MostFun does have great games, but there's a setting that lets you decide how much of your computer/data/??? that you will allow MostFun to use. [Partial or Full - Full gives you "Good Karma".]

I have tried and tried to uninstall MostFun, but it's still on my computers. The only "solution" I've come up with is to block it from accessing the Web.

Beware.

I just have to comment on January 1, 2008. Could we all please do what the GGOTD site team ask.....evaluate and comment on the goods and bads of the games offered. This pompous ass geek attacks on people who are trying to do just what the site team has asked, are annoying to read and totally unhelpful to the site team and the game producers. Please don't turn this into a chat room.....and especially not an attack each other room. Please, it's a new year, let's all resolve to behave like adults and save our drivel for "my space" and "face book", where people will care! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! :D

About the game, I'll pass on this one. If I want to play something like Pac-Man, I'll play the real deal (I think I STILL have a 3.5" copy of MS Arcade lying around here somewhere...) :)

Hi Everyone, I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about, this game actually is a good game. True, it is a pacman clone of sorts, but it is not a bad game. The music is not terrible, the controls are not bad, better, in fact than the original pacman, as with that game, you had to change directions before you needed to. This game gets a thumbs up from me, the only suggestion I would make to Axysoft is to make the learning curve a bit easier, in other words, make the earlier levels a bit easier. I will be keeping this game, and I had no problems at all. Once again, I'm not sure why everyone is complaining, but this one is a keeper!

Thanks

Updatery:

I just read the in-game "story"(if it can qualify as such):

"This oldster, your grandparent, was always a strange person - one of the sort people call eccentrics. He was a scientist. Some people thought he was a genius, but many others thought he was simply mad. Perhaps he has opened invented something amazing...

Many legends always told about his wealth, and children blindly believed in them. The will of this glorious grandparent says that you are the heir of these unbelieveable treasures! These treasures were split into parts and hidden in deep space! After a little search in Grandfather's laboratory you found remote devices and a teleporter.

Afterwards there was a great adventure, which you saw in the MoneyMania game. Now you should execute new will of your grandparent. Using the remote device with codename: Agent 2002 you must fill up all mazes with New Year and Christmas presents."

Wow, that was bad. I can't believe that I transcribed the whole thing.

I haven't bothered to comment on the games of late because none of them have been worth spending any time on besides Time Breaker. You can call me ungrateful, I don't really care, but I think that in truth the offerings from GGOTD in the last month or so have been nothing near the quality they used to be. I hope we start to see better games sometime soon...

@WhiteRabbit
Thank you for your reviews and your help.
I welcome your tips, like the one today about the Partition Manager s/w. I was indeed wondering if I should dwld it or not.
I have made several changes to my PCs based on your helpful hints.
I appreciate the time you take to give us advice, always doing it so kindly and without put downs. A BIG Thank you.
Wishing you the best for 2008.

Many Thanks to the GPT, for the terrific games & s/w. I've discovered & learned a lot!!
Peace & Good health to all

Ok update, it's just Moneymania with some new sprites for "christmas 2002", the same unlock code works for both titles too.

The programmers are perfectly capable of great things and there are some very nice transition effects in there and some reasonably slick graphics but why did they waste the time making this junk! Axysoft you have potential, just use it better!

Thanks for a great year of free games, GGAOTD, and I'm wishing the Team a great year to come. Also to everyone else who frequents and appreciates this site, especially whiterabbit and his in-depth interviews; with the expection of Phil, who's already decided that everything is rotten, and the best way to get what you want is to whine and complain and spread negativity. "You can't always get what you want;" and "what goes around comes around." But most of us seem to have already figured that out. ;-) Happy New Year!

it's ALMOST "do not download" but I'm downloading it just to rip the image of that freaky santa from the title screen! RUN kids, run while you still have breath.

Apart fom that the game was terrible,

#12 (and #34) - Whiterabbit is correct (and I AM a tech/engineer). If you are doing a lot of product installs and removals, having a separate partition will keep your system booting and running much better. It is why a decent server install will have an OS partition and a data partition (instead of a single OS & Data partition). For the average home user, who installs one product every year or so, there is not a big difference.

Actually Phil, defragging your drive is NOT ALWAYS a good way to keep your system speed up. Many OS's sort your drive on the fly to keep the most used data together to optimize access. Not only does defragging often slow down a system, it can also cause other issues (if you have Shadow services turned on, it flushes older shadow copies of files).

The other items you list are BASICS, but do not have to be run as often, or take as long if you have a separate OS partition.

Keep up the good work, Whiterabbit. I find you're a bit long in your reviews for my tastes (play more - talk less! *LOL*), but others ARE helped by your detailed reviews, and not all of us are techs or engineers. *GRIN*

Commenter #12, what's wrong with you? Why do you have to keep repeating yourself when you're wrong yet again :?: And again I'd appreciate it if you'd use my correct screen name as the way you write it smacks of insult. FYI, A partition creates a new drive. Of course it's not a new physical drive, but being partitioned from the boot drive it acts like a separate drive.

And again I must repeat what I said the other week. Installing games onto your boot drive can and will slow your system down, especially as the drive fills up. Game performance is affected very slightly by installing onto a drive other than the boot drive, but not significantly enough to actually affect the running of the game. You gain more in system performance by installing games and non essential programs onto non boot drives than if you install them onto the boot drive. As for the other ways of improving performance, I'm glad you've been reading my non tech notes from previous posts on this matter ;)

I don't claim to be tech’ savvy; I never have and never will, though I will pass on useful information that I've learnt through experience and research that I think will help those with older and or slower systems.

To the community, I apologise for having to yet again defend myself from these repeated attacks from the person above. To the moderators I do wish that comments posted against other posters would be deleted, especially when they are negative in nature. Thanks.

 HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS

Eh. I've fought with the stupid thing enough hours. Can't get it to install. Activate.exe tells me all's fine, but the app insists that I need a registration code.

It looks like a half-decent PacMan clone. Just the sort of mindless activity I was hoping for right about now. Ah, well. Guess that's what happens when you try to run a 6-year-old game on a year-old operating system, eh? :/

(And, yes, I did note the fact that it didn't claim Vista compatibility. Then again, most things don't on this site... And they tend to work...)

My review of Agent 2002:

The first thing that I noticed about this game was the "2002" in the title. The website says "Happy New Year 2002!" meaning that this game was developed in 2001. That makes this a seven-year-old game, and it definitely shows.

Axysoft's business model seems to be "Make a clone of a classic and hope that it sells." I feel sorry for whoever has bought this sorry copy of Pac-Man, and especially sorry for anyone who bought it after January 1, 2002. Basically, they took Pac-Man and reversed the concept, requiring the player to lay down as many "presents"(they look like green thermoses) as it takes to cover a level. Not that it makes any difference, since you still have to go everywhere. The controls aren't quite as bad as the ones in Packs, but they're still subpar.

The graphics were a nightmare of maroon, magenta, and lime when I ran it directly from the desktop, but switching to XP Compatibility Mode fixed that. The screen resolution was still horribly low, though, as were the 3D models used for practically everything. The level letters literally bristled with greebles(a Star Wars prop team's word for extraneous details), while the background of a moon was blurry and smooth. It was pretty bad.

The sound was even worse. Techno seemingly written by an eight-year-old does not make good game music, and the sparking sound of Santa's severed head teleporting in was just as bad. Actually, pretty much all of the sound was horrible.

The theme was a weird amalgam of sci-fi, Christmas, and God knows what else. In fact, the actual idea of "New Year" seemed like a poorly-thought-out addition to the title(guaranteeing the game's obsolescence after about a month) - which doesn't even make sense on its own. Santa as an "Agent"? What? Actually, that would be his decapitated head, which floats around in a badly-tiled maze that floats in space while morphing robots chase him around. Ecch.

Overall, I give Agent 2002 a score of two and a half out of ten(four for gameplay, three for graphics, two for sound, and one for theme). For New Year's Day, I expected something that wouldn't deserve the worst score that I've ever awarded, but that's what we got. Sad.

>Whiterabbit aka Stephen

Where do you get the idea that all games must have a mouse control option? How would this game benefit from such an addition? Or are you saying that you'd rather play it with a gamepad?

>User

Your mindlessly brand-loyal comment shows everyone that you haven't actually played the game.

>Marilyn T

"I wish [Whiterabbit] good health for the New Year."

So do I. He doesn't seem to be doing so well.

#12 - Very disrespectful in your tone. I'm sorry you had a bad New Year's, but please don't ruin it for anyone else, especially when Stephen didn't say anything to you or about you. He made a mistake, but it can be pointed out a lot nicer than what you did.

Stephen did have a good idea though. I say, setup two Windows partitions, one as your main, everyday use, another as the gaming use. THAT way, your everyday use wouldn't be hindered by all of the adding and deleting from the registry.

Happy New Year!

Hey, you smart folks who have figured out this isn't 2002: you don't need to remind us dummies about it. (We don't care.) I'm (occasionally) still playing the original Pacman, so a 6-year-old knock-off is a big step forward for me--not back. :)

Anyway, I appreciate the opportunity to "choose" to download this game if I want to, whether I want to or not. I chose not to only because I have "Alonix" from a few days ago as well as about a hundred other similar games. (Well, more like about 20, but that's still a lot of the same ol' same ol'.)

Thanks AxySoft & GGAOTD, and have a Happy 200EIGHT.

Il aurait peut-être dû écrire quelque chose de plus humoristique, genre "#13 your french is also A TEENY WEENY LITTLE BIT yeurk TOO LOL" ???

THANK YOU ANYWAY GAOTD !

Bonne année !

#7 Bunnyman: The give away on the other site DOESN'T allow you to create another drive, just a partition. You must not be a tech or you'd realize that installing a game has no effect on the speed and efficiency of your operating system. Only defragging the drive and keeping cookies, temp and internet files clean along with good spyware, adware and anti-virus programs can do this. Installing games to a separate partition will only slow down the games performance. True you can give the partition a "Drive letter", but it's not the same as installing a separate hard drive. Here's hoping 2008 will bring about some better games. Thanks GGAOTD for 2007 and keep it up you grateful whiners, in time maybe we can get better games with some variance.Once again I volunteer my help if GGAOTD needs it.

As an aside…………. with respect to those times I've suggested that you install these giveaways onto another drive. Over on the giveaway site today, the partition software being offered today will allow you to create another drive, thus allowing you to keep your essential windows and other system programs separate from games and other non essential programs and therefore should help in keeping your system fast and efficient.

To those who took the time to follow the link I supplied yesterday:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/2206?replies=1

and so gratiously replied back to me, I thank you for your kind words. I do wish, however, to emphasize that it was BuBBy who authored the original comment which began the thread as well as following through with the discussion all day. My only contribution was in drawing your attention to his thoughtfully considered point-of-view, which does seem to have resulted in a somewhat more courteous and helpful "Comments" page yesterday. Thank you BuBBY, for all that you do here, at the other site and in the forums. Please know that your effort and many contributions are greatly appreciated.

To those who had problems getting yesterday's "The Rise of Atlantis" game to work properly:

I have written to the company, referrng them to our "Comments" and "Forum" pages, and asked for their help in getting the game to run. I would suggest that you not uninstall it until they have had the opportunity to remedy the problem or at least explain what is causing it.
