In Brief:
Automatic War is a pixel graphic based auto battler where you have to strategically place various units you have access to before the battle starts. To start the battle, press the start button that's located in the bottom left of the game screen. Once battle commences units automatically attack enemy units and vice versa until either the enemy or your units are totally destroyed; you just sit back and watch the slaughter.

If you manage to win, you move on to the next level with the ability to place extra units. If you lose the game automatically restarts the level, you lost and try a different strategy. As you progress you are able to create increased number of each of the units; you unlock new units a s you progress. Depending on the enemy type, guns are not always the best unit to use.

You have three types of units, i.e., ranged (gun), hand-to-hand (melee) and another that slow down the enemy, but cause's no damage. To see the unit's strength, hover your mouse pointer over the units that can be found at the middle bottom of the screen. The type of unit is named together with the damage and hit points the unit can take, for example the Ogre can take 25 hits and causes 2 damage every hit it makes, whereas the shooter only causes 1 damage and has fewer hit points i,e 15, so is easier to kill. The Chill unit slows down enemies and has a HP of 15 with zero damage. I didn't get far enough into the game to discover other types of units, but from the video there appears to be at least nine to choose from by the time you get to level 41.

The game includes 50 levels.

You can see a few videos of game play HERE and one via the Steam store page HERE.
Conclusion:
If you are into strategy games, this may be one for you. Otherwise, I think you may find the game a little tedious. Graphic is pixilated and very basic. Personally, I did not enjoy playing this game, so lost interest after getting to level 3 (I did try to reach level 4 but failed miserably several times, so gave up (forever); besides I was keen to play a couple of games I'd just been gifted from my son (TT Isle of Man Ride on the Edge 2 and WRC 9 FIA World Rally Championship), both of which I'd been after since their release two years ago) .

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found zero hits from 63 antimalware engines. You can see the scan of the installed game HERE.

Would have like to try it, never tried an auto battle game, but another of those that don't like my old win xp, 32 bit machine. May be XP compatible as claimed. My issue may be that it's a dual core program and my ancient CPU is only a single. No event listed in Event Viewer. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get to try this type in the future. Thanks anyway GGOTD and Steam/Falco, or whoever is the source.

I've played many automatic battle type games on the Sega Genesis / Sega CD. Shining Force was one of them where you had to move your character around and a battle automatically commenced. And then there was Dark Wizard for the Sega CD which was a grid type battle game with auto battles. There may be other games in this genre too much to list here.

While a lot of these games are complicated, this game tries to capture the genre of this type of battle system without the bloat. Story Line, side quests etc. It was actually pretty fun to play and I was amused by how the characters on the screen was going after each other so quickly. It's almost arcade like in a sense. It is very basic to the point after all which makes it easy to figure it out and play.

I'd like to see the game have some more detailed playing fields and a little more clearer character sprites but it's what it is and was fun to play.
