My goodness! I feel like I brought George Carlin to a Care Bears picnic.

Well I am the so-called disgusting vile evil putrid immature cruel soul-crushing demon-spawn who left the comment that inspired the statement from whiterabbit that has the pitchfork-wielding mob in a fury. Maybe you can have a game called Jody the Troll and you can have fun putting my head on a pole.

While I regret that I have unintentionally wounded whiterabbits's feelings, the case being made that I have accused him of blatant criminal plagiarism of some kind is a misconstruing of my intentions. I didn't make my comment to just be some nasty evil troll and all the other names I have been called, and I did not call whiterabbit a plagiarist but I did say he was posting content from elsewhere that he could simply provide a link to. He has explained himself that he cuts and pastes from the developer's site, and the game description in his comment, for which he attributes credit. That is not plagiarism, nor was making an accusation of any sort the point of my original comment. The point of me saying to just leave a link to the redundant text is so it doesn't fill up such an enormous amount of space in the comment section, which is what I was having trouble with. But I am in the minority, so my objection is clearly overruled by the mob here.

The King's Bounty 2 comment from whiterabbit was about 12 pages long on my mobile device and 3 pages long on my high definition display. It's everything from installing the game to every little detail you can imagine. These little games can be downloaded, installed and tried out in a fraction of the time it takes to read through all that. Be that as it may I do not seek to diminish the reviewer's work, merely to suggest the placement of it in the comments section can be a hassle for some.

At this point I think I did whiterabbit a huge favor because it has resulted in a gigantic outpouring of praise and love from the community.

And I leave it at that, ironically a gigantic post.

.........................Moderators Comment...........................

You said:

"Stephe ‘whiterabbit’ that was uncalled for- posting that ridiculously huge review
from someone else’s site. Next time you can just leave a link to
The external review for the software, and whatever small comment
you have about the game in your own words."

Which implies (i.e. that was uncalled for- posting that ridiculously huge review
from someone else’s site.) that I copied virtually the whole of the review from someone else. The introduction that I copy is usually only a paragraph long and only a small part of the full review. The review has evolved from a very short opinion to include all the sundry information that you mentioned because of requests from the community. The download link is above the review section so theres no need to bother scrolling, just download the game; and if you want to read some of the other shorter comments, then scroll past mine. :) There really is no need to get personal. I'm sorry that the community reacted so, though it was heart warming to know that there are supporters out there in cyber space. :)

Live long and Prosper (reference Star Trek) lol

No problems downloading or installing. Fun little game. I like the rocket concept to add a little complication to the physics. Thanks for another nice game!

Dual activation. Does it mean that I can't save the "activation file" to install the game later?

.................Moderator Comment........................

Sorry Joel, no, it means it's a set up file that self activates as opposed to a seperate set up file and activation key. Once the 24 hour period is over the wrapper locks the setup file and the activation will no longer work.

Thank you all commentators for the input and support you gave to WhiterabbitUK, he truly is valued for his knowledgable reviews for games. I personally would not download before reading his feedback.

For me I do not believe that this "unmentionable" person did not know how valued Whiterabbit's comments are. So with such a negative mind, why not ACCUSE someone of an act that would be considered, WRONG. In my opinion I see intent on "unmentionable's" part. Whether or not there is conscious awareness, does not always define intent. In psychology there is a term used for active aggression, Passive-Agressive Disorder. I can see how this phrase(term) fits "unmentionable's" behavior.

Sorry Whiterabbit that you were verbally attacted. All of us commentator's who visit GOTD, spoke truthfully of your value to us.

Re: White Rabbit's reviews.

I KNOW the HUGE amount of time and effort WR puts into writing his reviews, given that I do some for the free games forum http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/forum/17 as well as WR et al.

It takes an immense amount of work to find some of the games in the first place, and sometimes they have very few or occasionally no proper reviews, which means playing the game, sometimes obtaining and posting actual gameplay screenshots, then writing an off-the-cuff review. Takes me many many hours of my time!

For my part I always put copied sections in quotes and I can absolutely vouch for WR's integrity and that WR would indicate if any work was not his own work! Anyone SHOULD be able to tell from WR's reviews here on the GAOTD site the hours and hours of work WR puts into these reviews! They mostly well outshine what I could write! We love ya WR!

Since being on the net since 1994, I have seen a lot. You learn to ignore the naysayers/trolls. They usually have no life of their own and never have the guts to respond. They just enjoy stirring the pot.
Group hug for the Wrascally Wabbit.

As for the game...I love it. So cartoony and cute...... Another physics/action/reaction game. Now to tell those "filthy humans" to get off my "sticky lawn". and "blast them back to that crap hole they call earth"!

......................Moderator comment.......................

Thanks Delenn, normaly I wouldn't have bothered to respond, but the past few months have been rather fraught with problems and I've not been myself, so felt like letting off steam. I usually do that by playing violent games, but even those have not appealed to me of late.

Hi, Idahl and the other friends who couldn't buy the games.

Often/mostly you can download those browser games from e.g. the links WR posted in # 31 (or any other site with online flash games).
Go to the GOTD Forums "Games Discussion" -> "Free Browser Games - Synopsis" there you'll find "The Q&A section" where g@rgoyle has compiled facts and tools for downloading flash games.

Sorry, that this description is so complicated, a direct link would have been the common way, but comments with links often just fall into the spam-bin.

Oh, not to forget, thanks to GGOTD and Wheemplay for this great puzzle and WR for the competent review.
I really like all the games Wheemplay gave us - however, it would be cool, if they could also be a reliable business-partner for their clients.

Dear @WhiterabbitUK,

I want you to know how thankful I am all these years reading your detail and interesting reviews before I decide to download the games. If you really 'did' that(being accuse of stealing info), why get such accusation till now? I am 1000% believe in you and will 10000% continue to support you. You ROCK! :)Take care!Btw, last week's game was very addictive, I play till midnight and 'forgot' to post my review ...LOL(but did click thumb up though). Thanks again.

To that 'dude' that 'slander' you,
If you have the proof that he was 'stealing' some other site's info to post here, please 'kindly' give us the link and date of posting on his/her site to prove it before open your 'mouth' to accuse other.

thank you Noname, what MMO's do you play??? I like online, but tend to steer clear of MMO's partly through bad experiences several years ago while playing america's army. I have Lord of the Rings, but haven't subscribed since finishing the initial 30 days. I tend to play games like Left 4 Dead, ArmA II and a few other games with small group of friends rather than going online and taking pot luck. Met too many unsavory players who just spoil the experience. Maybe i'm being too cautious.

Your reviews are always spot on, and I also have looked at other sites and found your reviews there - most of the time with proper attribution to you. Keep up the good work! Don't let one idiot get you down, just consider the source - he is obviously not playing with a full deck.

@WhiterabbitUK, re: post 4

Your reviews are great. One cannot "plagiarise" specifications and I cannot think of a single exception.

Your reviews are definitely independently written and not copped from anywhere else on the net.

I've been attacked as well for comments I've left elsewhere on the net. Innocent and truthful comments mind you. The conclusion is there are a lot of "dark entities" out there and we can only pray they mend their ways - before it's too late for them.

Please keep up the good work and ignore the thoughtless.

Cheers!

Thank you Whiterabbit for talking me into dl/ing this game. I really like it, from the charming graphics to the music, sounds and smooth gameplay. I want to get Mechanisms3, but after reading comments here I'm afraid to try. Has anyone had luck getting their games for .99?

........................moderator comment............................

I was hoping that a rep from Wheemplay would put in an appearance. It's such a shame that some have had problems. no ones come forwards to counter these issues with story's of positive purchases, so i'd be very wary. the good think is you can still play Mechanism 3 for free as it's available on several flash based game sites. you just won't have a hard copy:

Fun game. Thanks too to WR for reviews, always a treat to read.
Game is cartoony style physics format. Clever twist on popular theme.
Make shortcut for the one exe file. Win 7 32x.
More Games leads to old directory layout of a few of their games.
The hints do help for first few levels.
One prob about the ? button in upper right corner to lead to hints on higher levels. That > and the Walkthrough from Main Menu lead to this error:

Whiterabbit, you have nothing to apologize for. You are the one who took up the challenge of writing comprehensive reviews of these games, and providing us, via the blog, with games for when there are none available. It is a monumental task you have undertaken for no pay, and if you get miffed about a thoughtless and unresearched comment by a pinhead, you have every right to say something.
Professor Von Drake in comment 14 showed that your reviews are by no means exclusive to this page, and I wholeheartedly believe that the person who insulted you saw one of these reviews.
I'm glad you aren't holding a grudge, and am doubly glad to have you here doing what you do for us.

Regarding #3 Nick Katz and Wheemplay. I too attempted to purchase a game from their site as I had missed the give away. $.99 for a game, I'll try it. Not good. It's a dual download activation package with both files encrypted. Not one of the download links for activation produce results. Only when I threatened legal action did Plimus respond with an immediate refund. NOTE on Plimus: At the order page you are pointed to a "download guarantee" for $4.95 (price might be off it's been a while) to ensure safe delivery of your product. Since I had screen shots of the entire process and the "guarantee" they refunded my $.99 and, as they told me, deleated all record of the transaction. Wheemplay never answered. Please post this advisory.

....................Moderator Comment.......................

Thanks for the info. Wheemplay need to get their act together and repond to these posts otherwise they won't be getting many customers. It's a pity that they have taken this stance because virtually all of the games they have given away are of a good quality and very playable. The price is outstanding, so why they choose to ignore and seemigly rip off customers makes no sense. Give us some feedback Wheemplay..........!

I love these little, deceptively simple, puzzle games. I much prefer having to think before blasting beings to smithereens, rather than doing it mindlessly. ;D Thanks Wheemplay and GGOTD.

#6. Gameplay is saved automatically on Wheemplay games. It's also simple enough to move these standalone games, along with their score, to another computer - I move mine to an old laptop that is without internet connection - but this isn't the place to explain how.

Unfortunately i have no say in what is posted. It may be repeated sometime in the future, but when i can only guess. The developer Rake in Grass do return every once in a while. You could get it via Steam over the Christmas period for virtually nothing. It is worth keeping your eyes open for sale items. Especially over holiday periods. Steam will probaly be having a slae over the Easter period, when you will probably get it for a few dollars at most. At the moment it's about $5

You alone are the only reason I continue to remain a member of both of these websites. I usually check the forums and the games GOTD pages most weekends but am afraid I am a rather lurker when it comes to posting comments. Whilst I am always grateful to GOTD for finding us free games, they are not always to my taste and even when they are I often have nothing useful to add to the comments apart from the fact I have downloaded it and enjoy it. However, I always read Whiterabbit's comments. I also read the free games posts at the forums (with grateful thanks to him and his wonderful colleagues for finding some wonderful gems). I believe I recognise his writing style after all these years and there is no way I can believe he has been plagiarising! Whiterabbit in particular has enthused me to try games I would not have otherwise tried and to play others I would not have found. Thanks to all who help me have wonderful games on my PC :)

@Mods ~ I am not sure you will allow this comment or not, but I wanted to show my support as a small way of giving something back. I do not feel the need to hijack this thread so am hoping Whiterabbit can read this and feel that there is no need to post it, as I do not want the game developer to be put off sharing games in future *winks*

Stephen, no matter what length the comment was which was posted, the last time I looked, there was no one holding a gun forcing everyone to read it all!

It's extremely easy to skip anything on a website! If this person wants help in that regard, I'd be happy to tutor them in how to skip posted forum content, as they obviously have severe difficulties with it.

I would sooner have too much information posted than too little. I can always scroll to whatever I feel is relevant and skip other sections. Plus why should we go to another site via some link, when we can get all the information here?

I've never seen you plagiarize any other content over all of the years you have been here posting reviews. Keep up the good work and ignore the trolls. 8)

Happy to see another GGOTD entry. This one is another offered by Wheemplay, who so far, I have to respect their ease of installing/uninstalling. My only problem with them is that I can't save my progress.

I don't know if I can save my progress on this one or not; only played for 2 minutes. I think you're supposed to place turning points so the missile will get to the man in the spacesuit...? Inside of 2 minutes it didn't seem easy to do.

I think this is another game that's easy to check out & decide later. I've kept less than half of the Wheemplay stuff I've tried. But there are 3 or 4 that I love.

Strategy game, if I can succeed, I'll keep the game. If not...

@Whiterabbit

Please let one negative comment not bring you down. Your usefull and estensive reviews of the games are the main attraction for me to use Game Giveaway of the Day.

Carry on your good work and thanks very much for all the reviews you did in the past.

Thank you. It only annoyed me for a short while. However I did feel that I should answer the person as I'm sure they will visit again today. I just hope they have the decency to reply to my post above and apologise, but I doubt that will happen. ;)

Please excuse the following, I was quite upset to read a particular post from last week’s game (Kings smith 2) giveaway comment section that was posted on Tue 29th March, where one community member has accused me of plagiarising someone else’s review of last Saturdays game giveaway.

The following is what they posted:

Stephe 'whiterabbit' that was uncalled for- posting that ridiculously huge review
from someone else's site. Next time you can just leave a link to
The external review for the software, and whatever small comment
you have about the game in your own words.

To that person (no names mentioned) all my reviews are written by myself. The only part of the review that's copied is the introduction which I usually take from the developer’s site and always reference it to show that it's not my work. I also sometimes use images that I've found on the net, but only if I’m having problems taking any of my own screen captures (some games wont let me use the capture devices that I use), but more often than not I create my own images where possible.

Before you post such accusations please get your facts right. You couldn't even post the link that you purport to have found that implies that I’ve copied the review. It's almost certain that if you did find the very same review elsewhere that it is they who have copied the review from me via the game giveaway comments section or maybe from the forums (because I sometimes post the review there as well) I’ve found my reviews posted on a lot of other sites over the last few years that I’ve been doing this.
One of our own community members has set up a site where all my reviews can be found.. They have acknowledged that the reviews are mainly mine via the introduction to the aim of the site, but the actual reviews look like they have been posted by someone else because they have copied my reviews then posted them on the site.

The lst time Wheemplay offered a game I also bought one on their web site. Except I never got a download link and they did not respond to repeated email requests for help. Finally had to go through Plimus which couldn't get an answer from the developer either and refunded my money. It took two weeks screwing around with them to get my crummy 99 cents back. I like their games but won't ever deal with Wheemplay again.

Thanks for the info nick. Lets hope they respond to this post , at least with an apology and a reason for not contacting you.

Alien Rocket Wars
Installation:

Today’s game downloads to a 8.04Mb zip file that unpacks to a read me and a dual activation and set up module. The game installs to C:\Games directly as an flash executable with no folder. The installed game is 7.63Mb in size. There is no shortcut installed so you will have to create your own. If you want to uninstall the game just delete the executable. There are no registry keys created.

I’ve tested it on win XP Pro 32 bit, Vista Home Premium 64 bit and Win 7 Pro and Ultimate 64 bit platforms and there were no problems in any of them. Works fine.

Introduction:

Filthy humans have landed on your beautiful slimy planet, destroy them for bringing their filth on to your sticky lawn. Blast them back to that hole they call earth!

Features:

• Blasters and rockets!
• 30 incredibly addictive levels with different approaches
• Achievements and highscores
• Highscores and awards
• Works in Win XP, Vista and Win 7

The Game:
The aim of the game is to kill the invaders from earth. To do this you have to place repelling and attracting magnets in specific positions ; (these are dragged from the bar at the bottom part of the playing arena) . The position of the magnets changes the trajectory of the rockets that you’re firing at the earthlings. You can adjust the positions of the magnets during game play by clicking on the edit button. This pauses the game and enables you to reposition the magnets which will then change the trajectory of the rockets. There is a video of the game play which I’ve linked to below. There is access to walkthroughs via the ? button or from the main menu as well as instructions for playing the game, and an achievements button. There is no options menu, but you can turn off music and sound effects via the toggle buttons to the top right of the game screen. The game starts in windowed mode. If you want to play in full screen just click on the button to the top right of the window. You can also turn the game off via the X button or minimize via the – button. You can access the main menu at any time during game play.

Images:
You can see a slide show of screen captures via the following link:

Conclusion:

This is a decent puzzle game using magnets to change the trajectory of a missile. Alien Rocket Wars is easy to pick up but hard to put down. The graphics are simple and cartoon like, but for me that’s what makes this game so appealing. It’s well worth a download in my opinion. For its simplicity and ease of playing I would score Alien Rocket Wars 7.5 out of 10. It would be nice to see a levels editor so that you could create your own levels. The most disappointing thing about this game apart from the lack of a levels editor is that there is only 30 levels to play. Most of Wheemplay games come with a levels editor so I was surprised not to see one included with this game. Still, for free what is there to complain about. :)

Get it while it's available. the giveaway ends at 12 midnight Pacific time, 8am GMT, 1am Mountain time, 3am Eastern time
