I found a bug in Japan - the tea recipe is always the same. Also it seems like you can't combo seating guests. Is that intended?

I really like time management games and I've played a lot. This has the potential to be a really good game if you smooth some things out. Graphics are good, the little minigames to make dumplings and kebabs are a good twist, and I like the characters.
Problem is, I've never run across one that offered me impossible/confusing objectives before. I can't pass level 2-10. I'm mostly gold up to that level and my restaurant is fully upgraded. I'm supposed to "serve 7 guests while making them happy", serve 3x3 fruit baskets, or 5 ice cream cones. The guests aren't requesting enough fruit or ice cream. I've tried twice and got 4 ice cream and about 5-6 sporadic fruit requests that couldn't served in combos at all. My restaurant is fully upgraded and mostly my guests are ordering food, getting full hearts, and going to the karaoke machine without ordering many extras.
You need to explain what "serve 7 guests while making them happy"
even means. I am an adult with very good reading comprehension and you haven't explained this well enough for me to understand the goal. Am I to make 7 happy in a row? I'm pretty sure I've done that although the game offers me no feedback to be certain. Fill the restaurant with 7 at once? They leave too quickly. Seat 7 at once? The game hasn't offered me 7 guests in line together. Is it supposed to be some sort of combo? That isn't indicated either. Why did I get up to 5/7 once with no indication of what I did? How do I get the other two? I'm bewildered.
I also can't get gold on 2-6 for similar reasons. I'm supposed to serve a certain salad and make 7 customers happy with it, but only the camel likes it and I didn't get 7 camels. I tried twice. I also had trouble with the 3x5 kebabs because I had installed flowers and ice cream so the customers weren't requesting enough kebabs to get that many combos. Am I supposed to somehow know that I shouldn't add leis and ice cream until after 2-6? Turn off the flowers and ice cream if I'm supposed to serve 15 kebabs in combo.
This would be a really good game if more care were taken with the level objectives and explanations, UI (see my comment above about yes/no), and making sure players have their restaurant set up correctly to actually complete objectives. If karaoke is required, the game should make sure they have a karaoke machine. If I'm supposed to serve a million kebab combos, the game needs to be sure my other upgrades don't interfere.
Coin drop needs to not interrupt the level. My guests are getting unhappy while it runs and it gets confusing if you're in the middle of setting up a combo when it appears. Pause the guest timer, please. Same with trophies. The game needs to award trophies at the end of the level so players can see what they have accomplished, not hunt desperately for the close button because their guests are waiting.
Chef upgrades don't feel very useful. I can play with 3 or 4 dishes. The 5th upgrade just makes the game more confusing when you go to serve food. It would be better if upgrading the chef gave access to dishes that make all your customers happy.
Let me seat dancing customers, please. It's disruptive to my rhythm to have to wait for them to finish.
I hope this helps. I'm trying to offer constructive criticism that could turn a good game into a great one. :-)

This is a good game. I like the little minigames. Combos are not well explained.
When I earn gold on a level a menu asks me whether I want to keep playing and has yes/no answers. It's really confusing because I have to read the question every single time to remember whether to hit yes or no. Make the buttons read "stop" and "continue playing" or something like that so that I don't have to read the question or memorize what yes and no mean.
I'm not crazy about the coin drop. It's fun the first couple times but not every single level. I feel like I'm missing out on upgrades if I mess up the coin drop, even if I got gold for the level.

Further to my review yesterday ....
I'm officially addicted! :D I've been playing it for most of the day and I've nearly finished Hawaii, my 2nd restaurant.
Combos:
3 Combo: do exactly the same thing 3 times in a row;
4 Combo: do exactly the same thing 4 times in a row;
5 Combo: do exactly the same thing 5 times in a row:
The other number tells you how many (n) combos you need to finish the level (along with the other goals).
I hope that's understandable, if not I'll clarify it further for you ;)
BTW: Yes, the games are always free at MyPlayCity everyday, but you also have to deal with a check box wanting to hijack your homepage and search bar every time you play the game also. Just an FYI ;)

Nice game! I like the variety of mini games inbetween running around filling orders. Thanks Alawar & GOTD!

I found a bug. During the Hawaiian 1st stage, if I continue to serve customers after I finish all the goals, the game will not end. I tried it again just to be sure and it happened the 2nd time as well.

I have this game already and love playing it. I am a Time Management Game lover and this is one of my many favorites. It is well worth the download and well worth the time playing. Enjoy the characters and the different twist on serving them.

Definately going to download this one, but obviously the game wasn't written by anyone who is a native-English speaker.
What's "time times?"

Oh, btw, I wasn't 100% sure, but people seem to come into your restauraunt just to do karaoke then leave without being seated/eating. I'm not even sure they pay. Huh? Maybe I should be more observant, but that's my point. Too many irrelevant details when you're trying to run a restauraunt.

I played through level 2-1 to get to more than one restaraunt to compare differences. I'm not going to vote no on this one, but I don't feel it's entirely successful. I'm going to keep it but not sure how much I'll play it. Dayterium Games (the actual developer) has tried to add new wrinkles to the standard restauraunt game. But a lot of it has the feel of just throwing in the kitchen sink. There are elements that make me wonder why there even in the game. Pehaps they all have a good reason, but many aren't really explained. Some are counter-intuitive to a restauraunt game. Many of these things strike me as either irrelevant or irritating. Understand, I got gold or silver on every level - I wasn't motivated to go back and get the gold on every level, partly to write this review, and partly because it just didn't grab me. But I don't write these criticisms about confusing points because I find the game too hard.
Some examples: Why on the ordering screen is the progress of the chef shown? I can't see where it really changes anything. If your going to order the same thing your chefs already preparing, you should be able to remember that without help, especially in a game which seems to emphasize that you remember all kinds of other details - like which dish each particular guest likes. It does tell you whether you have orders to deliver, but it shouldn't take you that long to take orders in the first place. Most of the time, you're just clicking the same dishes over and over again. Some of the customers preferences are just funny. The old dog likes meat in France, but what looks like oysters in Hawaii. And the kitty girl doesn't like fish in France. Sounds like most kitties I know, lol. Why not just make them human? They even recycled a character. Alex Gordon (also from Dayterium) is part of your clientele. Maybe it's an in joke. :)
The upgrade system isn't clearly explained. Does picking a higher star upgrade raise the stars of your restauraunt? Does it change what objectives come up? Does it even matter? Then there's the double cross aspect. In level 1-9 I had the choice between 2 recommended upgrade. I couldn't afford both. I chose to upgrade the chef and not to add karaoke. Then my objective comes up including having 2 customers do karaoke. So I can't complete my objective. Which is silly, because why would customers come into a place for karaoke that has no karaoke? BTW, in the next level, you discover karoake actually interferes with you seating customers, because while they're dancing to the karaoke (people don't usually dance to barely competent amateur singers) they refuse to be seated. And I saw no value to upgrading the chef. It doesn't seem to change the menu at all, and the first level chef can cook everything on the menu.
Also, Bilbo seems to be able to take orders while delivering to other tables, which is counter-intuitive AND less challenging. The extras add variety to it, like mini-games. But the pancakes (crepes) are particularly silly. The banana, mushroom, tomato paste, strawberry, cream, chocolate crepes? Yummy! Or maybe they're seperate because there's three crepes from 4 ingredients. Or are there? (My head hurts!) Reading a magazine after you eat? That'll speed up clearing the tables. Maybe the game should add after dinner coffee. Finally, the combo objectives do add variety, but they also encourage you to NOT always do things in the most efficient manner, which is the point of this type of game.
Let me contrast this with one of my favorites, Jane's Hotel: Family Hero. That game doesn't have nearly as much variety and isn't as challenging. But I enjoy it a lot more because it's clean, everything's well explained, and everything makes sense in a restauraunt setting.
Don't get me wrong. I think this has the potential to be one of the finest restauraunt games ever. It just needs a rethink. Bigger isn't always better. Either the game should be streamlined or all the details should fit the setting and be properly explained.
This is a decent game, but I don't find it that compelling in terms of playability or replayability.

What a charming little game!! Not sure why the 33% thumbs down, but I guess if it's not your cup of tea maybe? I usually do not like the waiting table time management games, I like the building ones or the ones where you clear paths...this however caught my eye! Alawar has gotten a ton of money from me and as always they make a great game! This one is so cute with the animals. I would have liked more of a variety of patrons though. I thought the little mini games like with the different dishes quite fun, and breaks up things a bit. The coin catching is great also!
Always good things to say about this company. Thank you Game Giveaway for a great title, and thank you to Alawar also! I love to buy your games!
PS White Rabbit, you are missed!!

Thanks so much for this game. Fun although I am only a few levels into it. I enjoy the time management games. I hope it progressively gets harder as I play. As someone else mentioned, the combos are difficlut to understand. Last play I got 2 and am not sure HOW I did it. Also, I don't like the money net much because it just pops up and as I am on my laptop, it is harder to catch with this mouse. Thanks again, though, I do enjoy the games!

I give this game Thumbs Up. Everything installed perfectly not like yesterdays trouble. Nothing would even install for me yesterday. All i kept getting yesterday was error messages. Alawar Games are always easy at installing, Never an error message. Graphics and sound are great. Good Game for people who like this type of game. Not really the type of game i like very much, but it does work and that is what matters and it runs well.

Lovely game. It is a bit like Diner Dash game but the graphics are much better. There is also some like puzzle and activities such as flash mini games. This reminds me of Wendy's Wellness which is better than Fitness dash on a lot of ground. This present game is about serving customer and selecting the dish which please them the most. So it's important to select the dish which makes the customer smile. Otherwise your score will suffer. Obviously, you need to match chain action. But I haven't seen any color, so that's the main difference between this Alawar game and the Diner dash game. I recommend it. It is cute and fun.

Good game, thank GGOTD and Alawar :) It's easy to play and have fun.
To get combos, you make the same action for twice or three times, etc.

Downloaded/installed fine on Vista 64-bit.
Nice clean graphics, simple fun music. Suggesting some sound effect on the coin-catching bonus level when you get a coin in your net.
This the second time management game I've played, the first being Amelie's Cafe. The difficulty is increasing much slower in this game compared to Amelie's Cafe.
It's easier getting used to things, it doesn't quite seem as challenging. I've only got four tables so far though, I can tell it's going to get harder.
I don't understand how to get combos, it wasn't explained well in the game (in my opinion, maybe I just didn't "get it", very likely).
So far, I really like the game. I'm especially happy to see it since I lost Amelie's Cafe when my computer had to do a restore a few days after I DLed that game. Grr!

Downloaded and installed just fine on Win 7, in spite of Themida wrapper :P ;)
This is a time management game, the genre being one which I've revisited in my game library lately, so this comes in just nicely for me at the moment and of course being an Alawar game, it's safe and does always install well.
Very cute character twist on the cafe time management games, though not quite as detailed, but that may only be because I'm not that far into the game yet and only have five tables. You start with 2 or 3, I can't remember which.
Graphics and animation are great, using bright colors that will engage the mind of any very young player to adult.
The options are the usual without anything particularly to worry about.
I see these time management games (not the really difficult ones) as great games for kids, to actually learn time management and discuss with parents how that translates into real life.
It's also learning the basics of business management (when to pay for restaurant upgrades, buy new equipment etc.) All good lessons at a very basic level for young kids. I'm not saying any particular age, because it really depends on the child and how developed their mental agility is already.
Thank you Alawar you rock and remain my all time favorite game publisher!
Thank you also to GGotD, who enable us to have these games for free. ;)
It's 2am here and I'd like to keep playing the game, but a movie beckons. ;)

This is a fun time management game. I say fun, but it can also be frustrating, depending on how good you are at this type of game. There is no installation routine. Instead it is a straight unzip from the setup file. The game folder is unzipped to a location of your choice on your computer. This is a breathe of fresh air after yesterday's disaster. Thank you GGAOTD team for your efforts. And of course thank you to the publisher, Alawar Entertainment, for your offering. Your games are always top notch and you are always most welcome here.
