Hi, I do think your site may be having web browser compatibility issues.
Whenever I look at your website in Safari, it looks fine however,
when opening in Internet Explorer, it's got some overlapping issues.
I merely wanted to give you a quick heads up! Aside from that, wonderful site!

very nice graphics, like everyone else said, great for kids. though you could just add the difficulty levels and everyone in the family could enjoy.difficult to play both pollen guns with touch pad, better with mouse. didnt really need the gun upgrades, easy enough to put bad bugs to sleep with original, maybe make that more difficult? maybe not if target is young ones.
definitely agree that views of the hive, other bees would be a plus in overall look and feel. but as is, it's a keeper. thanks!

Hmm... A bit boring, but maybe good for children. Haven't really played it, considering it lags quite a bit on my ancient graphic card. Just an interesting note, this game uses the same engine as the Stars Ashes games. Maybe they're forking into a more family oriented company?

I find I can use my graphic card to verify many developers' system requirements.

OS: Windows 2000/ XP/ Vista/ 7 << XP
CPU: Pentium 1000Mhz (or equivalent) << Got that
RAM: at least 512Mb << Yup
Hard Drive space: 150Mb << Ditto
Video Card: Direct3D compatible 3D-graphics card with 64Mb << This is the interesting one
Sound Card: Windows compatible sound card << Everyone has that

Funnily enough 64MB does not cut it, really, with any game. The best performance I got out of my Nvidia GeForce MX 440 was 15 FPS. (I still can't figure out if I upgraded by adding a discreet graphic card or downgraded, as I got DX 8.0 over DX6, but limited my RAM down to 64MB, while I had 100 and some MBs.) And I doubt that a 1GHz processor would work very well with games either.

So, dear developers, please test your system requirements first. If you say 1GHz processor and 64MB graphic card, and it's a 3D game, you're almost guaranteed to get bad performance.

This game was fun, granted, but as I was launching Bee Adventure for the first time, Advast came up with a warning telling of malware. I thought nothing of it and didn't bother telling Advast to do anything. But when I had exited out of Bee Adventure, my screen started having the equivalent of white noise like on a TV. Rebooting my computer also had a few problems. After all the problems were fixed, I deleted it.

I don't like shooter games, so I won't test today's game.
But Stephen, you made me smile...
When I was a child, we also liked to play Cowboys and Indians, although we had never seen a real one. This time we also had no television and I don't remember, how we knew about them.

for 70MB I expected more ... what's the idea behind this piece of software? What can you learn from it? Get/train a better reaction, learn to look more carefully for things, compare them ...?
No, just simply press mouse buttons and shoot/fire honey balls to extinguish enemies *haha*
- Outpost also reported two trojans
- game always crashes/hangs after level 4 (does not react any more and is stopped) and can only be restarted at level 2
- as I do not quite get the underlying sense/attitude/purpose of this game (there is nothing to detect, remove, where you have to think about, calculate, etc.), I think it is a piece of crap(ware)
not quite educationally valuable

AFter playing the first level, I found that the sound disappered about half way through the second level and didn't return for the third level. I quit and restarted picking up where I left off and it still didn't help. I went back to full screen from a window and it didn't help. I may try other things later.

win 7 x64 enterprise if it makes a difference (sp 1)

Nice graphics, 3D cartoon scroller. But poor, monotonous, and boring. Also buggy. On level 5 the "boss" at the end didn't appear and I had to restart the level. On level 10 it crashed to desktop and on reloading all previous progress was lost.

Spelling mistakes for the developer to correct: Eatable / edible. Posionus / Poisonous. Pick-up (is a truck) / pick up (two words).

I was really waiting for this game to develop. After level 3 I wanted to quit... but I persevered. To no avail! Deleted.

Fun little game! I thought the music was fine and the sound effects to be rewarding....it was a fun little shooter. I will keep this and play it when taking a break from Dragon Age Origins I just got off of Steam.

I did find that some of the sunflowers, and strawberries and also mushrooms did not include the bonuses that the game or the screen shots showed. I was unable to do as well because of that. I will try the level again and see if it is fixed but there were many strawberries and mushrooms on the first level. I did not find one bonus. I like the game and find it amusing. I guess I have too much kid in me!! LOL I love the simple gameplay and colorful graphics. I cannot find anything that I would change in this game. Thank you! I did not think we would get a game this week. I was very happy when I opened my email today!! A fuzzier bee man would be fun for this....a look inside the hive and maybe seeing fellow bees around would have been nice too.

A very nice beginning shooter for children. No problems installing or running through 3 levels on 64bit Win7.

The graphics are bright and colorful, gameplay is simplem and the bad guys are neither scary nor do they actually die in the game.

It is also nice that pkayers are able to collect honey from flowers that aren't fully pollenated since pollenating all of the flowers before collection might be difficult for children.

For adults, though, the game is a bit lacking. While I loved the cute concept, the difficulty level just wasn't there. If there were a 'hard mode' with more dangerous enemies or walls to avoid (as opposed to the more gentle dragonflies, spiderwebs, etc., it might pose a little more challenge and be interesting to both children and adults.

I am one of those adults who likes a lot of what other people call children's games. But this one seemed monotonous, so I was anxious for level 1 to end. I didn't give it a thumbs up or thumbs down because I don't have little kids, and I can't judge it fairly.

Game downloaded fine. Ran setup, fine worked first time.
Obviously aimed at the youngsters, but good graphics that would appeal to children, well thought out sound too, a sound for each action, and no thumping music, for a change.
Ran full screen, and was very smooth, all controls from the mouse, so nothing to explain to the user.
Very good, will look out for this type of thing again from Giveawayoftheday.

I have Windows 7 Pro and had trouble. After completing the first level, I could not play level 2. Like #11, I got a similar Windows message stating that there was a problem and that the game would be closed.
In addition, the shooting action was not realistic. When I aligned the bee with an approaching flower, without even shooting, the bell sounded and the stripe would disappear. Once I discovered this, I tested subsequent flowers and it occurred to every one.
Therefore, some children may be very disappointed to discover that they weren't necessarily such great, accurate sharpshooters. Also, the parents may be very unhappy.

If this were to be a Wheemplay game I would have been really outstanding. For a 70 MB download I expected more, though I do realize that the graphics and interactions are too complex for a flash-besed game as Wheemplay-games are.

But for a full blown as-real-as-it-can-get game I'm disappointed, because it is much too simple.

I do like the graphics though, a cartoon-like style is very much agreeable with me. I like the bright and vivid colours and the atmosphere of the game.
But there is no way that I will leave a game installed that takes about 150 MB and being almost no game at all.

So I think Stephen is very right to catogorize this game as a childgame, they might really enjoy it. It's just not for me, but there are many many others ofcourse.

#4: "Microsoft Security Essentials detected a trojan & when instructed to remove it, deleted this game. Anyone else have the same problem?"

#10: "Comodo picks up TrojWare.Win32.Trojan.Obfuscated"

Security Essentials & McAfee Total Protection 2011 give the setup file & once installed, the program files a clean bill of health.

* * *

FWIW, I didn't try this, but it might be something that those with younger children might experiment with -- in the Bee Adventure\data\Player folder are a couple of *.ini files you could try editing if a child needed a little extra help.

Downloaded and installed on win7x64 enterprise with no problem. It is colorful and relatively easy to play but clearly intended for either youngsters or oldersters like me whose reflexes are not what they used to be. My major criticism is that when put into windowed mode (as opposed to full screen) the mouse pointer is captured and there does not appear to be an obvious way to move your pointer out of the playing window while the game is running. This makes the game essentially a single task experience.

#6: "Game has “a bad zip header” whatever that means – I can’t open it."

One way to make sure you downloaded the complete file is to check the md5 [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD5 ] using something like the free tool here: http://www.winmd5.com/ . The md5 for BEEAdventure.zip = 0582da1088d4212ba4ffcd8497bbebb4 . I *try to remember* to post the md5 sum for that reason -- if you have problems unzipping [expanding or extracting] the file it can be a software problem on your end, or it can be you didn't get the complete file to start with, & the md5 will tell you if your download was/is incomplete.

Hi Stephen;
So nice to read your reviews every week, altho I don't jump in to comment that often, and glad that you came up with a "blanket statement" about reviews that we post when we try the software, it does seem to have had an effect as I notice more people post reviews than before, at least in terms of things the developers want to know instead of generic "I like this game" posts. (You may have more influence than you thought!)

Today's game is bright and colorful although simplistic and therefore aimed at young children (and I'm not one of those!), the gameplay at the beginning is slow and easy which should help little ones pick up the rhythm quickly. I like the concept and the result is a nice, simple shooter without any violent overtones - I can't picture any reasonable parent objecting to this one - c'mon, it puts "opponents" to sleep! Controls are intuitive and targeting is easy, so that should limit any frustration factor - my younger grandkids find complex aiming a bit off-putting at first but this should grab their attention and hold it. All in all, a lovely game, sure to delight at least some portion of younger gamers, and a few old-timers like us, eh? (I like it when I can HIT what I aim at!) Hardware requirements are minimal, so this game should install nearly everywhere with no trouble. One small note - the hints become intrusive quickly, although a simple un-check on the pop-ups (lower left, the check goes from filled-in to outline) remedies that right away.

Score this one a keeper for me, and a 9.5 of 10 for overall excellence - well done, whoever you are, developer - I only took off 1/2 point for the website, which gives little hint who's behind the game although it covers gameplay well enough. Don't know that I'd buy it, even for $5, but for a freebie it's a nice, relaxing time that I'm glad is being offered today, and my grandkids will each get turns at it soon enough - I only wish they were here today so I could add their comments.

Take care, Stephen, and spend some time with your family today instead of herding us all day, eh? I remember the potato guns too, and we'd always try to score a large potato for each of us before we headed outside for mock battles and shoot-outs - Mom would have killed us if we littered her house with potato spuds! Remember how they'd "jam" when you didn't score a clean potato plug and you'd have to dig it out so you could reload? Lost many a shoot-out to digging out plugs... I had lots of "army men" and their accoutrements, too, but generally used rubber bands since I wasn't allowed any type of pellet weapon aside from those spud guns - I can still hit a small target all the across the room with a rubber band, as my SO's behind can testify! (Did I really just write that???)
John

Try re-downloading it. If you get the same problem download one of the free archiver’s such as 7-Zip or J-Zip and try one of those. (I've had problems using WinRAR at times). Changing to a different archiver has always worked unless the zip file is corrupt. That said, the downloads from the giveaway servers are okay, so it could be a problem with your download client. This is the first shooter game that I have downloaded. I thought since I've never played one and this was supposed to be simple, I might be a good judge.

I will have to say that he was right. I never considered myself to be very good at this type of game back when we plugged a joystick into a commador 64. So when I have achieved all of the badges by level 2, we can safely say that this is easy.

But that doesn't mean that the premise isn't clever and that the graphics aren't well though out. This is a slick little game with the type of price that parents would be willing to pay for a simple game for children.

I don't think I'm going to keep the game (due to personal preference), but this is still a game worthy to be in the marketplace.

My one criticism is the website. It really needs a little rework to make it more appealing. I wish that just the quality of a game would speak for itself, but there has to be a little razzle, dazzle to bring your casual game player or parents who know very little about computer games and want something to amuse their child.

Playability - check, with a qualification that this is for a much younger crowd

Target market - children

Price - very reasonable

downloaded ok on Vista, dual core processor 2.1 GHz

Ha ha ha Whiterabbit you are simply amazing! Your short account (segaton gun etc.) made me really go back in time :)

I did not find today's game particularly interesting but I take this opportunity to ask here if somebody could kindly recommend a nice "3 pairs of matching cards/images" game.

In other words the ones where the cards are laid out face-down and the mission is to turn them over and find 3 pairs of matching cards/images.

Thanks in advance for any recommendation and happy weekend to everyone :)

Hi Eugene

Oh to be a child again, lol. I loved my potato gun, spending hours playing 'Japs and Commandos' or 'Cowboys and Indians', (please don't take offence at the shorthand) lol. I also used to have a gun which I think was called a segaton gun that fired silver and gold colored pellets. you could load up around 50 pellets at a time in the top loading chamber then fire away as the mechanism was self loading. I used to set up my 'HO' scale soldiers (hundreds of them at a time), with two opposing forces then randomly shoot in the general direction of each army. It would sometimes take me hours to create a scenario only to destroy it in a few momnts (I also used to make gun powder (using Potassium chlorate rather than nitrate as the local shop wouldn't sell me the nitrate form). I also discovered that Potassium Permanganate was a reasonable substitute for the oxygen giver, but you'd get a slow burning gun powder because oxygen output was reduced. That was more spectacular to a child of 9/10 years old :) I got the recipes for the real gun powder (C, S and KNO3) from a Boys Own manual which would be banned today - please note I've not quoted the proportions), :D lol.

anyway, I recommend that you check out MyPlaycity and other free games sites like Gametop. you will find some free card games there that are usually sold on other sites. do watch out when you install them tohugh; that is make sure all check boxes are unchecked, then you'll get a game with no hidden extras. Also try googling Download card games. Zylom have loads of them, though the name rings bells in my head with respect to tool bars again.

Don't see why younger children shouldn't be allowed to play this one, it's in a harmless context. We were allowed water pistols, imitation Wild West pistols/rifles with caps and potato guns at quite a young age and it never did me any harm, in fact we had a lot of fun! The game today looks great fun all-round! :)

I agree Sparkles, but some parents are quite strict on such matters so I have to cover myself. ;-)

b.t.w. so was I, I loved my potato gun. I also had one of those guns that you loaded up with gold and silver coloured and rounded pellets. I used to use it to shoot my soldiers. I'd set up a massive battle in the dining room with hundreds of those little HO scale soldiers then use the gun to shoot pellets at the enemy, which at that time (back in the 60's was the German army (sorry guys, I was just a kid and influeneced by films of the time). You could load up arund 50 pellets at a time and they loaded up automatically. I think the gun was called a segaton gun??? does anyone remember them?

To all who downloaded last weeks 4 Elements and had a problem with the profiles not accepting certain letters and not saving. GMMan found a fix which you can find by following the link below:

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average between 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you’ve checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain why your reasons for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with a levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen

Problems installing or activating:l>

If you have difficulty downloading or activating the game you can try again later or do one of the following - for example once downloaded when you click on the dual activation and set up file you may get the message “Failed to connect. Please try again later” If this happens go check out previous comments from the last several weeks and look for comments from GMMan, Mike and Mr Snoozles. They have all posted possible fixes for this problem. I’ve always tried re-booting my modem and/or router with some success, though Mike has said that doing that does nothing. Still, it’s worth a try if all else fails.

I will be posting a FAQ’s in the forums soon that will cover problems when installing game giveaways in the mean-time its easy enough to search through the comments from previous giveaways. I did post GMMans fix over in the forums last week so that shouldn’t be too hard to find (I’ll link to it later once I’ve finished sorting some jobs out. :)

BEE Adventure Gamel> : 70MB

Today’s game giveaway is Bee Adventure, a vertical scrolling shooting game set in a cutesy cartoon world. This is probably aimed at children, though adults may like the game play too.

The 70MB zip file unpacks to a read me and a duel set up and activation module, which for newcomers means just click and install. The game will automatically be registered. The installed game is approximately 148MB in size. Shortcuts are installed to both the desktop and the start menu/programs list as well as an uninstaller in the Start menu programs list.

If you miss today’s giveaway you can download this game 24/7 from MyPlayCity. If you've never downloaded from sites like MyPlayCity, watch out for the check-boxes that tell you toolbars and home page hijacks may be installed if you don't un-check the boxes; that said I did install the MPC version to assess this game and found that there aren't any to worry about. Also your internet browser will open on closing the game, but this is totally innocuous and gives you the oppertunity to see what new games MyPlayCity have acquired for you to download free. They have hundreds of excellent games that are usually sold elsewhere.

If you want to see what the game entails before you download it you can see a video of the game play HERE

The Gamel>

Trouble. The hurricane destroyed the hive. All the bees are busy and restoring the hive but without honey they won't survive and they chose the most courageous and fastest bees to collect honey. You're one of those bees! Pollinate grey flowers restoring their colour and collect honey bonus points from the targets above the flowers. Collect additional honey from sunflowers, apples and wild strawberries.

PicDepict.com

The more honey you collect the faster the hive will be restored. When you have finished each level you can see how much the beehive has been restored and how much honey you have gathered. To pollinate the flowers use the pollen gun. Just shoot the grey flowers and they will pollinate, but that's not all. The more honey you collect the more powerful your pollen gun will become. And you will be able to pollinate the flowers with a single shot!

PicDepict.com

When you have finished each level you can see just how powerful your pollen gun is. Pollen in the basic pollen gun (in the left hand of the bees) - is infinite but for the enhanced pollen gun (in the right hand of the bees) you must collect special bonuses. These bonuses are located above some of the mushrooms.

PicDepict.com

Various insects will interfere with your honey gathering trying to pollute your collection with poisonous pollen. In case of contact with the poisonous pollen you lose a small portion of the collected honey. The more the insects sting you the less honey you will bring to the hive. Be careful! Also some honey is lost when coming into contact with cobwebs and poisonous mushrooms and plants as well as with the aggressive insect pests. Some insects can even destroy flowers! Destroyed flowers cannot make honey.

Use your pollen gun against aggressive insects and poisonous plants! After a few hits those insects will fall asleep or will fly away in fear and the poisonous plants will be destroyed and will not cause any harm. After falling asleep some insects may emit pollen for your enhanced pollen gun. Do not forget to collect it!

For outstanding achievements in the game you will receive a gold medal: "Expert Shot", "Best Honey Collector" and "Best Pollinator". Forward! On to the honey!

Conclusionl>:

A simple shooting game with bright cartoon like graphics. This is basically a shooter with a different theme from your usual space shooter theme.

There’s nothing special about the game, but if you like shooters this should be okay. Personally I found it a little tedious, but I reckon it will be liked by 8 to 10 year olds and maybe younger if parents are liberal enough to allow a youngster to play shooting games.

for me the first level dragged on and on. I'd attained maximum amount of honey collection well before the level finished.

What would improve this game would be difficulty levels, with different speeds. It was too slow so it was easy to collect all honey from the flowers and was also easy to avoid enemy insects fire and to stop snails from attacking flowers.

I'd also consider enabling the user to change the music easily. It can be done by going into the data folder and exchanging the appropriate files with ones of your own. You will need to convert the music you replace to the ogg format (which can be done with a free audio converter such as Audacity) and change the name to the files you are replacing.

You can find the sound files in the following path:

C:>Program files(x86)>Bee Adventure>Data>Sound (64bit machines)

C:>Program files>Bee Adventure>Data>Sound (32bit machines)

Scoringl>:

Game play - 7
Graphics - 7
Audio - 6
Re-playability - 6
Originality – 6

Total = 6.4 out of 10
