I installed this game on my laptop with a 256mb dedicated vid card and suddenly my laptop screeched to a halt. Even when I wasn't playing the game. I don't know if I trust Alawar games anymore?

It's speculation at this point...but I wanted to put it out there.

Although this game was enjoyable, I don't seem to enjoy it as much as MagicBall 3D. In this game the "3D" objects appear to be 3D, but don't seem to behave like 3D. I think I am trying to compare this game to MagicBall 3D where the blocks will actually fall and the physics looks and feels real.

This game is a bit more difficult than MagicBall, but not terribly difficult. I find it difficult to understand what the powerups do by looking at them. I'm glad they put text descriptions. I just associate the action with the poorly done graphic.

I also don't feel the graphics are as good as they could be for a 3D Arkanoid clone. In today's computing age, if you make something 3D it had better have some eye-popping 3D. This one doesn't do that for me. I was let down with the graphics quality.

All that said, it was enjoyable for a while. It's worth a try to see if you liked it better than I did.

I usually love these breakout makeovers, but this is a different developer from either Magic Ball 3 or Aquaball and it shows. Poor graphics--it's hard to tell what the power-ups even ARE--it's no wonder they added text comments to tell you.

Very disappointing.

I also got this one 1st. time around and kept it. You can expect the usual Alawar quality. Several options & can mouse friendly.
Try it for 4-5 levels & you'll see this is "not your mother's Break-out". Waves of pink elephants, varied geography and scenery.
It's a keeper for my libary. "Thumbs-up" !

Memory Violation error here also on Vista. 31 I don't think that it is people doing something wrong, I think maybe it is hardware conflicts between the game and the OS. Some people are having problems and others are not. I have installed many games from Alawar here and this is the first time I have had this problem.

It's a nice game with many varied backgrounds. I think Magic Ball 3 and Aqua ball are tough acts to follow, but this one comes in a close third. There's a lot going on in this game which makes it a little more challenging to play. Thanks GGOTD for the giveaway, and Alawar for your generosity.

Thanks Alawar and GAOTD for another great game. I am not a fan of the breakout style games so I don't think I will play it much but I had to give it a try. Download, activation and set-up all went well. The game seems to run well and sound is good although I usually turn the music down. Keep up the good work GAOTD!!

GGAOTD and GAOTD DO NOT giveaway trial versions of games and software. EVERY giveaway comes with a README file that tells you how to activate to full version. If you install and get a trial version then that means YOU ARE NOT READING YOUR README FILE AND ARE NOT ACTIVATING IT CORRECTLY!! Read EVERY readme file in EVERY download and do what it tells you to do to activate that days giveaway.
It's as simple as that!

Once again, AlaWar comes threw. Thank you very much, AlaWar & GGAOTD. One thing is for certain, Alawar is not a greedy company, and they have good games. I just started this game a short time ago and I can't get threw level or world 3 Lol. This game is a little harder then I am use to.
Tell ya what, I am in my 40's and like these Alawar games. Some may argue these are kids games. I really don't mind as I have a good time playing AlaWar games. Keep em coming, AlaWar & GGAOTD.I like em.
Graphics are nice as always. Music is good. Overall, I give this game a 9 out of 10.
Keep up the great work, AlaWar & GGAOTD.
One small side note aside from this game. Seems as though day after day after day, I see people come here and complain about any of the software given away on this site being a limited demo. It's simply not true.
What it comes down to is operator error. If people would just read the READ ME FILE !!! When you unzip the file and see a ACTIVATE !! That should be your first clue. Click that first to activate it before one installs it. It's really that simple.
GGAOTD. does not include this file for the sake of just throwing in extra stuff not needed.
People, people, people, just read instead of being all click happy and the demo issue will disappear.
Simple really.
But ! no matter how many times this gets posted about the activation first before the exe file for the game seems to go straight over some peoples heads.

As I loved MagicBall 3, I installed this. I didn't think it was as good as MB3--the chief problem was that the game area seemed uncomfortably shallow--but it is still an excellent game with good graphics and sound effects. So even if you're not an arkanoid fan (which I'm not) I think you'll enjoy this game. 8/10.

Again, an easy install. Graphics are great. Game worked fine with Vista. Played game for about 10 minutes. It is fun, although not my favorite type of game. Probably would't purchase, but will keep and play occassionally. My grandson will probably like it when he comes to visit. Thank you GAOTD!

#19 - that's not the answer - it is something very odd about Vista and the machine it is running on. I have several programs that will not run on my desktop but run quite happily on my laptop. When I have had problems with Vista a reinstall clears some problems and creates others! Vista, I'm afraid, is a bodged operating system!

I stated yesterday with that game that if you are running Vista you can elect to run these games in XP. Before you install the exe portion right click on the icon, and click on properties. On the top of the box that comes up click on compatability, set it for XP or whichever earlier version of windows you wish. Click apply and OK then install the program. I have been doing that with all of the Alawar games I have downloaded from here and they work great. It is worth a try.

I don't think I would pay $19.95. I would pay $10.00 for it though.
I did enjoy the game play but not the graphics. I did like the feature of the mouse ball (very cute). It was nice to get a change of music throughout the game. I give this game a 8 out of ten. Would be fun for kids as well as Adults.

Installation is a breeze, with the usual activate and set up modules (those new to the game giveaway project please activate the game first then set it up) and for those with dial up, this is a steal at under 8Mb.

This is one of those Arkanoids I'd recommend anyone buys if they wanted more than a few of this genre. Not withstanding most would think Magic Ball 3 (MB3) would take the crown with respect to playability, and graphic. I personally think this game is much more challenging. In fact, it’s probably one of the most challenging of the 3D arkanoids due to the fact that it has faster ball speeds than most. With that in mind it’s a definite must have for your arkanoid fan, and for those who are into most arcade games a worthwhile download

Read comment #25 by Keilaron from the last time this was given away for some details about this game by following the link below:

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/neoball/#comments

Apart from the faster ball speeds which makes this game a little more difficult to play compared to other 3D arkanoids (I always separate the 3D from the 2D because they play differently) the game also has some original power ups such as the mouse power up, which apart from changing the ball into a mouse also adds an extra life to the ball in play. There’s also the jumping ball; which, although not of much benefit, does increase the difficulty of the game, and the unusual shapes the playing arena comes in also adds to the general interest this particular game exudes. No two arenas seem the same. (I’m writing this off the top of my head, so may be wrong there as I’ve not played it for a while). The themes are also excellent graphically, although compared to MB3 are looking a little dated; but still very cool IMO.

The game is mouse controlled, and you will require at least some 3D rendering and direct X for this game to work, so if you have problems, it could be that this may be the cause; although unless your computer is old, and you’re running an OS older than XP this shouldn’t arise as all computers since the millennium will have on board 3D emulation and XP comes packaged with DX9. If you’re running XP on an older system you can check your 3D status by going to the start menu and typing dxdiag in the run command and clicking on the display tab. You can see what sort of emulation, if any you have from this tab. If you are running an older OS you can download DX9 from the following link:

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html

Ensure your pop up blocker is switch on though. You can also get tDX9 from Microsoft if you want to avoid a site that allows pop ups. (don’t bother downloading DX10 as it’s for Vista and the latest games being released)

Please check out the following screenshots of the game by following the link below:

http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=Neoball+game&gbv=2&ndsp=20...

Despite having bought many 3D arkanoids since purchasing this one I’d still buy it if I had to, so it’s got to be worth an 8 out of 10 (which is my criteria for buying this) however that’s a biased figure as arkanoids of both types are still my number one favourite genre. However I’d still have to give it 8 out of 10 despite this because I think the game has a lot of originality, quirkiness and replayability. I’ve started this game over several times, (every time I’ve rebuild my computers or bought a new one0, and I’ve always reinstalled this one which I couldn’t say for some games, including Magic Ball 2 and most freeware games. My advice, download it now before you lose the chance to get it free.

Thank you Alawar and the Game giveaway team; this is a worthy repeat.

It is truly 3D, it is like a very early version of MagicBall 3(Which is just awesome). It is surprisingly fun, I wasn't too sure about it at first as it is a little simple looking, but the music is nice enough and the longer I played the more I wanted to see what was on the next level. It has 80 levels, mouse driven and you can pick your resolution and play windowed or full screened. If you like arkanoid games it is certainly worth the D/L(if nothing else to see the ball when it turns into a mouse and waddle along). Different! Almost like a toy, it's fun to twist the playing field around.

Pretty cool game, though kind of annoying how it 'traps' your mouse so that you can't really minimize it unless you go to the main menu. And it's 'always on top'.

But, other than that, game play is pretty nice. Good for wasting a few minutes at a time with, at least, though I don't think I'd want to play it for hours every day.

We have been spoiled by the GREAT games that were offered here lately! Thanks GGOTD
This one is not top of the bill for me, though. I'm a fan of this kind of 'ball - paddle games', but there's just too much going on in this one. Graphically it seems made for widescreens as on my normal screens it feels like 20 to 30% of the screen (at the top) is not really used, which makes the bottom overcrowded with all sorts of unclear bonuses that you should catch...
Again, I'm being very critical here, and yes we have been spoiled by better Alawar games. ;)

Is this truly 3D? Is gameplay on a single plane? I'm not motivated enough to download and find out for sure.

Most of the games that look like this screenshot are really 2D games with a 3D look.

I got this game last time it was given away. It is awesome! A very good challenge. Different than many other breakout games. If you like this genre, definitely give it a try. Even if you don't normally like these, at least try it out. The graphics are fun and engaging. Powerups are unique and sounds are great. Overall, I give it an 8. (I've played all the difficulty levels and finally beaten all but the hardest levels.)

Thanks, GGOTD & Alawar!!
