Sorry, I can't comment on the software because I won't be downloading or running it thanks to the excellent comments making it clear that this is not a game I would be interested in - That is extremely useful and appreciated.

Thank you, Amanda, for the great review. I felt like you did about a game everyone trashed, but didn't have the patience to download and try it myself.

Maybe it would be more responsive if one were to use 'Process Lasso'.

"Please comment only on the software here." And I suppose a lot of people just aren't reading or remembering this. Compliments however sincere they may be belong in the "forums". Not spamming here or on the original GAOTD. That's the very same problem with "Karl's" review today. Don't spam compliments there either. A reminder only.

Let me add my own opinion to the others.

In a word: this game stinks.

The graphics are blocky, the controls don't stay at what I set them to and are unresponsive, the action is laughable, and so on. Uninstalled after 3rd attempt to play; it makes me think a 5th grader coded it, and should never have been released as a "game", although it might make a "How (NOT) to Code a Game" object lesson.

Sorry, I hate to post a bad review here, but this is a bad review of a bad game. Don't bother, it's a complete waste of time IMO.
John

Hey, Wrascally Wabbit,

16th? OMG! how time flies. Make sure you tell Callum "Happy Birthday" from me...Give him a big hug..If he will let you.

I have the motherlode of a cold and my knee still throbs from my fall in August, so not even going to bother with the game.

Hopefully tomorrow's game is better.

Take care and hugs, Wabbit!

Thanks Delenn, You are right. I can't believe where the last 8 years have gone since I started to post on this site. It only seems like yesterday. There aren't many of the original posters left, at least those who still post comments. Most seem to have deserted the place for pastures new.

I remember mentioning both my kidsin my early reviews; (I've actually got four children, but two are grown up, one is 39 and the other is 35). My youngest were 6 and 8 when I first mentioned them here (I think), now they are 14 and 16. :)

Comodo reports a virus and wouldnt let me install it even after I marked it as safe - probably a false positive but given the poor reviews I decided not to fiddle around to install it - Pity though I liked the sound of the unlmited lives patch (I only enjoy games where I cant lose!)

Question: If the game is as bad as the reviews and the comments say it is why bother to offer it at all? Then to make matters worse there is an actual installation process. I might have tried it if I could have just unzipped it. But I am not willing to let it install who knows what onto my computer for a game not worth playing. Thank you for the effort and the offer but I will pass.

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I saw some comment in the comments section on here where they think Valve had something to do with this Giveaway. Sure it's on Steam but Strategy First is the publisher for this game on Steam and Steam has nothing to do with this Giveaway.

In regards to this game, while the visuals do look a little simplistic, they are not rough around the edges like some of the other games I've played that were very simple. The physics are very questionable as I feel like I don't have as much control over the action as I'd like but that's this game in a nutshell.

For those of you who cant run today's giveaway, You may have an older integrated Intel Graphics Chip which does not contain Hardware Pixel Shader or Vertex Shader support. There is a program out there called 3D Analyze that may allow this game to run on those systems that don't have the mentioned features, but its not guaranteed. Many computers today have at least Pixel Shader 2.0 support if not more in todays age of APU being embedded on the motherboard.

With that said, thanks for this Giveaway. I'm still playing the Frosty Splash and the other one that was given away last week, I think it was a nice present to have a game giveaway on Saturday and Sunday.

Raising my glass to GGOTD, to see some new and fun giveaways! Hopefully you can get Tree Card Games to repeat their Mahjong Giveaway or perhaps do a Solitaire one!

Hi Jason, according to the listings where all games not given away are listed, it says this game was donated by the Valve corporation.

Happy New Year WR. This is not my type of game, so I will be passing up on this one for right now. Looked at the comments on my Steam Account, and thought the same thing as others did. Now if Steam will give away some halfway decent RPGs, I would be very happy.

those two reviews you listed are better written/translated from Russian than the game is coded and everyone that has been reading those reviews know that is saying enough to avoid this game like a bad dissease. I actually found it on steam for 5 eurosand every review there is either giving it a thumbs up with a review atached that makes clear the thumbs up is actually sarcastic or a thumbs down with requests of money back, people buying this to give away to those they want to annoy and things like that. Took me about a minute to come to the same conclusion... really really really bad

Hi Whiterabbit

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year.

This game looks awful but I've had the most giggly morning watching some gameplay videos on Youtube. I won't post the links here because there is swearing in them, so they are not family friendly. The commentary by the gamers was hilarious though, despite the sweary Marys. Just knowing the name of the game was worth it for those videos. Don't think I'll be playing it though, the seasoned gamer frustration levels were firmly in the red and threatening to blow with this one.

Downloaded/installed fine on Vista 64-bit. There was a pop-up asking to install DirectX. I chose "no" and everything went fine.

Between the description ("Fast action 3D platform gaming with classic 2D gameplay!") and the screenshots provided, I wasn't going to download it, until Whiterabbit said everyone knocks it. Thought it'd be good for a laugh, and it was -- a short laugh :P

The default controls use the cursor/arrow keys, but can be changed to anything. I chose a more comfortable WASD control layout, but this game is a side scroller. Backward/forward is A/D and both W and S is the "prone" option.

The game does have a 3D-ish look with obstacles that appear toward the back and front of the walking path, but you only interact with the stuff in the front. I played only a few minutes of the first task, so my obstacles were landmines and people to stab. No gun.

I died several times while I figured out what to do. Landmines have to be jumped over, not walked around (it's not 3D). Run up to the machine gun guy before he starts shooting, or you die. For some reason I was being chased by a humvee and it seemed my only option was to run away from it, though a red crosshair appeared next to it. I don't know what that was, but I easily outran the vehicle. The view perspective changed for that part, but it was still a straight run.

Every time you die, you have to start over at the beginning. After I died in the fourth section and went back to the beginning, I gave up. It was all trial and error, at least that first part. It was all pretty easy, but going into a new section without knowing what "the challenge" was, you're almost sure to die the first time.

The best thing about the game was the whooshing sound when you jumped. I felt like Superman.

Anyway, it was ridiculously bad. It's almost a "so bad, it's good" game, but didn't quite get there. Oh well! We'll see what Sunday has to offer :)

LOL, those two reviews you linked are as bad as they describe this game to be; at times I had no idea what they were even saying (must be a translation of a translation of....). Somewhat more intelligible, though running the gamut from "great" to "horrible", are the comments at steam - http://store.steampowered.com/app/313210/.

But much like those old teen exploitation movies, or cheesy sci-fi movies, sometimes things are so bad you must see for yourself. I'm downloading this now.

I appreciate GOTD's efforts but I'd have to go along with the reviews - this game is poor and not worth the time or the disk space.

Another party today (my sons 16th) plus staying up too late for the past several days has left me exhausted. I didn't have the time to write a review for this game. Unfortunately this game gets a massive trouncing from virtually every review I've read about the game. You can check out a few via the folllowing links:

http://gamereviewgroup.com/game-review-operation-alpha-zylon/

If you do enjoy the game, but keep losing your lives you can get a trainer from Gamershell, that gives you unlimited lives.

I'll add s0me images and video later if get some time.

Happy New Year folks!

I won't be able to moderate for several hours from 2pm GMT. Will be back this evening
