cheap content peddlers.

This game only "costs" 14.95 accordingly to gaotd, on the homepage linked by gaotd itself, its freeware - a flash executable.

Is gaotd "giving" away already free flashgames? Not very exciting.

This has nothing on Chroma Ways, an earlier giveaway. Blocks Annihilator is inferior in every way I can think of: Graphics, bonuses, controls, points scheme awarding strategy, level design, sound. Except price, which is 15$ compared to 19$. If you wish to buy a game of this kind, there is no reason to pick this one.

Due to DoubleGames' identical game earlier, I don't feel it is completely off-topic to respond to a post yesterday: I concede that DoubleGames is not trying to come across as a developer of casual games by giving away that kind here, my mistake. They are trying to come across as a *vendor* of casual games.

Straightforward game. Installation went fine. The graphics aren't fancy, and it would be nice if you could move blocks around to make combos, but that's just a suggestion. Addictive and perfect for those times when I play these sorts of games...while drinking my first cup of coffee or taking a mini-break while debugging code.

If the first few levels are too slow for you, you can click on the bar that's filling up with the next row to get the next row without waiting.

What a completely rude thing to say. Who made you the absolute authority on what makes a proper post? I, personally, find Whiterabbit's posts to be incredibly helpful. Whiterabbit writes thorough, well-thought reviews of the games. I've often based my decision of whether to download the day's game on his(her?) reviews.

I suggest you remove the bug that crawled up your nether region.

#10 Why do you feel the need to say things like that? Whiterabbit gives full reviews of the game that take him time to research and write. He does not criticize other commentors, developers or games. He uses this utility to comment on the software (THAT is what this page is for - "comment only on the software here" does NOT restrict that to your VIEWS on the software so Whiterabbit is entitled to write in the manner that he does) and many people read his genuinely useful and informative comments before downloading.

I quote yourself in your above post

This comment section was intended to be impression/noted problems/or other comments re: software offered each day.

Where is your mention of the software????

PS Why does it bother you so much? I read a quote in an email last week that said "The only reason someone would ever hate someone else is if they wanted to be just like them" - whilst I think the quote itself is not true in all cases, feeling the need to personally attack individual commentors does perhaps hint at an air of envy. Why else would you take the time to write rather than skipping over a comment you did not care for??

Blocks games are fun, Thanks . For thoes of you who may be new to this website, not every game offered by Double Games are lame. I have several that we really enjoy. I posted a message yesterday that was perhaps just a bit negative. Thomas, who is eleven came over ,as he does every day, to see if I had downloaded a new game. Upon hearing I had not,he requested that I download and let him try it. I put the spider game on and let him play. He really enjoyed it. Someone had compared it to Butterfly Catcher and although it is true that there are spiders and bugs in both games, the Spider game from yesterday is much better. The graphics are better and the game playing experience is better. I deleted Butterfly Catcher and kept the Spider game. I also learned not to judge a game before I {or Thomas and John}have tried it. So, try the games before you post a comment. Trust Whiterabbit's review. He always gives the best technical discriptions and advice about game play. Todays block breaker may be just the game for you,or some youngster you know. Its way better than being awash in green blood and its FREE. Thanks GAOTD

This comment section was intended to be impression/noted problems/or other comments re: software offered each day. Whiterabbit's writeups resemble a magazine review or owners manual. #5 Yes, FreeGames4Rest and Double Games are the same company, when they (FreeGames4Rest) offered Royal Suduko a couple of weeks ago and the graphics were the same as ones used by Double Games I had a look at the home pages of both developers and they were offering the exact same titles as one another.

That said I agree that this is just an observation rather than a criticism and I do stress again that I personally believe Double Games' software should be evaluated on the game itself and not on past flaws.

I did not know of this site when they offered the SuperBlocks game in early May and despite having up to now not being a big fan of Double Games titles merely for the game play and graphics, I love this game!!

I actually had this game on an old mobile phone and loved it then so this is fab!

Simple to pick up and addictive to play ("I think I'll just have one more game") this is a great little time waster that promotes strategic thinking and quick reflexes. Uniquely it gives the options of having the lines formaing at the top ("Stalactite" mode) or at the bottom ("Stalagmite" mode), this does not change the game play itself just the position of where the blocks form. It is a shame that it does not give the option of choosing which level you would like to start from or have different difficulty modes as the beginning level is slow but you have to go through the beginning levels each time you play.

I am in no doubt that people will say on here today that it is not fair to give the same game twice in this manner but I think we must all bear in mind that the purpose of the site is not to build up an individual's collection with a unique title each day. There will be many people who did not download this the first time around and indeed give their feedback to the developers (the point of the site!) regarding this game.

Nice catch Chloe and Whiterabbit.

So now the list of companies that have shown by there offerings here that they don't mind selling overpriced underdeveloped games is augmented by one.

So far I have learnt to steer clear from the following companies

Double Games
Realapex
Alivegames
Freegamesarea
Freegames4rest

I don't think that they really intended that when signing up with GGAOTD but because of their actions it is only a logical conclusion.

When I booted up this game I thought immediately that I’d seen it before. Yep! It’s Super Blocks from May 9th, only with one difference.

Check out the two links below and you’ll see what I mean:
Blocks Annihilator:
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/BlocksAnnihilator2.gif
Super Blocks:
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/SuperBlocks002.gif

There is only one change on the main menu page Blocks Annihilator says copyright FreeGames4Rest and Super Blocks says Copyright Double Games. I’m ‘not’ confused. Is FreeGames4Rest the same distributor as DoubleGames?
I’m probably one of the few commenter’s on this site that hasn’t said much against Double Games; in fact I tried to post a reasonably positive review of yesterdays game ‘twice’ (which incidentally took me over an hour to write), but it never showed up in the comments section. This has been happening a lot recently. Rather than spend more of my valuable time rewriting a review for this game, I’ve copied my post from the 9th of May, which was when Super Blocks was given away:

This is a copy of my post from May 9th:

Installation was a breeze as usual. Once installed and activated, the game automatically starts in windowed mode. As with most Double Games, there’s no options menu, but you can change to full windowed mode by clicking on the top right of the window, using the usual window configuration buttons.
The instructions are easily understood and a brief explanation of the power ups is given. There are two types of power up, black bombs and color bombs. You’ll also find a brief explanation of the playing modes. You can toggle arcade mode on or off and also play in Stalactite and Stalagmite modes.
I found the music a little irritating after a while, but this as well as the sound effects can be turned off anytime during game play from the right of the playing field.
If you clear a field during a level you get bonus points as well a bonus points for removing large numbers of blocks with one click. (This can be accomplished by strategically leaving one color untouched until you have built up a large section of them).
As you progress through the levels, the speed will slowly start to increase, making it more difficult to keep up. There’s no selection for difficulty though. To the left of the playing field you can see a pane that tells you how many lines are left to complete the level as well as the level number and your score so far. Underneath the pane it tells you whether you are in arcade mode or not.
When one of the power ups appears such as the color bomb, clicking on it will cause all the blocks of that color to explode. However if you click on a set of three or more colored blocks that contain the same colored bomb, it will act as just a normal block. The black bombs remove any colored blocks within a certain radius of the bomb.
This is a simple and reasonably entertaining game. I have a copy of the first of the Super Collapse series and this is virtually identical to it apart from having the Stalactite and stalagmite modes. The music and sound effects that support the Super Collapse series are better in my opinion, but that’s not what I buy a game for usually. If you don’t have any super collapse games, this should definitely be a keeper for your library of games.
If you really like this game, then ‘I would’ suggest you try Super Collapse 3 which is ‘basically’ the same game, but it has several features that make it a must have to this genre of game; such as being able to create user accounts, loads of power ups and several modes of play, some of which are very challenging. You can check out a demo from the following url:
http://www.gamehouse.com/gamedetails/?game=collapse3

There’s a decent options menu and you can also win trophies for attaining specific goals.
However for a basic collapse game Super Blocks is more than adequate.
Thank you yet again Double Games for another playable game and also thanks to the GGAotD team for providing this service.
As one comment above said; “Super Collapse 3 really does put this one to shame”….well that may be, but I wouldn’t personally use ‘shame’ because I think Super Blocks was made before Super Collapse 3, so it’s a little ‘strong’ to use such words. I could just as easily say that Magic Ball 3 puts Magic Ball 2 to shame or Battlefield 2142 puts Battlefield 1942 to shame, but that really is silly as they are just developmental improvements, and a good way to fleece the public of more money, for what are basically the same games, with just eye candy for extras. (my opinion of course.) Put another way, all they are, is a development from the original idea. Super collapse 3 has been developed for a specific market, so unless you’re a fanatic over this type of game, I’d expect most people would be grateful for the opportunity to try Super Blocks out before committing themselves to paying nearly $20 to upgrade to Super Collapse 3. I’m just as happy playing Super Blocks for free than buying Super Collapse 3. Each to their own though.

I always try to give a positive review and rarely say anything negative, so I wont here, but there does seem to be something fishy about a game with two names copyrighted by two different companies. I felt like saying hey, this is a swizz; however there will have been those of us who missed the first giveaway, and I’ve gained so much from this site and all the developers that have contributed that I’d just like to say a big thank you to the Giveaway team and this new company called FreeGames4Rest. A great sounding name with a little bit of irony in it I suspect. :D

Have a great day everyone.

What's the difference between this and regular blocks? I didn't see any... It all looks and plays the same I thought.
