I was very uncomfortable cutting down the saguaro cactus. It's a protected plant, and cutting one down is like shooting a bald eagle. It doesn't feel right, even in a game.
That aside, what a pleasant game. It has a straightforward storyline divided into chapters. (I loved the delicate details on the splash pages.) The challenge ranged from easy to moderate, which is just fine for a break between more difficult games. I liked the variety of types of hidden object tasks, as well as the puzzles, which were pretty easy. I appreciated that objects were identified by name. I think there was just one song, but somehow it never became monotonous. The artwork is beautiful and clear. Contrasted with that were the cartoon-style cut scenes, which were a nice change from the usual animations.
Thanks so much, Alawar, GGOTD, and Whiterabbit!

Hmmm, strange. Mine first downloads to my downloads folder and then when I extract it from there, it goes to my desktop. I'm on Win7 Premium Home Edition and not sure if that makes a difference. All of the games GOTD offers work this way. I have a desktop full of your games. I get a folder and then I open that folder and the game icon and other files needed are there.

The kids haven't tried this out much yet, but it downloaded and installed very easily. Alawar games usually do and I've given thumbs up.
WR, saying that you "live outside of US jurisdiction" seems like something that's going to just going to feed this idiot's ego.
There are no censorship laws in the US and I've had personal experience with newspapers, churches, schools, government and other organizations censoring all sorts of things - even information in other branches of their own organizations from time to time. Note that the churches, schools and governments are all non-profit organizations and I've yet to hear of one of them being sued. Some governments are required in some states to hold public meetings, but the US government is not. They also love to "redact" printed materials and that's classic obvious censorship.
Surely a for-profit company like GiveawayoftheDay has every right to censor anything they want to. My comments on the non-game giveaway site are omitted (censored) half the time, usually when I bring up a problem. You even once omitted a negative comment I made here about a game I felt was too violent. But this is your right to do so and I never complain about something like that.
MY OPINION is that you should not even indicate that there ever was a comment when someone posts something with foul language (this is a family site), or anything that's simplton nonsense like non-existent laws from someone who "always wins" (also nonsense - no person has ever always won). It would make following the comments easier if the garbage was simply not presented.

I can agree with the most you have said. But, as this is the most complete comment of the real game player, I can add some nuances.
Graphics is really clean, but it looks a bit outdated. I think it was an attempt to make a proper balance between a reality of graphics and a volume of downlowdable file. The volume is the winner. Nevertheless, I admire an animated personage in the HOG scenes. In many Hog games you can see animated leaves, rats, cockroaches, etc. But I've never seen animated humans. They look much better then animated cockroaches!

The Russians make a wonderful product. This game flows nicely and stuff. D as E, man. Uh, there's a couple issues in the item collecting as in the beginning if you're just going for like 18-20 items I'd expect to be able to click on them right away, not have to choose a semi-linear quiver of 7 items to unlock the other 8-10. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the other Hogs that allow you to collect whatever items seem out of place and the unlock is a .. I haven't finished it so I'm not gonna say minor annoyance yet. I'm going to roll with it that it's their game and they felt it was best to have it flow that way. Even if it's up to appeasing the audience, it's still an art piece and it's up to them how they deliver it. Especially if it's free.
This game looks like it's been worked on for probably a year, 1-2 years since the Renergy Entertainment site says 2012-2014. I'd move the call to link to the Developer name in these Giveaways.
Know when you get this you're getting Renergy's whole catalogue since no other games are listed on the site. And we're talking about a staff of about 8 people. I don't know if they met in person or corresponded via electronic telegraph. I look up for tube videos and find nothing so I'm gonna presume they simply worked on it and made it. Most up and comers these days crowdfund, promote, go to expos. They just simply did their thing, made a product and it works. Alawar games going by one other install do a self extractor to games by default so no registry additions, no installers, no known bundled wares are involved. I like this bare bones install method as it's a throwback to the ancient times.
The sound and music is repetitive but gorgeous, and repetitive serves an advantage here as it's done so thoroughly. It's very crisp and I don't hear anything offkey. Eugene Sister and Konstatin Elgazin piece it together and I always feel like the pulse of any game is the tracks involved. They have the skills to put together any game. You can enjoy Konstatin's other music at http://www.elgazin.com/ even if you missed this giveaway and don't want to fork over 9.99 to Alawar for it, though it's a fair price for the music alone.
The art is gorgeous if not brushed on by other reviewers. I don't know if he did the 2d/3d or both, but Sergey Bezuglyy did an outstanding job with the art. There's not much more to say, but I prefer the hand drawn-looking 2d art over the 3d art because of a taste of personal preference, not performance. Both combined are very special though. It gives us a taste of what can be achieved in multiple mediums. I'd assume draw by hand and be done with it, but that's simply not enough for this group. And they're modest about it too and that's great.
Igor Shutenko did the lead programming, and going by a translation of Renergy Entertainment's page, they do c++. I don't know if they built their engine from the ground up or not but I don't see a bunch of icons of different sdks or anything so if that's the case they built that from the ground up potentially. Renergy's site is at http://www.renergy.com.ua/ for any interested.
I'm guessing the main complaints are filesize, not price. Potentially lossless music/art, and if it's to work on all computers without lag, the 3d art animation would have to be pre-rendered. I'd say let it take the space. If you've ever bought games in this era, they can take tons of space and maybe be even shorter. And in the scope of under $15 or even free, it's worth it.
Renergy Entertainment, I would try again a+++, WhiteRabbit/GGAOTD/GAOTD thanks for orchestrating this.

The game works well on one of my desktop PCs with the Windows 7 x86 installed. But on the other PC with the Windows XP SP3 x86 the game don't work.
When i try to start the game, the process with the game name appears for a second, but then ends up without any error messages on screen or in the Windows events. Also no log or error report files in the game directory.
Looks like there is some sort of incomatibility that can't be helped without any clues. I'll try to investigate it further with some process activity control tools and post here if i can discover something useful.
In any case i can enjoy the game on my first PC. Thanks to the game developers and to GotD staff.

first time that I have had a GOD not work, game won't start. Win 7 64 bit, every time I try to start the game I get a quick flash of a black screen and then it's gone. I have worked with all the different compatibility settings and none worked. I'll hold on to it for a bit to see if you get a fix, otherwise a shame as I have just gotten into these hidden object games and love them. Thanks for the chance to try it.

Enjoyed the game, nice storyline. Sadly over all too quickly. Good for a relaxing Sunday though, means I didn't stay up all night finishing it off. Would have felt annoyed if I had paid for it as it only appears to have one level of play.

I installed and ran using windows 8.1. The only issue I noticed was some lag in the dialog during the story line. Nice HOG game but rather short. The HOG portion is reasonable for folks with less than perfect vision. Even when something is small or in a dark area it is reasonable. Because the game takes such a short time to complete and there is only one outcome it doesn't lend itself to replay. The value for the price (considering if purchased - not free) is not as good as other games that Alawar produces. Because of the brevity of the game and the single possible outcome I think this game will end up on the discount rack.
In all, a nice way to pass a few hours. Thanks to Alwar and GGOTD.

Game downloaded easy enough. I had no problems with the game. It seems familiar but I don't have it already so who knows. I got o scene 7 and thought I should be doing cookies. LOL Need to get my work done. As I said above the only thing I dislike about this game is having to hit Exit so many times. When I want to quit I want out. It gets really repetitious Just a pet peeve of mine. Thank you Game of the day and Alawar for allowing us the game!

Downloaded without any problem. Runs fine on Vista.
A nice little game with fairly decent graphics. Nothing is particularly difficult, although in places it's not easy to work out what to do. The hint button recharges quite quickly, which is handy if the hidden items can't be easily found, and puzzles can be skipped after a couple of minutes.
Not sure of replayability - if there is such a word my spell checker doesn't recognise it - but I'll keep it for now.
As for being sued for not keeping all comments - afaik it's the site owner who can be in trouble if something stays on a site that others don't like, rather than the other way round. So keep up the good work WR ;)

Nice game again Alaware WR and GGotD team,
I find it a great HOG game, my wife finishes in 2 hours (using the hints) i did it in 6 hours, twice used the hints, but my kids will have week of fun or frustrations depending on the day.
As i am used of Alaware, nice story line , graphics and gameplay. Big file but that should be normal with good graphics
Absolutly great for children and could be fun for adults
Hope the coming holidays bring some nice presents.
Greeting from France

Am enjoying this on a Windows7 64 bit with no problems. The dialog is part of the storyline but is a bit slow (and not well written nor interesting, imo) so I simply click through it as I read faster than the dialog lasts onscreen. There is a skip button for those not interested in character dialog hints and storyline.
sorry to those having issues. I'm experiencing none. Will install on my Widows8.1 64 bit and see if it works well there.

Hi, back again!
For anyone who also already had today's game, I just finished one that is great. I believe I got it from My Play City but wouldn't swear to it; but definitely from a free site. Called 'Dark Strokes-Sins of the Fathers'. If you like Adventure type HOGs, you will definitely like this one.
For the comment about deleting the game (or any program): I use Advance Unstaller Pro 11. It is very good at finding all the extras floating around your hard drive after an uninstall of a program. After it takes out the program it then goes and looks for leftovers like shortcuts, install files and registry entries and you can choose what you want done with those. Have never had a problem with what it chooses for deletion and if it can't uninstall a left over it will tell you it wasn't able to do it. If you do a search, you can find it for free and it will let you know when updates are available. It is put out by Innovative Solutions.
For the comment about getting out of a full screen: Not positive it will work on Win 8 (very much dislike Win 8!) but for every MS OS below that you can just hit "Ctrl Esc" at the same time and it will bring up your desktop and minimize the program. You can then just right click it on the bar and choose 'close'. Truthfully, despite using Windows since 3.1, I never remember about the 'Win' button on the keyboard. Can't even remember where I picked it up, could have been way back when DOS and the C prompt days. Pretty much forgotten where I have picked up this and that anyway.
As for the rude delinquent floating around, I get a laugh out of those types. They remind me of puffer fish and like puffer fish sooner or later loose all that hot air; either with age or when a romantic interest shows up. In the meanwhile they can be very entertaining.
Have a good day everyone and keep on gaming!

Thank you for your response.
I discovered that BASS.dll was already in the folder but I copied and replaced the new (.dll file) and received a pop up stating that: "The procedure entry point Bass_ChannelSetAttribute could not be located in the dynamic link library BASS.dll."
At the very top it says "Amanda Rose - The Game of Time.exe - EntryPoint not Found"
Any thoughts?
Again, my sincerest thank you for assisting me.

Same issue, win 7x64. Tried compatibility mode for Win XP sp2, didn't work, tried dl'ing and adding bass.dll to the game's folder and then to the windows/system32 folder, still same error, even after rebooting.
I notice the game *came* with a bass.dll file, which had an older date, but it still didn't find that one.
I guess that explains why I haven't played this one before, from reviews elsewhere, it seems decent although not outstanding, and would have liked to play it. I wonder if it would possibly run on my win 8 laptop?

Installed with no problems on Win 7, played through and enjoyed every minute of it. Great graphics, good help system if one gets stuck and a nice story. A bit lousy are the pieces with dialogues, too long loading time and not particularily interesting. All in all a good deal, I will certainly play it again. Out of 10 points I would give it 8.
And thank you, White Rabbit! You are doing a great job. Don´t get distracted by some weirdoes.

Delightful little game. You're right about the lack of a verbal narrative; it definitely would have enhanced the experience. Regardless, I enjoyed the game. Good hints, the wait in between is quick. I like the ability to bypass contests as some of them were not too intuitive. Very good graphics. Played out in about 3 hours as you mentioned. Thank you Alawar and WR.

Played through level 10 with no problems in Vista. Clicking through the static "cut scenes" is rather dreary (there's a skip button, but I'll watch these the first time through), would have been a bit better if the graphics had been the same caliber as the HOG sections. Found those HOG sections decently difficult, and no timer means relaxing play, but the puzzle sections are, so far, quite easy. Only resorted to hints twice; in one case could barely find the item even after the hint highlighted the area, in the other the hint kept telling me to do what I was already trying to do. How much "replay factor" exists remains to be seen, but so far I'm enjoying this game.
For the person complaining of edited/deleted posts - websites are private property, the owner/administrator/moderator is free to impose any regulations or restrictions they like, and they are free to edit or remove anything they wish. Most sites will, without notice, remove anything blatantly obscene, abusive, or offensive. And if you do not like a game, state why, that is constructive; to state something is "crap" or it "sucks" is insult, not critique.

Game Review:
The installation file unpacked into it's own folder (which I had already specified - this may try to unpack directly to C:/, so beware). The program doesn't seem to install itself onto Win7. I had to make a shortcut to include in my start menu (or where ever you prefer). I like this, it keeps me from having to clean up all the extraneous shortcuts that are usually included when going through a full install.
I've only played through to the third scene. The graphics are clean and crisp and pleasing to the eye, but look more simplistic than realistic, which gives everything a fairly smooth look to it. It makes the visuals seem more flat to me, which I personally don't prefer, but doesn't ruin the game. It does make finding objects a bit easier, so this is something others may prefer. There is an animated avatar of the character's head next to your object list that likes to nod or shake her head depending on if you do something right or wrong (always after you click something & get an audible cue). These always rub me the wrong way - I'm not a 5 year old, I don't need that kind of encouragement from a fake head. Also, I'm concentrating on the game-play screen not wondering what the avatar is doing since it does nothing of use. I can't help but wonder what kinds of improvements could have been made to the game had they not spent the time & money on such a useless item.
The HOG scenes are fairly straight-forward, with some items hidden in other objects. I ran into a snag during the first scene wherein I clicked the backpack but nothing happened. Only when I used the hint could I get into the backpack (more on the hints later). The next scene contained two HOGs, the first straightforward with more items added as space was made in your list, the second made extensive use of "find this object first, then use it to find the next" technique. Leaving the room involved a very easy to solve puzzle. Even though it was easy, I'm very happy to see these types of things in HOGs as nothing but HO scenes get very boring for me.
The hint system works well, but for some reason, it didn't strike me as intuitive at first. For example, in the first scene, I needed to find the walkie-talkie. It was the only item left. I clicked the hint thinking it would highlight some area, but nothing happened. I finally figured out that I needed to click the hint, then click the item I wanted (the walkie-talkie). This was a bit counter-intuitive for me, as it was the only item left & I am accustomed to the hint in a HOG randomly choosing something off the list. Usually I try to find everything on an HO list; if there are 2-3 items left, it's because I can't find them so it doesn't matter to me which one the hint reveals first. For the "Find One - Get One" HOG, the other items on the list are locked until you get the current one, so you can't even choose to "find" one of those (a good thing in this case). The only time I ever want to choose an item is when I am dealing with a large, multi-screened HO/Adventure game where you are finding multiple items for multiple tasks. It may be that Alawar used code from one of these larger, more complex games; that the regular players of this series prefer this kind of hint system; or I may need this later in the game as it becomes more complex. Like I said, it isn't bad, just unexpected for a simple HOG.
My only complaint about this game are the cut-scenes/story & it's really a personal preference. This is one of those games that tells the story entirely in cut-scenes, then dumps you off to find some items. I prefer to get most my story while I'm playing the game. Good cut-scene helps to move the story, but oftentimes with these HOG, the cut-scenes bog down the game play with long pauses, excessive dialogue, and ridiculous user input requirements, like clicking to advance the scenes. To be fair, the clicking through may be a courtesy to help speed up the dialogue if you don't want to skip the scenes entirely, which you can do as soon as they start (thank you for that Alawar), but this just shows how bored I was with them as I felt compelled to click once I learned it advanced the story. The images in the cut-scenes are hand-drawn and look more comic-book/cartoon-like than the rest of the game, which is another visually jarring aspect that caused me to quickly decide to skip them altogether.
I did run into the wormhole effect mentioned by an earlier poster & it is part of the story-telling. So far, it was only once in going from the first scene (the tutorial/set-up scene) to the second (main game). It lasted for only a few seconds, just long enough for me to think, "Oh, there is that wormhole effect. Yeah, I don't see any skip buttons." and then it was over. It does dump you right into one of the set-up screens with the time bar that fills up as the game scenes are loading, then straight into another dialog story-board (argh!!!), but it didn't last long, certainly not long enough to fire up the Task Manager and kill it. I suspect the poster hit the menu button as described at just the right time to throw some kind of error and get it stuck on that screen, but if others run into the same issue, I'm sure the developers would like to know about it.

I downloaded this a while ago from MyPlayCity and have thoroughly enjoyed playing the game. Perhaps I'm easily pleased, but a combination of HOGs, IHOGs and mini-puzzles together with a decent storyline is something that I find to be fun. I would say that it isn't vastly different from a number of other similar games, but no less enjoyable for that. The graphics are decent, the story good and it's varied in gameplay.
WhiteRabbit - it's sad that you have to put up with unfortunate language and impolite comments. What a pity that some people think it reasonable to waste their and your time like this rather than making constructive (if negative) criticisms. Never mind - I'm sure there are plenty of us who appreciate being offered a game for free, and it's our personal choice if it appeals to us when we download it. I'm also certain that there are lots of us who value your reviews and your comments.

But why they call in a chapter header that there is the temple of Atlas (instead of Atlantis)?
Great thanks!

Ok Windows 8.1.2 x64 Pro. Nice background music for a change. Usual options. To get FULL screen, UNCHECK the widescreen option which seems to default to a (checked) narrower view. Kinda unusual since would think a checked option would start as total screen. Didn't seem to be able to use cntl-tab to get to desktop but Win key brings up the tiled Windows to get back to desktop. I made a shortcut (added the run as Admin option just in case).
Played tutorial fast just for kicks. Hints help game but items do stand out compared to the really hard kind. Nice enough graphics for HOG parts. Just up to Chapter One so no puzzles yet. Looks like keeper for this genre. Thanks GOTD.

Amanda Rose the Game of Time is a very enjoyable hidden object game. The graphics are charming, including both the retro elements and the comic book-style of the cut scenes. The tutorial elements are well thought out. The music is elegant, gentle and atmospheric. Gameplay is smooth and relaxing. The storyline is gently entertaining. Another great giveaway from the ever-reliable Alawar.

The game itself isn't of the highest quality we've seen from Alawar but it's a good HOG none the less. My only complaint is that it once again goes to C:\Games instead of an install that leaves a shortcut on the desktop. Even then it's not so much of a complaint as it is a preference issue. I think it's rather sad that you guys offer up a game for free and people have so many complaints about it. It's free. If they paid for this service monthly or weekly then I could see reason to be upset but people who sit on their bottom all week and get one or two free game options on the weekend have no right to complain that the game isn't up to their standards. As for threatening to sue people, well I really only have two things to say on that. 1) Grow up. Not everything in this world is worth suing over. You are threatening to sue someone overseas for not posting a harassing comment on their own blog site. They have that right. 2) Spelling and Grammar. If you want people to take you seriously, please learn to spell or use a spell checker, they're free.
All in all, I think you guys do a wonderful job. You moderate professionally. You offer, usually, at least one free game a week. It's hard to do if places like Big Fish, etc don't offer something up. So thank you for doing what you do and giving us an opportunity to play along.

Have to put in my two cents here. There is no law against censorship on the web. You run the website, you have the right to delete, edit, block etc anyone you want. Consider the website your own "country" and if you choose to censor someone, so be it! I have been both designer and moderator of many, many website and I know this for certain. The web reaches all over the world and one cannot be governed by one country's laws alone. Unless it is a federal or Interpol crime, such as pornography, you are not breaking any laws. So, censor away! :)

Yay! Love HO games and this one looks awesome! Downloaded and opened on Win7 Premium Home Edition with no issues at all. Played the first few scenes, which included 2 puzzles. Very good! The objects were fairly easy to find but some were pretty hard but out of, say, 10 items, maybe 2-3 are more difficult than the previous (which I hope gets harder as the game progresses but it won't ruin it for me if it stays at this difficulty level). The graphics are nice, but the people move strangely. LOL I will definitely enjoy this game. Thank you to everyone for bringing us these great free games!!

Apparently, once you're in a sequence, you are stuck until it finishes (yes, I saw the 'skip' button), but that all disappeared during the sequence I'm speaking of. Not amused. I usually like Alawar distributed games, but this one is aggravating. I also note that when I activated the game, it tried to phone home. It was NOT the setup/installation calling home (that is different), it was the game executable phoning home. To be sure, I went into my firewall and deleted the blocked entry for the game and started the game again - same result: the game executable phones home. Why does this game need the internet? Is this the reason the game gets stuck in a sequence? This game is gone from my machine. Thanks anyway GAOTD and Alawar, but I'll pass on this one. Thumbs down.

Well,
I got all excited when I saw your (WR) comment yesterday on the other page about a big game today. So got here only to find it is a game I have had for quite awhile. Oh well! :D I still have the game so it is definitely something I will play again. It's an okay game, not great, but not bad. Runs well on Win 7 Pro. I found that I agree with all your comments above on the game. I will delete the one I have and download this copy so I don't have to put up with that annoying browser popup when I close it up. So even though I already have it, today's download is still useful to me. Thank you!

I get an error when I try to extract the file for install, something about a pointer.

I downloaded it on Windows 7 64 bit, and no problems. I really like the game, but you seem to have to wait several seconds for the dialog to appear. Only complaint is that there are too many "locked" items on every hidden object scene.
I don't know what poster #2 is so angry about. Over 60% of the games I don't download because they aren't "my cup of tea", but I don't whine or complain, because I know that there will be plenty of folks that will like them. Hidden object games are my favorite.
