No idea if anyone will read this but it's worth a try. I asked a question about an alert in comment #58 and am still wondering about it. Also.....I've seen it mentioned several times that there is no un-installer on this game and it is not showing up in add/remove. Will deleting the files from explorer take this game off of my computer? If not.....I'm hoping someone can tell me how to un-install it manually. I know that tech questions are supposed to go to the forum but the forum is disjointed and not so much help imho.

My only comment is... Can GAOTD point to the correct webpage when posting.. I like looking at screenshots (You show some.. They may show more) and reading the info on the games.. And pointing to just http://www.merscom.com makes us have to search for the game.. Which isn't easy as they have no search option on their website.. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I couldn't get it to download but tried #54's suggestion and went to:

http://www.speedbit.com/

this worked great. It opened right up and downloaded...took about 35 minutes but it wasn't downloading at all before.

Downloaded and installed fine but will not open as it says I do not have enough memory to run...oh well. It looked good anyway. Thanks GGOTD for trying but I guess my computer is just not up to snuff to run this. Will be back tomorrow to see what else is new. Thanks.

Wish I could make a comment one way or another about this game. I have been trying and trying all day and night and neither link is working. I can't believe no one ever looked into fixing this issue. :(

To Jonney 934 comment 56, Myst is a great game. It really takes a lot of brain power to play. It was my first PC game back in 98. I agree with you. If GOTA could get it from Cyan Worlds it would be a great offering. Revenge was the BEST of the series. If you have not played that one look it up.

It took two tries but the game finally downloaded and installed properly. It took about 45 minutes. I do not enjoy games that use the key board to play. I like mouse. This is the only thing I can find that I do not like about the game. The graphics are great and I like the way the dude looks back in disgust when I run him into a fence. Merscom is the bomb. The games they have given are all quality games, better than one could expect for FREE.They have offered a lot of variety to fit most peoples taste. This has been a good week for downloads from Giveaway Of the Day. Thanks ever so much. See you in the morning.

FLASHGET Download worked great as connections to wikifortio always were dropped during download using web browser. Flashget uses 6 sockets (jet) that automatically reconnect after disconnect. Yesterdays download completed quickly with browser but today wouldn't. I am using Flashget from now on. Thanks for the tip #27!!! Thank you GAOTD!!!

THANK YOU! This is a quality game with good player response, well worth the frustration of getting downloaded and activated. And, Ravenhill, it does run on my Vista OS without issue (friendly jab).

I have a proposition to make, because so many people have problems with downloading within the time the offers are made.

Why not give the opportunity to activate the programs within, let's say, a week. This would give more people the chance to try out the programs offered and add a further commercial value for the manufacturers for their products, which I certainly believe everyone on both sides would value. Not all of us have the luxury of having a high speed connection to the internet, but that doesn't mean that the slow connections don't have the money to spend on programs. They simply might not have the possibility to gain access to high speed.
Again: think about the market (the customers), not the marketeers (commercial ignorants).

@ gotd: For dialup you should release the download a day early but have it activate on the day it would have if you hadn't put the download up.

Giveaway setup does not work under Windows98!
Please fix immediately.
Just do it like yesterday. The game from yesterday installed fine on Windows 98.
Todays giveaway setup.exe seems to use visual c++ runtimes that do not support Windows 98.

This is the second cool looking program in 2 weeks that I haven't been able to download. I don't know if the files are too big or what. It shows download time of several hours and if it does down load it show that the file is corrupted. The last one I finally got downloaded but it was too late to install it, it had gone into the next day. If your going to offer these please make it doable.

@ #27 SILLY VIRUS was detected in that FlashGet download from the URL you suggested. I prescanned the EXE file and it said it was fine,.. only after it was installed did it show VIRUS. I Just put in a new harddrive here, and have a brand new Update of virus definitions.
Silly Virus is a worm Virus, and is of low Threat level, but embedes itself even into floppy and removable drives.

I think its great to be able to download here without problems. I hope, as with many others the GOTD will find a downloader for us.

Just a small note on download utilities - Flashget works great - BUT - if you happen to use PeerGuardian, you'll notice it constantly tries to connect to sites on the blocklist.

I now use http://www.orbitdownloader.com - it's very similar to Flashget but not quite as polished, but works great with Firefox.

This actually downloaded without any problems. This is the third game I have tried to download and the first one that actually works for me. WWII and Extinction would not work properly.

I think it would be great if someone could answer us that have problems as to why our download would not work. No one seems to try to offer help on here and the forum is no better.

To 36 & 44. I had the same problem with activation. I found the solution was temporarily to turn off my firewall. Activated straight away then.

To all of those who complains about big files that takes forever to download … How about taking some of the money that you have saved with all this free stuff and buy yourself a desent connection?,

Hello, is anyone in there?? some of us arent complaining about the size.
As a rule, bigger is better when it comes to games and we realize that. There is NO high speed in some of our areas, it's simply NOT available.

All we are asking is GOTD make the activation available to 56kr's beyond the 24 hour period. I'm glad to see them getting some decent games in here and some of us just want to play them.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>I"M ON 56K AND I LIKE BIG GAMES.

I'm glad to see a 3D sports game on here (and especially one covering a sport that I like), so thanks for that. Admittedly this game didn't seem that fun to me when I first tried it, but I'll save it for a rainy day and see if it hooks me.

Does anyone have a reason why i simply can't reach Giveawayoftheday in order to unwrap and install large packs (it's the second i'll miss, 1st was WW2 Tank Commander)? When clicking setup.exe it takes an entire life just to say at the end it can't activate soft!
Please help!

Well, I managed to install the game but when I ran it I got the message "Available texture memory is too low for this game to run" and the game stopped loading. Since there are 2 gigs on the PC, I suppose that my graphics card - a Matrox P750 - isn't up to it?

I have very fast broadband and it still took a long time to download.

Now I can't get it to activate. It tries to run home to mama to activate but seems to just sit there waiting. In the meantime, everything is freezing up.

#19 and #29: it's not a matter of not wanting to get a better connection - I'd get one immediately, but I live in a small town where right now dial-up is the ONLY possible option. No dsl, no cable, nothing. I use Flashget, but even with that useful program, there is no way to get such big files in a few hours.

Anyway, even if I can't play them, I commend GGotD and Merscom for the latest offerings, and I'm recommending them to some friends living in cities with broadband :)

I d/l and instaled the game. I love the graphics. Very nice. The only bad thing I could say is about the controls. It seems to only use rhe keyboard. Too bad you can't use the mouse or set up a game pad. Thank you very much GAOTD and Merscom. Everyone who comes to this site appreciates your efforts.

I think I will pass. I find it funny however people complaining about the time for the download. I have stupid DSL, and yet I could probably get this in under a half hour. Hell it takes me two days to download six gigs of data. Honestly you people must have really crappy connections.
