Happy New Year to all
Apothecarium World
In Brief
A traditional Hidden Object game with no frills.
The game was previously given away HERE August 5th 2017 where it received a55% rating from 29 votes with 33 comments, I think it received a lot of down votes due to many community members receiving an error message saying a particular library file was missing. This can be remedied by downloading the vcredist_x86.exe part of the Visual C++ Redistributable package from Microsoft HERE.

If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Apothecarium World to work please visit the problems section, which I've now incorporated into the FAQ's thread, and which you can find HERE
The Game:
This is an unusual; Hidden Object game in that you can access every hidden Object scene right from the out set. there are two modes, training and normal. In training mode there is no time limit, and there is no progression to a higher level, however replaying the scene will give you some different items to find, but all previous items remain in the same place. Playing in noprmal mode gives you several different rounds, each round getting progressively hard becasue you have to find more items in a limited amount of time. There are 66 locations each one repeated five times in normal mode.
I have the extended version of this game which has been renamed Apothecarium: The Renaissance of Evil - Premium Edition, which has been extended to include puzzles, a new look selection screen for the HOG parts a proper options menu a main menu, help, a match three game and achievements, in effect a totally fifferent game with elements of the original included. You can fin the new version over on Steam HERE for £4.99/$6.99. If you just prefer the hidden object part of a game, then the original is well worth haviong. If you like all the extra's the updated version is a blast.

Videos of Apothecarium World:
You can see a videos of game play HERE, HERE and some of the updated version (not given away today) HERE.
Conclusion:
Apothecarium World is a traditional hidden object game with no adventure or puzzle elements where you can choose any of the HO scenes right from the start. There's nothing else but Hidden Object scenes, no puzzles, no adventure, sroty, help or options menu, not even a main menu. Once played through a few times the game does has limited replayability due to the positions of all items being fixed to one place.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MyPlayCity for giving away Apothecarium World and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games.

After following the instructions for temp disabling my anti-virus, I had no problem installing or having the game show as registered. The graphics are pretty cool! Thanks very much to GAOTD and MyPlayCity.

"you can get it HERE via Steam. It costs £4.99/$26.99."

Now I know exchange rate for GBP to USD isn't 1:1 but this is a bit extreme...
(you have an extra 2 there- is actually $6.99. And as it turns out, it is already in my steam library)

Also, since I can't edit my comment I will add as a reply- thanks WR for your continued volunteer work here over the years. Yes, typos happen- my comment was meant in humo(u)r, but I realized it could also be taken as sounding complain-ey.

"The program can't start because msvcr120.dll is missing from your computer." I copied into the game's directory and still got the error message. What a waste.

Does not appear to allow one to enter their name(s), or select options. Timer games are not for me also.

Please add a "relaxed mode" without a timer! The last thing I want to do, after coming home from a stressed out job, is to play a game with MORE stress!!

I downloaded, installed and played this game when it was given away in 2017. I thought the name of the game sounded familiar, then I saw the game images and know I've played it before. I won't be downloading again because I remember this game was timed. I lost more than I won and for me that is frustrating. It's also dark and that can be an issue if you're hoping there's some happiness and light and there's not. Like many here, my go to genre is HOGs so when I see a new game offered here and on the free games websites I go to, I am eager to try them. This game isn't one of them unfortunately. To those who want a leisure game, this isn't it. The graphics are okay, I turn off music and sounds so I cannot comment on those. Thanks for the offer though GGOTD. Happy New Year to everyone.

Installed the program. The loading splash screen comes up and then jumps to the myplaycity web page as when closing the game down. I never see the actual game. No missing dll warnings or anything.

good2bqueen, WR gave a link to the C+++ package that contains the dLL file you're looking for.

Deborah1962, You don't seem to understand that I didn't say an error came up. It just simply goes from the load screen to the after you close the game browser page. The game doesn't show up. My dll file is fine. It is ok though. This looks to be a tiny game and I prefer ones that are more fleshed out.

I installed the game, but it won't open. I get this message: The program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I tried reinstalling, no luck.

Deborah1962, Thanks for trying to help. I finally found the right package - I guess - and got the game installed. There are no options available at all, and it is very laggy and glitchy. All that, and now I'm uninstalling it. :(

Thanks for the offer, but though I'm a big fan of HOGs, this style of HOG doesn't appeal to me. I loathe "timed" HOGs where the clock cannot be switched off! Have a timed mode as an OPTION and even the default if you want, but developers, please: PLEASE give us the OPTION to have a "relaxed" or "casual" mode with NO CLOCK as well!!!
Also IMHO this style of game always makes me think it is only half-finished, because of the lack of puzzles or any attempt to add a storyline. It's as if all the artwork an objects have been made for a game, but for whatever reason, a decision was made not to make it into a full HOG — or perhaps it was designed from the start for mobile devices, where choosing a "level" and playing one or two "levels" (usually against the clock) before having to stop play is usual. If this game started life as a "mobile" game (seeing "Tap" on a sreen shot usually means that it did), then it would be nice if the Windows version allowed you to play casual, since you won't be waiting for a train or bus or whatever!

Cad Delworth, I had the same reaction as I remembered this game the first time I played it. For me, it's frustrating enough to lose but when it's because of time, that's a deal breaker for me. I play leisurely, not to break some time constraint which really has no purpose in HOGs. The dreary images, the lack of a break in the monotony, I lose interest pretty quickly when it's all one way and nothing else. The darkness of the game weighs on you too, you expect to see brightness intermixed with the darkness but there is none.

The first time I played the game the first 8Floor screen appereared for a long time and twice. It isn't a very relaxing game and I haven't found a way to cancel the timing of you playing. It is'not my favorite kind of HOG, but hey... it's a HOG :-P

Before I forget again: All the best wishes for 2020 to everyone!

The game doesn't come over initia "8FLOORS" screen, just shuts down.
Tried installing "vcredist_x86.exe" only to learn I have it on PC - newer version...

Again - just as last week - the basket in the first scene didn't respond to clicking on it (Windows 10 - 64-bit). Setting the comptability to Windows 7 did the trick again :-)

Thank you for this HOG.
