One of my favorite giveaways. My wife and I have had hours of enjoyment from this game. I'm on Day 63, Journey 10 and have 2,290,065 points and 24 lives. How are you doing? Can’t wait to see what other offerings time will bring to Game of the Day. Hope to see more soon.

I really like this game. The main thing that I find annoying is that the last country (USA) has many more levels than the previous countries and that makes it frustrating if you have to start the level over again. The next thing that I found aggravating is in order to exit the game you have to click 5 different things in order to exit the game. Other than that, I love the game.

This game is definitely challenging, and the graphics are outstanding. My husband and I have played this game for dozens of hours and are both stuck at the Japan level. Hope it is available again, so others can enjoy it.

Help! Any hints on how to get past Day 78? Where all the tiles on the bottom are frozen? I can't seem to figure this level out & I hate to have to keep going back to the beginning of the USA level! Help!

I love the Atlantis games but this one is so much harder. I can't get past day 72. I lose by one or two tiles every time.

What I do like about this game is the storyline. Follows the original story very well and the graphics are excellent. Like the music too.

Compared to the Atlantis games though, this one is missing the ability to choose which powers you want to use at what time. The power up in this game powers up too slowly making it very hard to complete. I sorely miss the swap power. You work towards getting the correct tiles and trying to get a power up so you can get rid of the one tile in your way and then the whole thing is ruined over and over again by the new falling tiles. It's as though the game won't give you a break.

As much as I'm thrilled by the story and graphics, it's ultimately about a pleasureable gameplay and I find this one very frustrating. I have to start America over again and I don't like having to replay what I already did. Just me.

When this was given away last time, I didn't get it, but played the online demo which hooked me on match 3. I could make little quibbles: it seems easier now - I got through Egypt on the first time (although frozen tiles are introduced earlier than I'm used to), although some of that is probably that I'm a better player now - and a glitch caused me to lose a life unnecessarily and maybe lose out on a life bonus (though probably not), the music is good but not great (though music in any game I consider a minor quibble) and it now rains a little too much in England and France, but REALLY....

Even though this is the game that got me hooked, I may now like Rise of Atlantis more. But the bottom line for me is this: some may complain that this isn't the latest state of the art shooter, but again, REALLY! Well thought out game, quality graphics, inventive levels, very playable, memorable, strong adaptation and a clever idea for a game to start with.

In short, if I were GGOTD, I'd be PROUD to have a game of this high quality to give away. And I feel privileged to get it! How could anyone complain? How could anyone not see GGOTD as a great bargain and an excellent project. So it isn't a slam dunk every time. To use another American sports metaphor, nobody even bats .500, much less 1,000. GGOTD and GOTD have significantly improved my computing. How could you ask for more than that?

While I'm not a huge fan of match three games, I must say this is a very good one! The graphics are beautiful, the music is unobtrusive, and the variation in powerups is a nice feature too. It starts out very easy, but that wont last forever!

Definitely a keeper for when I need to relax and veg out for a bit :o)

Thanks for a very high quality and enjoyable game!

When I clicked on game to play it says: Failed to connect. Please try again later.

Why is it not connecting?

I had this game on another computer from a past giveaway. I've not had access to my computer for some time now and missed the game a lot.

A little while ago I downloaded it from a website suggested by Whiterabbit. It gave the game for free but opened their website upon starting and exiting the game. Mildly annoying but worth it for the game. I am happy to be able to get the full non-ad supported version. Thanks, GGotD!

Hi Dani,

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss and your lonliness. May I suggest you join the forums as there as some very friendly people posting there, plus it's a great place to find free games etc. There's an excellent thread called the Free Weekday Games Synopsis. All the games are Freeware and Abandonware, but some are as good as commercial games. There's even loads of old DOS games that you can download (though you'll also need to download DOSBox, (there's a thread for instructions on how to use it) if you're into Retro games. Most of the old DOS games as well as Atari and Commadore games are now totally free. Some say why play such rubbish, well, others say these games are as entertaining now as they were then. I'm with the latter.

Regards

Stephen

p.s.

Not all games are free standing, but most are. For example if you still have any Alawar games left from previous giveaways they definitely require registration codes. Still, if you really like the game and can't save it, it's probably worth buying. :)

To 50 Cecile Q - to get stuff to drop in the long single blocks put your last power-up at the bottom of the column, not at the piece you are after. It will destroy all the tiles going upward and drop the piece to the bottom, freeing it.

This is a very good game that appeals to even the older generation. When this was offered previously, I had my parents download this game to their PC and laptop. Since then it has been the only game they have played and they play it constantly. So for those that are looking for a game that older folks might want to play, I'd recommend this one.

Hi! I wish to thank you for this beautiful game, and for the idea of offering a game on weekends. I am a lonely person, I've lost my husband and I'm alone at home, and especially at the weekend and when there is a holiday I am alone at home and sad, your games let me forget everything and I pass a few hours happy. Thank you very much!

To 35 DaringSpirit - you don't have to lose all your games when you get a new computer on Monday. Thanks to WhiteRabbit for the tip a few months back - most of these games are free standing, so you can copy them to a flash stick or external drive and still play them on your new system. I download all of my games to my external drive and Stephen's advice meant that I still had them all when my beloved laptop died in early January.

To Vitor and all the other posters whose first language is not English - you have my highest respect and admiration. I may be very clever at many subjects but I have NO talent at all for other languages. I would be totally lost even surfing a non-English page let alone trying post there.

Thank you GGOTD!! This was one of the games that was stuck on my old PC - so haven't been able to play since last November. Really glad to see this repeat as it is an excellent match 3 and addictive! This game is definitely one of the better match 3's and is fairly easy on the eyes - at least for my low vision anyway! I prefer playing the windowed version without the custom cursor. Hopefully I will be able to get past those last three or four killer levels and actually win it this time!! Thanks again to whiterabbit and the GOTD team !! You guys rock!!

Really enjoyed playing this one last time. Thank you for a great give away here.

Never able to win it or get around the world.
Think up to day 75 or something where you have the long single legs and alot of locks. According to the instructions, the last power up was supposed to be able to move stuff out of narrow places but just destroyed the elements above instead.

*** Never knew to go to the forums. There is a tips thread there.

Hi Kay, Mirror link is just a term that means a link where you can get the same file from. If you go to the main download link and look below it, you'll see Mirror link #1. Just click on that.

As someone else has previously mentioned, it may be a good idea to clear your cache out; to do this right, click on your internet icon (assuming it's I.E). and select Internet Properties. You'll find a button that enables you to clear out all the temporary internet files plus sundry other areas of your computer. If you use Firefox go to tools then options then click on the general tab. from there you should find temporary Internet folders. I've not used firefox for a while so am not certain of that last bit of info though.

If you continue to have problems, please do post more information.

Hi Joy, You can download Bass.dll from the following site:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?bass

I think you just have to copy (or unpack) the bass.dll file directly into the games folder. Let us knoow if it works.

Regards

Hi Kay,

Try downloading from the mirror link. If you have no luck with that use the Gametop version. Read my review (comment #1) above for details. You'll find more Match Three games from the site as well.

thanks I deleted this by accident recently, and hoped to get it back. I prefer it to Atlantis only because I am tired of the Atlantis theme. But this format of Match 3 is the most fun, actually having a goal, I will take any if they make more, if they stay away from Atlantis!

This game is nicely done. Apart from the story, the match-3 puzzles are also good. Graphics are very good. You can get this free on GameTop but any GameTop games opens GameTop's site when closed (no spyware, etc). The version given here, however, just closes cleanly. And only now I realized where all those "Around the world" screensavers came from :).
