Thank you for a neat version of this game! I love the graphics and the music isn't ear splitting... I love the fact that you have to play the Quest game to open the classic and other games... tricky!!
I enjoy this game because I can't play really fast and this allows me to use the mouse instead of the arrows... I would love to see more mystery solving mind games... Thank you!!!

Thanks again, GOTD. I didn't download this game, but only because we still have it on all three computers from last time! The wife loves mahjong games.

As for the negative people: if you don't want the game, simply don't download it. Yes, it's really THAT simple. We really don't want to hear you whine and pout and cry.

GOTD, I love your site and I pass on the address to all my friends and co-workers! Thanks again.

I really enjoy Mahjongg games and this is a really fun one. Playing the Quest game unlocks the other two games and other tiles sets I've found. I'm having fun going through the levels so far.

Thanks for this one Alawar. I even recommended it to my mom who enjoys Mahjongg games as well.

# 73 - click the glowing orb at the bottom left of the shuffle button. It will be glowing with sparkles around it. The shuffle button has five indents. The one on the bottom left has an orb filling it. Click the orb.

# 60 - Read above. To unlock the classic/endless modes you must play the quest. After about 5-7 levels you will unlock them both.

I just love it when people read all the comments before they post their complaints.

Lovely game. My wife was just commenting on how she wanted a Mahjongg game for her new laptop. And BANG, here's a doozie. Thanks again, GGOTD.

To #66 and others: Be sure you (A) double click and run the ACTIVATE file before you run SETUP, and (B) uncheck the "Run [game name] now" box before you click FINISH on the installer. I've run into this problem on a few Alawar games, and these two steps seem to prevent it from happening. FILE THAT ONE AWAY, KIDS. :)

cool game. Differences in tiles fairly easy for my low vision. I like the fact that you have to "earn" classic and endless modes - even though you only have to play a few levels to get them unlocked. This is definitely a keeper! Thanks Alawar and GGOTD!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Universe is funny. Yesterday I deleted Buku Mahjongg because it was too boring. Today you offer me this :-) Downloaded, installed, activated fine on my old (includes a floppy drive) laptop with WinXP. I would have posted earlier but I had hard time quiting the game ;-) I feel sorry for the people that cannot get it to work. It is the most fun Mahjongg I ever played. You do not have to finish the quest to play the classic or limitless game. After you finish the tutorial and maybe one more layout a message pops up saying the Classic games are unlocked. Couple more of the quest layouts later the message says that the limitless games are unlocked. From then on you can switch Sorry if somebody already mention this but I do not have time to read all the posts as I have to get back to playing Artifacts ;-)

I am not sure if this comment will go in, but #73, I was helped over in the forum by a kind individual who told me to play it in full screen(which I had unchecked)
It worked for me then...go and see in the forum questions under this game name, and read what's there and ask if you still have problems?
Maybe changing your resolution would help?
good luck!

#69 - I do NOT have to run as administrator to install in Vista. I just don't put it in Program Files and it's perfectly happy.

#73 - You seem to have to click just in the one tiny circle (bottom left) of the shuffle area to get it to shuffle. Once you get into the game, you seem to have to play a while before shuffle works. I have yet to use it.

#1 - It's obvious that you NEVER even tried this game.

#32, 36, 60 and whomever else it applies: You HAVE to win ONE game on the quest and then it opens the classic mahjongg style. A few more games of the quest opens the "endless" version. I haven't tried these--I am hooked on the Quest version.

#60 & #73 You have to earn reshuffle abilities. The more you play, the more re-shuffle chances you get. The first games should be easy enough to win w/o reshuffling. Also remember that you HAVE to pair up the gold tiles to win the game. But try to get as many paired up as possible before pairing the gold because that ends your game and gives you your score. Bonus points for taking out all the tiles, time and other things.

The Quest is a story version (comic book style) where you are "searching" for artifacts. And winning games gives you a new piece of the puzzle and a new bit of the story.

Very nice, runs great on my Vista (Home Premium) laptop although it doesn't mention Vista.

The tutorial helps explain the layout and the Chinese bonus tiles. But it doesn't tell you what the equivalent bonus tiles are when the layout changes to Greek, for example. You have to guess. I LOVE being able to grey out the unreachable tiles. So many times it's hard to tell which ones are active and which ones are not.

You will have to play a little bit to access Classic and Endless.

For those having problems with the Shuffle in the Tutorial level, click on the small blue sphere that appears (there's five slots, the fist one is lower left).

Ok , I am still unable to progress past the tutorial.
I have windows xp,(yes I did make sure that my computer met the system requirements)
I get to the part where one is supposed to press the shuffle button but nothing happens, and my screen is locked.
(By the way I have reinstalled and reinstalled about 4 times, even using my C drive the last time rather than my D drive (my hard drive is divided, and I generally put all my games on it.)
I do have direct X #9
I turned off my antivirus before installing too.
I even changed the compatibility mode; using windows 200 rather than xp.
(I was glad to hear that the other modes of play became playable after unlocking the quest mode, thanks to those who mentioned this, but unless I can get past the shuffle part, I cannot play..)
:(

60 and 73:

Make sure you're running it in full-screen mode in options. You may have to run it only full-screen, or change to a higher screen resolution if you want to run it windowed. I solved it for myself this way.

Update to my earlier comments - I was able to get to the Classic game (and all 99 layouts) after playing the first game in Quest. As soon as I completed my first Artifact, the Endless game came up.

It seems to be funny how it works like a charm for some people and won't work at all for others and it does not seem to be just Vista. I'm running Vista Ultimate 32 bit and it works like a charm for me.

As is typical for all games, I turn off the music but leave the sound effects on. I don't like the distraction of the background music but I do like the beeps and bonks of the sound effects.

Wonderful game. I wish there was a choice of tiles but having it change when you go after another artifact is rather nice.

Love Mahjongg, but couldn't get the game going. Downloaded it twice and all I can get is the click on the game to start page. I did click on options to the smaller screen size, and now can't even click on options anymore. Only thing that works is to escape.

What am I doing wrong?

Vista people should remember that when you are installing a game, you need to right-click when you're clicking on the setup file and make sure that you "run as administrator" when installing.

Also, everyone should make sure that they check the system requirements. Vista isn't one of the OS listed as being compatible for this game, so right off the bat you should know that it may or may not work on your computer - and if you're running 64-bit Vista you know the odds are already stacked against you because a lot of software can't handle that yet. In addition, you need DirectX 9.0 for the graphics. Some problems might be resolved by updating DirectX on your computer.

I've also found that it pays to read through the comments thread for these games before installing them. That way you can see what problems people may or may not be having, and you can learn the quirks of the game - such as the Classic and Endless games in this one being initially unavailable BUT that they become unlocked and available the further you progress with the Quest game.

#60 and others. It was confusing to my wife and I at first (I thought we hadn't activated correctly), but it appears that you have to play (and win) the Quest mode before you are allowed to play Classic. I assume (haven't gone that far yet) that you have to win Classic before you are enabled to select Endless. I imagine a similar senario applies to the tile selection and background screens, because when I went to those screens, only one was selectable and the rest were greyed out, even though there were some nice tiles and backgrounds. The initial confusion notwithstanding, this is definitely the best Mahjongg game I have played (I am not a big Mahjongg fan.) One feature I particularly like is the ability in Quest to grey out the non-accessible tiles. This means that I don't have to squint so much when playing. :^)

When the window comes up to play, it says demo or purchased. If I click on purchase, it asks for a code. If this is a free game, where is the code? Or is this just a 60 minuted demo? From what is said on here, it is a free giveaway. That means, no purchasing. How do I get the full version, if it is free? anyone have the code to put in this? I don't wanna be playing the demo forever, when it should be the full version that is free.

I am not a Mahjongg fan so I was surprised to say that I really like this game. I decided to give it a shot - figuring I could just uninstall, but, I'm going to keep it. I love the smooth quality of the game and it is not as boring as the other mahjongg games I have tried. Like the sounds and the different power tiles. If you do like mahjongg, that would be even more reason this rocks. Thanks GGOTD.

Love it!A very well made Mahjongg. It has the option to play full screened or windowed. The tiles are very well done and the music and sounds are professionally done too. This had a little different slant to the game that makes it a fresh addition to a Mahjongg collection.
Another really good Alawar game. Thumbs Up and thanks!

Well how disappointing...
I installed the game with no problem(it looks very good, and different)
However once I get in the first screen, the only play option is the quest version...I cannot play endless or classic; the buttons are greyed out. I also cannot make it go into windowed mode.
My computer meets all the system requirements..
I try to play the quest option and all is well for a few minutes(BUT full screen even though the full screen button is UNCHECKED)
But, I cannot play past the demonstration!
It shows me the various buttons, and I play until the last ones need to be "reshuffled"...Alas the reshuffle button doesn't work and I cannot return to the main menu or do anything so have to close the screen/game.
HELP!
I think it looks a great game but must have some bugs..anyone else have any luck?

Further to my previous comment, I am still able to select only the adventure mode of play, but the rest of the problem was only finger trouble: I had not realized that the first level of play was a tutorial and would not let you click on anything but what the tutorial suggested.

A nice Mahjongg game. The graphics are pleasing, and there's lots of layouts and some nice tilesets. Endless mode is no challenge and is pretty much mindless clicking, but sort of zen for all that. Note that you have to play through Quest mode for a bit to unlock tilesets and other modes. Quest mode itself isn't bad: one screen of comic and then straight on to another puzzle. It doesn't take forever to get through if you don't care about the story. I've been looking for a nice, free mahjongg game, and this might be it. It's simple but hey, this is mahjongg we're talking about, not rocket science.

Some inovative and interesting features. I almost didn't download this, but my wife wanted to try it. I am not usually a big Mahjongg player, but this is the best one I have seen. A bit confusing at first because you seem to be forced through a tutorial and have to earn your right to play the classic and endless styles, similar to some of the shotter games where you have to complete one level before the next level is opened to play. Try it, youwon't be sorry!
