Yes this is a typical Toomky game that will give you a not compatible on 32 bit machines error, but if you go into the game folder and click on the icon marked Game instead of the one with the name of the game - Alice's Patchwork etc. - the game will open properly. You'll have to go into the properties of your start menu and desktop shortcut icons and change them to Game, or, more easily, delete them and make your own by: right clicking on the Game icon, clicking create shortcut as many times as you need, and move those shortcuts to those 2 positions - and even the quick launch section of the task bar, if you want to go that far. The easier way to send to the desktop is to just click "send to" on the right click menu and click the option desktop.

This has an untimes relaxed mode, also left handed support, so 2 good features, and it has accomplishments, which adds a little extra challenge/variety, but it's a standard mosaic game after that. Your enjoyments mainly going to be based on whether you like these simple jigsaw, and whether you enjoy the artwork. Happy gaming.

Thanks GGOTD and Toomky.

6 Steam reviews. All but one good. And another by a curator that said that the game was most appropriate for ages 4-6, with parental help, though that last phrase makes me think it would be better for slightly older children. The 1 negative review said that World 6 was missing (Level 6?). 1 positive review did mention, and showed, that some of these pictures are of the faces of young girls/women done up in a slightly macabre style of makeup. Though I also checked Big Fish and the reviews were just OK. Going to try it myself because I've seen these games before marked 64 bit that will play fine on 32 bit, so folks with older machines might want to give it a try. Will report on that shortly, though, very sorry, it's getting late. Got distracted today.

Installed and works fine in Win10HomeX64. Language choices are English, French, German and Russian. There are 2 modes, timed and relaxed. Functions similarly to the other mosaics given away here in the last few months just in the "Alice in Wonderland" theme. Complete puzzles to move on, win trophies, etc. There is a video over at the Steam link above.

Thank you to the Toomky and GGOTD teams!

Alice's Jigsaw Time Travel is a digital jigsaw like puzzle/mosaic game with enjoyable whimsical music. It was released December 29th, 2020 and has never been given away before on GOTD. The gameplay is very similar to Alice's Patchwork 1 (given away in January 2023 which I rated C+) &2 and if you have it might want to play that one first.

There are 100 different colored puzzles to solve with 10 hours of gameplay. Each puzzle image is made from many fragments. You will get a handful of already assembled pieces on each picture, and it's up to you to complete the rest until you get a full image. But it's not as simple as it sounds like a jigsaw puzzle. In the normal mode, you have a time limit and only some of the missing pieces you can grab are showing, which means that you will need to place one of the pieces for the next piece to show up and take its place. In a normal jigsaw puzzle you would have access to all pieces. And further the digital pieces that you can currently select are not shown full size until you select one so its unfortunately not always easy to judge where a piece might fit unless you select it sometimes unlike jigsaw pieces.

To earn all three keys which also unlock subsequent worlds, you must fully assemble the fragmented picture, complete the level without a mistake by placing the fragment in the wrong location, and complete the task within a specific time limit. Assembling the right pieces in the right places or other game mechanics that are timed in other games against a ticking counter can be stressful to some...however there is a left-hand mode as well as a Relaxed mode in options that automatically gives you the other keys besides the one to complete, and points for finishing the level, no matter how long it takes you to finish the puzzle and no timer which is thoughtful. So in that mode the game doesn't give you a penalty or make you feel bad if you do make a mistake or take a very long time to complete it and you can always go back to play any puzzle you've already completed if you feel like re-attempting.

In first levels it seems really easy of course with just a few missing pieces, but when you get to more complicated paintings it becomes really hard. You get a free hint to show where to place a piece - additional hints cost coins you earned, as well as being able to extend the timer by another 30 seconds when its low. As a hint at the end of a level, choose the three line icon which will go to the level select so you can see the photo of the upcoming image.

There is plenty here to keep those who enjoy the puzzle genre happy. I liked the Alice's Patchwork titles slightly more as the images were using Alice in Wonderland themed images while nothing here really resembles the lovely fantasy of Wonderland and the texturing used on the images based on real people doesnt work as well in this version, and therefore probably going to keep those rather than this since I dont play these type of mosaic games as often as some other types of games.

Rating: C-

Suggestions: It would be wonderful to see the finished puzzle without all the lines, maybe even export to be used as wallpaper. Show the finished picture for 5 seconds starting a level...then it disappears to the play screen with only the partial pieces in place. Sometimes pieces I have no idea where they may go since I never saw the pic before unless I left to the levels screen. Allow size of piece to be shown full size when hovering over the piece in the ribbon rather than having to select it.

If you like these type of puzzle games, Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime was one of the many free alternative giveaways listed on the giveawayoftheday forums from a nice series of digital puzzles, so keep a watch there or subscribe to the two threads to get notifications as new ones seem to be added frequently.

Hello Everyone! I just downloaded the files. Then I extracted the files. Then I ran the setup file. However, it first shows the 'Activating' dialogue box and then it comes up saying it's been activated. There was previously the install process that happened between those 2 steps but it is no longer there. The same thing happened with a download from this site last weekend. Anyone else now finding the install process has disappeared from these giveaways? Prior to this I had no problem downloading, activating and installing any games

PierceD'Orff, Antivirus is probably causing this. Turn off antivirus during install.

PierceD'Orff,
Have you remembered to copy the setup.gcd file to the installation folder where you installed the exe file ?

The most common reason for not seeing the game setup and just seeing the activated is that your security software/anti virus is blocking it from running due to the game-giveaway wrapper .gcd file, which contains Themida code. This code is also known to hide malware which might be an issue downloading from unknown random sites, but for GOTD games, the wrapped contents inside are absolutely safe. Unfortunately some anti-malware suites will still block the installation as a safety precaution, and in some cases will even delete the games executable.

The easiest way to fix is to just redownload the game package, temporarily turn off all your security software, most likely the antivirus until the game has been installed and then turn it back on. Some can let you disable for 10 mins for example, others just do it manually. Other options are to whitelist the giveaway wrapper setup.gcd file so you dont continue to have the issue each time, then install, or reboot in safe mode with networking, then install the game, then reboot.

If the game installs but doesnt run, this is a separate issue specific to each game, sometimes fixed by reinstalling direct x first which can happen with some older games like frozen kingdom last week, then reinstall and rerun the game after. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35/

Also with older toomky games you may find installing them outside the normal windows protected folders it defaults to works better such as C:\Games instead which will also prevent some issues with saving in some titles. Otherwise commenters may comment on a specific game such as compatibility settings but that may be only needed for a very specific game. The main moderator is taking a well deserved vacation so comments may not show up right away such as until the next morning temporarily.

PierceD'Orff,

The installation was completely normal for me. Maybe your firewall/security interfered with the installation?

Thanks for the game GAOTD!

PierceD'Orff,

In my experience, that occurs due to your anti-virus seeing a conflict. It always happened to me when I was using Avast. Try pausing your anti-virus before installing and see if that works. However, unless you recently changed your anti-virus, I cannot explain why it worked for you up until now. I hope that helps.

PierceD'Orff, hi .
As Whiterabbit-uk would say , temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall
and then install the game .
That should solve the problem .
If you get the "not a valid Win 32 app" error , you should navigate to the
installation folder and use the "game.exe" to run the game .
That will bypass the error .
That's all I've got for now , given the fact that I don't know what Operation
System (O.S) you use .
I am still using Windows XP .
I've just installed the game and it works just fine .
My PC specs are :

Windows XP Pro 32bit , Intel Core2Duo E8500 3,20Ghz ,
4 Gb memory (DDR 2) , NVIDIA GeForce GTX460 768Mb .

Can't say a thing about the game .
I've just play it for 2 minutes , just to see if it works .
I will try to play it some more and come back to report .

PierceD'Orff, I assume you also mean the game never installs?? In the past when this happened to me, it was actually that my antivirus program blocked the setup program from actually running and completing its job. Was never a problem with the game itself, but there is something that my (and apparently several other) antivirus programs do not like about the wrapper that encloses the setup program. (I use Avast). Only solution I've found is to temporarily turn off my antivirus program. Note that for Avast at least, I only need to disable it until the 1st (real) prompt from the installation comes up (eg, the "what language do you want" or "where do you want to store the game" dialog box). I can then re-enable my antivirus program, so at least do not need to leave it off until the installation completes. Doesnt allow it to work on the specific game install, but at least it continues working for anything else that may be going on on my computer. I always then scan the game before I run it, but have never had any complaint from the antivirus program, so apparently it really is just something it doesnt like about the wrapper and not the end result.

Disable your anti virus and try again?

PierceD'Orff, the most probable cause is a recent update to your antivirus has now stared detecting GOTD files as malware. Try disabling your a/v while downloading and installing and see if that works.
