I totally LOVED this game! The graphics are great, and the game play is fun. I have to admit that I blew an entire day playing this nonstop. Ugh! But, I enjoyed every minute of it! Thank you! :)

Hi, Stephen. I hope you're still reading this thread.

I said in my last comment that I'd copied an older copy of OpenAL32.dll into my c:\Program Files (x386)\Playrix Entertainment\Barn Yarn. I said that it worked.

Well, it turns out that it stopped crashing, but I had no sound. I finally (today, 8/25) got back into researching and found the newest OpenAL32.dll on http://fix4dll.com/download?file=openal32.dll&md5=591E0C184BEAF7E7C56A05BEFFD5974D, which fixed my problem for real.

Either the file that came with the program was corrupted during download, or the one I found was newer. I've had a number of problems since I upgraded to Windows 10, so I never know if it's Win10 or the app or a combination. I hope this helps others who might have had this problem.

Thanks for all you do.

It's really good to see this recent run of Playrix hidden-object games (HOGs). For a good while were were getting such dreary, dark themed HOGs and it's nice to have something a little upbeat, even if it is a bit on the cartoonish side. The music's pleasant and the game's kind of fun, and I must say that coming to this site has taught me to appreciate HOGs in small doses. :)

Thanks, faithful Playrix and GGOTD!

Thank you for this fun little game. I've always enjoyed the Gardenscapes games, so I downloaded this one. Only had time to play the first level, but looking forward to more later. Downloaded super fast and with no problems at all to my Win 10 pc. Thank you for another winner Whiterabbit and GGAOTD!

Very similar artwork/setting to Farmscapes (Match 3) but a different Hidden Object style. I had to override Norton warnings to install. Plays well on Windows7 64bit. Playrix is a welcome and reliable contributor to this wonderful site.

Thanks WR - great to see you up and running again. Best to you.

Somewhere during playing the game, I ran into a Playrix popup ad inviting you to visit their site for a free game. Turns out just the demo was free, and you had to pay for it. I went back to playing the game. I hope this won't be a regular thing with Playrix games, otherwise I'll stop downloading them. By the way, I called the "mutt" in my game, Sarah Palin. I found it rather amusing seeing the boy and grandpa calling her. Just having fun folks, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. LOL

Barn Yarn is an excellent game! It is the most interesting and entertaining hidden - object game I've played. There's lots of color and animation, and lots of humor too. The game installed on my Win 7 32 system without any problems, and it runs perfectly. I'll keep playing 'til I've got that old barn fixed!

Usually the install path does show up but this time it skips over that part of the install. I have checked that folder and the game is not there. I have searched everywhere that past games have been installed. The game is nowhere.

.............................Moderator comment............................................

Have you tried reinstalling the game? Try changing the instal path to for example C:\Games\Barn Yarn

Great game! Graphics are excellent, HOs are not too easy but not impossible to see, as with some games. Not as hectic as yesterdays' offering and good for a short or longer session. Downloaded beautifully and installed its own shortcut. This is definitely a keeper.
It also reminded me of Royal Envoy (sneaky little ad!), which I bought ages ago. Loved that game too and will find it & play it next. Thanks to Playrix, GGOTD and Stephen for this one!

I had the same thing happen. This is the first time that I've had trouble installing from this website. I searched for the game and it doesn't appear. There is nothing that shows the install path from what I can see although I would love to know if I'm missing something.

..........................Moderator Comment..................................

The install path is show when you first start up the installer. I've included the instal path in the installation section of my review above:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\Barn Yarn

Sorry. I got it to work based on the suggestion above to disable AVG. I don't like having to do that, but it worked.

.........................Moderator Comment................................

Glad you got it to work. AVG and Norton are sensitive to the gcd file which is Themida based and is often seen as a threat. The gcd file was added to protect the wrapper from community members ripping the game off; unfortunately it sometimes causes some malware suites to block the games. The only option then is to temporarily disable the protection till the game has been installed.

Running 64-bit Windows 7 HP -- anything Playrix-related (the commercial on closing, the bonus points) hangs my system with manual shutdown and re-start the only way to recover. Game plays fine other than that.

Hi again,

I wanted to mention a few other aspects that are appreciated: It's fun to read the different articles in the newspapers, I like that I collect customers' payments by just swiping over the coins instead of having to click on them, and I enjoy seeing various other characters and symbols from other Playrix games. I'm not sure about being invited to go to other games (Royal Envoy, Gardenscapes) which I have not tried yet but apparently it cannot be done if I'm not connected to the internet.

Hi Cara. In a way, this game DOES have a timer. The customers lose patience after you have looked for their items for a while and eventually the price that they are willing to pay begins to drop. So, the quicker you find their item, the more they will pay and vice versa (which ever way you want to look at it). It's a nice twist and less stressful than a regular timer. Pat

Ok Windows 10 x64 Pro and game crashes a few minutes into the Intro (non-play part). So used the icon set to Compatibility mode Windows 7 and plays right through into game. Maybe if Skip intro Win 10 works but figure why take chance. Sweet little game, much like original with sense of humor intact. Fine graphics, sliders, full screen, custom cursor, even Relaxed mode. Worth it, for fans 9/10.

Good game, install was no problem, and it did place a desktop shortcut for me. I prefer the basic HOG games over the complicated IHOGs that are prevalent these days, so it is refreshing to get to play these. Also downloaded and enjoyed the previous GGOTD from a few weeks ago, and enjoyed that as well. I appreciate the ability to "skip" some of the dialog, and the option to enter the dog's name is rather unique. If you like the true HOG style, somewhat whimsical in nature. grab this while you can. I'm glad I did.

Hi Stephen,

Downloaded without problem and have played a bit. I notice that there doesn't seem to be a timer (or maybe I just haven't noticed it yet) and there is also a casual mode option. I like trying to beat the clock on HOGs. I also like the magnet hint better than the thermometer in Gardenscapes. I agree with above comment that having different options for decorating gives the game replayability. Farmer Joe is a little impatient when I am looking around instead of playing another round. Personally, I like Austin from Gardenscapes more. Thanks to Playrix, GGOTD and you for this great game (I gave it thumbs up even before downloading).

I concur with Mavadelo. I have not downloaded yet but am going to do so. It is Giveaway of the Day - positive! It is Playrix - positive! It is Hidden Object - positive! By the way, so many people complain about included music files in some GOTD games - just turn it off. My volume is almost always off on games because my computer is right next to the family room TV and most of time I am watching something while playing or other people are. Problem solved, You can thank me later, gold is appreciated as a reward - LOL!

I have commented twice previously, unfortunately it must be too late in the Giveaway for that week so I haven't had a response... Anyway, I have looked in the forums here and elsewhere, etc for a fix for this problem and no one else seems to mention it - maybe I am just a very odd duck! Here it is: The last 4-5 giveaways, I have been unable to open/install what my computer (running Win7) calls a "GCD" file. All fixes that I have tried from various sites and downloads don't work. I am very very sad that I can't seem to fix this issue, as I have been a lover of GGOTD since its inception...I love you guys and miss d/l your wonderful games. I just don't get why I am having this problem suddenly, after years and years of easy, quick, safe and awesome downloading. The message I get is: "Windows can't open this file". Please help if you can.

..............................Modrator Comment........................................

Hi Susan, you shouldn't be able to open the gcd file. That is a secirity file to prevent community members from ripping off the games. To install todays game click on the orange set up file ( the one with the key symbol). That should enable the game to install.

I love these games - I'm a great fan of HOGs, but not usually of games that require fast moving. However, these remind me of playing the Little Memories etc series and the Fishdom H2O Game - it doesn't really matter if you aren't that quick, but if can help your reflexes to practise them in order to achieve more points etc.

I like the way you can choose what to enhance the background with, and the characters are fun.

I think it's a great game to have fun playing - I agree that it's probably best in bite-size chunks, and I'd think it would be a good game to introduce children to.

No problem installing and using on Windows 10.

I liked being able to adjust the Sound, Environment and Music. I definitely wanted the Relaxed Mode.

I loved the Butterflies, Light Bulbs and Magnets. They add to the interest level of the game.

Overall, the game is very detailed. The graphics are sharp and well done. All is what I expected from Playrix.

The opportunity to get 1000 coins to play Royal Envoy 2 is a little devilish since I didn't have enough money to make the next purchase in the next screen. :-) I opted not to play the game this time. I loved the countdown in the upper left hand corner. I was too into Barn Yarn to stop playing at the time.

The ringing alarm got my attention with a smile. The pounding of the nails got a smile also.

I finally used a butterfly (unfortunately it was out of necessity), and I liked how specific it was.

I turned the hints off, which is a nice feature, but the game continued to give hints.

I gave Barn Yarn a thumbs up. As you can tell, I fell in love with the game. I really enjoy this style of HOGs. It is very relaxing and helps me to focus.

Thanks Playrix for offering another fabulous game. GGOTD, great as always.

I had the same problem. It seems that if you have avast or AVG Free you need to disable your virus protection long enough to install then put your virus protection back on. Helped me see if it helps you.

Worth a shot since seems to have a twist or two on old HOG theme. Yes I may bomb out on it if too much same old but what the heck just might have enough extra diff to stick with it. Just the concept of selling items is bit novel. Maybe some other freshness along the way, graphics look good that way too. Thanks GOTD for rainy day fun.

I didn't download this game because I already own it. I don't usually care for HOGs as a general rule, but I have the others so thought what the heck. I enjoyed finding things for customers and I really enjoy fixing up the house. Since you have 3 options for most things, that is where the replayability comes in. You can fix up the house in hundreds of combinations. If you like easy HOGs with an interesting storyline, you'll most likely enjoy this game. And if you don't, give it a try anyway....you may be surprised, as I was.

Not come across this problem before. The error message is related to Open AL. Try reinstalling the game. If that doesn't work, try updating your sound drivers.

I LOVE this game. I downloaded Farmscapes from here a long time ago and it's my absolute favorite. Barn Yarn was about to come out and I had just replaced a hard drive so I'd lost my beloved farmscapes. I have an account with BigFish so I went there and when this came out I bought them both. Farmscapes is a game with near endless playability like Fishdom. Do confuse it with Barn Yarn. Barn Yarn has no match 3 games. It is HOG after HOG after HOG. Not to say that it is aa bad game, but it gets tedious like Gardenscape. The story line is thin and it launches the same type of HOG over and over. Gave it a thumb up knowing full well I might abandon this game half way through.

My installation went a little differently. I got two icons placed on my desktop and an entry in my start menu. One other thing, for me your new scoring system did not have any values. Only categories. I am using XP SP2. This looks to be a fun game if you enjoy this type of gaming. I want to say thank you to the GGOTD team, the moderator, and Playrix Entertainment.
