Two weeks later, I am still playing this game. Just a little bit each evening, and I really enjoy it. Flaws and all, it's definitely the most entertaining and original hidden object game that I've ever played.

Highly recommended.

I haven't played on my PC yet - my wife has played it twice, and she was able to finish India and Egypt, but it would crash when she went to the third spot. So sad.

This game was very enjoyable. It played well. There was an element of spoon feeding, but I enjoy that as I like a casual game. I liked the speed at which the hint button regenerated. Some of the objects were hard to find, but that was okay. Well done. Played on Windows 7, 64 bit. It made me want to get the sequel!

I also have experienced a lot of glitches. Now I flew to my last known city and it crashed after landing the plane and everytime I try to start again, it crashes. It is frustrating. I was so close to completing it!

I know I have done a lot of wrongs in my life; So this game is like a fantasy to me. I can never be someone special like Alexander The Great! However, I am happy to be a nobody. At least I have a real family. We might not be popular, but at least we have each other. Thank you God for all your help! After 3 years or so I just lost a friend who I thought I would end up marrying to another guy. They are married now and I am happy for them. You know what they say, when God closes one door another one openes.

Dodgy voice acting aside, this is easily one of the best hidden object games I've ever played. I love the graphics, and find the hidden object scenes and mini-games quite engaging and intuitive. I enjoy the way the game allows you to explore locations freely, but is willing to tell you that it's time to move on if you ask. The story line is totally implausible - just as it should be in this type of adventure game! The speaking animations are indeed bizarre, but this adds a nice chuckle factor. I've never played a game quite like this one before, and that counts for a lot. Thanks for this fun game, Playrix and GGOTD.

PS Hope you're feeling much better now, Stephen. :)

Very glitchy game, but not until you're half way through. I went to India, and the game would crash every time I would take a (mandatory) picture of a clue. When I couldn't progress any longer in that country I went to Uzbekistan and it was even worse there.... the game wouldn't crash when I took a picture, but it wouldn't register that I had the image (needed to proceed) but it wouldn't let me see the item again either (I'm talking about the letters on the wall of the second chamber where the rope and hook are found, for those familiar with the game). So basically I'm stuck. It won't even let me leave that country. I can't go forward, I can't go backwards, I can't play anymore. Pity, it was a fun game.

Took about an hour to download for me (yesterday). No problem, I just wandered off and did something else.

Unusual situation: I usually like games less well than the Gamezebo reviewers do, but this one I like more. However, I would also like the option of a female main character.

Feel better soon, Rabbit, and thanks for the heads-up about next week!

@ #10 Downloaded it in half an hour and deinstalled after 10 minutes. A childish search-game – not more. Shame about the 468MB and the time.

well the size of the game its not big for the beautiful graphics that has got, other games like LoL have about 8gb size and some others even more, as for the childish gameplay i inform you that the games usualy developed for childrens not for middle-aged.

@ #55 Why is this game 468 mb here and only 1 mb on Amazon? Surely GOTD doesn’t need 467 mb for their part! I LOVE Hidden Object games, but some explanation would be nice for such a huge difference in file size.

the 1mb installer is an online installer that means that when you click install through it, will also download the 468mb of the game the time you click install. there is no game in 1mb file size, at least not a modern game, maybe some very old or with very low graphics.

I finally was able to get a complete download file - went to install -- but now it is bringing up a box that giveaway of the day has encountered a problem and needs to close so I am unable to install and there is not enough time for me to try to DL again Thanks for offering the game though

.................................Moderator Comment........................

Sorry to hear you had problems. It's too lae now, but, if this ever occurs again, so long as you start a download befoe the giveaway ends, you'll still be able to complete the download and depending how long after the end of the giveaway, you may still be able to activate it as the activation server doesn't close straight away. (Usually a couple of hours later).

Finished with Alexander the Great. Loved the game. There were a variety of mini games and the graphics were beautiful. One thing I liked was that you could gather things and do things that would only matter later. I have run into a number of games that only let you accomplish one task at a time and make you go back and forth to do it.

I didn't notice the download time as I poked around on other things on my computer and came back to it later. Seemed to install quickly. I only had to resort to a walkthrough once, which is atypical for me (stuck in India with no water-needed to fly to somewhere else before I could move forward).

I did have to a bit of trouble with how callus our main character was; taking things from a museum, smashing ancient artifacts, locking jellyfish in a jar and not letting them out again, etc. I know it is a game but it kept breaking the suspension of disbelief. I decided it ran on dream logic and that worked.

Thanks Ggaotd! It was a delightful game.

I am a huge HOG person but this game is more than that theme. WOW with the puzzles you have an option to complete or fast forward with... I just had to figure each one out before advancing. The graphics are great and people complaining about hard to find objects in the HOG parts are not die hard HOG and they want to find all objects in record non-looking time. Sit back and relax and enjoy the game. There is no time limit so relax and think your way through the game. Yes on some levels you have to go back a level to find the tools you need and on other levels you have to advance and go back to find the tools you need. When you first arrive at a scene look around with your mouse and see if anything pops up or changes to let you know that an interaction needs to take place.
I am in love with this game because it makes you think and WORK... it is not a game that just advances you when you have completed a single task but makes you look around the game and figure out what to do.

#4: You have to "rearrange" things in the drawer to get the knife. Use the compass (hints) when you get stuck or do not know what to do next. It recharges rather quickly. Same to find the HO scenes. There's a little too much going back and forth for me, but otherwise a solid game. Dislike the adverts on the phone. Like the fact the game takes screenshots along the way so you do not have to take notes. Some issues w/ what they call some of the hidden objects, which necessitate using the compass (or blind clicking.) Not having the dialog move to quickly, quite the opposite. but you can replay it or see it in your smartphone if you miss it.

Hope you feel better, WR. Came back after playing after a while, just to look for unanswered questions. :)

Well worth the download. At first i saw all the negative remarks and wondered if it was worth the trouble of downloading. Yes it is a fantastic search game. It is NOT childish. Being 61 i found nothing childish. To open drawers you search for a key. This is one of the best search games i have across in a long long time. I downloaded the game and found myself 5 hours later having a hard time quitting. I rate this game as Thumbs Up definitely. Thanks for a Great Game.:)

Hope you're feeling better soon, Whiterabbit. It's very nice of you to take the time and effort to find this for us and still research it and give us links about it. I'm looking forward to playing it. Alexander the Great is one of my favorite characters from history. AND - he was the 1st person to own a wristwatch. It was a small hourglass tied around his wrist with cloth. They called it Alexander's Rag Time Band. (Sorry.) {No I'm not.} [nevermind] ~ML

This is a very nice mystery-type game. Hidden objects are only a part -- there are plenty of other puzzles, too. It has the high graphic quality of other Playrix games, but the hidden objects are more hidden, placement is less intuitive, and the backgrounds are visually more "busy" than is usual with Playrix. It's a bit visually challenging on my laptop; I'll try it on my bigger monitor later.

Thank you, GGOTD! and thank you, Playrix, for providing so many good games here. I have bought several Playrix games after getting similar ones here.

Whiterabbit, I hope you feel much better very soon! And I hope this is a passing thing and that your general health is good -- you've had an awfully challenging last few months. Living in a house while floors and things are being finished is no picnic -- we're looking forward to our next room of that in the near future. All the best, and thanks as always for your kind hostly moderation here.

Very sorry to hear that you are poorly and I hope you get better very soon.

I've played about 20 minutes of the game and am enjoying it. I agree with Fran's comments (no. 28) - I'm another HOG junkie and really cannot understand some of the comments by the Gamezebo reviewer. I don't like my hand held in HOGs - in fact, I was slightly surprised to find that one item that I'd not found particularly quickly in this game did light up (although it had given me a reasonable time before it did so).

Something that really baffles me with the Gamezebo review is its rather scathing comment about the voice acting. Surely HOG game players aren't expecting Oscar standards?! Anyway, I haven't objected to it.

It's certainly a large file that took some time to download, but so far the graphics have made up for that. As with all Playrix games, they are very clear and colourful. I love the attention to detail in the bits I've played.

@#4 move the objects around in the drawer by pressing mouse button down and move them. Click on the knife. It's added to your inventory.
Graphics are acceptable. Not bad. Played a while and seems to be a keeper. D/L capped at 300k/sec. Takes about a half hour to d/l.

Get well soon Stephen!

As for the game I feel for those on dial-up. In case we didn't notice any simmilarities between this and the Mystery of Mortlake Mansion, we are reminded about them in one of the first screens. My problem with the Mystery of Mortlake Mansion is I got stuck with the clock, where I'm supposed to set the right time, but the dots flash so quickly and the hands move so stupidly that I can't do it before they flash again. I hope this game is playable at least. One novelty I noticed is you have to move some stuff on the screen to uncover what you have to pick up. I like HOGs and am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, even if they have some language problems or the plot is needlessly long or stretched.

Re: Comment #31 -- I found some instructions on how to adjust the game speed. Type "devdebug" while the game is running, then try the following to change the speed: (Ctrl goes faster, shift goes slower)

Ctrl/Shift + 0-7: Change game speed
0: 0x (freeze)
1: 1x (normal)
2: 2x
3: 4x
4: 8x:
5: 16x
6: 32x
7: 64x

So if you wanted to try half-speed, you'd push shift+2. 1/8 speed would be shift+4. I don't think it changes the speech, so it wouldn't help with the narrator unless there are captions... but it should get everything else.

Hi Stephen,

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly, and hope you are better soon.

Despite the less than enthusiastic linked review, I think this looks like a pretty good game based on the linked videos. However, I'm choosing not to download as the past two weeks have been insane since my husband has been in the hospital after crashing the second of our two cars in a week's time, and likely will not get out for a couple more weeks at least. So I have been busy running back and forth, taking care of our critters including a dog who needed surgery, being stranded at the hospital for two days because of snow, and just trying to manage everything, and this on top of his ongoing cancer treatment and preexisting medical issues and our financial woes. Are we having fun yet?

I appreciate GGOTD, Stephen and the game companies for all their work to continue to offer us these distractions, and I will check back next weekend to see what comes in then.

Best wishes to all the community,
Cara
