Doesn't work on Vista: sadly, this is happening quite often with the give away games :(

As I said before, this game does NOT install. You have to unzip it and it extracts to the directory of your choice. Once you are tired of the game you have to move the ball7 folder into the recycling bin in order to remove it from your computer. For a bunch of "gamers" you people don't seem to know much about using your own computers...

Comment "20": You can also right click on ball7.exe found in C:\Games\Ball7 and select "Create Shortcut." This creates the file "Shortcut to ball7.exe" which can then be dragged to the desktop.

Comment "81": Both of these games did not create shortcuts to my desktop so it seemed that they had not been loaded. I found them in C:\Games .

#83 "Sam" is correct. Also - Watch GOTD software offers also. They have had offers of 2 "Uninstallers" recently that run faster & seem better than Windows remove program.
BTW - The game is still running well for me & keeping up past time for some sleep ! :-)

I loved the Arkanoid game from years ago and would of loved to play this one, however i had the same complaints/problems and issues as comments #30, 32, 44, 45, 49, 55, 59, 79 and 80.
It would not start up, we even tried it on a few other computers all ending up in the same result - no game play.

I'm an avid fan of breakout games and haven't played one since magic ball. This one was worth a try. Sure glad I did. The side ways paddling had me scrambling to use the brain and I found myself laughing at the trouble I had. Paddle movement was great. The only difficult I experienced was of my own. Thank you GGOTD

#80. I know what you mean staying up too late. But who can sleep after a few rounds of this.

And for those who want to "uninstall" it, just delete the directory containing the game's files, which is at "C:\Games\Ball7" by default.

This game has cool gameplay and graphics, but it runs poorly, and the paddle movement is sluggish and laggy, which ruins the whole game.

I had a problem installing the game. I wanted to unzip the program files in a different directory than the default. Unzip ran and said that 1779 files had be placed on my computer in the location that I had specified. And everything came to a halt. I moved to the specified directory and found only the program setup.exe file and a readme file. Where did setup put those 1779 files? The program is large (over 32 MB zipped). Expanded, I can only imagine how much space is being consumed. Not being too smart, I did the same thing again but I specified a directory on a second hard drive. Yep - Same results. Another 1779 files taking up space! Next move was to accept the default directory. Everything went very smoothly.

Being 60 years old I remember arcade games fondly. I chose the arcade play mode and had a great time playing this game.

The graphics are good, the colors work well with my tiring eyes, but the fonts are very fuzzy at my normal screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pix. The game played well. As others have said all of the movements were very smooth. I have already stayed up too late playing this silly game. One more round ....

Had the same problems/issues as comments #30, 32, 44, 45, 49, 55, and 59.

Felt like I was trying to download a DOS program on my NEW XP.

How the heck do I UNINSTALL this crappy program?

I am thankful for everything that this site gives us, (and I have been VERY happy with 3 of the many DoubleGames downloads that they have given), but this one just is not working for me! I am sorry, and I am no dipchit when it comes to computers, but this is a chitty program in my opinion.

Hey! How about some WORD GAMES? Something to get the ol' mind working?

Thanks for all you do GGOTD!

(Still want to know how to uninstall this one!)

Thanks to the previous reviews about the game I knew where to find & finish install. Right-click on folder game icon created a desktop short-cut. I find this a very interesting challenge from past "break-out" type games. I've only played a couple of levels and I can see there will be a learning curve change to game play. I expect to be playing this awhile.
Game maker needs to improve the install and give icon options to have a "finished" game. Looking past this fault, I'll give it a "thumbs-up".

#45, the game does not "install" it actually unzips into a directory. To "uninstall" it you simply move the directory into the recycling bin.

P.S. If you're a gamer, the first thing you need to do is get rid of Windows Vista. Nobody who knows what they're doing runs that OS...

Awesome game, best giveaway of the past week. I had a slow-mouse problem and fixed it by lowering the video quality to the second slowest, and now my mouse is flying thru the screen - it may have something to do with the ram used to display those pretty colors when you are in HD mode (#68). Thanks to GGOTD and merscom.com (and I recommend you all try Glyph, another merscom.com awesome game)

This is absolutely the best game that I have downloaded from GAOTD to date. The game is outrageous and very very fun. I love the different levels of difficulty and they are all challenging. I am grateful that GAOTD offers free stuff period, I just wish that the people who don't download the games but still choose to grip would get a hobby or get out once in awhile. If you don't like the games offered don't download them. Gripping about something you didn't get is ridiculous. GAOTD doesn't have to give anything away, I am just greatful that they think of us peps enough to even make the offer for free stuff. This is by far my favorite game from GAOTD yet!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

"I don’t know why it was ’sluggish’ for #16, but it was not sluggish at for me."
I have no idea either.

However, since it was the only software on my PC that reacted sluggish with my mouse movements; I wasn't going to waste my time troubleshootin' it. ;-)

This is a fun game, bright, nicely done graphics, good sounds and it plays smooth and fast on my system. It has options for screen resolution when you first start the game, but I think it is only full screen. Every level is really different and it is probably going to get trickier and harder as I get to higher levels. No problems with this one so far, thumbs up and thanks!

A very good arkanoid type game, with just enough variations on each level to make you want to see what would happen on the next level. My only complaint is the nag screen that comes up when starting the game to confirm screen resolution, why can't they have the option on installation and leave it at that?

Let me start out by saying, download this,NOW.

Presentation: A good looking menu, but it slacks in the area of originality, and the font on the "type in your name" part of making a profile is difficult to read. There are some 2 second load times between levels, its not instant, but they could of put in a loading screen or something. As you see the blank screen alot 7/10

Sound: another minor part of this game, theres little to no emphasis on the music, its much more of a background thing....as a 2 track soundtrack should be. Sounds good enough, itsn ot mind blowing, but it serves its purpose 7/10

Graphics: Nice clean blocks, although all of them are webplastic,I have no problem with it because theres a reason why people use webplastic a lot,it's clean. Particle effects are on par with something like jets 'n guns ...there very VERY pretty. background is nothing special, and its very subtle, wich I frankly have no problem with,it makes all the blocks a little more noticable on screen.
8/10

Gameplay: I'ts not your usual breakout game, there a ton of powerups, some of them new, some of the classics (multiball, gun)
Theres a variety of blocks in the game that is just otherwise unseen, there a ton of diffrent shapes and types. Again, lots of these are rather unusual and suprising,it just adds to the game originality.
Now the game focuses on the mechanic that you operate multiple paddles at one time. As mentioned in a review above, this comment isnt original, but part of this games charm is that its clean and very exact. Unfortunately, even for me,a hardcore gamer, this feuture was difficult to get used to. Im sadened that it didnt get implemented more subtely, but you will eventualy get used to it.
One of the great parts of the game is that the physics are great!!!!

FINALY!!! A breakout game where the main operative in gameplay is executed PERFECTLY!
the games physics are so great,I have yet to experiece one of those "wait a minute,But I was sure that it should of gone that way!" moments!
Not to mention that the collision is wonderful to,this works well with all the diffrent shaped blocks in the game.
There are two styles of physics to choose from, arcade mode being the more forgiving and casual, and realistic being more...realistic.
I suggest that you choose arcade.
gameplay score: 9/10 for lack of subtely introducing the multiple paddle mechanic.

Lasting apeal: No unlockables,But addicting gameplay and a hiscore list makes up for that. The mechanic of the "coffee break" style of play is nice to. 99 levels is also a nice touch :-D 8/10

NOTE: This game has a save game feuture,if you die your score resets, but you can continue from that level, even if you exit the game.

so overall: 8/10 (thats a rounded score of course) NOW GO DOWNOLAD THIS,NOW!!!!
thumbs up.

I downloaded and activated this one OK, but it locks up on the loading page. I deleted and re-downloaded to be sure it wasn't a corrupted download, but still had the same problem. It started by letting me select resolution (pixel dimentions) then went to the loading screen. After several minutes, it was obvious it wasn't going any further, and I aborted. This is Vista Home Premium system on an HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptop with core 2 duo processor, 2 meg RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce Ge7400 graphics card. Would love to try it out, but...

I downloaded this one immediately after seeing it's by the same folks who put out Glyph, which I love, and was not disappointed. Despite what a few others have said, it's not just your standard Breakout clone, this is the first one I've played that on some screens you play side to side instead of up and down, AND with a paddle on each side to boot! Kind of tricky when you've got three balls going on screen and they're both shooting off in opposite directions. :-O. Can't wait to see what some of the future boards have in store for me. :) It installed and plays just fine on both my XP system and my mother's Windows 98 system, but there IS a significant lag time in between screens while the next game board is loading on her PC. Something that does NOT happen on my PC, so I'm thinking it's "older PC syndrome" (I'm at 2.8 ghz/2gb RAM, whereas she's at 700mhz, 512mb RAM). Great game. Two thumbs up from me.

Once again, Merscom has taken an old concept and made it new - or at least created an interesting variation. Someone there thinks parallel to the rest of the world.

Breakouts are not my favorite type of game, but it is nice to see one that works differently.

(Still hopefully waiting for Glyph. :P )

Nice game, quite challenging and different from most other breakout type games. Definitely worth the download folks.

The Tank Commander game they also make (see graphic and also reference on their home page) looks interesting as well. However, the details page for that game is blank when you try to go to it from their web site. Hope to learn more about that one...and maybe...get it here on GOTD.

Thanks for this one though, it's pretty enjoyable! :)

This is a nice game. Not your everyday brick-buster, it has plenty of variations to challenge you and keep you interested. Definitely a keeper.

As Whiterabbit pointed out, the music can be can be changed to something less irritating if you have an audio converter. But then why would anyone who frequents GOTD have an audio converter?
HAH!!! GET IT? It's a subtle, sarcastic nod toward the mountain of audio converters that have been given away here. WOOT! POOT!

Pros: fluid motion(on my box)
Supports 1280x1024 rez
-
Cons: Doesn't remember the rez chosen on the last game
No keyboard entry for name(minor issue but annoying)
breaks my timewaster rule(many arkanoids now offer a power up with 3 or less bricks remaining to end level)
bricks themselves are pretty plain looking
"Quadranoid" style levels(When i want to play an arkanoid, i want to relax(No classic style of play offered)
"Pinball" bumpers are cool but just another time waster

Couldn't get it to run in Windows Vista (Home Premium), even in compatibility mode. Worse yet, the game comes with no uninstall routine. It does not appear in the Windows Uninstaller list, either. This lack of an uninstaller suggests to me very poor programming.

I was not happy with the "installation" process, which did not install, it just unzipped we211.tmp to a folder I specified. (It did create that folder, so that's a plus!) By not installing it did not create an icon on my desktop, nor an item in my start menu. I had to access the program by going through "Run".

Once the program launched I noticed right away that the mouse controls were sluggish (as mentioned above by JanW). I immediately went into "Options", but the only things changeable were volume for sound effects and music. Since I was already annoyed with the "music", I turned that down, but was unable to change mouse sensitivity.

I tried playing in "realistic" mode. Since there was no difficulty setting, I would assume that "normal" is the only way to play. I was quickly being eliminated due to very very very poor mouse control, so I thought I'd try the F12 Bosskey. That worked perfectly, shutting the program down immediately. From there I went directly to Windows Explorer and deleted the folder.

The graphics were good, but since the game is unplayable (at least for me) the graphics makes no difference. So I give this a "1" for unplayability.
