I've played it for a couple of days now. The concept is good, and I really like the 'railroad' game pieces. However, the interface looks like something from Windows 95. While music can be turned off, sounds cannot. The sounds are a little upsetting - one is a grunt, another is a child's laugh that sounds rather scary when canned.
I think with the technology available today, a much better job could have been done on this game.

Well, folks, thanks for all the effort. I never got to try this one out. Here in a few minutes, though, I should get a brand new one to check out! I don't know what the problem was, but as I tried each suggestion, it performed the same way with the same error. I DO love this site and will keep coming back. Have a great day everyone! -- Jean

Great game. I like untimed puzzlers. Music is great, too. I keep the game running in the background just to listen while I work. Thanx again GGAOTD. And thanx to WhiteRabbit aka Stephen for the Flubby tip.

Opened the zip up.....wow...way too many files for me to deal with to just play a free game. What's up with that? So many people have problem's with just installing when there are 2 files(activate and setup). Does GOTD not read how many people have that trouble? Obviously not or they wouldn't make it even MORE complicated.

(not for me mind you, but remember all those people who post here saying....'it's only time limited demo' for virtually every other game?)

I was getting the bit 16 subsystem error and I fixed it and game works fine now...This is what I did.

1. Click Start, click Run, type C:\windows\repair, and then click OK.
2. Right-click the Autoexec.nt file, and then click Copy.
3. Click Start, click Run, type %windir%\system32, and then click OK.
4. In the System32 folder, press Ctrl + V to paste the Autoexec.nt file in this folder.

Then I was able to activate and install with no problems.

Thanks to GOTD for another great game. Had a few problems at first, then I downloaded it again from the mirror site and it installed just fine. I don't understand why some people don't like the music. But then, I grew up in the big band era and love that kind of music! To each his own...

To hopefully help those that are having problems downloading. It's been stated above, but in different ways. The problem with this particular game, is that when you download and hit "Activate," it wants to extract to a folder (as usual). However, if you let it extract to the default folder, which is way deep in your computer in the Temporary Internet downloads folder, it won't be able to read it. You have to NOT let it extract to the default folder, but browse and direct it to download (easiest) right on your desktop. Then you'll have the Ahagame folder (which you do have to name) on your desktoop. Open it, then Activate AGAIN, the hit the main setup and it should go trhough, and come to the screen which asks for the code number that you should have copied by now. This is the first time I've had to actually extract it to my desktop, instead of way down there in the Internet Temp files folder. It just can't read it there for some reason, tho usually it does. But something to remember if you have a problem like this again. Gee, I hope I explained it okay, tho others have done a great job explaining also. But it took me way too long to finally "get it." Lol. Luv this site. :)

Yeah I cant get it to work either! I extracted all files[w/ winrar]to a desktop folder. I got the key no prob. But when I hit setup.exe I get this message Titled= '16 bit Windows Subsystem'
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
[then theres a choice to 'Close' or 'Ignore']

*I have no idea what this means!*

If you've managed to get the activation code, but are having trouble getting the game to work. Try downloading the demo from the address I posted earlier comment #34. (see below) You’ll still need to unzip the file to a new folder before clicking on the executable (exe) setup file. See my comment above (#34) for details. I’m sorry if it’s not clear enough. :( Once it's unzipped you must click on the activate file first to get the activation code.

http://www.aha.com.ua/

You can input the activation code into the demo and it works. This has allowed me to install the game on my children’s computers which are offline at the moment. (I need two wireless network cards as the router is at the other side of the house and I’m fed up running cables through the house, to get them online, lol). The activation code has enabled the game on both computers. See comment #47 by wendy Gower for further useful help. (Thanks Wendy, I didn't make a good job of explaining it earlier... Irish1952 comment #26 also mentions this as well, thanks man :) )

With respect to turning off the music; I found the off button, situated at the bottom left of the screen, doesn't work, however if you look to the right of the screen there is a pause symbol together with >> and

I followed WhiteRabbit's excellent instructions meticulously up to the "themes" folder - there isn't one. Ive copied and pasted where it says; I've been told it's successfully activated; I've gotten the GGOTD screen that says it's installed - and still no game and no icon to start the game - where are we all going wrong? Hey guys for those who are having trouble (like I was) installing as you need to put in key before it will install, i was using winzip to unzip and install, all i did to make it work (after several frustrating min's) was to get it to unzip only, not unzip and install, once it unziped to a folder the activation thing was there and it gave me the serial number to put in. try it, it might work for you as it did for me.
good luck.

Hi again everybody! I've been reading the comments all morning and trying the suggestions everyone has talked about. I STILL can't get this to install. After I D/L, extract, then activate, I click on setup, and I get the following message: "Setup is unable to find installation languages in the AhaGame\SETUP.LID file" "error 105". There is no setup.lid file. I even went to the Aha site, D/L the demo, copied the setup.lid file to this folder, and it starts the setup then just disappears. The language files are in the folder to begin with. I am running XP Pro x64 with plenty of room and processing speed available. This is only the second or third time I've had ANY problem with D/L and installing a program from here. I love this site! Will someone please help me? Please keep in mind I know very little about computers. Thanks a million! -- Jean :)

What a great game! Wonderful, clean graphics! I am terrible at this game right off the bat, so I'm bound to have a lot of fun in the little time I allow myself to actually play games. No problem getting into the game. I just followed the usual rule of activating, despite the many files, then ran set-up, plugged in the registration number given me upon activation, and was set to go. Thanks, GGOTD!

Steps to install the game properly:

If you use winrar to unzip the package you just have to right click on the zip file then click on the "extract to aha!/

This will automatically produce a folder called "ahagame" Click on this to open it then click on the activate file which will bring up a window with the serial number.

Highlight and copy this by right clicking on your mouse button and selecting copy from the drop down menu. I’ve saved this for future use and to install onto my other computers which are temporarily off line.

Click on the set up file which will bring up a window which requires you to put your name (which will already be filled in with the name of the computer), a company name, which can be anything you want and the serial number, which you paste into by right clicking your mouse and selecting paste from the drop down menu. (Assuming you copied the key when it was presented after clicking on the activate file).

Once this is done click on next which will bring up the destination folder window which enables you to install the game where ever you want to install it.

Just follow the onscreen prompts for the rest of the installation.

If you are using winzip (which comes with XP) you will have to make a folder first, then place the zipped file that you downloaded into the folder which should be named AhaGame, (however I'm not sure whether this matters). Right click on the zip file and click on "extract all". Then follow the instructions above from the point where you have to click on activate.

You will have to go to the folder to get a shortcut, or go to the start menu/all programs and you should see it there. Make a second shortcut by right clicking on it and selecting shortcut. this can then be dragged to the desk top or where ever you keep your short cuts. Or alternatively you can temporarily pin it to the start menu and place it wherever you want to later.

Once you have the activation code you can transfer the folder to any computer that isn't connected to the internet and install it using the activation key you obtained earlier.

Using the link http://www.aha.com.ua/ (from above) you will find an extra theme called "Flubby" Once the zipped file has been unpacked, the file :Flubby.Aha!" needs to be placed into the themes folder which can be found within the main Aha! game folder.

I've found this an intriguing puzzle game that is presented differently than most games I’ve seen. It’s quite an old game, but very playable. By default you get the Geometry theme loading up. I haven’t checked the remaining four called Balloons, Cartoons Railroad and of course Flubby. On the web site it says you can consider each of these themes a separate game.
It does lack good instructions, so be prepared to try it out on a trial and error basis. However so far I am impressed. It’s not as good as the Alchemy offering from the other week with respect to visuals and effects but it's certainly interesting and different, as well as being worth the little space it takes up on my computers. (Once installed with the extra theme it takes up 10.8Mb, which considering I have over 600G on my main computer is nothing.

Thank you Computer Systems Odessa and GGAotD for another playable game. With respect to Odessa’s previous game giveaway, “Alchemy”, I emailed them with respect to the editor, which I’ve not been able to find. It clearly states that there is an editor included in the full version, which should be really useful for making new level sets. They haven’t replied yet, so I may write another one.

##this is not a review of the game##

@Everyone

I would recommend running Zsoft (freeware) to analyze the install of anything you dl from here so you can be sure to fully remove it.

It may also help if you want to uninstall and reinstall as it can show the hidden actions of activate.exe (ie. inserting the install key quietly into the regristry) then you can back them up and install again later (this may not work for all giveaways as some only have setup.exe)

@#5
There aren't many programs that install with .MSI instead of .exe, though the cab files are a surprise.

I already regret installing this. Game does have music controls at the botton & right side of plain looking display. There are many changes & adjustments you can make. None of these are clearly explained in the game or the "Aha.com" web page. #26 was correct with the name requirements. Usually they are "giveawayoftheday" for both owner and/or company, with the registion # from the previous screen.
I've played 5 games & trying to remove the game from my PC. The game doesn't have an uninstaller so I have used the "Zsoft Uninstaller" and it says it is unable to remove --
C:\Program Files\CS Odessa\Aha!\Aha! --- This file no longer appears in the add/remove list. I've done a scan of my PC and see it flash by during the search, with the results "not found".
I guess this may be a job for "AdvancedWindowCare" (+Pro) from earlier GOTD offer. It won't hurt I guess even tho I ran it earlier this week. I just don't like programs leaving "traces" behind in my system. (I guess GOTD doesn't check for this.)
Thanks; but, no thanks on this one. - "Thumbs Down"

Unpacked and installed with no problem. Play was smooth and non-problematic. The game itself is kind of boring. I was thinking there was several games in it rather than just falling up,down,or whatever. I'm not bashing the game. It was well written, but I've played it so many times before in other formats.

This is one game where you must activate it BEFORE you install. Setup requires you to put in the serial number in order to proceed. Activating gives you the serial number. It also wanted the name of the company where I work. Since I'm disabled and can't work, I just put game giveaway.
