Retro Wave Race is a game in the genre of arcade racing.

This game is based on the well-known Battle City game, which is loved by many gamers, with some 3D technologies involved.

The game's goal is to fight your enemies in the arena, driving your tank and defending your base from annihilation.

There are several obstacles in the arena which can be very useful for you in battle. But on the other hand, they can also hinder you. Dofferent Bonus items, giving you various opportunities, appear in the arena from time to time: you can blow up your enemy`s tank, you can stop your enemy`s tank, you can modernize your tank, etc.

Once all the enemy`s tanks are destroyed you can go to another arena, and so on until you become a winner in all arenas.

Two users can also play the game from one computer. In this case, two tanks will appear in the arena, and both users will be able to defend the base and destroy the enemies together.

Thanks, but my Windows doesn't like it. It didn't even manage to show itself - some bug crashed it every time I started it.

comment #58. The download size would be problematic with such games. You'll notice most games given away are only several Mb. Most of the games you mentioned are into the hundreds. Maybe if and when Giveawayoftheday expand and have many more mirror downloads then we may see these bigger games, as you can get a lot of the ones over a year old for the same price as most of these arcade games that I think are overpriced.

As for this game. It's okay, although I prefer tank o box with much better graphics and gameplay. This is okay if you're into retro games. It seems like a cross between a pacman, jezzball and a shooter game, which is quite an achievemnet really. I'll keep this one as I've only got three or four other tank games; although I prefer the tanks in Battlefield 2. :)

Thanks GGAotD and Elefun Multimedia

This game is somewhat like another one I play, check out www.battlecity.net for a free online 2d tank game where you build and destroy cities.

As was posted about another game, it would be preferable if controls moved out of the 1980's 'arrows' to allow mouse/trackball control. The graphics are Atari quality. The combination would allow me to give it at most a '5' out of 10. Thanks.

Highly doubt it, #58. Those games are already widely known. The only games you'll see here are ones that are unknown.

Thanks GOTD and EleFun! And thanks to all those with advice on fixing the upside-down issue. I was playing this game standing on my head, and every time I tried to move my tank I'd tip over. Couldn't get past Level 1 and I was scaring the hell out of my cat.

I know NWN and Half-Life are still really big sellers, despite being older and having sequels. We probably won't. I hope we get OLD games like the Commander Keen games, packaged with DOSBox and a frontend. 3D Realms could probably be convinced.

Are we ever gonna get games like Siberia,NeverWinter Nights,Half-Life
etc? Not that I don't like the games on offer, but just wishful thinking I suppose.......

Wow, i immediately remembered this game. Used to play it with my uncle some 15 years ago on Atari system.

Nice remake and although it has 2 player mode they could update it slightly and add in LAN support at least.

Just an addendum to my last note:

I couldn't help myself and thought I'd try the game one more time :/ You know .. "curiosity killed the silly swan .. " ;) This time my screen resolution is really screwed. I checked my resolution setting and it still shows as 1024 x 768 (which is normal for my system.)

I had no other windows open and I even began the game in window mode "just in case."

I wonder if everything will go back to normal when I install it.

1. Downloaded and installed OK.
2. I was totally unable to run this game. Crushes every time. May be, some hardware conflict? Bad driver version? I don't know.

The only thing good about this game is the Uninstall option. This game would actually cost you money? OMG, Thank goodness for the free download, I would have been disappointed to spend money on this crap game.

14.95....HAHAHAHHAH!!! Now that's just pitiful. I don't know what else to say besides, God Bless America.

Hello everyone! ;)

Even with all the negative comments, I decided to download the game anyway. Activation and installation was a breeze.

I normally have my screen set to 1024 x768, which I think prevented me from experiencing the same monitor problems as others have reported.

BUT - At the end of each game, it goes directly to the 'high scores' screen - and stays there. I can't find any way to exit the screen OR the game and have to resort to the task manager to close the game down.

This has happened 3 times so far.

I'll keep it installed to see if anyone comes up with a solution to this particular issue today - if not, I'll be uninstalling it.

I am curious as to why the developers weren't able to pick up on these problems before release. :/

Thank you to Elefun Multimedia for their 2nd offer with GOTD, I'm still enjoying the first one - Musikapa.

Thanks again to GOTD for offering other games that have no issues. :)

Well First I remember this game, I used to play it often for hours before I went to bed....I am really glad to see a free 3d version of this game.

First, I have not had any problems with the upside down screen...Perhaps that is because I am running a newer video card that might support some feature the game is using. However, when I went to window mode the game locked and mouse disappeared.

Overall I think this is a good game that needs some bugfix work done on it.

Hey #30, you may think we're trying to be funny, but I can assure you my whole desktop turned over the minute the game started. To fix it, just select windowed mode within options and select the highest resolution your screen can handle. Anyway, Great Game! Thanks GGOTD.

This is one of the worst games offered here in my opinion. They should have little specifications on the age the games are directed for. Sure, some adults like these games I know, but it doesn't change the fact that some don't.

None of the games offered here even have an ESRB rating, which makes me doubt the maker's intelligence and time put into making it. This one looks like it took the maker a couple hours to make, at the most.

Still, I like GiveAwayoftheDay, they've gotta satisfy everyone at some point. (I liked the RIP 1-3)

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, I have to rate this game a 2 . Graphics are like legos. The only keys you use are the arrows and spacebar, so gameplay is limited. I do realize that this IS only a 15$ game, but for just 30$ you can get Guild Wars or World of Warcraft. Sure they both require decent computers, not high end at all though. WoW ran on a 64mb PCI intel Graphics controller on my old dell. Guild Wars wouldn't even start up.

Anyhow! thanks for this giveaway. The best feature was a quick and successful uninstall, be back tomorrow :)

First time I've had a problem with any of the games here. I had the flipped screen (CTRL+ALT+UP arrow to fix), then it didn't switch my screen back to its original resolution when I closed it out. This one's not for me. Thanks, though.

I just played it and I don't really like it.

When I saw the screenshots I expected you'd be with some other tanks and it would be a free-for-all with all tanks having a base. Unfortunately, it seems to be alot different than that :(

You guys are SO funny! I think I'd have a heart attack if my desktop turned upside down, and I hate to think what else might be going on that you guys haven't caught yet, so maybe I'll pass on this one, or wait until later in the day so I can hear if there's anything else.

#20 - my productivity rate has gone WAY down in the last 2 weeks, between Brave Dwarves, Brickshooter, and Atlantis Quest - I don't even have enough time to play all these great games, much less do what needs to get done.

#29 - right click on your desktop, left click on properties, click on
settings, and then change your screen resolution back to what it used to be - very annoying, because now all your desktop icons will be in different places.
