Really sorry about the lack of a full review for this game. circumstances prevented me from completing the review in time. I've added some images, but really don't have time to write up a review for the game. I do recommend this game to both the casual player and those who love match threes. there's some hidden depths to the game that may surprise some. :)

Akhra: The Treasures

In Brief

A match three with different modes of play, mini games, a workshop and some hidden extras. Well worth the effort.

Suggestions:
If you like or don't like today's game please give some feedback detailing why you like or don't like the game. How it could be improved from your point of view . If you don't like this genre at all, explain why. There are still thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want top see something with more originality?

If you miss today's game giveaway you can always get the game via MyPlayCity (MPC) 24/7 HERE. The only difference between the main MPC download and today's game giveaway is that some of the 'annoyances' such as check boxes have been removed. The game still opens your browser to MPC's home page whenever you close the game down. the reason for this is becasue MPC have to pay the owners of the games for being allowed to give then away for free. Every time your browser is redirected to MPC's home page MPC earns cash, some of which goes to the developer.

The game downloads to a 76.7 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper), the set up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives are able to save the giveaway's on any drive they wish. The installed game is 77 MB. The game installs to the following path by default,:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Akhra - The Treasures

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and a free online game which seems to change everytime I install for example Imperia Online, Big Farm Online, Stormfall Online, or Klondike Online). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

Introduction:

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MyPlayCity for giving away Akhra: The Treasures minus the checkboxes and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for providing a safe environment to download free games.

Useful Information:
The problems section that used to be posted here with the weekly game reviews is now included in the Game Discussion FAQ's thread; which you can find HERE. It topgether with some other sections were removed to cut diwn on the length of the review, which some community members found irritatingly long winded. :)

I've updated the games section that used to be posted with the review. The thread is now called 'Weekly round up of game deals', formerly the games section of the weekly reviews. You can find the new thread (which I've posted in the sticky section of the game discussion forums to make it easier to find if you are perusing the game discussion forums) HERE.

The latest free game over on Origin is still Nox.

You can get it HERE. Please note that you do require the Origin game platform to be able to download and install the game. uPlay were giving away Rayman:Origins last week. not sure if it's still available, but if it is, you'll get it HERE. Apparently, uPlay are now following Origins lead and giving away a game every so often.

If today's game wasn't to your liking, you may find other games either free or for less than the price of a cup of coffee (from your favorite coffee house) via the 'Weekly Roundup of Game Deals' thread which I've posted a link to above, or HERE.

I've not forgotten the keys I owe to some community members. Because of my computer woes, the list of keys I have were locked away. Now that my main computer is now working hopefully I'll be emailing those keys to you very soon, (finally). If you think you have a key coming for commenting on a game back in June, please remind me over in the game discussion forums, and mention the comment you made, thank you. I want to make sure i've given out all of the keys I promised. Hopefully, once I've cleared those up i'll offer more keys as there's still quite a long list in the thread I posted in the Game discussion forums.

I'd like to to give a massive thank you to Whizzy or Mavadelo (his Steam name), who has created a review site for me. I am talking to him via Team Speak over the coming weeks while he tutors me in the ins and outs of the site. The site won't go live right away as I want to post lots of game reviews. It will be a combination of arcade and AAA game reviews, some old and some new, divided into appropriate genres. We intend avoiding any advertising, so the site should be safe to peruse without worrying about clicking on links that may send you to rougue sites or ad's. I will also try to post reviews of new releases. At least those that I purchase and we intend to include a free games section as well as regular game giveaways, though not like here as the games will be coming from my own personal stock of spare game codes. Most will be Steam codes, but I also have hundreds of other codes for Itch.io, Origin, UPlay and others. Although the site is nowhere near ready, you can now check it out HERE, thought there's not much to see yet. If you have any suggestions as to what you'd like to see, please post them in the forums HERE. .As yet there is no forum topics, but there will be soon. You do need to register to post in the forums. I will announce when the site is fully functional as soon as we can get it ready. :)

mz

Once the review site is open I will still continue to post my reviews here first every weekend and moderate as always. I'm hoping the new site will invigorate me, which can only be a good thing with respect to my reviews here, as I have lost a lot of impetus over the last few years, and especially recently since the changes. I will be having regular giveaways of my own on the new site, but nothing like what we get here as my giveaways are all paid for by me and will be limited to one or a few of each game offered. I do have several keys for some games, but most of the keys are one offs or at the most a couple of keys for each game. As mentioned previously, I have around 10 000 Steam keys and several hundred other keys for other platforms such as Origin, Itch.io and Desura, many of which will be up for grabs. Most of the games are low budget indie games and arcade games (up to $20), but I do have lots of more expensive indie and AAA game keys to give away, (most will be awarded in exchange for appropriate reviews and other comments about games in general). Some of the AAA games I have spare that will be available to the community include X-Com:Enemy Unknown, Civilization V, Aliens vs Predator, ArmA II & 3, Batman Arkham City and Arkham Origins, Baldurs Gate Enhanced, Deadly Premonition, Battlefield 3, Gas Guzzlers Extreme Gold, All three of the original Company of Heroes, Defense Grid 2, several copies of Call of Juarez, Disciples II: Gallean's Return, King Arthur - The Role-playing Wargame, Max Payne 3, Dragon Age Origins, Far Cry 3, Front Lines: Fuel of War, Grid, a couple of the GTA titles, Rage, Omerta - City of Gangsters, Mount & Blade: Warband and lots of others. I haven't posted a list of my Steam keys, but you can see the spare games I have in my main Steam account HERE , there are roughly 350 games, quite a few of which will be up for grabs at some point in time. There is also massive collection of indie and arcade titles that are unlisted (as yet) available as well. I've been trying to list all of the games i have spare, but it's already taken me almost a year since i started listing them and I'm still not halfway through the spare keys i have. Once listed I have to put them in alphabetical order. Anyone know of a program that can do that automatically?

Whiterabbit-uk,
Hello, our Dear editor!
We are also hoping for your review on our exclusive giveaway https://game.giveawayoftheday.com/thorne-death-merchants/

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hi Alexa, really sorry. Things sort of snowballed today. I really need more advance notice of the games we are going to get as I'm not getting the reviews written in time. I didn't know about Thorne Death Merchants until the giveaways went live and then totally forgot it after returning from my archery. We've had a stream of visitors such as my in laws who hqve just returned from a months vacation, then we went on a trip to one of our local beauty spots to see the sun set. I've been trying to complete the review for Akhra, but it's been such a busy day I've not yet completed it. In fact I'm just going to upload all of the screen captures I've made (over 60), then will post a brief comment. With respect to Thorne Death Merchants I purchased the game when it was released on Steam back in March. if you'd let me know it was going to be part of this weekends giveaway I could have written something . I will post a brief intro to the game with some screen captures. It's already past my bed time, but I feel bad that I've not completed todays main giveaways review; especially as it's turned out to be quite a good match three.

Please try and give me more notice about the games we will be getting. I'd much rather write up the reviews before they go live as that gives me more time to moderate during the actual giveaways. Even though it may not seem so, I'm often spending upwards of six or more hours preparing a review as I also need to play the game for a couple of hours to give it a meaningful comment. I have a family, and would much rather spend time with them at the weekends than spend all morning and part of the afternoon both on Saturday and Sunday writing reviews. Being able to write up the reviews during the week is better for me as i'm retired due the the accident i had ten years ago, so i've got most of the day to myself and it's a perfect time for me to do such work. Thank you in advance.

Regards Stephen(:)

Installed easily and no issues. I'm approaching the last level and didn't really get the game during level one. I had to go back and replay some parts of it to find the map pieces as I'd missed that I should be looking for them. Getting the Radar bonus helped as it finds the pieces for you.

I like that play for the match three varies with sliding, rotating, connecting, moving one jewel. That keeps it interesting for me.

When I finish this I'll go back and replay it and pay more attention as I'm still baffled as to why I'm not getting certain bonuses and upgrades. I got Meteorite, but can't get Butterfly and some others, so challenges ahead.

On Win7 64 bit, I get a start up screen, but the game never starts up, Never had this problem before. Also have a data.zip file in the game folder that's password protected, which seems to contain a large portion of the game that didn't install properly.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hi Blusie, Your security software may be blocking some of the files in the games installed folder due to the adware that comes with MyPlayCity games. Try making an exception for those files, or temporarily turn off your security to see if that is the problem. Before you try that, check the event long immediately after trying to play the game. Any activity from your computer should be recorded in the log files. From those logs you may be able to see what the problem is.:)

Reply   |   Comment by blusie  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Thanks for the suggestions, but I had already made sure my security software wasn't causing the problem before I posted. Since a number of other people seemed to have a similar problem, I gave up and uninstalled it.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hi again Blusie, did you check the comment made by Mikiem over in the forums (or Stray Cat's comment below), regarding Microsoft's Visual Studio? That may help fix the problem. You'll find the thread HERE . :)

Please excuse any comments that haven't been moderated or replied to. I've been busy with family for most of the day; we had some unexpected visitors, so wasn't able to devote the time needed to write up a review that would have done this excellent match three justice. There is a lot of hidden depth to the game. I will continue to moderate in the morning. in the mean time, please do leave comments about today's game giveaway. Thank you. :)

Downloaded in 2 minutes. There was a huge lag on setup. We're talking click setup, mow the lawn and wait for setup to load. Installation was quick after the wait. Game opened fine.

Starts in a window. Would be much better if it defaulted to full screen.

Works fine. AMD A8, 6GB, R5, Avast with PUP off

Hi Lisa, please excuse the late reply. Have you read Mikiem2 post over in the forums regarding today's game? You'll also find the information in the FAQ's thread under Microsoft's Visual Studio, HERE. I think Stray Cat also mentions this fix in the games several comments above your comment. :)

Once the game is installed ..........removed by moderator ........... The game will still play normally but it will not open your browser anymore. .............removed by the moderator for the reason stated below............... Eventually you will end up with a fun, hassle free game.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Although I appreciate what you are trying to do, unfortunately stopping the game from opening your browser is likely to lead to fewer games being available, and as the message spreads, may even see MPC and other free game sites close, or conversely, it may see more aggressive advertising. The only reason MyPlayCity and other free game sites are able to give these games away for free is because they rely on the income they receive whenever your browser is redirected to their site. Part of the money they earn goes to the developer. If this money stream stopped, the developers would pull their games. The more people who stop the browser from opening, the sooner MPC and other free games sites will start to lose income, which means they will no longer be able to pay the developers for allowing them to give away copies of those games, which could eventually result in the sites closing down.

One of the reasons I no longer download MPC (or other games from these free sites) games is becasue of the additions as I don't like them, but I do see the reason they do it. Disseminating this knowledge to thousands of community members is only going to speed up this process, or it may force those sites to make changes that spoil the games more by adding more adverting. For this reason, I have deleted those parts of your comment that tell the community how to stop their browser opening. As much as I like the idea, I won't do it myself because I realize the impact it could have, besides, the browser opening isn't a threat to your computers security, it's actually totally innocuous. Once your browser has been redirect you can just simply turn it off. A little annoyance at the most. MyPlayCity and the other free sites appreciate any malicious activity from their side would impact their business, so don't do such things. If they did, we'd soon be hearing warnings and many of the developers who allow their games to be given away would soon pull out of those agreements as they would not like to be associated with such practices. Of course most of what I've said is just conjecture, though the demise of these free sites could be a real threat if everyone knew how simple it was to stop their browser from opening.

I downloaded and installed this game. What I liked: Game play was easy, the instructions understood, the graphics were good (but not excellent); what I didn't like: while the game was easy enough it didn't hold my interest long, I found myself bored after the 5th puzzle. This isn't my type of Match 3 game. I prefer story lines, changing pieces and a more fluid follow through such as winning a piece when a session is won to progress the story along rather than winning nothing but collecting "bolts" and gems or crystals or whatever it was only to find the puzzle piece you need needs to be found after constructing something that lets you find the pieces. UGH no. Just no. While it's not for me, I am glad it is free and offered today. Hopefully others will find it fun to play.

Hmmm....I can't get it to work. Windows 7, Home Edition, 64-bit. I always download your games, reboot in Safe Mode, install it, reboot like normal & then play the game but it won't start this time. It says it's "timed out" and won't even open the game. :-( I've been doing it this way for awhile now ever since it's been in this new wrapper deal. Yesterday's game works just fine. --Dax

Have you tried compatibility mode? :)

Reply   |   Comment by DelennDax7  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-1)

That didn't seem to work either. It looked like it was working....the loading screen was there but then it just stopped without loading the game. Oh well.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hmmm, sorry you're having so much trouble. Have you tried checking the event logs to see if there are any conflicts or other issues with the game. Usually any problems will be reported there. The easiest way to find any information is to open up the event log, then try booting up the game again, then immediately check the event log. That way it should be easier to find any error messages. you may have to reboot the event log immediately after trying the game. :)

Reply   |   Comment by DelennDax7  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-1)

DelennDax7,
This event usually happens when an application has been dynamically linked against the C Runtime Library (CRT), yet is executed on a machine that does not have the latest DLLs .
I Installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 x86 and the game launched perfectly after that.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26347 (2,6mb)
Hope this helps.

Reply   |   Comment by StrayCat  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

StrayCat, Thank you, that worked!

I like the game so far. I DO wish I could play in full screen mode but my cursor is unstable in that mode. Everything's fine in Windowed mode but I can't resize the screen. But, that's okay. I don't know what causes ones cursor to be like that in various games but usually switching between full screen & windowed mode fixes the problem.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hi DelennDax, have you tried changing your screen resolution via Display Settings. It may be that the setting you have your monitor set to isn't native to the games required resolution. If that doesn't work, you can increase the size of the game window by reducing the resolution of your monitor again via Display Settings. The less resolution, the larger the window will appear. :)

I haven't gotten very far into it yet, but this seems to be an interesting variation on Match 3 games. There are (so far) 2 variations - staight line and chain matches. There are map pieces to collect and assemble like a jigsaw puzzle, as well as different skill levels and bonus items to make. This looks like a game that's relaxing without being completely mindless.

Thanks for your comments on the game, Whiterabbit! I was going to pass this by as "just another Match-3," but your comments made me try it out, and it IS different from the Match-3's I usually play, so it's a fun change of pace.

Thank you Corylea; sadly I didn't have the time to devote to a full review. I was struggling to string together the information I'd taken while playing the game, some of which was rather confusing. (see comment #17 by JDP. Also thank you for the screen capture in your previous comment. :)

Works for me on Win 7 64bit. The installer still tries to change browser settings (probably change the homepage, don't know since Comodo prevented it).

@Whiterabbit Not sure if I understand what you are trying to do automatically, but you can paste all your keys into a text editor (each on a separate line), sort them alphabetically there and then paste elsewhere. Hope it helps somehow.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hi Joe, really sorry for the very late reply. I was so busy with family yesterday that I've only just got around to moderating most of the comments made. Thank you for your response. Basically I have a Word document that lists all of the different indie bundles I've purchased over the past five or so years (most of them basically) and under each bundle I've listed the games with activation codes in the following format:

Name of game - activation code or name of game: activation code

There are literally thousands of games listed (over 10 000), but they are not in and sensible order. To make it easier to find any particular game, (and duplicates), I want to put everything into alphabetical order. Doing it manually will take me weeks or even months of work due to the number of codes I have. I know that you can order things using word, but from my memory I seem to remember that facility is based on the use of headings, whereas the games have no code attached to them, they are just separate lines for each named game. - e.g.

One Day For Ched - ?????-?????-?????

Egyptian Senet - ?????-?????-?????

On A Roll 3D - ?????-?????-?????

Crayon Chronicles - ?????-?????-?????

ShipLord - ?????-?????-?????

Your Quest -?????-?????-?????

Spaceport Hope - ?????-?????-?????

Tomb of Tyrants - ?????-?????-?????

p.s. If you are able to help I'll give you the activation codes for a couple of the games I've listed above, just tell me which you fancy. :)

Whiterabbit,
there is an option to sort text by paragraph in MS Word. I'm using 2007 in Polish. On the main tools tab there is a button with A above Z and an arrow. It opens a tiny window with sorting by paragraph (or something like that, I don't know what they call it in English). It does the job. Every entry has to be on a separate line with Enter pressed at the end.
As for the games, none seems to be to my liking, I don't have the time to play most games I get from the site and all these are on Steam. I know Steam won't charge my card for no reason, but the database can be stolen (it happened to other companies in the past and there is no 100% security online - I'm a computer science student and may happen to know a thing or two) and my account cleared. That's why I don't want to have a Steam account. Thanks for the offer though and keep up the good work.

............................Moderator Comment........................................

Thank you for the information. Will see if I can figure it out. :) As for Steam I understand. It's not for everyone. Since my accident i've found playing games really helps with my pain management, so i play games every day, if only to get some light relief from the ever present pain. I was involved in a serious road traffic accident 11 years ago, where a speeding car (traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour) hit me from behind while I was cycling to work. I was sent home from the accident and emergency unit a few hours later after being told that I'd received bruising and a possible sprain only. As it transpired i'd actually broken four vertebrae, two of which were totally collapsed, I lost almost 4 inches in height and received brain damage that has left me with memory problems. Because i never received any treatment I'm now left with permanent pain, though my GP has said eventually my own body will be able to mask the pain, but that can take 20 or more years. Steam was a god send for me. Unfortunately any online purchase is fraught with the risks of your details being stolen. I trust Valve enough to have the latest security measures as they have a lot to lose if hackers broke through. Still I also realize it could happen. Again, thank you for your help, it is appreciated.

Downloaded quickly and installed with no problems on my Windows 10 64 computer. I originally intended to just install, open and try for a few minutes. An hour later, I am posting this review.
I find this game intriguing and relaxing. As White Rabbit said, there's more to the game than you'd think. Match 3 games are games I enjoy as I play them usually only on a surface level so I don't have to think too much. There are times I need games like that. This one has more layers than your usual Match 3, such as trying to remember to search for map pieces as you go through. I am still on level 1. I feel as the game progresses and I get to different levels, there will be new challenging tasks to accomplish beyond just the Match 3. The graphics are good and the music non-intrusive.
Very enjoyable game and one I intend to keep. Thank you for games I can get and keep both days this weekend!

...................Moderator Comment........................

Thank you for your feedback Granny, hope you are still enjoying the game. Unfortunately I wasn't able to complete my review, partly due to family comitments, but also becasue there was a plethora of information about the game gleaned from playing it, but most I found a little confusing. Still I throughly enjoyed the game. Definitely a keeper, though I'll probably purchase a copy from BFG as I don't like the adverts and browser opening.. :)

Akina75 posted that the game wouldn't run with a Side By Side error. Akhra: The Treasures uses an older C/C++ runtime from Microsoft, with the needed files included in the games folder. Unfortunately that's not enough for win7 [& I assume later versions of Windows], & if they haven't been installed already by some other app or game, these files have to be installed -- you can get the installation file here:

Note: there's an important security-related update available from Microsoft, so you want to check Windows Update once you install these runtime files. The update itself doesn't appear to contain the needed runtime files, but rather newer versions, so I don't think it would work to just skip to the update, though I could of course be wrong.

Note 2: once you install this version of the C/C++ runtimes you'll have several files leftover in the Root folder or directory [C:\]. They shouldn't hurt anything -- I mention it because it'll bother some folks [myself included], who will want to clean those up [delete them].

Downloaded on Win 7 64 bit. Installed with no problems. Game loaded and I was able to play and use the features. So far everything is working well. I enjoy these types of games. Thank you Giveaway of the Day and MyPlayCity for giving us another game..

Win 10 x64 Pro. Thoughts. Launched ok. Got to first part where you get to assemble map from 4 pieces. Click button to start into that puzzle. Black screen, bombs to desktop, msg about Windows this or that problem. No error number or like that. On shortcut set to Run as Admin. Go back in and this time I notice the flashing lower left corner box is a hint type thing. Maybe bombed because one is in sort of early tutorial and rigid programming assumes user won't be clicking right on the center of screen? Anyway do the 4 sliding pieces of clever map. By now I want that music off. Go to next part where there's that typical map of Start Here and need to establish which of the things is gonna start this thing. Now into first of the slider games. Seems bit boring. Think to self oh geez get me past this, and if only I could make a row slide horizontally. Keep pounding away (in Relaxed) in a strictly up/down manner. Bored out of skull, but finally find double click on a cell & now can slide row sideways. Well NOW it's much faster to finish. I mean in Timed mode you gotta know that or I imagine forget it.
Looks like you gain points to use in Workshop to get bonus benefits, build Hammer, & things for higher levels.
Just cute enough to not dump chuck yet. The Full Screen option is plenty large enough & graphics clear. Just note it isn't true wall to wall Full. So 7.5/10 for annoying me. Otherwise maybe 8.5/10 for game trying to add a bit of extra dimension to this time warn genre. Thanks guys.

Downloaded and installed on Win10 64bit Pro, opened with a error??? and had to re-download and install after a restart but then ran fine. A match three game that frankly looks very dated, and from the system requirements must be.
Didn't seem like anything special as far as the Match three games we've played before, and we've tried to get into it more than a couple times, but it became tedious rather quickly.
Maybe big fans of the genre will like this match three, and will keep it on the computer to see if it grows on us later with more gameplay.

Thank you for your feedback JBurt, I quite enjoyed the additional content, though it did confound my review being completed due to the over complicated additions to the game. I made copious notes, but couldn't string them together in a meaningful way. :)

What about "relaxed mode"?

...................Moderator Comment........................

See Corylea's image above, showing the relaxed mode, which presents itself when you start a new game. Once started you no longer get the option. To start a relaxed session you will need to start the game over from the beginning, probably by deleting your profile, or creating a new one. :)

Peter, the game DOES have relaxed mode. Here's a screenshot showing the choice:

Thank you for your feedback Akina, please read the following comment made by Mikiem in the Game discussion forums HERE and read Mike and Stray Cats comments above. You may find installing the older version of Microsoft's Visual C++ will fix the problem . :)

Akina75,
It appears I have a similar problem as you. I have not resolved the issue, yet. The game installed fine, but it fails to launch on one of my Windows 7 Pro x64 laptop. Yet, all is running fine on another machine (also Win7Pro x64).

...................Moderator Comment........................

Please excuse the very late reply. Check Stray Cat's comment above, or see Mikiem2's post over in the forums HERE where he mentions older Microsoft Visual Studio being the problem. :)

Akina75,
This event usually happens when an application has been dynamically linked against the C Runtime Library (CRT), yet is executed on a machine that does not have the latest DLLs .
I Installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 x86 / on my windows 7 x64 and the game launched perfectly after that.

That ...removed due to really disgusting language.... download link doesn't work - again!

Get rid of that ....removed due to unsuitable language....please....

...................Moderator Comment........................

I'm appalled at the language you used in your comment above. I've removed the offending words. This is a family site, where free games are given away. There really is no need for such language.

There's nothing wrong with the download link; thousands of community members download these games every week; most of which have no problem downloading, installing or playing the games they get. If there was a problem, everyone would be having the same problem as you, which is obviously not the case. I've managed to download this onto three different computers, all with different specifications and onto three different operating systems, i.e. Win 7, Win 8.1 and Win 10.

Personally I've only ever had a couple of game issues since I started downloading games from this site back in 2006 (I've only missed the odd game when I've been on vacation and even then I've managed to download most as I've always taken a laptop with me). Both of those issues were also received by most other community members, which would indicate that their was a problem with the game. The first game I ever had issues with was an unusual breakout given away way back in the Spring of 2007 (can't remember the name of the game offhand, but it did have two cheery characters that popped up that looked like smiley faces). The game in question had been created when Win 98 had been the operating system of choice, (though the game, which I purchased from Alawar about 15 years ago did play on Win ME, but didn't play on XP, which was the main operating system owned by most community members in 2007.

If you are having problems, it's probably something you have installed on your computer, or the way you have it configured. Most likely your security software because the game giveaways are now protected by Themida code which is often seen as a threat by some anti-malware suites. The reason for this is because Themida code is also used to hide malware. As a precaution some anti-malware suites will automatically flag the giveaway file as suspect when Themida code is detected, so the game won't be installed; instead you get the giveaway activation widow, that some think is an indication that the game has been installed. This isn't the case. The usual fix for this is to either configure your anti-malware to allow the giveaway file to be unwrapped, or to temporarily turn off your anti-malware software until the game has been installed. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in December 2006, including the games given away on the main site prior to the game site opening prior to early Dec 2006 (i.e. October to Dec 2006) and when the site went to weekends only. The site was temporarily closed between March April 2008, at which time the games were given away on the main site each weekend for several weeks before the game site re-opened to weekends only late April 2008. :)

I cant play on Win7 64 bit :((((((

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hi Gorden, really sorry for the very late reply. Was very busy with family on Sunday. Check mikiem2's thread over in the forums HERE and/or read Mike and Stray Cats comments above. It seems Microsoft's Visual C++ is to blame. You may need to download the older version for this game to work on Win 7 and above. Mikiem has provided a download link in the forums :)

Win 10 Home 64 bit. Yes it works for my computer no problems at all. Wasn't too sure what I had to but its just another Match 3 game.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Hi Suzanne, when I saw what the game was last night I thought, at least from the look of it, that it was just another example of a poor match three game, but after playing it this morning, it does have some original features and so far I've thoroughly enjoyed playing it. I've not had time to complete the review yet as I'm late for archery and must leave immediately. I recommend you try this game before consigning t to the bin. regards Stephen. :)

Reply   |   Comment by Suzanne  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Thanks Stephen. I haven't thrown it in the bin just yet. Like you my Sundays are busy as well. Sunday, day of rest, yeah right. LOL I will play it again today as I did like the game, just wasn't sure how many of a certain colours I had to get as there was no counter.

...................Moderator Comment........................

Unfortunately I've not been able to complete my review due to various circumstance. I have played the game for a few hours now and although the match three part of the game is quite simple, I have found the extra's that go with the game really entertaining. Personally I give this a big thumbs up. :)
