Hi everybody and Whiterabbit-UK. :-)
Preamble: I'm using Win10 home x64, DEP always on, UAC enabled with max level, custom scaling 150%, resolution 1920x1080, color depth 32bit, refresh rate 60Hz, Win10 Defender, Win10 firewall.
No problems detected after doing pre-scans and post-scans with Defender, SAS, MBAM2, EEK, GSAM.
No problems detected after I sent the package to virustotal and metadefender; file too big to be sent to jotti and virscan. Those webservices show the same false positives for GAOTD setup.exe found in last years: I won't repeat them.
No problems during game download, during its installation, at its startup and changing its options.
Thanks to the GAOTD team, in particular to Whiterabbit-UK!
Follow the white rabbit, guys!
Thanks for the game to World-LooM, Intenium, BigFishGames, MyPlayCity!

Worked great on win 7 64bit, but too choppy to play in wine 1.8, and too slow in VirtualBox V5.0.32_Ubuntu r112930 hosting XP SP3. Although it certainly installed just fine. I tried adding openal32 driver to load in wine with no improvement, The sound track out of sync lagging behind the video. didn't try upping the ram on the Virtual Box or loading with PlayOnLinux. Super fun game in native win, am jealous I can't get it going in linux as well as windows

Aerie: Spirit of the Forest is a casual, time management and hidden object game that is fun to play for people of all ages.
Players can either choose to play the game in time mode or relaxed mode. The latter mode is optional if the player did not beat the level within the time frame. There is a total of 35 levels in this game and the objective is to help the furry animals by collecting resources like water, seeds, and life and eventually restoring the forest life. To fully complete the game, you need to collect moonstones within the time limit in every level and use them to restore the conditions of three temples. Also, the goal is clearly stated in the top-left of the level. Tips are given before the game starts and in the first two levels so that players know their aim and do not get confused. This game stores the data for up to 5 players.
In my opinion, the game is quite easy to beat within the time limit. A few levels are challenging though but that only happens once in every level because I do not have a plan/strategy to tackle the level. But once I have learned that I could not complete the game in such way, I try a different path.
Additionally, to keep the game more interesting, game devs have added hidden object game from level 6 onwards. Players need to find particular items such as flowers and crystals. The total items found are only known once you have clicked on all the items and shown after the level is completed. My favorite feature is when I was given time after I have completed the tasks to locate all the hidden objects which I find is missing in other time management game. Despite the positive remark, there is no reward given to players for finding the items and instead only a congratulatory message is mentioned.
The graphics in Aerie: Spirit of the Forest is nice to look at because it is colorful and beautiful. There is also captivating hand drawn images before they are painted. The character, Aerie looks pretty as well. The music has a calming effect and it is ambient. It does not get irritating or monotonous over time. The story is interesting but a cliche in which a disaster strikes and the heroine saves the day by saving the forest lives. The pace of the story is also okay.
Players can use three power-ups in this game - have two workers call the will-o-wisps to do two works simultaneously, the power to speed up your pace and freeze the time. The will-o-wisps power up appears most often. As for the speed power up, I find it a bit not useful because every location in the game is near, the duration for Aerie to complete the task is slow and she can take 'shortcuts' (caused by bugs) or perhaps, I do not know how to use it effectively.
Additionally, players have animals such as the eagle to speed up the process to locate the items. It may be a blessing but sometimes both Aerie and the eagle will collect the same items when I only intend the eagle to gather it. It is a flaw that may cause you to waste some time but can be overcome by the player. You will also meet the bear, deer, beaver and goat to help you out.
The dissatisfactory I have about this game is the bugs. When I clicked on the mouse too many times, Aerie does not follow the given path but instead takes the shortest route. It may be advantageous to beat the game but it is not right to have this bug in the game. Also, I have difficulty to collect the items especially the life force from the deer or goat because the game does not register it when I clicked on it.
Besides that, the character blends so well with the environment that I could not find her quicker. Luckily, the game does not start until you begin a task. During the last few levels, it was hard and confusing to find the landing spot but gets easier once I know to land on the green patch.
This game is definitely recommended for all although I would like to see more levels added to the game. Perhaps 60 levels will be sufficient. Also, features such as beating the gold, silver, and bronze time will add an extra challenge instead of only displaying the best time. Overall, the score I have given for this game is 7.5/10.
TL;DR
Pros
- Very beautiful graphics
- Ambient music
- Easy and challenging levels
- Okay story
- Hidden object game
Cons
- Bugs
- 35 levels only
- No achievements

Ujploaded and opened easily. The graphics are good and game play is very easy. You can play
against the clock or relaxed. While I liked it, I did get bored with the repetition of performing the same
activities each level. I played on to see if any change and so far none. I think It is great, though, for children
with a nice theme and freeing or having animals help. I would upgrade it to make it more advanced and or interaction with the animals etc. One thing I really liked is that the fairy/spirit moves about really fast!! Thanks for another great game and have a good week, Lee.

Game looks good. However, my cursor does not show (no arrow, no cursor, nothing). I need to scroll over blind until a hotspot highlights (including buttons like Skip, Menu, etc.). Windows 10, 64-bit.

Won't vote either way. What turns me off is this kind of "follow a tight set of rules" in order to win within time frame. Prefer more free form games that allow for more creativity.
Have tried several using this formula/format and like a lot of TM games it becomes a
labor. I understand jigsaw puzzles, as example, require use a set routine but at least it's on your own time. More fun when a game lets you find your way without locked into a rigid programming logic. But do appreciate the offer and nice to see many enjoy this kind of game play. Thanks GOTD.. Spring here Monday!

Aerie: Spirit of the Forest
A MPC game that downloaded and installed well on Win 10 Pro x64
and a strategy game with quite beautiful scenery and have to say this game has been a blessing to my daughter who is playing it in the hospital on the laptop very bored and ready to come home! She really likes this game, and it looks like a very nice one to play, have only helped a bit here and there, but she is playing through the levels diligently. No quirks or hiccups yet..although I realize I probably just jinxed it! ;) Thank you MPC and GGOTD fr these games as always, now time for me to get back up there.

Win 7 Pro x64 here. Setup.exe crashes after attempting activation. It then shows the "activation successful" window and opens the respective webpage, but nothing else happens. No install files or options.
In the past I've had no such problem with GOTD installs. I'm aware of the Themidia wrapper and have successfully gotten around it before, so I'm a bit stumped here. The .gcd file is in the folder, the folder and files are whitelisted by my firewall and antivirus, I tried it with networking off, and I even checked the quarantine lists in case something was previously 'caught'. Nothing's working. :/
Save | Cancel
I haven't changed anything regarding hardware or security programs. Everything's the same as it was for all previous GOTD installs. And I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to background programs and processes too, so I'd very likely have noticed anything extraneous by now if it was still installed.
So far none of the FAQ suggestions have worked. I even see the same crash behavior in safe mode, which stumps me even more. I'm probably just gonna shrug and give up on this one. If there was more time in the activation window I could try installing on another machine, but this late in the day it's not worth scrambling over. Oh well. I hope everyone else enjoys it though. :)

Ablog, try downloading it via safe mode with networking. You need internet access to download the game in safe mode.

Posted earlier that install was a problem. Recently installed AVAST Internet protection, which allowed install once I disabled it. Not a problem with this giveaway after all. And it's a pretty nice game! Thanks.

..I call Aerie, a builder game. Most would say time or resource management game. Kids will love this game. I'm posting my review early because this game is simple, or easy. I really enjoy the good graphics. It gives hints so a first time player can work the game- After yu play through the Forest Spirit a little a person catches on more and more. For an adult who doesn't enjoy these type games it could become boring after a few trys. This Aerie Spirit of Forest is similar to a Dec giveaway couple years ago "Lord of Shamens", (Lord of something anyway). That game had Wood, coins, pumkins to eat, stuff like that for "Builder". Aerie resources are water, bushes, and yu fill in holes. This game is recommended for Resource gamers for sure.

I downloaded this a while back from MPC.
This does get challenging if you're trying to get the achievements. It becomes more noticeable after the first section. The game limits how fast you can do things so it's hard to beat the clock unless you do things in a specific order.

Win10 x64 8G, etc. Getting Appcrash report upon attempting setup. D/L appears to go normally, 7zip reports no problems, go setup.exe, activation seems normal, then it all ends. I don't actually see an installation happening. Upon hunting for my game, I find several 'appcrash' reports. Can you help, pls.?
I've been through the same process many times with GAOTD, never has this happen before. Thanks!

As always downloading and installing went fine.(Windows 10 /64) If you gt the "activation successful" but no game got installed make sure you extract both the Setup.exe and Setup.gcd as they work together. The readme is not needed for games.
Interesting take on the town restore/rescue games. This time a eco theme. Restore trees, fill ravines, free animals. That kind of thing, you played one youi know how to play them all. Graphics and sounds are nice (but as always with these games after a 15 minute playthrough you will most likely mute the music) Only gripe for me is that again this game will cut off the most bottom part of the game window in full screen (1680x1050 16:10). However unlike HOG games it has not caused me to miss things as there is no important text to read down there.
8/10 overall. You like these type of games you will have a fun time with this one

Mavadelo,
Hi Mavadelo, there could be 'half-way' happy solution to better display of Games (especially older ones, but perhaps this one too) - depending on what graphic card You use and if You don't mind Game to be 'bordered' (black blocks on right and left sides). This way Game is not distorted and comfortable to see. Smaller than full screen, bigger than when played in window mode.
I found that out after days of trying to find solution and restore horribly over stretched and distorted couple of my favorite older Games (didn't know what or who was behind it..:) My original display on laptop is 1600 x 900, and I use Intel HD Graphics 4000.
The problem lies in Scaling and it's pre-conditioned (by Intel 4000 anyway) option, otherwise - the 'thick' next to Scaling won't shift, and as it happens the only way to alter that and give user more options is to change (temporarily) NATIVE Display to next smaller one and to choose in Scaling (Maintain Aspect Ratio) last option - which is 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' out of 'Center Image' or 'Scale Full Screen'. Check if Your Game is 'bordered' by this action (if not yet - play a bit with options, I did all that last Jan, so I hope I'm correct), go back to Graphics and Media Control Panel (Advanced Mode, where you were making changes) and restore your native Display to what it was.
Games will stay bordered. Reversing borders should be just as easy.
One more thing. Before altering anything at the very beginning - make sure Your Game(s) is left on full mode option when exiting.
Funnily enough most folk hate these borders and I found my solution in one of the Forum's (visited many, many different Fora and tried all sorts, trust me, Games Windows compatibility, the lot, and each try to no avail..) where people were seeking solution how to get rid of these ugly black blocks!, haha.
Hope it helps either You, or someone else. It's pretty common, and I noticed people here on GGOTD mentioning proper Display matters few times in the past.
Happy Sunday Evening to All, Greetings to WR.

Thanks for Your kind Offer WR, and grand gesture. Much appreciated!
As much as I would like to take You upon it - it would be truly wasted on me. As it happens I'm not a member of Steam any longer and after giving it a go in a past - I stayed faithful:) to freely accessed Games I can play directly from my PC/desktop and independent of any (controlled) Game Console Services... Yes, these Consoles keep everything under 'one roof' for convenience and content, so user has everything related to Games they play, purchased, License codes, new Games arrivals, etc - at hand and on tap.
Having said that (my personal choices) - I appreciate the very opposite might be someone else's choice and preference to use more interactive form of playing. I believe Steam is one of them and kudos to that. As You said WR, they're probably the largest going at present in the gaming world.
The Services (Consoles) I used and enjoyed for a long period of time having purchased great number of earlier Games from - was RealArcade and later Big Fish Games (together with their managed Console). I parted with both some time ago. Naturally in between - there were/are many free Games offered here via GGOTD, for which I stay grateful!
To my modest defence:) - I always keep an eye on any technical issues where Games are concerned and where I can help or shed light on I try to get involved.
My Regards and once again big TY. Wishing You Nice Day and happy Week ahead!

Hi WR,
I can tell You that 'Real Arcade' became 'Game House', I too can still sign in there and find the list of purchased Games. However, my List is incomplete and if you press d/l button next to any of them you'll find out that some have turned to 60min Trials.. Now You see why I gave up on them..
Old RealArcade used to be supplied by BFG, Alawar, Hasbro and many, many other big 'Names', but when they became 'Game House' some of purchased Games were scrapped from that list. Could be to do with real ownership of them, don't know. If you contact their sites individually - they naturally have no record of Games purchased via RealArcade..
..And here my story runs full circle:) and ties with my original Post above (to Mavadelo) Couple of my favorite old Games that became over-stretched and distorted were indeed bought from RealArcade many moons ago, one was 'WeaveWords' (Redclaw Games), the other 'Yahtzee' (Zylom & 2007 Hasbro) These two Games had to be re-purchased again (full price) from their respective sites, as RealArcade had no record whatsoever of us buying them. Funny how one doesn't mind getting back what brings simple joys, even at a price!? (no matter that you have hundreds of new and newest big, modern Games to play till heart content..:) And if You say - this example begs for joining Steam I'll still smile. Yes, off course it does, no argument there. Friendly Greetings to You.

Hi WR, over Easter I had conversation with my Grandsons about Steam Games and mentioned I might had been lucky recipient of Steam Game Key granted by You earlier as a 'thankyou' for one of my Comments (above), and although I declined this Offer - They asked me if it was possible to get that free Key for them on my behalf. The Game they asked for is: 'ARK: Survival Evolved'. Is that still possible? I would be very grateful. Don't know how that could be done. I am not a member of Steam, but my Grandson's Steam Account is under the name of: 'indiejcleary'. Kind Regards from me.

This game is not installing.
As I run the setup, all it does is activate (shows the activation window), then shows the successfully activated, and take me to the web site. No error messages. I download 3 times with 2 different browsers. No luck.
No installed game on hard disk, no icons on desktop, NOTHING.!!!
I have a win 8.1 64 bits OS on an ASUS laptop.
Too bad really, I want to play this game.

If you enjoyed the Time Management sub-genre of Royal Envoy or Moai series, or Dragon Crossing -- where you collect resources and repair your way through levels towards a goal and don't get timed-out -- you'll enjoy this game; and it's appropriate for kids, too.
Your character, Aerie, in her ill-fitting dress, is so personable and likeable that I suspect she's based on a real person; the music is delightful and appropriate, and the visuals are bright. You might wonder why you find polar bears and nesting parrots in a boreal landscape, but- meh! - just go with it.
There are three 'flashlight' levels where only your next-step area is illuminated, for variation; and you can restart or replay any level for a better time.
This game was such a perfect balance between relaxation/challenge that I played it through at least six times to wind down for the evening, and I'm hoping for a sequel from World Loom.
