I quite like this game. I haven't noticed any bugs and it is rather beautiful.
Only thing I could suggest changing would be to have a voice that goes with the body. Not that the voice or the body are wrong, just that I cannot imagine that body (and style choices) with that voice.
But it is a minor point.

I downloaded this yesterday. Installed no problem. I began to play this and next thing I knew, I had been playing for 2 1/2 hours. Time went by. It is challenging enough for me. Actually had to use some of the clues at times. I just kept wanting to play once I started. Thank you for sharing this. It is now one of my favorite HOG's.

Sorry about being slow to review Autumn's Treasures, but I've only just played it. I have mixed feelings about the game.
I think the gameplay is above average for a HOG. I really like the idea of pursuing an adventure across the world to find hidden objects, and I found the absence of lists refreshing. The scenic graphics were excellent and very enjoyable. I was happy to move between linked locations to find hidden items, and thought the level of challenge in finding items was ideal. I could usually guess what to do with assembled objects, but when I couldn't, the journal in the lower right corner always gave clear instructions. Also, the game gives free hints if you linger for a minute, so I never felt frustrated with the HOG elements of the game. The embedded puzzles are too easy to offer any challenge, but at least they were not frustrating.
However, I agree with some of Stephen's criticisms. It's a shame that such a good game concept has been let down by dismal characters (and character graphics) and dreadful voice acting. Luckily the options menu allows you to switch off the full dialogue, but it would be far better if you could enjoy it instead.
Also, the storyline concerning Gramps' journal is empty and repetitive, and the "to be continued" ending is weak, so there's no sense of achievement in finishing it.
Nonetheless, I'm glad I played Autumn's Treasures. Thanks to Playrix and GGOTD for the giveaway, and to Stephen for his thought provoking review. :)
PS The game installs quickly and easily on Windows XP SP3.

Thanks again guys for another HOG - my favourite type of game. This one took almost an hour and a half to download, but my machine isn't the fastest either.
Nice game, good graphics but I finished it in about an hour. Pity there weren't a lot more levels, which I would have expected if I'd paid $20 for it.
But I'm happy overall - it will be a nice one for the grandkids to play too, not too hard for them. Keep 'em coming.

Hi Stephen, is this running for second continuous day then or is it just me?
...................Moderator Comment....................
Hi Colin, it could be the clock differences. some countries (well, at least the US and I think Canada) have changed their clocks by 1 hour. We in the Uk do it the last Saturday in the month so I think it's next weekend.
It shouldn't be running for two days.

I really enjoyed the way you have to collect several pieces instead of just one item. It makes the game last a little bit longer and keeps you thinking. The best feature has to be the way the cut scenes have speech. This made it much more enjoyable for my 5yr old who struggles to read but enjoys challenging games like this. Thanks.

I had no problem downloading it on my slow dial up connection using a download manager. Everything came up and I was able to open the file and install the game without any problems.
I had been on the fence when I saw the game in GameTop for 109 mb but when I read the great review from our fearless Whiterabbit and the others here and because I am a HOG and Match 3 addict, I decided to wait the 19 h it took to download the game.
Thanks for the game GGOTD. I cannot wait to see what you have tomorrow :).

Stephen, in reply to your reply (uhm) to my comment (#14) - sorry, this is NOT a free standing game. I moved it to another folder on the same computer for a second time (I had uninstalled it before the first move) and this time lost ALL the progress I had made. For me a "working" free standing game is one that keeps the state of the game intact, just like those that install by unzipping into the C:\Games folder (or any other of our choice). Will have to fiddle with it a bit to make it really free standing.

Ok Win 8 Pro x64. Makes shortcut (2), sliders for M&S. 2 window sizes w/ full screen. HOG will spin a second if click to often on a nothing spot. First hint free, further adds 5 mins to level (or game maybe). That's a cool method. Story unfolding nicely at start. Thought maybe was a clone of that prior Mayan ruins-pirate theme HOG, but so far seems to stand well on its own. Thanks a bunch. Oh was slowish d/l on cable but got there after 5 mins.

I'm a bit skeptical about this game... how old is this jade coin? If there's one thing I know about jade (which is quite a bit), any coin form of the stone will be incredibly fragile and will shatter easily. To suggest that it were ever used as a viable form of currency makes me seriously doubt the likelihood that these fictional events ever actually took place. Close, but no beef jerky.

I generally love HOG and Playrix games, but this one is boring, and most likely will be deleted after one time through. I usually enjoy games from Playrix, but this one falls short of their usual high standards:
Game play – 5
Graphics – 9
Audio – 6
Re-playability – 2
Originality – 9
31/50...not the worst game out there, but far from the best...play it and you be the judge...if you have any vision problems as I do,the game play will be tough which is why I gave it a 5 instead of the usual 7-8.
Installed on Windows XP computer, install was slower than with most games, but installed completely without any problems.Shortcuts created automatically(nice touch),game loads fast...this is a good game, but I've played better.

Well, you all KNOW what type game I DON'T LIKE by now. So, WHITE RABBIT, I decided to quit reading your review when I got to the line "it’s not much fun." That's ALL I needed to HEAR.
Gotta be HONEST, though. I downloaded "MURDER IN NEW YORK" from on of the "free" game sites and played it ALL THE WAY THROUGH. WOWOWOW! That was a first for me! I admittedly used the hint button more often than not, but I really wanted to know WHO KILLED THAT GIRL. So, I FINISHED the game!
FUN HOGs might grow on me. MAYBE. POSSIBLY. But you said "it’s not much fun." So, I won't even try.
I'm about halfway through "Alice's Magical Mahjong" from a couple weeks ago. It's FUN FUN FUN! I like it!

Hi Swamp Thing,
Personally I'd still try the game because one persons opinions are not going to be universal. It's a different HOG to most, so you may like it.

There is an uninstaller for this game, though it doesn't uninstall everything - leaves 117 files and 49 registry entries. Shortcuts are created in the Start Menu. The game does seem to be free standing - I copied it to another folder, uninstalled and it works from the new location (so far). There are simmilar problems as with a HOG given away a few weeks ago (don't remember the exact name) - you have to click precisely with the tip of the arrow on a point on an object to pick it up or it won't work and may make you lose a hint. If you click a few times without hitting the proper point (and you never know where exactly it is), the cursor makes a few circles. I like the free hint feature - mouse over an object whose pieces you are to find and a pop up will show with all of its' elements. Thumbs up from me despite some language errors in the game.
............................Moderator comment...................
Thanks Joe. Though the trick to finding out whether it's free standing is to install the copied folder to another computer. You can move any game from the giveaway to anywhere on the same computer and it will still work even if its not free standing. :)

I enjoy HOGs particularly and, although this isn't one of the best, it's fun to play and nicely put together. It's a pity our heroine looks as she does - I can't decide if it's bored or supercilious! - but that hardly matters. The graphics are good and the story fun if a little bit hackneyed. I guess lost people, archaeology, treasure seeking and the rest are all obvious choices for a HOG.
One point - on my (64-bit Windows 7) system this has happily installed shortcuts without my having to intervene and do it myself.

One of the features I liked in this quest is the absence of pure HO Scenes, those junkpiles that pop up in most games and make you find a multitude of useless, too often invisible, thingies in order to get the one useful item that you need in order to progress.
Here you search for fragments of useful objects only.
Another nice feature is the amount of tasks you have to perform. They are all interesting, even funny at times like what you need do in the Mayan Ruins, as one instance, and there are so many of them that you don't have time to get bored.
Tasks and object use are neither far-fetched either, nor the result of the figment of a developer's imagination; they all respond to logic; some of them, being quite unusual and not all that obvious, require good thinking and being creative.
The emphasis being placed essentially on actions, the number of puzzles is limited; all of them are simple, not overly tricky, yet enjoyable. The first minigame in Sri Lanka is good fun, the second original.
From Seattle to Boston via different countries through 9 long chapters, there are many locations to visit, each artistically hand-drawn, lively colored, at least equal in quality, if not superior, to the graphics of several recent releases.
The Jade Coin is an older game which offers enough inventiveness and challenge to compete with newer ones and provide many hours of enjoyment.
The one hour demo is not enough to truly appreciate this adventure as it gets better and better with every chapter. A 4.6/4.7 star game [rounded up to 5] that deserves to be played till the end

Hi. As a newbie (and essentially a non-gamer) i won't be too displeased with this (for a while...) But i did have a few little things: i would like to have help for what i needed it for (i can't remember if "skipping" ADDS or SUBTRACTS time (which is relative (no pun)) - so i will have to restart to learn this factor. And although i plan to restart anyway, i don't feel a smoothness in the play - iow i'm not 'comfortable' (if that makes any sense?)
Yes, as i think @1 (Whiterabbit) is saying, seems like the 'objects' being in 'pieces' distracts from overall 'play'. Having said that AND being ignorant of the deepness that may be involved, i feel like that's what's lacking. i was 'surprised' when the globe-map popped up and unsure of myself (so to speak). (Oh, forgot to mention i play w/o ANY sound so that might be a factor in this regard) What i'm trying to say is that IF this game has rewarding 'eggs' (or whatever you call them (like when i remembered that the key thing was 'shape 1, shape 1, shape 2, shape3 - i was delighted... even though i probably spun those suckers a dozen times before i figured out it was a puzzle - ha ha ha on me...) THEN i don't want to miss them (the 'eggs') because i'm so intent on finding a half of a thumbtack.
So, bottom line: i'll keep this one in my 'Playrix' folder, but it may get some dust on it.
Regards,

Oh My! This does look like fun. It's downloading a bit slow for me today but that just might be because I am using open DNS instead of Comcast. I am pleased to have a chance to DL this one again and I look forward to playing it.
I like H.O.G Maybe not as much as I like Shmup's or Connect 3/4 style games but hidden object games are always a pleasant way to pass time. H.O.G are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine.
With that said I need to place a great big Thank You to Playrix here. Thank You for offering this game to us. I am reasonably confident they offered this here before. But it may be a give away from a different site that I am thinking of.
I only say this because I remember being sad once a fair bit of time back because I missed the deadline to download and install this game. I just wish I could remember with Confidence just what site it was being given away on. Drat this getting older thing.
Based on Images from the Playrix web site and some videos of the game play from big fish games on Youtube this looks fantastic. I love the Screen shots for the colours just pop right out at me. I think they are very Vivid. I can not really give this game a ranked rating because I am only going by appearances.
BUT because this is a Playrix game. I can be pretty sure it will be a fair bit of fun. So I will give this a thumbs up and a base rate of 6/10 just going by Video and still frames only.
Thank You Playrix Games and Game Give Away Of The Day for providing us with this download & play. I know I will enjoy it in my free time. Which just might not be very much ( keeps fingers crossed) For I just might spend most of my free time writing up some reviews for a small honorarium
Down loads finished taking 10 minutes to DL 118 MB or just the right amount of time needed to write this thank you blurb and post it.This is going to be a fun weekend. =) Once again Thank you Playrix & GGAOTD

Autumn's Treasure: The Jade Coin:
Installation:
Autumn's Treasure: The Jade Coin downloads to a 118 MB zip file that unpacks to a read me and a wrapped setup activation file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked. This file may case some security software to alert the user to a possible malware attack, but it will be a false positive.
The game giveaway team check all game giveaways for malware using several well known anti -malware suites. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in Dec 2006. Some community members have been having problems installing games since the security software was added. It's been found that turning off your security or configuring it to accept the setup.cgd file sorts the problem out. The installed game is MB in size. and installs to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\Autumns Treasures the Jade Coin
by default but can be changed to suit whatever your wishes are. There is no uninstaller, but this game is free standing so to delete just remove the installed folder from your hard drive. No shortcuts are installed so you will have to create your own which as most of you know is easy an easy process (right click on the games executable then select ‘Send to’ then from the drop down menu select ‘Desktop (create shortcut) ’). If you want to create a start menu/programs folder you’ll need to find the appropriate folders via your account. Once the game is installed you can delete the giveaway setup files.
I've only tested the game on Win 7 this time around, Anyone running Win 8, Vista or XP, please confirm whether this game works Thanks.
This game is available from MyPlayCity, HERE
Introduction:
Reference accessed HERE March 2013
The Game:
Autumn's Treasure: The Jade Coin has everything a great hidden object game needs. It has a plucky heroine, a lost treasure, a trail of clues that leads all over the world, and a nefarious syndicate up to no good. It's even put a nice twist on the item-finding mechanic and thrown in a few puzzles for good measure. So why is it such a tedious, boring chore to play?
Well, let's start with that heroine of ours. After inheriting her grandfather's antique shop, Autumn finds his diary, which makes mysterious references to a Jade Coin that brings good fortune. Further clues to the Coin's location are to be found on pages from the journal that were tucked into artifacts that were in the shop - artifacts that have since been auctioned off to buyers all around the world. An exciting adventure, to be sure, but Autumn seems half-asleep and bored every time she pops on screen to offer a comment or clue. She's in good company, though; none of the characters in the game are likeable or well-acted. Even players who normally enjoy following the plot will find themselves clicking through dialogue as fast as possible just to get it over with.
Unfortunately, The Jade Coin falls short in the gameplay area, too. Rather than finding items from a list, Autumn must find pieces of items in order to help her proceed (in the same way as Flux Family Secrets and the Mortimer Beckett series). She might have to find the bits of a crowbar to open a box, or assemble a wicker cage to trap an angry coati. In theory, it's a great idea, combining basic puzzle solving with object searches, but in practice, it's not much fun. More often than not, you'll be combing locations for a bit of squiggly metal, sticks, or some other similarly unrecognizable bit of junk that will eventually make the item you're looking for.
Every object you assemble will be used in the environment somehow to help Autumn on her way, such as turning on the lights or opening a door. Completing that task will inevitably lead to several more items that need to be reassembled, and so on. Each location you visit has two or three parts to it, so you'll have to move from room to room over and over again every time you're assembling a new item.
What's particularly frustrating is that it's not always obvious what you're supposed to do with an object once you've put it back together. Puzzles you're meant to solve will highlight when you mouse over them and will give pretty obvious hints about what you need to do to them ("I bet those rats would like some cheese!"), but they're sometimes tucked out of the way and can be easy to miss, leading to many moments when you simply don't know what to do next.
The Jade Coin does provide some valuable help, though. Mousing over an item's silhouette will tell you not only what it is, but also show you what the bits it's been broken into look like. If you still can't find what you're looking for (or, more likely, are just sick of looking for the seventh nondescript rock you have to find), you can click on your grandfather's amulet for a rechargeable hint. You can use as many hints as you like, but each one adds five minutes to your overall score - a pretty harsh penalty.
Solving the mid-level puzzles, rather than skipping them, will shave two minutes off your score, however. The puzzles, such as sliding tiles and simple matching tasks, are fairly easy and usually worth doing if only for the time bonus. Each level ends with a fairly easy jigsaw that points Autumn at her next destination.
Strategy Guide:
You'll find a walkthrough and tips on how to play Autumn's Treasure: The Jade Coin HERE
System Requirements:
Windows XP-Vista 98, ME, 2000
CPU: 700 MHz
System Memory: 128 MB RAM
Direct X 7.0 or higher
Images & Video:
You can see around 70 images HERE (no slideshow at the moment, just click on the arrow that appears on the right side of the image when you hover your mouse over the appropriate place). Also there are several videos available which can be seen HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE (Spanish)
Music:
Conclusion:
Autumn's Treasure: The Jade Coin has plenty of good ideas, but falters when it comes to executing them. It has nice enough visuals and a few well-done sequences here and there, but overall it's just not that much fun. Autumn is pretty bland, as main characters go, and the item searches grow tiresome very quickly. There are better adventures to be had.
Pros:
• Relatively unique concept. Some entertaining puzzles.
Cons:
• Tedious. A bit on the short side. Items can be obscure or hard to find. Harsh penalty for using hints.
Scoring
Game play – 7
Graphics – 9
Audio – 7
Re-playability – 6
Originality – 8

Problems:
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums in the game discussion section. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). This is the last chance to get this amazing deal as the game is released in a couple of days (Monday I think). X-Com: Enemy Unknown. That said, Steam also have a brilliant deal on this game, with a free giftable copy of Bioshock, a free dlc, loads of TF2 items and X-Com: Enemy Unknown. series totally free as well. GMG also have an excellent Indie sale on, with loads of decent titles reduced significantly.
There's a 20% off coupon that can be used with most digital downloads via GMG. You'll find all the deals from GMG HERE.
EA also have a brilliant sale on with 50% off most games. also, if you purchased the latest game in the sim City franchise they are giving a free game that includes Dead Space 3, Sim city 4, Crysis 3, Battlefield 3 as well as several other games.
To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a decent price.
I'm not sure what Alawar's free game of the month is. Mine has been stuck at sprill for three months now,, but I think someone said it was one of the craze games (Time Management) You may need to reinstall game-box if its still showing the previous game. It's supposed to change every month, but some community members are seeing the same game for months on end. Dido suggested that you reinstall game-box to fix the problem. Reinstalling game-box shouldn't affect any previous freebies. :). (You need to install the free Game-box from Alawar to access the free games, which for newcomers change approximately every month). If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (of which there are at least four live at the moment, and all of which contain some excellent games - see below for links and details); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand.
The latest IndieGameStand game is Space Pirates & Zombies (excellent game) (changes late Sunday early Monday morning)) . You can pay less than a dollar for this game, but if you want the extra's (usually game music, manuals etc) you have to pay the average price.. There's also several indie bundles over at Indiebundle.org. Each bundle has three games and costs $5 each.
There's yet more bundles available from Bundle in a box, Build a Bundle (Groupees), Indie Gala, Indie Royale and the Humble guys are having a weekly sale now. Check the game discussion forums for details of all active bundles.
Most of the bundles retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars, but you can pay as little as a dollar.
A Request for helpl>:
